This was a staight replacement for an old pair that had lasted over 8 years outside in the Florida climate. The grill went rusty after 7 years but the case was still looking perfect.
Sound quality is excellent without being too hard on your wallet. I will be buying another pair of these when the climate gets to this pair in another 8 years. On: 2008-03-31
Ive been using these as rear channel speakers in my (indoor) den, so theyre really not supposed to be cranking out much sound back there, and they do just fine in this role. I cant comment on how well they would do as a main set of speakers. Theyre a more substantial size than most speakers that are labeled as surround speakers, so they can generate a fuller range of sound. The included wall-mount brackets work great, although Im not able to point one of them as far to the side as I would like, due to the design of the bracket. They allow maybe 45 degrees of angle to the right or 45 degrees to the left, which is probably fine for most setups. They also allow to tilt up or down a good amount. These speakers are definitely "off-white", appearing to be about halfway between the white crown moulding and the cream-colored walls in my den, which worked out well for my wife! On: 2007-07-23
Very happy with the quality of the sound. Great sound for a good price. As far as durability, too soon to tell. by: Anonymous On: 2007-05-07
The JBL speakers did not perform anywhere close to my expectations. Given then they are bookshelf speakers I was not expecting concert hall quality, but they produced a tinny sound with weak top and bottom ranges. The old speakers they were to replace were far superior. I returned them the next day.
I had always been pleased with JBL products, but these speakers do not meet the traditional standards of JBL products. On: 2007-05-06

I purchased a pair of these speakers for the surrounds in a 5.1 channel living room system. I mounted the speakers slightly above ear level on the back wall, behind the couch, facing forward.
These are very good direct-radiating speakers for the money. They are not too big and fairly lightweight. They will blend into your white/off-white wall. The included wall brackets mounted easily and securely into the wall studs (you need to buy your own screws). The mounting brackets allows a great deal of aiming adjustments.
I have not seen any measurements for this speaker, however I did not hestitate to buy it. I have not heard anything other than neutrality, and I have full confidence in JBL as well as all Harman International brands. Harman has the most sophisticated measurement and testing facilities in the United States (if not the world), and they design speakers based on science. Trained listeners then evaluate the speakers in blind tests where the speakers are repeatedly rotated in and out of position behind a screen. Im not saying these particular JBL speakers were so tested, but the point is that you can be sure you are buying a quality loudspeaker--even when it is a satellite speaker that embodies numerous compromises. For example, Harman manufactures the speakers drivers in house. Such economies of scale allow them to offer a high quality product with which smaller manufacturers simply cannot compete.
A nice feature of these speakers and all JBL consumer speakers I believe, is the waveguide around the tweeter. Essentailly a horn, this improves horizontal directivity beyond the stereo sweetspot.
Again, I have mounted these speakers indoors and cannot comment on their weather resistance.
In summary, I would not hesitate to recommend these speakers to someone for an application similar to mine where room size, budget, and spousal acceptance preclude larger rear surounds. by: Anonymous On: 2007-03-20
I installed these speakers last weekend and we love them. The sound is crystal clear with plenty of base. by: Anonymous On: 2007-01-04

I went to Best Buy to test all the outdoor speakers in person, and these did better than the BOSE and other high end brands. These are the best speakers for the money. They have great high and mid range sound, but lack much bass, which is to be expected with most outdoor speakers with speakers smaller than 4". If you have the money ($400+) go with the Klipsch speakers. These are the best alternative. On: 2006-07-06
Received speakers with no trouble at all. Sound quality is excellent. Installation was quite easy. Would definitely order from WholesaleAV again. On: 2006-05-27
I had a chance to listen to these little speakers at a friends house and I liked them very much. They had distinctive high ends that could only be found from JBL speakers. The midrange was pretty smooth and clear but obviously there was not much bass from the small 4" drivers. Because of their flexible on-wall mounting/positioning and since each of them also has a 3/4" Titanium-laminate tweeter as the E-series speakers, I planned to buy a pair of them to use as surround back speakers in my 7.1 speaker system which consists of all E-series speakers. However, when I contacted JBLs technical supports, I was told that the N24AWIIs were very close timbre-match but not perfect match for the E-series speakers and that I would better use the E10s instead if I wanted perfect tonal match for my speaker system. I think I will get the E10s but the E10s cant be mounted on the wall as easily and as flexibly as the N24AWII. On: 2006-03-23
I use these speaker for surrounds in my 5.1 Home Theater system, they are paired with JBL E30 front satellites, JBL E C35 center, JBL E 250P sub, and a Yamaha RX-V767 AV receiver/amp.
Great highs - treble is detailed, clear and crisp, midbass is punchy for 4" woolfer, and the midrange is clear and clean; imaging is also good. I have a JBL E250 sub and have not listened to these on their own (full range) so I dont know about bass response/output.
I bought these to match (timbre) the rest of JBL Northridge E speakers in my 5.1 surround system and becuase of the off-white color to make them blend in more with walls/celling, plus they come with mounting hardware. These make great surround sound speakers if you have other JBL speakers or not.
Bottom line - These speakers sound good, look good (indoors or out), and are easy to mount. A great buy. On: 2004-02-27
These speakers are true to my past experience with JBL : fabulous sound with crisp highs, rich midtones, and tight bass (for their size-- you can always add a subwoofer). I think theyre the best value out there in bookshelf and compact home theater speakers. And as a bonus, they look really cool with a nice grill design and sleek white finish. The material and build quality is very high-- much better than average. If you want some great compact speakers for home or even for a portable setup, with full sonic clarity, these are the deal. . These speakers deliver a clear, crisp, and vibrant sound, with a richness expected of a higher-end speaker. I would recommend these to anyone interested in a good-quality sound but keeping an eye on price.
