There are better designs available...     On: 2003-03-16

This was our first digital camera and we were excited to unpack it on Christmas morning, but never warmed up to this one. It has a nice feel and theoretically, a nice design, but many of the features didnt match the documentation and didnt work the way they were supposed to, until three months later, the entire system just died. Fortunately, we purchased the camera from Dillards.com, and their excellent customer service allowed us to return the camera for a full refund, but we wont replace it with another JVC. The camera has some nutty little quirks, such as a warning not to turn the camera on with the lens cap on the lens, or youll risk serious damage to the lens mechanism. Sounds like a definite design flaw, doesnt it? JVC makes great audio equipment, but buy your camera from a manufacturer known for cameras! Good luck!
Great Camera!     On: 2002-05-29

I bought this camera while I was on a ship supporting "Operation Enduring Freedom", I wouldnt have anything else ever! I have never been disappointed with it ever. it can only use up to 64 Meg memory and using the lowest resolution it gives you 690 pictures to take. it comes with a 8 meg card so you can take 84 pictures.
Only Lasted one year     On: 2002-04-03

I purchased this camera exactly one year ago last week and the LCD screen went out. I called the local JVC repair and was told that it would be around 400.00 to repair(way not worth it). The pictures were decent while it lasted but I did not like the design and it was difficult to use.
good image quality/price

This camera takes exellent pictures indoors and outdoors. I have printed out 8x10 pictures without editing, they come out very nice and with help of a photo editing software, the pictures are the best Ive seen in 8x10 size. Compared to same size photos from Kodak 4900 (4 MP) the pictures from JVC are a lot better (using the same printer). Im using Windows XP, have no problem downloading to computer (very fast).
Im returning it though due to missing battery.
Nice camera with plenty of features     On: 2002-03-16

This camera takes excellent photos, and has a lot of nice features, especially for manual settings. It comes with an 8 MB SmartMedia card, so plan on moving up to 32 or 64 MB (max). Also, the battery does not last very long, especially when the LCD is on. An extra battery is essential, and costs around sixty dollars. Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase.
shots are nice, but don't expect too much...     On: 2002-02-08

I bought it since the 3+ megapixel and the relatively low price is enticing. Admittedly, the picture quality is not bad. But the battery runs out in a couple of minutes if you turn the LCD on. Dont expect it will do any better with the LCD off, as the body of the camera will always be warm (hot?) as you turn on the power. Its not bad for your hands in the winter days. But how can I endure it as the battery will die in less than one hour, or after you take 10 or 15 pictures? Be aware that the retail price for the rechargable battery is no less than ... bucks!
Excellent product in a small package (& price)!     On: 2001-07-21

This is an excellent camera from JVC! It takes pictures in 6 formats (up to 2048x1024), stores the images in smartmedia cards (so you can store the pictures of a whole vacation in different cards) up to 128MB and you can download to a PC/Mac by USB (piece of cake!). If ...your intentions are just catching family and friends at a REASONABLE price: dont look any further! this is IT!
