I owned this system for only a year when it started malfunctioning. It doesnt read some DVDs and will not play CD-Rs. Its an almost excellent all-in-one system with AM/FM, cassette, DVD, remote, and surround sound. You cant find anything like it from any other brand today. This systems reliability was a major disappointment from Panasonic. On: 2001-12-11
this is a great system if space is a little tight. for an all in one it rocks (I live in an apartment) plenty of volume great clear sound.on all venues my only complaint is the directions, and the remote are a little confuseing. probly me though. my nine year old daughter doesnt seem to have any trouble On: 2000-12-31
Its a great DVD player but does play not VCDs great & cant do CDR at all. This unit does not have a caruoselchanger so you need to put in your 5 discs at the same time to use the dvd changer or interupt playback of current disc to add more discs to the changer. Also very loud when changing discs.I bought this model "open box" if you have to pay full price Id say dont buy it. I bought this DVD/CD mega system at an electronics superstore less than a year ago. For the first several months it was AWESOME. I liked it because it did everything, and it was all wrapped up in one system. However, less than two months after I bought it, the store stopped carrying it, and wouldnt tell me why. Not surprising because about four months later, it started giving me problems. Average DVDs, which would be read just fine on any other player I could find, were said to be unreadable. I get this obnoxious message telling me "this type of disc cannot be played." I found that if I opened and closed the drive enough times, it would finally read and show the movie. Now, less than a year later, I have to buy another system if I want something reliable. Never again will I fall for something that sells itself as "all in one" because if one part goes wrong, you lose the whole system. On: 2000-10-25
Overall, this is a grat deal: a 5-disc DVD changer, a dobly-digital decoder AND speaker set, all rounded up under hi-end Panasonic label. This piece of hardware may not be suitable for you more serious home-cinema buffs, but the avearage consumer will by no means be disappointed by the lack of a subwoofer. One true complaint, thou, is the (usual) 500 lines of definition: it may not show on your standard TV set, but theres a noticable (and unfortunate) difference when compared to a 720-lines player on a Panasonic TAU os Sony WEGA set. It wouldnt hurt if Panasonic equipment supported recordable CD-Roms, either.
