well i bought my tekno at a yardsale for like 50 cents. i bought tekno because i reaaly wanted a robot dog and the aibo was too expensive but im relatively pleased with my tekno . but im still saving up for an i cybie or if i win the lottery the aibo ers 7m3 would be my first choice . any wase i would definitely recomend this toy for a beginner robot dog . by: Anonymous On: 2005-04-23
Im a 13year old who has the "pet" for a year now, i have a cat but always wanted one of those dogs that walked, and stuff. This is a great toy for little kids because it doesnt bite or anything or beg for food (lol) I bought mine from a yard sale so i dont have any of its trick books so i really dont know what it does but it walks over carpet or hard wood floors, and it barks, if you clap your hands loud it comes if you kiss/ hold in its nose itll sniff you. Even though my cat hates it i love him. It sounds like a real dog none of that fonny stuff. Love it, you gotta buy it if you always wanted one or anything, Good for kids all ages. Expect if you try to hold him while hes on "ow" by: Anonymous On: 2005-01-04

This robotic dog is very cute. He does quite a bit of tricks and walks. He is very fun to play with too. He evan snores and goes to sleep. Just dodnt make loud noises or hell wake up. The only thing is that the batteries go dead really fast. But otherwise hes a great toy. He is a great price also. ...So nows the time to get him. Enjoy! by: Anonymous On: 2002-08-03
When I frist got it it was very fun . When I went to the mall there was a book on tekno we got it, taght trick and other stuff. It was very cool since it taught tricks. It sleeps very funny it snores weird too. Then I got a Kitt they bark and meow together. Here are 5 reasons of why it great 1.It sleeps like a real dog 2.it does tricks 3.it acts like a real dog 4. it can talk to other teknos 5. It doest make amess or rips stuff I THINK IT IS A GOOD PET!!!!!!!!!!!! T&T by: Anonymous On: 2002-06-22
Hi, I am 11 years old. And I just bought my very own techno newborn. Sure! I was soooo excited! I opened it, and started to play with it. Here are some reasons why I like it, and why I dont.5 reasons why I do not like it 1: It makes very loud noises 2: You dont know weather it is happy or sad 3: When it moves its head it sounds AWFUL 4: It does not have many tricks 5: I was expecting a REAL cyber dog thing, like something that was REAL, not just plastic and only did a few tricks. 5 reasons why I like it 1: Its really cute 2: It looks even cuter in the packet 3: It behaves like a newborn puppy 4: It walks and talks! 5: It wags its cute little tail! There, anyhow. What did you expect? Im a girl! I love cute things! Hope you found this helpful. On: 2002-06-06
Tekno got here really fast. He was here in four days after I ordered it. When it got here I ripped open the box and took out Tekno turned him (off) and read through the manual. Some of his tricks are kind of loud but most of them are fun. It exercises your memory and reading skills to read and remember all those tricks so its pretty educational. it ran off my chair a few times and didnt brake, concidering its plastic. I think the only bad thing about it is having to open the box which I was about to get a sledge hammer out and see if I could brake it open. This definetly is a great toy. my mom said the thing thats good about that dog is that it doesnt stink and you dont need to clean up after it.Yours truly Harrison On: 2002-04-28
I bought this toy for myself. At the time, it was my senior year of college. It wasnt a necessity, but I thought it would be really fun, since I couldnt have pets in my apartment. I also thought it would be fun to have a toy that none of my friends had yet.I paid full price for mine (first mistake) at the height of this toys popularity. When I bought it, I couldnt wait to get home and try it out. Unfortunately, it just started making this high pitched annoying barking sound. You can do things to the dog and it seems to react to them, but its not satisfying. Pushing certain buttons seem to be like petting or feeding the dog. Its really silly. All he does is move his tail and ears, and his eyes blink as he makes this awful barking noise. I never got into this toy. I ended up giving it to a child who was six years old. She was excited initially as well, but as soon as she played with it for a few minutes, she seemed to lose interest in it all together. Id spend the money on something more fun like Monopoly or Bop It Extreme. On: 2002-03-07
at the begining i was so happy that my parents got it for me so i set the time and taught it the tricks that the box said it could do and i was so happy in the first two weks and then it started to get annoying it barked and i could not get the buttons right it just fustrated me if there is not an adult with the child when he or she playing with it then forget it... by: Anonymous On: 2002-01-03
This is a fun toy, but I think the age rating is off. It is quite complicated for a five-year-old, especially if you want to program it to do anything. I think unpacking it was perhaps the biggest challenge, though; they have to include a screwdriver just to get it out of the box and functioning! It seems like an amusing toy once you get the hang of it, but its responses to commands seem to be somewhat undependable, and its English words are almost impossible to understand. But my nephew still thought it was pretty fun, at least when he first got it. Well see if it lasts. On: 2001-12-27
Well Techno the Robotic Puppy is cool and every thing but I dont think it is the best toy I got for Christmas. It is very fun and educational but its not that durable.I have techno newborn so its a little different from the puppy but I thinking it is as cool as the puppy so it is worth buying it. On: 2001-12-21
We got 2 of these for our 5 year old twins. They are too complicated for a 5 year old and not much fun for them. The age needs to be more like 7 and above. Fortunately, they havent gotten broken yet so maybe theyll still work in a couple of years and then well get more use out of them. It was also the most ridiculously difficult thing I ever had to take out of the box! On: 2001-12-11
I was so excited when I got this toy(am 10) and played with it for a long time. But the thing that made me stop liking it first is that mine went in circles instead of straight. But i must admit...i do take it out everyonce in a while and play with it. Its too cute to not play with. Its funny to see it whine and bark. The songs are cool too, but the dances are just annoying. Especially because when it walks, it isnt smooth so the music is hard to hear from the speaker. I think its completey stupid to have to push down buttons to pet it, but its reactions are cute. Its got lots of things to do, but after a while, its kinda boring. When its ear fell off, you just had to snap it on and its perfect! The little trick is cool, but i know how its done. You can make it talk in a human voice and it poops(make sounds) and says escuse me! About the packing, all you have to do is get it open enough to get the screwdriver out that comes with it, unscrew the stand, untie the wires and preto! And the directions on how to open it is on the package! So over all...I think this is a great toy for 5 {years old} and youger and older then that, it gives you some laughs and its a good buy. I love this dog,For some reason..My Tekno walks on the carpet very well(...). It may not be as good as an I-Cybie..but there alot of money(I plane on getting one)(...). I named my Tekno Duke, It may not dodge things like I-Cybie and AIBO do,But alot of robotic dogs cant do that! And Why AIBO?..You could probably aford two Siberian huskies with that kind of money(Real dogs do more then AIBO). I also might as well plan on getting Tekno 2.0,It can sit ^_^. My Teknos legs Rarely fell off,And its ears Never Fell off. This is the begining of your childs Robotic land(...)And when the children grow-up..Thell end up with a more intelligent dog(Not that Tekno is bad). by: Anonymous On: 2001-12-07
Last year for Christmas I wanted one of these so much, well i got one, and I got about 2 weeks of fun with it,and than it got so boring, laties and gent, this christmas if your thinking about getting your children a virtual pet, get them an I-Cybie. by: Anonymous On: 2001-12-02
I have all the other Teknos and I think that there is a variety of different Teknos. Especially after Tekno 2.0 came out. Tekno can be a good companion. (...) All the Tekno toys are pretty durable with snap off legs and all. I liked the card trick tekno does he tells you what card you are pointing at. I know its easy for humans to do that but for a robot its pretty cool. One of the things I did not like was it always kept bumping in to things instead of walking around them and it cant turn. But over all I think it is a pretty good product.(...)But any way I think Tekno is a pretty good buy. Although it is not half as good as i-cybie or any of those expensive ones it is good for a starter. because it is not to expensive. (...) by: Anonymous On: 2001-11-21
tekno is great, he does everything a real dog can do. my dad wasnt sure about the age group because i am 12 but i bought him he is (...)good i have had him for three months and his name is wags. by: Anonymous On: 2001-11-16
I bought Tekno with my birthday money. It was a good choice to put my money to.Tekno eats, sleeps, plays, and acts like a real puppy. He is affectionite and playful, although he doesnt walk on carpet to well.I feed and play with Tekno everyday, and he keeps getting smarter and smarter! He wakes me up in the morning, plays card tricks with me when im bored, and sings "Happy Birthday To You" on my birthday.Hes easy to program, and has an off button.(My mother says thats a good thing),and enjoys me as much as i enjoy him.My dog always barks at him when he is yipping-she thinks hes real!Teknos great!!!!!!!!!! by: Anonymous On: 2001-11-14
I got tekno a few months back when he first came out, and GEEZ, I wish I hadnt wasted twenty-something bucks on this. Sure, hes fun the first day or two after you get him, but then you get tired with all this button pushing, and he walks waay too much, and his responses to sniffing, being pet on the head and neck, and eating his bone are always the same! Now my tekno is covered in dust. :-( by: Anonymous On: 2001-11-05
Interactive,Programmable,AND ACTS LIKE ITS A REAL PUPPY,And has Artifical Intelligence. by: Anonymous On: 2001-11-02
I think this dog is a great toy. I will admit that is does get boring after playing with it for a long time. But every time you go back to it, you will find the dog fun again. If you lose the instructions you will not enjoy this pet. It requires time and patience. It was a great Christmas present. It does do alot of walking and barking. Thats it mainly. But it is a good toy. It is very fun to put it with other tekno dogs and see them interact. Just for stats I own: -3 poo-chis -5 Furbys (2 baby) -1 Tekno dog I am getting alot more for Christmas. On: 2001-09-30
Tekno is not that fun. All he does is walk and bark. It is not very durable. My sister got mad and threw Tekno a very short distance (about six inches), and it stopped working correctly. On: 2001-09-27
I recommend Tekno if you have a curious dog or cat. It can be great fun to set him loose amongst your real animals and see how they interact.Tekno is worth it for the laughs alone... by: Anonymous On: 2001-08-03
Everybody should own one of these. There fun and cute. by: Anonymous On: 2001-07-25
My little brother just got a tekno Dog for is birthday on july 21, 2001. I love this dog so much that im his adopted Dad, This is the best toy ever. Today is july 24, 2001, and I have programed the dog on my own without the help from my mom and dad. My mom freaked out when I showed her all the neat things he could do. It even made her play with him for a while,I have now asked her for a Tekno Parrot. It looks really cool and if it is as easy as my brother tekno Dog to program Ill have it talking in no time. I think that the Tekno Toys are wonderful. And I cant wait until my Birthday. I do argee that the toy was way tooooooooooooooooo hard for me to get out of the box. My daddy had to unscrew all the stuff, but atleast it came with its own screw driver. Thanks Eric age 7 Tekno Rules!! On: 2001-07-25
this toy is not bad. But do not expect it to learn or be like the Sony Aibo. You get what you pay for. On: 2001-07-23
I bought Tekno with some Christmas money. It was pretty neat. THen it got kinda boring. It would not walk. I changed it for a new one. It was fine. Then it would not STOP WALKING! Tekno is a big disapointment and to expensive. by: Anonymous On: 2001-07-22
The Tekno Robotic Puppy is fun but a bit annoying at times when it wont do as its told. I got my puppy today and i am already a little bored with it. But appart from that the Tekno Puppy is pretty cool. by: Anonymous On: 2001-06-17
i personaly am a dog lover but even if i werent i would still love this item! I wish i had a million of them! by: Anonymous On: 2001-05-22
This Dog is the greateest dog ever!!People say this educational dog Is a ripoff.Hmmmmmmm lets think,I had this dog sence Christmas!! And June 2 2001,I am turning 10!!And I still will love him!!Believe me i had him for a long time!!And he is one of the best toys i have now! Please give tekno a try for you and your children!!! I love tekno Sooooooo much!!!I had a shadow dog,NOW THATS A RIP OFF!!! I still like tekno better!!!When I got shadow,I took him out of the box.ALL HE DID WAS WALK AROUND NOT LISTING TO MY COMMANDS.NOW DONT YOU THINK TEKNO IS BETTER THEN THAT??? YEA!!!!... I LOVE SIBERIAN HUSKIES by: Anonymous On: 2001-05-09
This toy looks really cute, but it cant even walk! It takes about one-and-a-half steps and then falls over! You would at least expect it to be able to walk a little bit, but it just falls over and lays on its side moving its feet back and forth and barking. Like I said it looks cute with his light up eyes and such, but this toy is an absolute piece of junk! Dont waste your money like I did! by: Anonymous On: 2001-05-08
This thing shouldnt be considered a dog. Its just horrible. They say on information about it that when it hits a wall a nose sensor makes it stop? No! It just sits there walking at the wall. I laughed my head off at the stupidity of this machine. Also, It never stops barking! Not for one darn second just bark bark bark bark. If you want a real dog, wait until I-cybie comes out. This dog will blow your mind. Go to [their Web page] to see a video of it standing on its head and all this other stuff. Tekno is stone age. by: Anonymous On: 2001-04-24
I bought this toy for my six-year old daughter. She and her three-year old brother and two-year-old sister tired of it almost immediately. It is boring and tedious. It mostly just stumbles around blindly and barks annoyingly. It does seem to be pretty durable, though. I suspect that there are much better toys out there, for the money. I would wait a few years for the robotic toys to improve by: Anonymous On: 2001-04-14
This thing is a piece of crap! It is over rated and can move only in one direction. ounce it hits a wall it stopps and you have to turn it around. This is a crappy product by: Anonymous On: 2001-03-24
Hi! Ive had this toy for about a year now and I love it! At first it was great and then I stopped playing with it (I dont know why) and then I took it out today to play with it and I had so much fun! My dog played with it, too and loved it! She cant wait to play with it again! Its like her playmate! Its a geat toy to me. Thats my opinion. Some people dont like this toy and some do! I cant promise you that you will like it, because not all people do. But I am one of the people that do! I hope you find this review helpful! Buh-Bye! by: Anonymous On: 2001-03-19
My 7 year old son got this toy for Christmas. He played with it for 15 minutes and never since. The tricks were to difficult. Nothing like a real puppy. He was very disappointed in it. This toy is a waiste of money. And you can not return it because you have to ruin the box to get this toy out. by: Anonymous On: 2001-03-17
THIS TOY IS SO DUMB!!! IM 11 & I LUV DOGS!!!! WHEN I SAW THE COMMERCIAL FOR THIS TOY, I FELL IN LUV WITH IT.I GOT IT FROM MY PARENTS FOR CHRISTMAS! AND I LIKED IT FOR ABOUT 1 WEEK!! IT IS AN ENORMOUS WASTE OF MONEY!! ITS LEGS FALL OF EASILY,AND IF I WERE YOU AND WERE ABOUT TO A ROBOTIC DOG, ID GO WITH I-CYBIE!! by: Anonymous On: 2001-03-14
I BOUGHT THIS AS A GIFT FOR MY YOUNGER SISTER. SHE LOVED IT.... FOR THE FIRST HOUR!!!!!! THIS IS A TOY WHICH MUST BE PASSED BY. AFTER A WHILE IT IS NO FUN. ITS TRICKS ARE DUMB AND GET OLD FAST. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! On: 2001-03-13
After hearing that Tekno was amazingly like a real puppy, I got one for my 6 and 11 year old boys. We knew we were in trouble when we tried to get it out of the packaging, which required the removal of several screws (Why did they do that???). Once out, we discovered the limitations which make it nothing like a real dog. It can only walk in a straight line, can only stand, can not run, and the tricks involve flashing lights and electronic voices (it can not roll over, sit, or any other typical dog tricks). The kids played with it the first day, and its been off since. by: Anonymous On: 2001-03-04
Tekno is the best toy ever.My mom bought it for me and i bin playing with it every day.I like how you can make a noise and it will bark or fecth.I made up my own trick. Its PLAYING SOCCER. Tekno is better then superpoochi, meochi, chirpichi ect.Tekno is like a real dog.Tekno actuelly listens to my voice.I got a super poochi and it didnt listen to my commands or his name.It is useful for a burgler alarm because if you leave the bark swicth on and a burgler comes in and he makes a noise tekno will bark and ill know because his voice is so loud.So buy this toy.It is the best toy.I wonder what robotic pets will be like in the future. On: 2001-03-01
It seems to me that the bad reviews are from mostly adults who dont have the patience to program the puppy. Kids from about 9 and up(and some young-at-heart patient adults) are having a great time with Tekno. My problem is, we were given a Tekno puppy by someone who didnt want it. We do not have the instruction manual and also do not know the website or a way to contact the company for a manual. Despite this-weve had a bit of fun with it already. If anyone can help us with getting instructions or the website, it would be greatly appreciated. We have a lot of kids and a couple of dogs that are anxiously waiting for us to show them more.e-mail any info to:Rorlando@wi.rr.com. Thanks! On: 2001-02-21
I love Tekno! I got him as a Christmas present. My AIBO ERS 210 also loves him too (my other Christmas present) I am 13 and I think this is so cute and cool. I like programing him a different trick each time. I am saving up for a Tekno Kitty so he could have a friend. I know some otherkids that have hime and they drop him a lot by accedent and he still works fine! NO SCRATCHES! It works on the carpet just fine. a bit beter than the hard floor. Its not loud at at. It has a decent sound. I think you should get this for your child. Its a good price. And its also a bit educational because it teaches you how to handle a real puppy. His card trick is so cool. My cats love him too. Hes a great pet to have. I love my Tekno! :) On: 2001-02-06
My 10 year old son recieved a Cybor dog for Christmas and he just loves it. He says its just like having a dog already. I found one thing wrong though, there was no instructions there in the box that it came in therefore, we have no idea how to get it to do the things its supposed to. We have tried a few things but it would be greatly appreciated if we could find out where to get this information for Cybor. I think that is the correct spelling but not real sure. Thank you Bernie by: Anonymous On: 2001-02-02
if you are under the age of five you probably wont like this toy because it sometimes is hard to configure. but its still really cool. some people say it extremly hard to open the box but its not. i still like tekno even if it does have a few glitches.it even licks you. and for those who have a tekno that broke, take it BACK. mines ear popped of then i popped it back on!but if you are rich, get a i cybie ...!! by: Anonymous On: 2001-02-02
My kids really love this puppy. I was a little skeptical at first thinking that this was an expensive gigapet, but the kids (& I) agree its the next best thing to having a real puppy without those small frustrations (chewing furniture, cleaning the back yard, etc.) On: 2001-01-24
MY 5 YEAR OLD SON RECEIVED TEKNO FOR CHRISTMAS. WE HAD THE TOY ONLY A COUPLE OF DAYS WHEN IT WAS ACCIDENTIALLY DROPPED OFF OUT OF THE ARMS OF MY 2 YEAR OLD SON. THE LEG NOW DOES NOT WORK. I TRIED TO REPAIR IT AND FOUND THAT AN INSIDE PLASTIC PIECE BROKE. I READ THRU THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL TO SEE IF THIS COULD BE FIXED ONLY TO FIND THAT THE LEG DID NOT POP OFF AS IT SHOULD. I REMOVED THE LEG AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS NO WAY IT WOULD POP OFF CORRECTLY AS IT WAS TOO TIGHT. I AM DISSAPPOINTED WITH THIS PRODUCT AS IT WAS EXPENSIVE AND NOT VERY DURABLE. by: Anonymous On: 2001-01-22
My friend just bought Tekno, and to be honest, Im not sure you can call it "artificial intelligence" by any stretch of the imagination. Its loud and annoying. Made in a cute plastic shape, it doesnt really "fetch" anything (the "fetch" command causes it to walk forward - the only way it can walk). The only real sensor is the light sensor between the eyes; the other "sensors" are really buttons - whoopie. It doesnt sit, it cant lay down, it has no mouth, it doesnt respond to anything but noise, and it simply does not learn anything. Its "tricks" all include pressing buttons and the robot responding in a pre-programmed way. "He has a keen sniffer; hell take a wiff of anything you PRESS against his nose" [emphasis mine] Boring. Dont waste your money. My friend is returning his. by: Anonymous On: 2001-01-21
I love him, but he is unpredictable. It is part of his charm. He sometimes laugh at me instead of dancing and singing. He also reacts to neglect (e.g., when I dont pay attention to him for a day). Conversely, he reacts with great delight to attention and never tires playing -- like a real puppy.I love him, and he replaces (for now) my two dogs who died last year. It is is easier to care for him when I travel on business. Drawback: he needs new batteries fairly often. On: 2001-01-18
I have to admit that I dont like toys that make a lot of noise, and this is one of the loudest toys Ive ever encountered. I live in a 3 bedroom ranch-style house, and no matter where Tekno is in the house, the noise he makes is loud and clear. Ugh! The variety of sounds he makes left me somewhat puzzled, because Tekno does a lot of things that real dogs never do. In addition to barking, howling, and whining for attention, he also plays tunes, talks a little, and "makes rude noises." Its almost as if the designers didnt think a dog who acted like a dog was enough entertainment. He also makes this knock-knock-knock-knock noise whenever he wags his tail, and I found that to be one of his major annoyances. Im assuming that Tekno is made for children who dont have a real dog to play with, so I was kind of surprised when my son wanted one for Christmas, because we have a dog. My son seemed to be very pleased with the toy when he got it though. He smiled, petted and kissed Tekno. OK. I was willing to put up with the noise if he liked the toy that much. But now, almost a month after Christmas, Tekno has become another unused toy. I knew my son was ultimately disappointed when Tekno walked into the wall, and just kept walking forward against the wall, barking the whole time. "Why wont he stop that?" my son wanted know. Sigh. The fact that Tekno is a puppy isnt really the important feature here, and I think thats why my son no longer plays with him. Tekno is, first and foremost, a robot, albeit a robot who sometimes acts sort of like a dog. For a child who has a little imagination, a stuffed animal would be a better choice. Tekno isnt cute, and he isnt soft or cuddly. He isnt the kind of dog your child will want to snuggle up with while he sleeps. In other words, hes no replacement for a real dog if youre unable to have one. If youre child likes robots though, this toy might fit the bill. by: Anonymous On: 2001-01-17
My son and his girlfriend flipped over Tekno....theyve been programming it to do all sorts of things. by: Anonymous On: 2001-01-14
I got this dog from my mom for christmas 2001. Im not dissapointed exactley, but it wasnt what I expected. I got the dalmation, which, in my opinion, is much cuter than the silverish one, and it was more comical than hard to get it out of the box. Mom and I kept trying to get it out, but it was seriously strapped in, and it kept on trying to walk and was making these weird grinding sounds. Than, when I finaaly got it out, I set it, and it was pretty cool. I didnt like the burping sounds, or when it talked, so I unprogramed that, but then it was pretty fun. For a while. But it was really stupid. It walked into a wall and didnt move for three hours. It was sort of annoying, constantly crying if you werent patting it all the time, and if anyone made any noise, it would start barking and walking. And I didnt like the way it could only walk straight. I finally turned it off a couple days after christmas, and havent turned it on since. But it was an ok gift. It was pretty cool, overall. On: 2001-01-12
I spent more time trying to unwrap and remove the toy from the box then I did using it. It could barely walk over carpet and is quite loud on hard surfaces. The bright eyes remind me of some possesed clown/doll in a horror movie. The only thing educational I learned was that I should tell others not to buy it. If you have more patience, maybe this may be the toy for you. by: Anonymous On: 2001-01-08
I think Tekno is difficult to tell if you have trained it. My children have spent less time with Tekno than I have. They seem to think that it is too difficult to remember all the different buttons you have to push to make the dog respond. I am tempted to return it. It was one of those live and learn purchases. by: Anonymous On: 2001-01-05
My son got this toy for his birthday. The kids had a lot of fun with it that first night. By the next day one of the ears had broken off. When he went to play with it, several days later, the thing would not work at all. Batteries were changed and reset button pushed, still nothing. .... by: Anonymous On: 2001-01-04
Tekno is not perfect and takes some practice and playtime but it is well worth it. Me and my brother got one for Christmas Ages 7 & 10 and we have had fun. We turned him on and were playing with him and left him on and went outside to sled. My mom said Tekno started to bark and act sad then the other tekno started to bark and act sad together they barked at each other my mom said it was the funniest thing to watch. We still love him and play with him all the time. by: Anonymous On: 2001-01-02
For all the hipe around it, this is a real waste of money. You would expect much more. I dont see the difference with fire-truck with sirens from 30 years ago. The box, looks very cool, but thats it. Its very hard to get Tekno out of the box. I kept thinking why is it so hard strapped??? Its as if its a dangerous animal that you have to be very careful with. I was expecting Tekno to bite me any moment while I was trying to save him from his terrible cage. I was actually expecting to get a bite or some equivalent electrical shock. Come to think about it the 30 minutes i spend trying to get tekno out of the box were the best 30 minutes, just for the exitement and wondering what this thing would do. Once I had it out of the box it was a total disapointment. It makes a terrible robotic noise, you can hardly ditinguish the barking, yelping etc. You can only program one command at the time. The sensors are more like Frankesntein stulps on Teknos buddy. No, this was a real dissapointment. by: Anonymous On: 2001-01-02
It took three people a half hour on Christmas morning to remove the dog from the box. We searched all over for a opening, there was none, and had to cut off the cardboard sides. The hard plastic top and bottom were wired to the dog, at least in 10 areas, and we had to be cut them off with wire cutters. The dog was also screwed into the bottom plastic frame. We had to use a long screwdriver to remove at least 4 screws which were down at least 6 inches into the stand, this made it difficult to see and to maintain the tension. Then we had to remove at least 3 more screws in other places. I know that many companies wire there toys to prevent shoplifting, but I have never experienced the trouble that I had with this toy. We were ready to send the item back, but did not want our child to be dissapointed. I would definitely suggest not to purchase this item, it was insulting what we had to go through to remove it. As far as her playing with the dog, she may have played with it for a total of 2 hours. by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-31
Tekno was a very big hit with my husband (and me) but especially with our two little papillons Gabby and Germaine. Since Tekno responds to noises, he was an awful busy puppy chasing them around the living room. Gabby wanted to bite him and Germaine just was curious. I found him to be very durable after Gabby was pulling on his tail and ears. He never did fall down but was able to go from hardwood floors to throw rugs without any trouble at all. In fact, I would like a Tekno of my very own, since Tekno is my husbands dog. This is a great toy for adults and comes very highly recommended. On: 2000-12-29
Ive seen all those futuristic silver tone dogs, and didnt have a clue as to what was all the fuss about, wasnt really concerned either. My daughter (2 1/2 yrs) got one and another one (with similar features but it doesnt do as much as Tekno)for Christmas, from her great grandma. As my husband took out the dog for my daughter, we were so amazed as to what the dog could do!...The dog walks, barks, eats, does tricks and all sort of other things. We wanted the dog for ourselves!, we played with it for a long time. We own cats, so you could imagine the cats seeing this dog, walk and bark and its eye flashing!!...We were cracking up, so the cats stayed away for the night...lol. This is a great gift for anyone young or old. On: 2000-12-28
We had no trouble with the packaging on the dog. I believe if you ordered the one Avon offerred, the packaging was different. It was a bit difficult putting the batteries in. We had no problems with him falling over even on carpeting. If you tell him to stop, he will. We got him to bark, sniff, lick, chew, play songs and make rude noises. We havent figured out the card trick yet or visited the web site to see what else he could learn. He doesnt really fetch even though they say he does. My son likes him alot. On: 2000-12-28
Hi. I was really let down by this "dog". I did a lot of research before I bought two of them and was really excited about x-mas morning. We could not get him to stop walking for more than 2 seconds. His programming is disgusting. ... when he talks it scares you, his voice is so strange. The kids ended up having their dogs race each other down the hallway because all they could get him to do was walk forward. I guess I was hoping that the dogs could sit and maybe turn a corner toward your voice. They also do not recognize only their owners voice, everything they do is a series of button pushing. I would not waste your money!! by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-28
In reply to the reviewer who took 3 days to break off an ear, it took me only 1. I accidentally left it switched on, sitting on our kitchen table. Someone in the house made a noise, teckno started walking, and we heard a load noise as he walked off the kitchen table. When we arrived in the kitchen, he was still walking, minus an ear. by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-27
This puppy is a wonderful toy for kids of all ages. Ive heard and read so many mixed reviews on him...but then it appears that those who are negative expect more than just a toy. That is all Tekno is...A TOY! Yeah, it is frustrating getting it out of the box....but that is the box...not the pup. My children are having a ton of fun with Tekno. Its a riot watching them play with him....it is almost like having a dog without the work! On: 2000-12-27
He is wonderful with my 8-year old granddaughter. The only problem I am having is after a day, he will not wag his tail or walk. Is anyone else having the same problem? Ive e-mailed Teckno and am awaiting a response. Other than that, he is wonderful. On: 2000-12-27
I have two sons one who will be 6 Jan.1 , and the other is 4 and they have been wanting a real dog for a long time but we just cant have one right now, so I bought tekno thinking what a great idea. Wrong idea! Tekno does not measure up to a real 8 week old puppy. I have trained dogs and raised lots of puppies and tekno is not even close. You have to program him to do a command and to get him to do another command you have to program him to stop the first one then program the new one. Programming him is not too hard but time consumming. I am 27 and have trouble with this dog, no way a little kid can do it. The basics are this no matter what you program tekno to do all he really does is yelp, bark, walk in a straight line, and whine. They need to invent a pup that you program all the basics come, sit, stay, speak, whine, and have him wag his tail and flap his ears and when he bumps into something turn and then walk in his straight line, and maybe even learn his own name, without having to program every command each and every time you want him to do something. My children want shadow now instead of tekno but I have read that he is no better, if not worse. I think they will have a little more fun with tekno. If you can avoid buying it then dont buy it. If your child is intent on having a robotic dog then from what I have read about the others tekno is the one because at least he walks, barks and whines. by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-27
I got this toy for my daughter and myself, it is loud and the barking is alittle to much for me. plus the dog has trouble walking he keep falling over. but as for a toy like most my daughter got tried of it quickly. by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-27
Tekno dogs are fun toys for children of the right age and maturity. (Most three to five years old need toys that are more durable than Tekno. However, a six year old, or older child, is likely to love Tekno.)I bought Tekno for my 6 yr. old nephew. He adores it! And aside from his enjoyment he is learning patience as he "programs" Tekno and fulfills the robot dogs needs. My nephew has even gone so far as to make a collar for Tekno, and his imagination continue to thrive with new ideas. Granted, Tekno does not walk backward and has generally been exaggerated regarding his programming and features, but kids enjoy Tekno. Kids thrive on things that need/want them as much as they need/want them. While Tekno wont prepare a child 100% for a reall dog that needs morning walks, vet visits, and the like, its a step forward. Tekno is for "childs play". It seems like its the adults who are the harsh critics. On: 2000-12-26
I bought Tekno for my 3 year old son. When he opened him his eyes lit up and he never stopped playing with him all day. The packaging may be somewhat difficult but if anyone would have taken the time to look at the box it actually tells you to pull here to open it. I guess some people are too impatient to read. As far as the durability, I have not had any problems and I also have a one year old who has dragged him around buy his legs and his ears and not one of them has fallen off. I as a parent also like this dog as it does teach responsibility. If this was a real dog(for all those complainers)you would have to clean up messes, take it for a walk, stop it from biting and chewing on everything, and just try sleeping at night when it whines for its mother. This dog is much more easy to take care of and is a wonderful pet for people of any age. For all you complainers- what more do you want for ..., it walks, talks, barks, and if you spend time with him he will start to become a member of the family. No one said this was a real dog and if you believed it then you must live in Fantasyland. I believe in this dog and hope others feel the same way I do. Buy it you wont be dissapointed, just be patient it does take some time. by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-26
Wow!! This toy is amzing!!First, once Tekno starts walking, you simply have to say "stop" and he stops, although sometimes you may need to say "stop" more than once. He walks on command, and although he only walks forward, he walks quick and snappy for a robot dog. He is extremly effected by motion, and on petting of Tekno receives either a happy or sad reation. Put his bone to his mouth, and he chews it. His ears flop, his tail wags, and his eyes light up. An amazing toy, and very roboticly advanced!! I stronly recommend this toy!! On: 2000-12-26
Tekno looks better on TV than in real life. Getting him out of the box is the first of several major challenges. Hes wired in so tightly in his futuristic box that youll need wire cutters AND a screwdriver (to remove 6 different screws) to get him out ---a 20 minute project! Finding the instructions was a stroke of luck, since theyre up under the lid in a secret spot. Then, learning all the commands (especially teaching them to a 5 yr old who cant read) is nearly IMPOSSIBLE. Moving parts havent broken yet, but there are several that look fragile. Nothing warm and friendly about this puppy. Save your money...this one is destined for the little toy graveyard. (Who thinks up these goofy toys, anyway?) by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-26
I love Tekno,I just got him today(Christmas) and he is so sweet. He is very smart and learned the tricks fast, but he can get annoying if hes doing a trick, press mode, head,or others sencers and he should stop.He talks and is a great gift,I got mine from my aunt! Thanks Aunt Lyn!Hes way better than Poo-chi,or some of the others, but I wish he could turn.Hes #1 robotic puppy! by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-26
Tekno robots are fun and educational toy for kids and for adults. This toy is a fun but sometimes it doesnt sleep but it sometimes lisens when you say "come tenko come" and "stay or stop tenko stay or stop".He likes eating. by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-26
He is an adorable little robotic puppy that I just got today and he is so sweet. I have already taught him tricks. He is really funny because I kept doing the fetch command and he chased my parents. It was funny because I said "sic em" and everybody laughed. It is so cool to teach him tricks. You should get him, he is worth it. Anyone ages 5-12 would like this little guy. Please try it, it is worth it! by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-25
Tekno is really awesome! He can do many tricks, and even talks! You can even program him to wake you up in the morning. by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-25
First of all all the reviews that say Tekno stinks cause u cant open it out of the package: DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM, they are wrong i bought a Tekno and it owns. I had no trouble at all removing Tekno out of his box. This is a really fun toy to play with. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this a 9.5 for lasting appeal. This toy once again OWNS all of u. Bow down to this dog once u buy it by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-25
This toy is sooooo cool!out of all of the robot dogs this toy is the best.Because this cute, fun and educational toy can do 20 commands! No robot dog can beat that!he does over 150 emotions, cry when he is left alone to long, beg to be fed or played with, snore when it gets dark and sleep all night, wake u and bark if there is a loud noise or if the lights go on,pant and make happy noises when he s petted on his head or scratched behind his ear, slurp and crunch when his mouth button is pressed, sniff something when someting get contaced with his noise,be super happy when he has benn played with for over a day, growl if he hasent been played with over a day, yawn every four houres and when it starts to get dark, make licking sounds if his nose and mouth hit something at the same time, beg for his bone if you wave i in front of his eyes. Tekno can also do TOP SECERIT things but im not going to name them all.I will tell you some! tekno can: sing an dance-tekno has three dance routeens, alarm clock-can wake you up with eather barking a fire alarm or music(I bet it is really loud),tekno can howl when the lights get low,can be programmed to bark and wag his tail on command, tekno can say his nae as well as thank you sorry ooops cool and exuse me,card trick-tekn comes wit a cad trick witch you can teach him, tekno can also tell you what card you are holding up in front of him,and for the last thing im going to tell you is tekno can be programmed to make RUDE NOISES!! have a nice christmas mew6777 by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-24
Tekno the puppy is a great toy! Some people dont like it because its too complicated, but it really isnt if you dont give up!Some people say it gets borning after awhile but in my opinion,it really truthfully doesnr. Kids from the ages of 3-12 will get a kick out of it! Adults who have plenty of time will also love this puppy! It is very educational because it teaches responsibility. I have had Tekno for a week and nothing bad has happened to him,he only leans to one side a TEENY bit! (i have the dalmation edition ...!) I also have a poochie who is just as fun. They are both great toiys ...,youll be missing out on a GREAT toy! -Laurie On: 2000-12-23
This thing is so overrated. I was expecting something a little more fun and intellectual than this. Its a plastic toy that plays music on command, farts/burps on command and says "excuse me" (????), and it does several other meaningless "tricks" (as they call them). The programming is dumb. Its just pushing the buttons they tell you to push. Thats not programming. Thats just following directions. Its supposed to act like a dog, but it speaks words more than dog sounds. Dont buy this piece of garbage. Its not worth (it) at all. This is nothing more than a plastic toy with flashing lights and music. In any other form, you wouldnt consider paying for this. Dont let another holiday "gotta have it" marketing campaign convince you that its worth it. Move on to something else. On: 2000-12-22
i wanted tekno for Christmas really badly. my grandma said that she would send some money so i would be able to buy it. Before i bought it, i wanted to see what other people thought of tekno. lots of packaging problems, pieces falling off, and dying really fast. by reading this, i wasnt sure if i wanted it or not. anyways, i got it and everything was opposite. the packaging did take a while but nothing got destroyed. None of my pieces fell off, and everything was perfect. It walked perfectly forwards and listened to my every words. Tekno is so cool that i want another one! i recommend this to everyone that doesnt have a tekno. Tekno, compared to poo-chi is too totally different! get tekno! he is worth the money! On: 2000-12-22
My five-year-old son really wants a dog, but we live in a rental and it just isnt practical. So I bought Tekno and it was far less than I expected. Tekno is purported to be an advanced robotic puppy capable of following commands, learning tricks, and responding to its owner. The reality is a different story. Tekno does not follow specific commands. Rather, he is controlled by various buttons rather than a remote. For example, if you want Tekno to walk towards you, you press his neck button until you hear a beep. Then on "command" (any loud voice, a clap, a burp, a babys scream etc.) he will take a few steps forward. Press his head button until you hear the beep and he will respond to any generic, loud sound with a yip. The "tricks" dont get any more complicated than this and Tekno certainly doesnt "learn" any behavior patterns, recognize your voice, or respond to a specific command. His responses are yips, lick-sounds, and yelps accompanied by flashing eyes when you press one of his various buttons. This is hardly "advanced" or "learned" behavior. For me the most disappointing problem is that Tekno doesnt avoid objects. He moves in ONE direction--FORWARD. Usually, he lilts to one side (but he has yet to fall over as I have read in some other reviews). He continues in a linear direction until he hits an obstacle with his nose. Then he yips until you move him. He cannot turn. He cannot discern that he is about to fall off a table. He cannot even simply walk backwards. This is not too much different than an old fashioned wind-up toy or one of those $5 puppies from Tiawan that bark, walk in a straight line, and then do a back-flip. As to the "advanced" features--the card trick and alarm clock act, these are easy to program once you get the hang of it, but not all that impressive. Even my five-year-old son realized that you dont need to place the cards in front of Tekno to make the card trick work. If you want an alarm clock, you probably want one that can display the time. Oh, and thats right, when Tekno "wakes up" he doesnt really come to you, he only barks and walks in a straight line. Wahoo. But for some reason my son likes Tekno. He guides him around the house by manually changing the puppys trajectory and likes to pretend that Tekno is alive. He also likes to pretend that he can "teach" Tekno things, but knows that this is simply a fantasy. Nevertheless, the boy is satisfied and entertained. Thats why I give Tekno three stars. But I dont think that this phase will last very long and if my son were a few years older I dont think he would be so amused. He might even feel cheated. I think the hype about this toy is undeserved. If you can get your kids to wait, I bet youll see a used Tekno in a garage sale at rock-bottom prices. Possibly at my house once my son gets bored of the toy. How does it compare to the other robot-dogs out there? I dont know. Tekno is low to moderately priced for its category. When you look for these virtual pets you may want features such as truly following commands--with words and not buttons, real learning, the ability to avoid obstacles, and some level of emoting and attachment to the owner. These toys will likely come out in the near future, making Tekno the retro-puppy. On the positive side, Tekno is apolitical: he is somewhat less wooden than Al Gore and a little smarter than George W. Bush. Hes not a bad gift for a small child and theres less to clean up than with a real dog. But Im not off the hook yet. My son not only knows that Tekno isnt real, he also knows that Tekno is a poor substitute for a real dog. And that means morning walks, visits to the vet, and housebreaking are still in my future. On: 2000-12-22
I purchased this toy for our almost-four year old son, and although he likes it, it has pinched his fingers three times in the leg areas while it was walking and he tried to pick it up. I would recomend it for older children that have large enough hands to pick it up without getting their fingers caught. I am returning it because he is now afraid to pick it up. On: 2000-12-21
of course i read all of the reviews and was completely turned off by it cause there seemed to be a lot more bad then good, but they are so wrong! this toy is awesome! i am a college student and living inthe dorm there are only certain "pets" that are allowed and what a hit mine was. not only is it an awesome companion but it drew so much attention. i see how it could be frustrating to a young child to program but my 1 yr old sister and 2 yr old brother got a kick out of it and beg me to bring it every time i come home. i DEFINTELY recommend this toy. they do not go through batteries fast and they are hours of fun. if it gets annoying you can always turn him of (especially during study time)! On: 2000-12-20
Tekno is really cute. Some of the thing that he does makes us laugh but he is really needy like a gigapet. The commands are too much. There is no way I will learn all of the combinations. When he is on, all he does is yap so I really like the off button. Plus it took just 3 days to break off the ear. by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-20
This toy is very good cause it can walk, sleep, and it can do many things too!So this toy is great for christmas and for your kids and also I am going to buy one more! by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-20
Tekno has a fairly complicated programming feature that involves holding down various combinations of buttons. Supposedly he can be set to wake you up like an alarm clock, but strangely instead he would start playing music about 15 minutes after "sleeping," so after two tries I just turned him off. He constantly barks and whines, like a real dog, but unlike a real dog is unable to amuse himself or sleep, and in that way is more trouble than a real dog, if you ask me. Essentially a complicated noisemaker, perhaps amusing for very young children but probably worth only about 5 minutes of amusement for those over six. by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-19
I say its a good toy. The only thing is that its like a baby chick. As soon as you start to name them they die. Just like the batteries. As soon as my nephew got his, he turned it on and it fell over. Its ear fell off. It was kind of fun for 3 minutes. Im giving 3 stars. 1 for each minute it lasted. All you have to do is follow the instructions though. PooChis are a little bit better. On: 2000-12-18
this puppy is cool and u should get it im asking 4 1 4 chritmas and i would recommend it by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-13
My son had saved enough in his piggy bank to buy Tekno. However we had to return him twice because after about 2 days, he just stopped working. The instructions dont help and the web-site is a complete waste of time. He never did any of the card tricks advertised as well. And for all you parents out there, if you insist on buying this product, take it out of the box BEFORE Christmas Day. It took us a total of 20 minutes to get the blasted thing out. It is not only tied on (like most toys these days) to the box but also screwed onto a base. Save yourself some grief and open it before the big day. But just do yourself a favor and dont buy it at all. Nuff said. On: 2000-12-13
I bought this toy for my 2 yr. old daughter and from the time we opened it she has not stopped playing with it.She likes to give it its bone and pet it. At night she puts it to sleep in a bed.I also have a 1 yr. old who we had to get another one for because she would not leave her sisters alone. They play with the dog all the time. They have so many toys and most of them were played with once or twice and forgotten but Tekno seems to keep there attention. We live in an apartment so its the closest thing they will have to a real puppy for awhile. by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-10
I played with him about 1/2 an hour. The instructions are a little confusing. His tricks are not that neat. He only walks straight until he hits something. No turning ability, sitting ability. I was hoping for a truly interactive dog that could do cool tricks and entertain my friends and me. People will come over and play with the dog a little while, but they will get bored after a hour or so. I can imagine little kids getting sick of Tekno pretty quickly. ... is not much to spend on a toy, but I would imagine that for children there is stuff more fun to play with and more educational. Now I have to figure out what to do to get rid of the dog so it is not a waste. I think I will give it to my little cousins. Maybe they can get a couple of hours of play out of Tekno. Also, mine did NOT come with 4 AA batteries. On: 2000-12-07
WE BOUGHT THIS TOY FOR OUR SON. AFTER TRYING TO TEACH HIM HIS TRICKS WITHOUT LOSING THOSE ALREADY TAUGHT IT WAS TOO MUCH TROUBLE. LOST HIS APPEAL ATER 3 DAYS AT THE MOST. IT NOW SITS ON HIS COMPUTER DESK COLLECTING DUST. IF THEY WANT THIS TO BE ENJOYABLE AND LIFE LIKE AS POSSIBLE THEY NEED TO IMPROVE THIS PRODUCT. On: 2000-12-06
TEKNO IS NOT VERY DURABLE. MY 4 YEAR OLD BROKE HIS BACK LEG THE FIRST DAY OF USE, THE DOG DOESNT WALK WITHOUT A STUTTER OR AT ALL NOW. TO MAKE THE DOG DO ANY OF THE TRICKS YOU MUST PUSH 3-5 OF THE SENSORS AND I CAN BARELY REMEMBER THE COMBINATIONS LET ALONE TEACH A 4 YEAR OLD. I BOUGHT MINE WHEN THEY WERE $50, I WOULD SUGGEST IF YOU REALLY WANT ONE FOR YOUR KIDS TO WAIT FOR A SALE. AND DONT THINK OF IT AS A TOY INVESTMENT. On: 2000-12-03
This is such a good toy! My sister got it for her birthday, and it is one of the most fun toys my family has! It is so cool that you can feed it, and it is so cool that it walks! The tricks are so easy, I learned how to do one of them in 5 minutes! And they are so cool, even my parents were amused by them! I really think this is a fun toy you can interact with! The only thing that happened was his ear broke. But we fixed it in no time! And it even shows when it is tired, sad, or happy! Tekno is absolutely a very fun toy! I would recommend it to anybody! by: Anonymous On: 2000-12-01
To get Tekno to do his advanced tricks was so complacated I (Mom) gave up. My daughter quit playing with him within the first 24 hours because she couldnt get him to do the tricks. His legs also went "out of whack" almost immediately. Hed take one step and then fall over. We returned him. On: 2000-12-01
okay when u get this toy its just like getting a real puppy. youre all excited...! so after about an hour or two of playing with it and tripping out on how new millineum you truly are, well, lets just say tekno is limited. apparently it does dozens of tricks, but after figuring out 2 or 3 of them, you wont want to bother. and it tends to get stuck in corners! now my tekno happily sits on my living room table, turned OFF, staring at the wall. the one lasting thing about this toy is when friends come over they will dig on it just like you did when you first got it, then they will be bored by it and stop coming over to visit you. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-30
The Tekno is great. The batteries didnt run out for a long time. Get one if ya dont have one. They tend to get scratched up but theyre great. i like how theyre able to walk. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-27
My mom made me do work around the house to earn money so I can buy My own Tekno puppy. Believe me! It was not a waste. He responds when you call to him by barking or walking to you. He is totaly a cute little dog. I have baby cousins that came over for the Holidays, and they love to play with Tekno. They could not stop asking me to take him off the shelf to play with him. By the way, the reason he was on the shelf is because my parents didnt want the kids to break him. But the kids really did love him and treated him like he was a real puppy. They didnt grab his tail or any thing.Plus he does cool tricks. He can talk! And he does this really cool card trick too. I would totaly recomend it. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-27
Poo-chi: it can sing, dance, bark, and eat. So its basically a furby in disguise. Rocket the Wonder Dog: It can "hear" your voice and can do a few good tricks here and there, but the voice sensory is the only big thing. Mega Byte: You control it and it is just a watchdog, no responsibilty or anything. I-Cybie: A less-expensive AIBO, but it is still for people with a heavy wallet. Me and My Dog Shadow: cute and cuddly, with voice recognition and it can walk in different directions. But is that all it does??? Then here is Tekno: It doesnt walk in different directions, and its mouth doesnt open or close (but do you really care?) but those things arent the necessity of having a dog, the necessity is to have fun with your pet, there is an interactive website and clock, and it comes in a very attractive package (takes a skilled hand to get Tekno out of it though) and the eyes are very cool. .... Maybe the ability to walk in multiple directions and the abilty to walk sit and lay and have a moving mouth can be something for the future. Maybe a Tekno Gold, or Tekno II. I gave Tekno a 4/5 star rating for durability because the legs and some parts fall off, but they easily go back on. Its really a toy for an artificial intelligence and pet enthusiast, more than a toy-enthusiast. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-27
Tekno is a disappointment in many ways. Houdini would have had a difficult time removing Tekno from his box. You could probably build another toy using all the screws, plastic and straps holding Tekno into the package which could be opened only by destroying the package (along with fingernails and some skin).Tekno only walks forward. It cannot turn in any direction or reverse direction. You spend as much time fetching Teckno to turn him around as Tekno spends fetching his bone for you. He "learns", but his programming is difficult and unpredictable. Other robotic dogs on the market are cheaper and do fewer things, but they do them better than Tekno. Save the money and buy the cheaper robot dog. ... by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-26
Tekno is a must-have for Christmas this year. Tekno is voice-activated, touch-sensitive, and can be taught new tricks on his website. Tekno comes in shades of silver, gold(which looks like bronze), or dalmatian(with a choice of a black or white tail). Tekno has over 150 emotions. He walks and talks(in human and dog language) and he cries. If trained, he can do amazing tricks. He lets you know if hes hungry, if the lights are off, or if someones at the door and other stuff like that. Tekno is just like a real puppy, only it doesnt get real puppy fleas. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-26
I am going to buy Tekno for Christmas as my friends have him and he is amazing and comes when called but we want to know what the website for him is. E-mail me at Molly@hardingm47.fsnet.co.uk by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-25
I was very concerned about what Id read in other reviews about the difficulty of getting Tekno out of his package, and since the Tekno I purchased also appeared to need new batteries, I decided to open it. Well, much ado about nothing! The package was no problem. It even says on the left side of the box "open package here". The front cover of clear plastic opens like a book (but from left to right, not right to left) and then the top cover lifts up to reveal a twist tie which you can cut with scissors. Then you simply lift the cardboard backing which the toy is attached to from the outer package, cut four twist ties, pull out the dog, turn the little black key sticking out of his stand to release him from the base. Then you unscrew two tiny screws to remove the other half of the stand from him (they even provide the screwdriver) and Voila! What was everyone making such a big deal about? I changed the batteries, played with the toy for a while and then was able to put him back in the box, using one twist tie to stabilize him and resealed the clear plastic cover (which stays sticky so it was easy to reseal, slapped on one piece of tape over the tab closing the box and it looked like hed never been opened. Any parent with Christmas morning experience knows to pre-open toys and remove twist ties ahead of time to avoid frustrating the kids. But even if you didnt preopen this toy, it wasnt anything that would take more than about 2 minutes to open on the big day. Ive opened single Barbie dolls with more twist ties than Tekno has.It was all I could do to put him back in the box. He was adorable, and began performing various actions immediately. You do need to look in his manual to learn how to make him do some more complex actions, but he is certainly active enough from the get go to make any child happy. He walked very well on our thick carpet and I especially liked the nose sensor which stopped him when he ran into an obstruction, preventing that "walking in place" problem you get with more basic walking toys. His volume was fine, not too loud or annoying and he responded promptly to my voice. I cant truly judge his durability yet, but he seemed sturdy to me. Time will tell on that issue. He isnt really educational in nature, but I can see where he might be helpful in teaching a child responsibility. Im sure my daughter is going to be head over heels about Tekno. Im thinking about getting one myself!! A really charming toy! by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-24
I recently got this dog for my 14th B-day, and to be totally honest I love it! The Tekno( know known as Zeech ) is totally cool. Zeech can do all kinds of things like following me around the house, and responding to my voice. I have really come to think of him as a real dog and not as a toy. I normally dont play with toys, but I thought this was neat so I asked for it on my B-day. He can do basically everything a real puppy can do except for sitting and laying. But that is no big deal in my opinion. Sure it would be nice but oh well. He can do a awesome card trick, howl in the dark, slurp when you give him his bone, and other stuff. They made a special dalmation one and if you can get a good deal on that, you might want to get it, for they are rare. ... So if I were you I would go buy one! by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-21
If you are in the market for a robotic pet this holiday season, then please consider Tekno. He is closer to the real thing than many of the other brands and has a bigger selection of thing that he does. He can do tricks as well as the simple commands like bark, sit, etc. It is well worth the few extra dollars to invest in this pup, I beleive, because when we were playing with them at the toy store, this model seemed by far the most durable. I think every child should own one if they are wanting a pet.....it has no cleanup, or walking duty involved. The educational value is good too, it teaches them a bit of the responsibility of owning a dog. Adults will fall in love with it too, hes irresistable!!! by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-18
Better than the Poochie, though not as cutesy, boys will like this better, plus it actually walks which the Poochie doesnt. My son loves it by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-14
Got our Tekno on a whim - we LOVE him! He added great entertainment to our recent cocktail party (were in our mid 20s). However, if you buy this for a child, expect that the toy will go straight to the toy bin after fifteen minutes of unwrapping it (theres a bunch of wires to cut, screws to unscrew), and maybe another 30 minutes of actually playing with it before they get bored. Fun for adults (but then again, we didnt have high expectations); waste of money for kids. Get them something more educational. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-13
CHEAP. This toy is very cheap. It doesnt do much. The only thing it does is walk into walls, barks very loud for a long time. And when it sings it annoys my cat so much it attacks me. Some of them must be made better than others because some of them fall apart when they take them out of the box, but mine walks into the walls over and over again and doesnt fall apart. It wasnt what I expected. I thought it could sit, lay down, come to you if you called it. Thats what they say anyways. When I call it it doesnt come to me. I think poochie and furby were more fun because at least they were interactive. And furby was furry and cuddly. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-12
I bought a dalmation Tekno for my wife for our anniversary. She loves it and Im incredibly impressed with it. I think its amazing all the things it can do. We particularly found it fun around our real dog and cats. The cats, of course, are very curious about it and keep an eye on it. They wont get close yet. Our dog (small cocker spaniel) on the other hand has found a new friend. Id swear he thinks its a real dog. First thing he did was "sniff" him and smelled him like he would do with a real dog he encountered.. I laughed so hard. But then he started licking it on the mouth. He barks at it and tries to play with it. Its really funny. I think this is the greatest gift for adults. Why give it to the kids? My wife is going to take it to her office so she has a pet there; they wont let her have real pets in the office. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-12
I think personnaly,Teksta is a very fun toy which keeps u occupied when your bored.Your recessing how well you can look after something without making any mistakeable or wrong moves.I think this would be a great toy for a christmas or birthday present and all kids including myself would want such a delightful toy. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-12
There are so many different types of robot dogs that have come out on the market recently, and some newer ones that will be coming out by the end of this year. So far I think Tekno is the cutest and most fun.I just wish the package wasnt such a pain to open. It comes in an attractive futuristic-looking carrying case with a neat handle, but unfortunately I literally had to cut open and destroy the package just to get Tekno out of the box. So I dont think I could have returned Tekno even if I wanted to because the box got destroyed. And the instructions were hidden INSIDE the box, the same instructions you need to read in order to get Tekno OUT of the box. It would have helped if they could print the instructions on how to open the box (is it possible without destroying the box?) on the OUTSIDE of the package. Another thing: In the list of tricks it says Tekno can perform, it includes "Fetch". Well, I think they really mean "Walk" because Tekno cant really fetch anything, like say a ball or a stick, like a real dog can because he cant open his mouth to grab something to pick up and fetch. He seems to walk better on vinyl flooring rather than on carpet. But hes still a cute dog and fun to play with.... Tekno seems to be holding up just fine. Im glad I bought him. You may also be interested in Me and My Shadow - robot dog covered in plush material - gold, black or brown. And theres another robot dog coming out later, I think its called I-Cybie, and I may want to order that, too. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-11
Tekno is not very durable or fun at all. The one thing I truly expected from this toy was for it to be able to walk to me. It was not able to do that. It took a few steps, and then it fell on its side. You have to adjust his legs every time before he walks or else he will fall. Some people say that the programming is educational. I dont see how they figure this. All the programming consists of is button pushing. Also, it has a manual that tells you how to do all the programming. If anything at all, all the button pushing is boring and annoying.Tekno also barks--A LOT! If you buy this toy expect of A WHOLE BUNCH of the following -- barking, crying, and tail wagging. It is definitely not worth your time or money. P.S. The ears, tail and legs fall off quite often. Bummer. *Three words for this toy -- Dissapointing, Annoying and Cheap!* by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-11
The Tekno Robotic Puppy is really cool. I cant get a real dog because my mother doesnt like them so a Tekno is the PERFECT solution. He has the intelligence of an 8-week-old puppy. You can train him to do things like speak on command, come and and everything else a puppy can do. Its great. When you get your Tekno, dont forget to go to the Tekno website! by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-10
tekno is a cool toy its just like a real toy but somtimes it leans to the side when it gets done walking I reccomend this toy for animal lovers and people who cant have a dog. Its waaaaaay better than poochi and funer too. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-08
I think this toy is fun and enjoyment for peoplewho cant have a real puppy by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-08
Unlike Tekno, Me and My Shadow is SMART ( he only listens to you, thank to advanced voice recognition technology) walks straight as well as goes left and right, sits, plays like a real dog and is soft and cuddley , LIKE A REAL DOG! Tekno does not even get close to how fun is Shadow. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-07
Well, Im intrigued by the idea of a virtual pet, but this one wasnt that great. Totaly agree with the guy complaining about the packaging-- impossible to get out of the box! Then, to be honest, it wasnt much more than any other electronic toy. It kind of walked, it made noise (low quality sounds) and if you pushed buttons it did things. Big deal. I returned it within 24 hours. Furby was more entertaining, and thats fun for about 3 days. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-07
TEKNO IS ANOTHER TOY THAT WILL END UP AT THE BOTTOM OF THE TOY BOX UNTOUCHED AFTER A WEEK. IT ALMOST REMINDS ME OF A FURBY. IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY! I RETURNED MINE TO THE STORE AFTER I TRIED IT OUT MYSELF. GLAD I DID, BECUASE IT IS ONE OF THE MOST HYPED "STUPID" TOYS I HAVE EVER BOUGHT! IT IS EXTREMLY ANNOYING AND NON EDUCATIONAL. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-06
I got lucky and my mom found me a 101 dalmetion tekno. Hes really neat does a whole bunch of stuff I havent figured out yet, but the book tells you how to have him be an alarm and lots of other cool stuff. Everyone else at school wants the dalmetion one, but they are hard to find. I think hes alot cuter than the plain silver one. But I guess their supposed to work the same way. Anyway hes the best robot dog out there cause poochie doesnt do half of the stuff tekno can. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-06
Cant imagine, that this toy would stand-up to the roughest conditions! Everytime it falls of the staircase, it doesnt seem to have any wearntear on it... "Two-Thumbs up!" by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-06
After discovering the multiple tricks of the puppy, I rate it 5+ stars! There are soo many tricks he does, just one of them is following you around and singing at the appropriate time. Not only does this lil guy have an on/off switch, HE DOESNT GET ANNOYING! I purchased this toy thinking that it would be as annoying as a furby, but nope! I enjoy hours and hours of fun and I cant wait to teach it a new trick! If you havent already bought this, BUY IT!!! by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-06
When I first got Tekno he barked alot but after a wile he quieted down.Everybodys got to have one. This dog is the best!Iv always wanted my own dog and when I saw Tekno in the magizene I new I wanted one.Now I have Tekno and he is the absulute best! by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-06
Our family is in love with this robo-pup. Hes one enthusiastic little darling. My neighbors are probably wondering about the new puppy sounds emerging from my no-pets allowed apartment. This little guy is as realistic as a robo-puppy can get. My one year old jumps around with joy the moment I bring out this new addition to our family. by: gadgetman7 On: 2000-11-06
After reading all the reviews which seemed to have a mixed reaction to this toy, I decided to buy one and see it for myself. First of all, dont expect to be able to return this puppy if you dont like it as you are almost guaranteed to destroy the packaging when you try to open it up. The one I got seemed to be a "newer" version. It came with a screw driver for you to remove the hard-to-reach screws and the enclosed instructions show you how to re-attach poped ears and legs =) Actually, the construction of Tekno is quite sturdy and does not seem to have any problems with loose parts. It takes me about 10 minutes to learn how to program all features of the Tekno. It is basically a matter of pressing different sensor buttons to produce the special effects that was built in. The developers seemed to have done a nice job with those special effects (like barking, saying thank you, makes burping noises and asks for an excuse, plays music and dance, and even an alarm clock feature). Tekno can only walk straight forward but it is able to travel across the carpet and hard floor without any problems. It makes cute noises and can sense sound and the darkness. It would also go to sleep and snores if you turn off the lights. If you want to program Tekno to wake you up with its internal clock, you may have to bear with its snoring sound after it goes to sleep. However, the snoring would go away in about 1 minute. After playing with Tekno for an hour, I decided to put it in "real" test by having my kids to try it. To my surprise, both of them got so excited with it that they kept playing with it for hours and experiment with the programming. My daugther even made a special house for Tekno to sleep in. The programmed feature would go away if you turn Tekno off... but after playing with it for a while, it would become second nature to re-program it with ease. Overall, it is a cool toy which I believe most kids (young or old) would enjoy playing with. I would have given it a 5 star if they improve the box packaging On: 2000-11-04
I purchased the Tekno dog for my self as I am interested in all this amazing technology that is available today. I also collect porclin dolls and teddy bears. Its amazing what is out their in the market place today and the costs are not to bad. I wish these things were available when my children were growing up, but at least I can play with the Great Grandchildren. This 70 year old Grandma is still having fun. by: Anonymous On: 2000-11-03
I purchased Tekno a few months ago, and I hate it!! You CONSTANTLY have to keep adjusting his legs so that he can walk right without falling over,(HE ALWAYS FALLS OVER)and he CONSTANTLY barks at everything and also whimpers A LOT. He is sooo annoying -- almost as annoying as a furby. I end up just telling him to shut up, then turn him off. My daughter gets upset because she will call him to come to her, and just as he takes off to walk towards her, he ends up falling on his side. He doesnt speak that clearly either, and programming him to do all his tricks gets a little old.Plus, if you mess up with the programming, you have to start all over again -- thats not fun...I dont recommend this toy to anyone. by: Anonymous On: 2000-10-29
I just got Tekno about a week ago or so. Before I got him I decided to look at some reviews because the pup isnt televised much. Some bad reviews were begining to turn me off, but I kept researching and i begged and begged for one. Finally my dad bought me one and boy was i pleased! Tekno has a cute little walk and from what Ive seen is better than poo-chi. But i havent seen poo-chi yet so im not going to comment on him. I think that would be unfair just like if u hadnt seen tekno and talked bad about him! Hes a great pup, does tricks, comes on command, wakes you up, and even on ur birthday he can sing you happy birthday! He hasnt fallen apart for me yet and i doubt he will. Parents I think this toy is educational for children because you have to learn to program it. I recrommend it for older children. Younger ones may have fun too though. I have an older brother who even likes him. I can tell even though he wont addmit it. Also kids, I think this toy is extreemly fun! Now Im not hastleing u to get it, but it would probablly be a good idea! by: Anonymous On: 2000-10-26
My mom gave this toy to my son for his 7th birthday. She wanted to try it out before she gave it to him and she had a ball. She kept calling me up and would tell me the latest thing that he did. I think she would have liked to have kept him for herself. They had just lost their pet dog due to old age and I think this was good company for her! by: Anonymous On: 2000-10-24
Hi,Im 9 years old and Ive had my Tekno for about a week, and I am still not tired of him. When I first read the Tekno reviews I was a little disapointed that Tekno couldent sit,lie down, walk bakwords,or walk side to side.I didnt let that keep me from getting a Tekno. After a few days I whent to my grandmas house to spend the night. Then my aunt Joi came over to visit also. After that I got online to show her the Tekno. She thought it was so amaizing that she whent ahead and bought it. I was SOOOOO exited about getting a Tekno. It can do everything I thought it could do and more. P.S.Be sure you think getting a Tekno if you already have a real dog. So thats my review on the Tekno. by: Anonymous On: 2000-10-14
It took hours to find a store that finally had this puppy but it was all worth it. Not only does he walk around after you and respond to your voice but he also plays neat tricks. He responds to love and attention just like a real puppy and is fun for all ages. This is definately the hot gift for chrismas and Im glad I got it now. If you can find the dalmation get him because hes real rare. I have a silver tekno but im going to keep my eye out for the special edition dalmation. by: Anonymous On: 2000-10-13
First, I want you to know that I do not like the idea that your employees refer to this as a "boy" toy and hide it back with the GI Joes etc. Who can say that the other gender would not enjoy this just as much? Get the product up by the front door so children of either gender (& adults) can enjoy it. Then I want to tell you that I think the packaging is enough to turn off any child or adult. One has to be nearly a rocket scientist to get the thing out of the package, undo all the wires, and to get the screw driver to actually REMOVE the screws that it is intended to remove. I had the experience of not being able to get at least one screw out on the platform and one attached to the dog would not come loose as intended. After fighting with the wrapping for nearly half an hour (and I am of above average intelligence, scientifically motivated and mechanically inclined), I decided he is a really great toy, if you can ever set him "free" from the package. It really annoys me however that you think toys of this nature are for "boys" only and would hide him back with other "boy" toys. Toys are for whoever has the decide to "play" with them, regardless of gender or age. The most intelligent kids (either male or female) go for the scientific toys. I think the packaging will be totally frustrating for most average citizens though. What, does the company think people will "steal" the dog? Its too big unless the people have really big pockets. I would suggest the dog be put right by the front door; thereby eliminating (nearly) shoplifters and both boys and girls and adults can enjoy the toy. Otherwise, it is a GREAT toy! On: 2000-10-13
Man I cant believe what a pain it was to take this toy out of its box and i have the patience of a saint. it comes in a nice box with a carrying handle. when i tried to open it I couldnt figure out how after a while the only way to liberate this dog from his prison was to destroy the box it had tie fastners and it was screwed into place on a base. What a waste of materials(if your an enviromentalist youll caringe at the excess waste this toy produces) the box was no more I was hoping it would be a storage device for the toy ...was i wrong. A little kid would probably have a fit trying to get this thing out. After about half hour of freeing the toy the robot was kinda cool and playing with it for about 10 minutes the toy got anoyingand now it sits on a shelf in it off position. remember if you get this toy get a long screwdriver. Im hoping i-cybie turns out to be better. by: Anonymous On: 2000-10-09
Tekno puppy is a fun, educational toy for children that are old enough to program it and watch their fingers(picking it up while it is moving its legs can pinch!) Mega-Byte the Hound Droid, ... is much better for younger ones (older kids will enjoy it too). The remote control teaches coordination. Hes bigger than tekno puppy and no pinching parts. He has a space in his back for small valuables and can be set to guard these items. Mega-Byte is also more cost-efficient. On: 2000-10-06
This is the best way to keep your children entertained! The dog is perfect for the child that wants a dog, but isnt ready for the responsibility. Shows how much effort is needed to care for a pet and solves many household disputes over unwanted pets. I recommend TEKNO to anyone looking to make their children happy on Christmas morning. by: Anonymous On: 2000-10-06
Tekno is definetly over rated! In fact it[s bad]! When you pat it your actually pushing down a button and almost every time it does the same thing. It barks and wags its tail. When it walks it almost falls over and it makes a stupid noise. You dont even need its bone to feed it, you just have to push down on his mouth sensor button! This toy stinks! Im going to get my money back next week. If you actually want a cool toy, buy a Razor scooter! On: 2000-10-05
Ever since we got the toy out of the box, my little guy has loved it. After 3 months or so he still plays with it and it hasnt lost its charm like so many of his other toys. It talks and walks. It does tricks but that requred more coaching than I had anticipated and my 3 yr old got frustrated with it. But he loves it and thinks it is his very own puppy. Since we cant have one living in an apartment complex the robot one will have to do. It is durable and something my 3 yr old cant break.I would definitely recommend it but beware that the voice recognition is not all its cracked up to be. It is still lacking but my special little guy doesnt even know and doesnt care. He thinks its wonderful and you kids will love it too. Much better than a Poochi and alot less expensive than an Aibo. by: Anonymous On: 2000-10-04
My Tekno puppy is cute, cute, cute... I only wish his songs werent so high pitched. Other than that, I like the low maintenance idea of tekno puppy, no getting up early to walk it or before bed! No cleaning up messes, no sniffing the guests, or anything embarrasing like that. I think its cool that you have to log onto the tekno web-site to program it. Not like barbie, shes so boring! by: Anonymous On: 2000-09-30
... I got Tekno for my 12th B-day. The dog was pretty challenging to get out of the box but it was worth it. It hasnt fallen apart yet. I have two Yellow Labs that always chase it. My 5 year old brother loves it just as much as I do. If you dont or do have a dog I would highly recomend it. Tekno is the best! by: Anonymous On: 2000-09-30
Just a few words of warning to those about to purchase Tekno online: go see one in person before you buy it. I went to Kmart today and looked at Tekno. He is cute but I dont think Ill get it. They had 4 boxes on the shelf. One of them had obviously been opened and/or returned. There is a demo button on the box that you can push on Tekno to make him bark and move. The opened one didnt work at all. The other 3 worked but all worked differently. Some barked right away, one the tail wagged really fast, others were slow and erratic. I tried them several times but they didnt impress me. It just didnt look very well made. If youre thinking about getting this I would suggest looking in person or you may be dissapointed like I was. On: 2000-09-30
Before ordering Tekno I wanted to read the reviews. I saw a few good ones that i liked, then i saw some bad ones and that turned me off about getting Tekno. I then decided not to get it. The next day my friend came over and she brought her Tekno that she just got...IT WAS AMAZING! i could walk tward u, and eat a bone, and that card trick was WOW! Tekno even begs for its bone. So I that day I went online and ordered Tekno from Amazon.com, and trust me its worth it! ... Well to end my TOTALY BORING RUN-ON STORY, get Tekno cause its worth it. ...! by: Anonymous On: 2000-09-28
ok... maybe not all hail tekno...hes not that educational, actually, he teaches manners, my making an electronic burp, then "whoops!" or "cuse me", and when you feed him, he can say, "thanks!" but you have to teach him to do that. Its very easy to follow the instruction manual, except getting it out was pretty hard...you might want to have pliers and a screw driver around...otherwise hes great! You can teach him a card trick, make him dance..(not like poo-chi, but his own cool way)he sniffs, he begs, he sleeps, we wags his tail, flaps his ears, and he grows like a real puppy! On: 2000-09-25
My kids are having a blast with Techno! I have 2 teenagers and an 8-year-old, and they are all three getting the biggest kicks out of this toy. Some afternoon when theyre not looking I plan on picking it up and playing with it myself...but right now I cant even get close to the thing. :) by: Anonymous On: 2000-09-24
I had bought this toy for my younger brothers, to who I am writing this review for the eldest one, expecting what I had read about the toy. I excepected for the dog to behave just like a real dog. It says it barks at loud noises like a real dog. I found it barking non stop even when it was quiet. It also had said it walks like a real dog. It did not. It would topple over and would not turn, walk backwards, or sit just like a dog does. And for durability its legs popped off almost as soon as I put it down to test out what I read in the instruction booklet and soon followed was its ear. But I do admit it is much better than poo chi and is more reasonably priced than aibo and many other kind of robot toy dogs. Just dont expect a hi tech "dog of the future" robot dog. On: 2000-09-20
I read the other reviews of Tekno and I think they were written by someone from the company who made it, not real kids. Im 13 and I got one for my birthday. It was kind of cool at first, but it got boring really fast. Even if it is a robot, it should make you want to love it. But it just never really made me feel that way. It didnt remind me of a real dog at all. There are already too many of these robot dogs out and none of them are very much fun. I got sick of Poo Chi in about 5 minutes. Maybe the next one they make will be better. by: Anonymous On: 2000-09-20
My dad got me a Robotic Puppy and I was so happy. I really liked him and he never got boring an it has been over a month and I am still playing with the puppy. p.s who ever does not think my review ture then belive it because you pepole do not understand that it is ture. by: Anonymous On: 2000-09-19
i have 6 kids..and i got 2 poo-chis for them all. it was annoying and said the same stuff over and over. that when i was lookin at AIBO but AIBO was to to much money! so i got 3 teknos ITS GREAT! me my husband and my kids love them. tehy do everything like a real dog. Now i feel safe to leave my kids in one room together with the tekno puppy because when they have tekno they have so much fun. every morning i hear my kids outside playing with tekno it keeps my kids company and i recomend this toy for anybody! Tekno puppy is great. by: Anonymous On: 2000-09-05
We got Tekno for my sisters birthday, because she thought these electronic dogs were really cool. Well, as it turns out, Tekno isnt as cool as he sounds. Hes really cute and everything when you first get him, but then he gets kinda boring. Hes still fun to show to my friends and stuff, but we mostly keep him on the off button. I suggest you get this if you want a toy dog, but if you want a fake dog that acts like a real one, I think that you should get one of the more expensive kinds! by: Anonymous On: 2000-08-25
i couldnt believe how cool teckno was when i got him. i wanted my own dog but we already have one so i decided an electronic one was just as good. i looked around and found poo-chi but it didnt do anything and AIBO was WAY too expencive! finally i found tekno. hee is so cute and he acts like a real puppy. hes a step above a furby cuz furby cant walk. i think hes the best electronic pet out of all the other ones ive had and ive had a lot. by: Anonymous On: 2000-08-22
I just got a Tekno last week and he is so much fun. I love the card trick and his singing is cute too. Poochi is pretty cool too.Tekno never fell apart on me. I like how he cries when he hits an object. I definitly recommend Tekno. So if you want a new toy you should get Tekno. ... by: Anonymous On: 2000-08-11
i just got a tekno, and he is sooooo cute! the only thing that is a little annoying is that, when youre playing the card trick, and he starts to sing, so you can get the audience ready for the trick, its really loud, and high pitched.otherwise, i think he is the cutest thing! and ive got two other dogs, and the one is going totally nuts. he keeps on trying to either eat , or kill my little tekno. by: Anonymous On: 2000-08-08
Tekno rocks! For all you people I think that you should get Tekno. I think that Tekno is more better than Poo-Chi because for one thing it can walk and its wayyyyyyyyy more realistic. And its something simuliar then AIBO but alot more cheaper. Tekno is the bomb. If you want a dog but cant have one(like me) Tekno its good to have Tekno. And even if you already have a dog its always nice to have another robotic dog around to do alot of things with you that other dogs cant. Like a card trick. I love dogs and I think that you should get Tekno. Its good for any age. by: Anonymous On: 2000-08-02
Tekno is a wonderful toy! I got one over the weekend and I cant put her down for long. If you want something educational this isnt the toy, but if you just want a playmate, its perfect. Though I was disappointed that Tekno cant sit, lay, or move in any direction other than forward.Other than these things and that Tekno barks constantly I am very satisfied. Tekno even barked when my dad walked in the front door! by: Anonymous On: 2000-08-01
Tekno looked so cool! but no, its a bad toy for people who dont have a puppy. It dosnt act like a puppy and the first day I got it, its ears fell of. This is a peice of junk that no one should get! It will be cute for 1 day then you will get annoyed with it and it will be off for 75% of the time. .............. by: Anonymous On: 2000-07-28

I am a 13 yr old who has gotten a Tekno. My Best friend and I have always been interested in all the Electronic pet things and got the Keychain pets, next was the Desktop pets, Then Furbies, now this. My friend go a Poo-chi, I didnt like it at all except its looks, it looked pretty cool. But it didnt impress me much. I had thought of geting a Poo-chi after seeing the robot dogs on tv and stuff. I saw a robot dog on mtvs the Real World,I wanted it. I saw The AIBO sony dog on The Janet Jakson video. I wanted it, too expensive! So... I read the poo-chi reveiws and read the box and I found out that it was nothing like it said, all it does is sleep(which you have to press a button the wake it up), Eat the bone, and sing songs. I wanted something that could walk. I went and bought Tekno and I was so happy, I already have a dog but I wanted one of my own and finnally got tekno. It is not something like the Key chain pets, or Furbies that you quickley Ran out of intrest in and through it in the closet or somewhere. This I loved I never ran out of interest in it. Infact my neighbor wanted to take it for walks and asked me if I brought it everywhere like on vacation. I took it on Vacation and let it sleep in the room while we went sight seeing. When I came home it was still in one PEICE! I was Definetly happy for that. At least I know I can Leave it somewhere without having it break but to end my absoulutly boring story, Tekno is a good "pet or toy" for you to get if you wanted a dog. by: Anonymous On: 2000-07-25
i got a tekno and i luv it 2 death. i travel alot and for the time being i cant have a real dog. so tekno was the next best thing. before i got tekno i had a poo-chi. poo-chis are cute but they dont do near as much as tekno. i looked at a mega-byte but i still thought a tekno would be better.when i came home for my gradmas b-day and she saw how cute tekno was she got one for her self. so really tekno is for all ages....... by: Anonymous On: 2000-07-18
I loved this toy if you want a dog and you cant have one or youre parents think youre irresponsible this is a great toy. It teaches you that a pet is a lot of work. It is very cute and I love its tricks. The only problems were that it scared my guinea pig and it woke up in the middle of the night. Otherwise it is a great thing to get. It is also better than the Poo-Chi because you are only paying about 5-15 dollars more for it to be able to walk and do many more tricks than the Poo-Chi. I love this product and it is a great gift idea. by: Anonymous On: 2000-07-16

There must be a law that puts companies like Manley away for good. I first bought their " Virtual World" game last year for my son. WHAT A DISAPOINMENT AND FRAUD THAT WAS. Now , my daughter got this piece of "Tekno" junk for her birthday. It is another TOTAL misrepresntation from the folks at Manley Toy Quest. Shame on Manley for doing this to kids. DO NOT BUY IT! by: Anonymous On: 2000-07-15
I just recieved tekno in the mail and I think that it is the greatest thing ever made. I am a 14-year old girl and my family already has 2 dogs already, but I was begging my parents for a dog that I could call my own. So, after hearing them tell me over and over that I was nuts I decided to look on the internet for a electronic dog. I came to Poochi and I was so excited it seemed worth buying so I did. When I recieved it I was surprised that it did nothing that I expected it to do. It couldnt even walk. So I went back on the internet and found tekno. I begged my parents and they finally gave in. It felt like it took forever for it to get here because I was so anxious to recieve it. My mom and I were taking it out of the package and had a very difficult time, but after I was very excited! It did everything I wanted and more. It was a better buy than Poochi. Every day Tekno wakes me up in the morning and we do his tricks and I feed him. Besides the time it takes to get Tekno out of the box, I think this is the greatest thing you could ever buy. It reacts just like a puppy and I should no since I have 2 dogs already too!
