My old Awia system that i purchased back in 96 was a better system. Features I didnt like on the Panasonic was the remote, which is small and the buttons are too close together. The signal is weak which require repeated pressing of buttons. The CD changer is noisy and to take out one CD you have to stop the playing CD. A carousel would have been better. Loading CDs is a task and retrieving is also difficult. And still very noisy. I dont recommed purchasing this model as there are better ones out there that can do the same job.
Incredible Mini System!     On: 2002-01-23

Panasonic has really put out a surprising system that amazes you left and right as well as behind and right in front of you too. This system offers a Dolby Pro Logic Decoder so that you can listen to your favorite cds in Dolby Surround Sound, as well as watch your favorite dvds in Dolby Surround Sound as well. The AK66 offer 5.1 surround, and has an audio input that you can plug you dvd player/playstation/nintendo/whatever into so that you can enjoy your video games in surround sound as well. There is also a 5.1 audio input cluster on the back that can be used for dvd players with the 5.1 audio out option. As an added bonus there is also an av output for a subwoofer (not included) for even more bass. Anyway this system puts out an extremely clear sound as well as loud that can fill a large room easily . Distortion in the sound is extremely rare, and very minimal if you ever encounter any. The speakers are detachable (of course), and the speaker wire that they are attached to is extremely long for a mini system (especially the rear speakers). The player has the capability of holding 5 cds, but it is extremely slow at switching between cds (thus the 4 star rating); However despite the slow swithing between cds this system is definately a great buy, and a good starter sytem. Heck this system is in my bedroom running a small home theater, and Im completely thrilled with it (Im very picky when it comes to sound quality and other things such as bass, loudness, and the like). There isnt a mini system better than this one that is in the same price category.
WoW! WoW! WoW!     On: 2002-01-05

Sweet! Im 12 years old , I dont like the kids reviews, and I was looking for a new CD player.
I already had a 27 inch panasonic TV and VCR, but I didnt think my set was complete. My former Cd system was made in 96 and Wasnt with the times. I saved up my money, went out and bought the coolest surround sound system on the market. My home theater is almost complete, I have my eye on a panasonic DVD player.
Thankyou for the collest System!
The Perfect Starter Surround System     On: 2002-01-01

I have just got this for Christmas. It includes Dolby Surround sound. Their are two base speakers, the middle speaker, and the two surround speakers. If you are looking for a mini system, then this is it. I have looked at Aiwa, Sony, and Panasonic thourghly. This one came up. $=value. If you are in college, this is it for that party. It has an auxiliary port, allowing you to hook up you VCR or DVD player. The 5 CD changer takes a while to change from CD to CD (15 seconds), but I tolerate it. You can exchange files from a CD to a Tape, good for a car without a disk player. Includes long cords and all mounting accesories needed (surround speakers go on wall like a clock, middle speaker goes on top of TV, and two base speakers on either side.) Remote control also included. 280 watt output is superb.
Good sound, lousy functionality     On: 2001-11-09

I read a bunch of reviews and tried this minisystem. The sound is very good and the price was right. It was easy to put together and looks very slick.

The funcionality is poor, though. The remote control doesnt control everything, so I find myself walking to the unit at least half the time. The CD changer is unbelievable noisy and slow! I may as well change the CDs myself. And, theres no way to tell which CD is in which spot. When my son wants to hear his blues CD, I have to cycle through all five, and several noisy minutes later I finally find it.

All in all, definitely not the way to go.

What a great system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     On: 2001-09-11

What a great system! I recently decided to purchase a nicer system for my bedroom and wow was I impressed! The sound quality is unbelievable! It is truely the nicest sound I have ever heard. With the two subwoofers, two surround speakers, and the center speaker, this thing is truely a deal! The output is great too. If anyone would like a nice system with GREAT quality for a good deal, this is the one to get. I cant tell you how wonderful it sounds with the sound eq boosted high with the volume loud! This puppy really shakes the house as well as it wipes the pants off other systems in this price range. Hope you decide on this baby!
Excellent     On: 2001-06-18

this is a great system. It has surround sound and dolby and yet it isnt [alot]. The sound is crisp and there is many eq choices. The 5 cd changer is great as well. Its the best when you hook up your PS2 to it and have the dolby going, man thats great. I recommend this system to everyone!
awesome returns for the money     On: 2001-04-22

I Just moved into my own apartment, was looking for something that will bring me satisfactory returns in my budget.

I saw this System online on Amazon. I liked it initially because of the features that you can buy...is more than expected. Also i am a person who loves checking things around. I did check and found that Philips has a similar product...

Let me tell you. Go to any store, go see any product within this price range. You will not find this sound Quality.I BET...

Check it out physically...go to any store that keeps this..if you feel like..... Youll fall in love...

If you are looking for a small Shelf system....which has "DOLBY DIGITAL SOUND" what else could you ask for .....

Notting but the
