Great Item. Cant beat the price for a great sounding speaker. Even plays great outside.
Atrium 45     On: 2008-05-13

These are excellent speakers although I wish I had bought the 55s due to large back yard.
Great and dependable speakers.     On: 2008-04-22

The number one plus for me; these speakers have been sitting on my deck, rain, shine, snow for 3 years and still working great.

-Great sound
-Decent looks. Simple style so it is easy to match with many landscape.
-Reasonable price. Outdoor speakers are generally expensive
-Easy installation
-Yoke is adjustable to direct the speakers at some angles

Tip: I think it will be a good idea to weatherproof the contacts of the speaker wires to the speaker connections with something like a silicon sealant. The connections got a little corroded due to the elements and I have to cut the tip of the wires to expose the new copper and reconnect.

What can I say - these are styly, compact, solid, etc, etc, gush gush.
Dont hold back - have a party outside today !!
Great hot tub speakers     On: 2008-01-12

We use these on our outside hot tub and they sound awesome. A lot of water and snow has fallen on them and they still sound great. Were going to buy another pair.
Great price for good speakers     On: 2007-12-21

These speakers are solid and hefty, sound is crisp and my music sounds like it should, especially in the vocal range. They are a bit on the large size for mounting out of sight, but their look is clean and attractive.
Only flaw Ive noticed is when the bass is emphasized they get boomy pretty quick. As long as you keep the bass tone flat, you can crank them up and they show little distortion. They are a bargain for casual listening on your porch or patio.
Sound Great and Made Exceptionally Well     On: 2007-08-10

We purchased these speakers for our outdoor pool area. They were installed in the corners of a covered porch area approximately 12 by 8. The sound is clean and surprisingly loud. They are powered by a denon receiver and get about 50 watts per channel. We also installed an in-wall volume control knob outside to adjust the volume without going inside. Picked it up at Radio Shack for $35, and well worth the money for the additional convienence. In my opinion, unless youre neighbors are x-rockstars or driving distance away, these speakers are all you need for an outdoor patio/pool area. Great product!
Great Speakers at Amazing Value     On: 2007-08-02

These speakers are perfect for outdoors and has much better performance than I expected. What I read/heard from other reviewers is true.
It has very good volume and bass response.

The sound quality is exceptionally good in an outdoor environment. Mounting and installation was very easy.
Speakers & Perturbed Neighbors     On: 2007-07-23

I absolutely LOVE these speakers! The sound quality is fantastic! I know my neighbors were a tad bit upset the day these speakers arrived. I cranked up the music so high... Aretha, Amy Winehouse, Al Green et al. came through with such clarity, I felt like I was front row at a concert. I plan to buy another pair.

Good solid speakers

I put these speakers in an outdoor pool area. The mounting brackets are solid and allow you to rotate the speakers for the optimal listening position.

Im not an audio expert but the sound quality and construction are decent and certainly worth the price I paid ($110). I have indoor, floorstanding Polk speakers for my home theater. The fact that they have been great has led me to stick with Polk until its proven to me that there is something better out there (at least in this price range).

I installed my Polk Speakers this afternoon in my patio. I could not be more pleased as they have an exceptional tone. The sound coming out of these speakers is just awesome. I started playing some music, turned up the volume and the wife asked me to dance. Geez....

So guys, get ready to shake a leg after you install these babies.

Im glad to have made this choice!

The Polk Audio Atruim 45s are by far the best outdoor speakers for the money bar none. Do your research and you come up with the same conclusion.

I purchased two Polk Atrium 45 speakers previously.... was so happy with the sound, I purchased two more.. these are all in a cabin on my 30 sailboat... dampness is the enemy.... these speakers way outperform the indoor Bose I had used previously. I have about $3,000 worth of Polk Speakers in my home system.... they are phenomal..... highly recommend Polk.
High quality outdoors speakers     On: 2007-02-14

A very well made pair of speakers. Easy to install under eaves. Plenty of power handling ability and strong bass. My other speakers are B&W, Rega, REL & Dynaudio.
excellent sounding outdoor speakers     On: 2006-11-11

I couldnt be more satisfied with my Polk Atrium 45 outdoor speakers. We hung two speakers outside for music on our patio. The speakers are positioned under the roof overhang. Being black, you can barely see them there and they are sheltered from the weather. They are fed from a small CD/DVD/reciever in our living room. The sound is excellent. If you cant hide these speakers somewhat, they may be a bit big. If you can tuck them away somewhere, you cant lose. Great purchase.
Surprisingly good speakers for an outdoor space     On: 2005-11-27

I bought a pair of these a couple of years ago from Crutchfield for just under $200. We had a back porch with outdoor fireplace built onto the house and wanted to have music without having to use a portable stereo boombox. I had some unused stereo equipment available so I ran some long lengths of speaker cable from the den to the roof beam of the porch. I started out trying to utilize a pair of small bookshelf speakers I had on hand but they sounded dreadful out there. I went shopping for some "made-for-the-outside" speakers and the Polks looked like they would fit the bill.

I wasnt expecting much from these speakers, in all honesty. Trying to get good sound in such an open place was not something I thought to be possible. I was wrong.

These are great little speakers and they put out a lot of sound for their size. The backyard in a city residential area is not the place to listen to the dynamic range in symphonies or operas, but popular music comes across extremely well. Despite the small woofer, theres a good deal of bass reproduction here. For more bass, Polk makes some larger outdoor speakers but the 45s are less obtrusive than larger speakers would be for my application.

I have the speakers mounted under the shelter of the porch roof so I cant comment on how weather-proof they are for the long run. They have survived two years of some record high temperatures, some below-freezing temperatures and a lot of extreme humidity without a problem. If you mount them in the sun and the rain and the snow, Im sure they will have a shorter life.

I highly recommend these speakers if you have an outdoor-living space where you would like to listen to music.
