After a lot of questions and reading I decided to go ahead and buy this camcorder. Before getting it I was worried about how complicated it would be to operate since I have never used one. Boy was I worried over nothing!!! The moment I opened the package the only thing to do was charge the battery and start enjoying. A great product, extremely easy to use and very easy to connect to a TV. As soon as the tape finishes I`ll try and record the Hi8 to my VHS for storage. VERY PLEASED!!!!!!!!! On: 2001-09-11
I bought this as my first camcorder a year ago, it is fun and easy to use. With in the first hour I was filming happily with great results. Just hook it up to the TV to watch on big screen and its easy to record onto a VCR. Although adding sound on it is a little harder. The main problem I expierenced was holding steady at 16xzoom...but it works fine if I hold it against something, a railing or table top etc...Also the LCD screen is not protected and I was worried Id damage it at first, but a year later and its still working fine after many hours hiking in the woods and riding in the skiff, so I guess its a pretty hardy viewing screen. Also I bought a 3 hour battery, the batteries need to be completely drained to re-charge and that is a drag but...its still wonderful and I am very happy with it! A great camcorder for the money. by: Anonymous On: 2001-02-19
I didnt really need this camera, Its just another toy, but it is fun. Battery life is a little short and I could use a little work w/ steadiness, but other than that this camera is great. On: 2001-01-27
As an owner of a SHARP HI-8 VIEWCAM i have enjoyed useing it. But i have a problem my battery life is only 1.5hours long. I have tried searching the shops around N.IRELAND and cant find one who dose the three hour pack or what price it is can any one please help On: 2000-06-27
This is definitely the best product for the money because of the Hi-8 resolution, large LCD screen, ease of use and instant fun it provides. But when using the 16X zoom, keeping a steady hand gets very tricky and the end result is very annoying when played back. Buying a second (high capacity) battery with this fun viewcam is highly recommended, because you will be using it so much ... much more than you would any standard viewfinder-only camera. I got this camera for christmas. I took it with us to Disneyworld. It was really great to use and still be able to see what was going on. I really enjoyed the camera until it was stolen from my home! Definitley buy this one! On: 2000-06-21

The Sharp VeiwCam Series are fun cameras because they are so unobtrusive. If you want to record Grandpa telling his stories of the old days of blacksmithing, just hold the ViewCam in your lap and watch the scene unfold on the LCD screen. If you try using the traditional eyeball/riflescope type camera, everyone becomes so aware of you that the stories stop while you are stared and glared at. Remember, the idea is to capture the moment, not kill it. On: 2000-05-28
My previous camcorder broke and I waited awhile before buying a new one. I did some research and chose this camera. Its great, The best part is not having to squint into a tiny black and white hole when trying to record something. The camera offers lots of fun features that enable you to make interesting videos. A downside is it tends to be a bit bulky at times but I would rather take that over a bigger camera. And also the one touch LCD screen sometimes looks a bit dirty but only two faults after six months of great recording! On: 2000-05-27
