Good TV with excellent picture, hook up a progressive scan dvd player and it dosnt get any better. One thing to mention, this tv is advertised here and alot of other places as having a DVI input, IT DOES NOT. Hopefully this will change.

While this product is hailed for its glowing performance in clarity and picture (possessing 1280 horizontal scan lines) and Hitachi being a fine company - I think I should point out to those wary of statistical accuracy that it is listed here as having "DVI-HDCP input" but the downloadable owner manual listed directly below the aforementioned feature clearly shows the 43FWX20B model specifically as not being equipped with the "DVI-HDCP input."
As I have stated, the television is a statistical heavyweight in its class of rear-projection HDTVs but the DVI connection information is critical for those who are looking for that specific feature.

As a former salesman of big screens, this one is easily tied for my favorite with the Mitsubishi 46" HDTV widescreen. Mitsubishi has an edge on color and lighting, Hitatchi has the edge on clarity and overall realism due to the most lenses on the market.
First off, this TV is complex, yet simple. Plenty of features and inputs, but simple enough for anyone to use. The Magic focus is a great example. Hit one button and the TV automatically sets the convergence.
Next is the size. One needs to know the stand built for this TV sells seperatly...so thats one thing to consider before you buy. If you get the stand, youll quickly notice how much easier it is moving a two piece system into your home instead of a solid one piece TV.
While small in comparision to a lot of HDTVs on the market, this TV still looks huge once you get it into your home. And with the quality of the picture, youll be glad you didnt get a larger TV for the same price from some lower quality brand.
Ill admit, sound isnt the greatest. But if youre buying an HDTV, you should be investing in surround sound anyways.
Another huge feature this TV has that most brands dont is an auto refresh not found on earlier models and other brands. Basically, if youre watching something in 4:3 mode with bars on the side, the TV automatically refreshes the bars constantly so that they dont get burned into the screen. Its constant too so you dont even notice.
Overall, this is a great buy. Compare it to the Mitsubishi. Decide which is better for you. I can guarentee you wont be disappointed.

Man oh man...It took me weeks and weeks of research to finally plunk down the money for a Rear Projection set and I am glad that I waited. This Hitachi set is just spectacular!!! Picture is awesome, features are awesome, everthing about it is awesome! hehe

I have had this tv for about 2 weeks now and love it too death. The picture is excellent and the sound is strong. I find myself with the volume bar on around 23 out of 60.This was not my first choice, the Sony 46wt500 was but after my wife saw the Hitachi she persuaded me to change my mind and after reviewing the specs she helped me make the right choice. Go out and buy today. Remember these reviews dont mean much until you see it in your house and CC helps because you have 30 days to return it if you dont like it.

When shopping for a High Def monitor I was limited to those in this size range due to space constraints. This set has the best picture of any rear projection set I looked at in this range. The "magic focus" does a great job of setting convergence. The viewing range is good horizontally, is a bit restricted vertically but not unduly so. Colors are spot on, clarity is excellent and there are plenty of inputs including two wideband component. The Virtual HighDef function for NTSC signals is not bad, but you will need a strong signal or else youll notice picture quality shortcomings. The remote is well laid out and easy to use with quick access to input selections. It did NOT have built in codes that would drive my DVD or VCR (JVC), but my universal remote did a fair job of taking on the Hitachi functions. Some of the zoom modes are useful, the best being 4:3 expanded- it zooms around the edges of the picture to fill your screen and help prevent burnin. Though it takes a little getting used to the tendency for people to become thin and then fat as they walk off the edge of the screen... if you choose to watch 4:3 in vertical letterbox you can select either gray or black bars. No such choice in non-anamorphic widescreen mode- bars are black. Built in speakers are fair but Id guess nearly anyone buying a set of this type has an audio system already so this is not a big deal. Ive run my center channel through the "mono" connection so can either use my center channel speaker, the TV speaker or both for more volume. So far no quality issues!

We really enjoy the definition and versitility of this tv.

This is my first plunge into "projection" tvs. Once I saw the hitachi I read all I could on it. Hitachi makes 67% of all the guns used in porjection televisions, and it shows with this set.
I couldnt be more pleased. The sound quality is lacking some what, but hook it up to your stereo or surround sound and just sit back and enjoy what this set does well, and that is produce picture quality that is many cases is better than sets costing 1k more.
I shopped and got an excellent price [money] That included the set, stand, 5yr. warranty & free delivery. With a little effort youll save tons of ....
Ive only had it in house for three days, but Im in love. Go
try it out, youll love it too. I especially love the split screen PIP.
