This is a great DVD player 3-4 years ago. Component output is crystal clear, it has digital optical output & coaxial output, and can switch between 16:9 and 4:3 video format... Lots of features.
However, nowadays, there are more affordable DVD players that play discs in more formats, CD-R, CD+R, CD RW, photos, MP3, DVD RW...
All in all, this is a great DVD player, just that its time has passed.

I have owned this player for several years and it has been a struggle. It sounds good and all, but the player hangs up quite often and freezes for no apparent reason. It seems to get confused easily if you go a little bit too fast with commands. If there is a scratch or other flaw in the DVD/CD this unit cannot overcome it (a cheap Sanyo I have does this much better). The inability to play the new formats is a very limiting factor. A friend of mine has a different model single-disc JVC DVD player it does the same thing quite often. It seems it might be a problem with the JVC logic circuitry or something else deep and fundamental.
I have had a JVC single-disc CD player for 20 years now and it is a work horse. It reads a disc slower than modern machines but I have never had a single moments trouble out of it; it has taken minor abuse VERY well (5-6 moves and setups). It will be hard to give up one day. But the JVC DVD/CD player is just not of that quality. And it is disappointing because I was expecting so much more from JVC.

After 4 years, it no longer plays dvds. one day i watched a dvd, the next day, i get a "no disc" error no matter which slide i put it in, and havent been able to get it to work since then.

I purchased this DVD several weeks ago for $50. Its not a small unit like the new ones, but it works great! It does not do some of the things like the new units do like MP3; progressive scan. BUT if your looking for a DVD; CD that gets the job done and does it very well...this is the unit to consider. It plays clear and true and it has the sound is great. I have mine hooked up to my sterio and it meets all my needs.
The three drawer system is easy to use and the remote is very easy to understand. You cant beat the JVC.

I have this DVD Player and love it !! You can play not only DVD movies, but also CDs in 3 Trays. It has so many great features, e.g. zoom, slow motion, different picture (Theater Position) modes you can adjust depending on room lighting, as well as 3D phonic sound adjustment, etc.....WOW !! You must get this !!

I love my DVD player. I like the fact that I can leave 3 DVDs in it at the same time and watch them whenever I want to. I thought the price very reasonable when you consider that it (like other DVD players) can play CDs as well. (you can leave 3 in it) I like the zoom and the multiple language functions, living in South America, I have made good use of them.Buy it and you wont regret it.

Desde que lo compre estoy muy contento , excelente calidad de audio y video,todas las funciones necesarias,la funcion de multiangulos muy buena,el zoom digital para acercar escenas estupenda, la funcion de los 3 discos es muy buena ya que si eres fanatico de las peliculas no te tienes que levantar de tu cama para cambiarla por otra ,prueben las funciones de 3d phonic y Theater position y notaran la diferencia de sonido y video de acuerdo a su gusto y todo lo demas igual.Lo que le falta es la funcion de karaoke y que sea multizona....

Overall a nice 3 DVD changer with all of the options and outputs. Great picture quality and sound. If your plan is to keep a DVD in one of the slots and music in the other 2 than this is NOT the DVD player for you for 2 reasons: 1) it doesnt play CD-Rs, 2) The repeat disc mode doesnt work well.
