You think its good until its gone bad     On: 2003-05-23

I bought this cd player before reading reviews from other places saying that the sreen quit working after a while. I thought it was all good because it never happened until i got back onto the bus one day. Its gone, i took it apart and theres nothing you can do. ...
No Love     On: 2003-01-07

Manual very limiting. I brought my daughter this for Christmas, it was a nightmare trying to find compatible MP3 files that would actually work with the player. MP3 files that worked find on several different pcs on a cd-r disc wouldnt work with this player. No web support found, this was a disaster.
TOO SMALL
by: Anonymous    On: 2002-06-12

I bought this cd player last week and when it came in the mail i was shocked by its size. It DOSNT PLAY NORMAL SIZE CDS "WARNING!!!"
Not good, Not bad     On: 2002-06-03

I bought this a few weeks ago and thought I got what I paid for. The belt pouch that it comes with has no holes to access the buttons, but it fits easily into my back pocket and a little more conspicuously into my front. It doesnt come with a burning program, but Id been meaning to buy one anyway. Theres a slight buzz in the background when I use my earphones, (Labtec curve 465), but its not too noticeable if you listen to fast paced music, (AC/DC, Metallica, Ozzy, etc.)and you get used to it to the point of tuning it out after a while. Once in a while the buttons get bumped, which would make some kind of hold function a plus, were it equipped with one. I listen to music hours on end while Im going through my daily routine and noticed that the battery life is a little lacking. The search function is impressive, but somewhat unnecessary unless you burn your CDs at an excessively low bit rate. All of this was expected however, and Im not upset in the least upset about it. I am upset that the LCD screen just quit on me without cause. Apparently this is a fairly common occurrence and Im hoping that it can be repaired.
LOVELY :)     On: 2002-06-03

...

Saw this at circuit city for ... bucks .. I thought .. well at 50 bucks it is worth a try.

Review .. This is awesome !... Im burning 192+ kbps music, for ... bucks, you get a nice mp3 player (lcd could be better, the only drawback though) and yea it is small, I can put it in my jeans pocket, adapter, 3 cdrs, a case, and a decent set of headphones, though I wanna get one of those noise cancelling headphones eventually. The sound quality is very very decent.

I havent had any hanging/skipping problems and Ive used this unit for about 1 week now (heavily).

For 50$, Id say .. YES YES .. and .. OH YESSS !! This is a no brainer :).

Too large
by: Anonymous    On: 2002-05-29

I almost bought this player, until I actually saw it and it was much larger than I expected. Almost the size of a regular CD player.
Good for the money, I guess     On: 2002-05-25

Every time I purchase a new electronic toy, I tell myself not to buy the no-name brand. Then, without fail, I buy the no-name brand (for price, or features, or both). In every instance, I get burnt, wishing I had bought for quality instead.
With that said, Im really not sure what to think about this little guy. It plays perfectly, seems genuinely skip-free, and has some pretty nice features. BUT. . . Ive gone through three units because the LCD screen rarely works, and the ID3-tag scrolling is almost too slow to be useful.
For the money, this is quite the value. If youre thinking about buying one and youre worried about price, go ahead and do it--as long as youre not anticipating a useful LCD. If, however, you can afford something else, buy from someone you can trust.
Bad LCD     On: 2002-05-22

I have the same problem as Joe. I bought this from Circuit City. The same night I bought it, the LCD starts messing up. First it gives me upside down invert text, other times, it gives me Big test where I can not read it right. I exchanged that one. This one dose not have the same problem with the LCD. This problem causes the LCD to not show up at all. It plays great but I want to be able to change to different songs. I can not change to different songs if I can not see the options.
Where in Europe     On: 2002-05-14

Where can i get this C Mp3 Player in Europe ( in Spain for example)?
almost there     On: 2002-05-06

i really think that 3" mp3 cd players are an almost ideal mp3 player as they can be quite small and quite inexpensive, but ive had three of this model so far and all have had the LCD either be defective right out of the box or within two days of use. plus it would be nice if this player was a little smaller. but unlike a full-size portable cd player, this fits in your pocket quite well. and 3" cds are quite a bit cheaper than virtually any other form of memory expansion, and cd-rw discs work great. the skip protection seems ok, but it would be nice to have a hold option so that you dont accidentally bump the player and affect the play. the pouch with belt clip is nice, but i would rather have a clip as part of the player as i dont generally wear an actual belt. i cant wait to find the right 3" mp3 cd player, but without a working LCD, this one is not quite it.
Classic CM800 Great Deal     On: 2002-05-04

I just bought one of these little gems, and wish I had sooner. It is a great buy, you will not be disappointed. I read the other reviews, and the one regarding the player as a fluke, well it must have been just that, because this is a real gem. Plenty of volume, easy to operate, and the display is real cool, it shows musician/artists name, and also the name of the song when it plays the mini-cd. Took me 12 minutes to burn 1 hours worth of music in MP3 format to a mini-disc. I did this just to test it. I am please beyond words. The only drawbacks, which also were mentioned in another review is that the display is not illuminated. Not a big deal to me, and also like the other person said, an illuminated display sucks up the battery. Also, the headsets are adequate, but for those who are fussy, you can buy another headset. I didnt buy this thing to see it glow in the dark, or for the headsets. Well worth the money, go get one. And no, I do not own stock in the company, I am just very pleased with the player. Comes with Case, 3 mini-cds, headset, and AC supply, all you need is batteries to use it portable.
Great little player!     On: 2002-04-17

This little device was a lot better than I thought itd be. Tried out a few others before I got this - even imported a few players from oversees - and none of them can touch this little beauty. For the price, it just cant be beat. I just feel a little stupid for not coming across this great product sooner than I did. Comes with AC adaptor, headphones (though you might wanna use your own for better sound), carrying pouch, nice little simple manual and 3 blank mini CD-Rs. Sounds great, DBBS works well, NO skips, bleeps, or glitches whatsoever (even while snowboarding), boots and loads up whole mp3 mini CDs quickly and efficiently (including various bitrates), and only about 1-2 seconds of pause between each song. Reads and navigates directories easily, displays (scrolling!) ID3 v1 and v2 tags and long filenames flawlessly, even displays bitrates and compression rates too. Batteries last well over 8 hours too (rechargeable NimH ones anyway), probably because the disc is almost NEVER spinning. It just loads up chunks of your song into its 120 second anti-skip cache then plays from there till it has to retrieve more chunks from the disc. Its also solidly built and small, you can just feel that its gonna last a while. It even displays "Hello" when you turn it on and "Good bye" when you turn it off! Not backlit, but who cares - itd just drain your batteries faster. Cant say enough good things about this player, what a difference it was from the last player I had. Get it while you can!
Great little player
by: Anonymous    On: 2002-04-10

If you dont mind burning your own mp3 cds, this is the player for you. Its small size make it very easy to carry around and the 120 sec skip protection works very well. The day after I got it, I attached the included case to my belt and worked out in the garden for several hours without a single skip. The mini-cds hold about three albums worth of music ripped at 128Kbps. They cost less than fifty cents a piece and I like their size. They have the CM800 at Circuit City for 59.00 and I dont see how you can go wrong.

When you burn your CDs just make sure you use Mode 1, although you can have the long file names. Dont do multi-session, or the disk cant be read. Burn it disk-at-once at no more than 8x. These settings work for me.

Great Deal! Wonderful Product!     On: 2002-02-23

I just purchased this little MP3-CD player at Circuit City and am very impressed with it! Im not sure why the other reviewer had problems with his, maybe it was defective. The 120 second skip protection works great - this player will not skip even if you turn it off.

For the price, it blows away the competition.

XLNT, 4hrs on little pocket CD-Rs, Xlnt quality     On: 2002-01-02

This is a GREAT little MP3 player. Those tiny little CDs hold about 4 hours of MP3 music! The sound quality is great. For better volume, use your own headphones though - the ones that come with them are a bit low on volume.
Compared to other full-size CD MP3 players, this tiny little guy is sure nice!
Batteries last about 8 hrs. There is even a LCD window where you see the songs, can scroll through them, play em all or program your favorites.
The 3 CDs that come with it give you about 12 hrs playing time (theyre blank - you need a CD Writer to put the music on em.
For the money, I cant find a better deal anywhere. Compared to many a bit more expensive - THIS is the one Id recommend.
120 seconds anti-shock is pretty cool too. I hope you enjoy yours as much as Im enjoying mine!
What you get is what you paid for.     On: 2001-12-11

I just got it from Circuit City and I discovered that this MP3 player is worthless...
The mp3 decoder hangs very often. So you need to remove the batteries to "reset it". The button used as Play/Stop turns unusable when hangs.
The functions included are helpful specifically searching thru directories for a file name (When you are lucky and the player decides to work).
Basicly, if you look for a piece of hardware that will give you the pleasure to listen to your MP3 files, definetely THIS IS NOT THE ONE!!!

Save your money and try another one!!!
