KLH Floor Speakers ROCKS...
by: Anonymous    On: 2004-04-13

These speakers rocks! Price is very reasonable, you can afford it and instead of tiny speakers with woofer, I like these FLOOR STANDING SPEAKERS BETTER, CAUSE I like to feel the vibe!
Perfect... not quite but damn close     On: 2003-03-27

I bought these speakers a while ago (few months) to replace the old speakers I had (Ones my parents had when they were in college, it had a hudge 8 inch driver. I was amazed at the power they had even though it was hooked up to a tiny 100 watt amp. I have scence upgraded to my fathers old AMPZILLIA. Even when I crank these things up to their max 170 watts they stay clean (and they have a buffer of at least 30 watts). I only had one problem with them. I wanted more bass. I bought a small 8 inch sub and they work perfect together. I have found that these speakers sound best when you have at least 120watts going through them. Anything less you can still hear yourself think.
Full Range Sound... almost..     On: 2002-11-19

Ive had these speakers for several months, and broke them in with a combination of different types of music. As far as sound, they produce a very full range sound. Although, the sound lacks in a couple areas, of the high frequency, and more so in the mid-range. My solution was to wire them in parallel, with a pair of Polk R10s, which took care of most of the issues.

The whole setup is run by a Kenwood receiver, which with the speakers wired in parallel, provides 200Watts per channel, at 4 Ohms.

these speakers rock     On: 2002-09-14

i Bought these speakers a couple of months ago and when i hooked them up to my reciever i wasnt too happy about the bass, sounded not that good so one day i got bored and decided to hook them to my 500watt surround sound reciever, GOD DAMN these speakers made the floor vibrate i now have these speakers on 2x4 facing the floor( i use them as down firing subs)and you can feel the bass, these things kick and they kick hard all u need is a good reciver to give them the power they need.
KLH 123 osb 170 watt 3 way Floorstanding Speakers.     On: 2002-07-26

Beautiful sound, great power. I am very pleased with these speakers. Be sure to verify with Amazon.com the shipping method and details regarding shipping. My speakers we left at my address in a severely damaged box that was taped together. The speakers did have some scratches on them, though they worked beautifully. Amazon worked with me on a refund/ discount or they were willing to replace.
Best Sounding Speakers For The Bucks
by: Anonymous    On: 2002-05-11

These speakers cant be beat for the price! The lows, mids, and highs all come thru with nice clarity. I use these in my living room for DVDs, CDs and the TV cable signal audio. Id recommend
these speakers for anyone looking for good quality sound at a low price. Nice job KLH!!!!
Why not in Canada?     On: 2002-02-24

Hi,I was looking all around on the net looking for big speakers and when I saw these I went nuts, I wanted these really bad but when I saw that I cant get them because I live in Canada. Could you tell me when you can ship these speakers to Canada please thank you.
Loudest Dorm Room EVER     On: 2002-01-16

I bought a pair of these ...just cuz they were dirt-cheap for the pair. Ive already ordered a pair of KLH AV5001s (still waitin for them) but these were delivered to me at school first. Ive got them hooked up to my Pioneer 4x150 watt receiver, and its ridiculous with these two "smaller" speakers. I have this all hooked up to my computer, and already people are asking me to DJ for their parties. I cant even IMAGINE how it will sound when my AV5001s arrive....
Speakers prone to damage in shipment     On: 2002-01-12

I cant attest to the sound of these speakers because I never got to use them. The orignial pair I ordered arrived damaged, as did the replacement pair. The factory packing is so poor that the probability of them withstanding shipment of any distance without damage seems remote. Amazon was very good about refunding my money, but this was a major hassle. Check with Amazon about packing before ordering.
good speakers     On: 2001-12-11

I hooked this speakers up with a realistic 50 watt stereo and it was overwhelming me with how good they were( they were better then the stereo) I give this 5 stars.
other speakers don't walk the walk     On: 2001-08-14

i didnt buy my 1230SBs on amazon, but after seeing how much people were banging on them and other klh products, i have to set the record straight. now, unlike most of the other people writing reviews i bought my KLH speakers at BEST BUY. there i had the chance to listen to them alongside comparable speakers by CERWIN VEGA and JBL powered by the same amps and on the same music. sorry to say, but although the cerwin vega and especially the jbl speakers cost 100s of dollars more, i thought the KLH speakers sounded better. no i dont have hearing problems and no i did not have financial limitations, i just enjoyed the klh speakers more. ive read some reviews where people have said that the bass in these speakers and other large klh speakers and subs was to boomy. i must be either really confused or just crazy because i allways thought people bought large speakers so their bass would boom boom boom. isnt that what bass is?? boom boom boom, because if its not then why do companies make big speakers?? if people dont like bass that sounds like bass then who got the idea to make 12s,15s and 18s?? im not crazy or confused, bass is supposed to make the walls shake and the earth quake, and if you dont like boom boom boom in your living room then you shouldnt be buying large speakers, especially not KLH speakers. take it from me. ive listened to these speakers side by side with others like CERWIN VEGA and JBL and for the buck and especially the boom....these speakers blow the others out of the room!!!!!!!
OK Speakers     On: 2001-07-08

These are acceptable for the price, but dont expect a room full of bass. And dont try to blast the neighborhood with them, you cant.
Very very good for the money     On: 2000-11-17

First, let me say that these are FAR from the best speaker on the market. However, I bought these when I was 15, working a minimum wage job. Value was very important to me. I now have a much higher quality digital surround sound system, and I sold these to my dad to put with the TV in the basement. For $100 a pair, you CANNOT go wrong with these. The only thing bad about them is the lack of low-end. Dont get me wrong, with a little power theyll still pound, but the low extension is a little disappointing for a 12-inch woofer. For music these are EXCELLENT speakers. The clarity of the midrange rivals that of many high-end speakers, and the highs are very crisp, with a broad soundstage. The uppper and mid-bass is extremely tight and accurate. If youre on a budget, I would definately recommend these speakers.
GOOD VALUE     On: 2000-09-14

These rather mild speakers surprised me. Their high point is their mid rangeclarity, which equals speakers costingthree times as much. Slightly weak on Bass, but excellent on the high end. Ihighly recommend these speakers.
Great Speakers!     On: 2000-09-02

Wow! this is amazing! so cheap! These things are better than my friends $399.00 speakers! Seriously. So far I havent heard the slightest bit of distortion at any valume (although I havent turned the stereo up all the way, for fear of busting the windows out or something). The bass is spectacular. And who says they dont look good! I think they look great! pitch black with a silver logo looks good to me. Also.. they have a 3" dynamic cone tweeter, not a 0.8", as is obvious by the photos, and proven when I received them. My suggestion: Buy the speakers, and Eiffel 65s Europop CD... you will be amazed by the highs, mids, bass etc...
Isn't it what's inside that counts?
by: Anonymous    On: 2000-06-02

I own a 15" KLH Loudspeaker, I made the purchase a long time ago before I knew much about audio, (whooo, 15", 300W, and a Liquid cooled tweeter to boot what could be cooler?)

Hmm, lets open it up and take a look

The magnet assymbley on the 15" woofer is smaller then the magnet on my 6.5" Midwoofer in my car stereo, wires going to the speakers must be 24ga. (extremely thin) the cross-over also looks pitiful, but hey, for that price what can you expect? At least the box is pretty beefy ;)

Screachy highs dull mids sloppy bass w/absolutly no punch...

I plan to Replace these speakers with Cerwin-Vegas AL-750 or AL-1000 but cannot find a dealer!

Ok, mabye Im being a little harsh, the last review on this page is very acurate...

Well worth the price
by: Anonymous    On: 2000-03-02

If you are not looking to buy a speaker that blows you off your seat these are it. I currently have them hooked up to a little sony bookshelf stereo system and they exceeded my expectations they are deffinatly worth the money. I have always bought KLH speakers and I have very picky ears. The highs are perfect mids are good and the bass is a little loose nothing a sub wont fix these are not huge speakers but they get the job done I am very impressed....

underestimated speakers
by: Anonymous    On: 2000-02-18

I held off buying these speakers because of some of the nasty reviews. Well the reviewer that said they were a piece of junk is wrong. I have an enormous loft studio and I needed a pair of speakers with enough quality and range to allow me entire days of listening to complex and beautiful music. I bought these and am grateful. Not only are they a physical presence, they are gentle giants. The bass is clear the highs sweet and they love classical music as much as I do. I can enjoy my music for hours on end without the headache even more expensive speakers give me , but then I dont need to wake the dead or impress audiophiles. If you want an great pair of speakers for the sane but low price of this pair. go for it Im sorry I waited so long Happy 50 year old music lover

Extremely cool     On: 2000-01-05

These speakers are extremely nice! They have good high range and excellent low frequency. The bass is extremely good, and can almost catch up to my subwoofer(which is very, very nice). I was looking for good speakers at a low price. This is the best deal anywhere.
Not bad!     On: 1999-12-11

These speakers are NOT for serious listeners. For the price they are a good second system choice. The bass is not tight or well defined. The treble is a bit weak. The mids are very pronounced. Would be well suited for background music or a teenager wanting Bigger Speakers for their room.
Considering the price...
by: Anonymous    On: 1999-12-07

For $50/speaker, Im satisfied with these speakers. Raising them off the ground definitely improves the sound. I have mine on small 25" high tables , one on each side about 4 feet from my desk chair. Overall, not for a finicky audiophile, could be more lively, and Im not sure how far the sound travels clearly, but for a small-medium room and arranged properly, theyre decent, especially considering the price. The Amazon review rips the appearance a bit harshly; theyre not fancy, but they look fine. I would have given 3.5 stars if it was an option.
Junk speaker
by: Anonymous    On: 1999-12-02

This is less than a "budget" speaker, this is junk. Do not waste your money on this, or the JBL that Amazon.com calls "mid-priced." It is also junk. The starting point in your search for speakers should be the NHT that is listed "best." This is a very good speaker, one that will give you hours of enjoyment. I guarantee that if you buy this KLH speaker, you will tire of it quickly, but think that you are merely bored with "stereo." You are really the victim of bad, bad stereo equipment.
