AWE-inspiring! Incredible sound!     On: 2004-03-18

I purchased a pair of these speakers with a JBL 12" sub and Ill have to say that my music never sounded so good. The resolution and presence is incredible!
As for movies, the depth charges in U-571 just about blew out our windows.
Great speakers at an incredible value!

These are by far the best speakers for the money. I paid $450 for the pair delivered and they sound incredible. I have the all JBL Studio series speakers running through an Onkyo 701 home theater receiver -- what a combinaton. They sound great for both movies and music! I highly recommend these speakers.
Phenomenal Speakers for this price piont...     On: 2004-01-10

The clarity and definition of the sound from these speakers is favorable over most anything at this price piont. You may even be able to find these for a little less if you search around online. The build and construction is top notch and each speakers comes in at around 50lbs. I do suggest that you purchase a separate sub in order to get that room shaking base youd want in a quality home theater. The base is adequate for basic easy listening but doesnt catch the awe-inspiring "thump" that youd want in some of your favorite action movie soundtracks. But pair these up with an effective sub and youre in for pure audio enjoyment. If youre looking to eliminate the sub option, you might want to look at getting the S412 with a 200-watt powered woofer section.
Good Value     On: 2003-11-23

I was pleased with the sound from these speakers. I only give 4 stars because the screen is flimsy and the plactic prongs break easy. JBL is not very customer friendly, but the price is right. I bought 2 of these for $510. Suggest you look around online.
Boom!!!     On: 2003-07-09

I have the studio surround system with the s312II mains, studio center, and s38 surrounds. It sounds great together, and anyone who purchases these towers will not be disappointed; they rock! Ive been eyeing this line for a couple years when the original s312s came out and they were always outside my budget. Now I finally have them, and I couldnt be happier.

I dont care what anybody says about HTIBs with their tiny satellite speakers. Do it right and get the big guys. These speakers have a real presence, and are super-heavy duty. Another bonus is that they have a high sensitivity rating so for guys like me with a 70Wx5 yamaha receiver they are still louder than you need. ~Cheers!

wow !!! Great speakers worth every cent.     On: 2003-04-02

Excellent product.
The speakers are beautiful. The sound is simply amazing. Bass is adequate, you can turn up the volume as high as you want and the sound will still be crystal clear. I have the S312II 2002 model and I got it in 2003. Nothing I can point out which is lacking.
I looked at paradigm, i liked the monitor 9 s but they are two way and they would have been [alot more] with shielding. Not worth it when you compare the price and sound quality from these. They give you music as you would desire and how the composer meant it to be heard.

I thought about buying the black but then went with Cherry. The cherry is a beautiful shade and matches with my family room decor. Wife is happy (rarely happens with electronics I buy) and she immediately put flower baskets on each (UUgh but gotta live there).

Do not go for tiny home theater speakers you see in stores. I do not care what brand you get, they can never compare to the sound from these babies.

I will be getting a JBL center channel and surrounds soon to replace my aging current speakers. I like what these guys do. You do not need a subwoofer with these. invest the money on a good receiver.

Great Big Sound!     On: 2003-03-01

I love these towers! I purchased them along with the S38s as surrounds and the S center speaker. If you want to fill your listening room with great and powerful sound, you cant go wrong with a pair of these efficient speakers. I have a Sony ES STR-V444ES, 120 watts a channel receiver to power these speakers, and I still cant crank it even half way up without the floor shaking and the windows rattling, so you can just imagine what a good cd sounds like or a dvd with lots of action. My neighbor even said that he could hear a movie I was watching one day, now thats what I call power! If you havent tested these speakers, test them out before you decide on more expensive ones, you will not be disappointed!
Don't purchase from Dynadirect     On: 2003-02-11

Speaker is a good one, and worth the money if you purchase from a reputable seller. Dynadirect has proven themselves untrustworthy as they have not responded to my numerous requests to them for resolution of getting smaller speakers since 11/2002. It is now 2/2003. Dont take the chance, buy from someone else.
Superb sounding speaker.

Many people, unfortunately, make the mistake -- often encouraged by a sales person -- of spending more money for electronic components than for speakers. But the most important components for determining the sound of an audio system are the speakers. And in the world of superb-sounding speakers JBL currently is the king. The S312 II is a great speaker with clean, sweet highs, natural-sounding midrange and clean, deep bass. There is no speaker at this price which sounds as good. If you feel that you must have a lower price, I recommend the JBL S310 II which drops the woofer size from 12" to 10" But either way, if you want great sound, get JBL speakers -- preferable the S series.
