Any thing which is in round shape will play     On: 2004-07-15

Hi
this is very good product. This is compact and very easy to use. One great advantage is this will play any thing under the sun which is in round shape :-)(only media) good to have one.
sneaky

you may think this is the whole package but look carefully theres no screen! i was almost fooled by this until one of my friends set the record straight. you have to have your own screen thats why its so cheap there are way better ones out there the only reason i put one star is because they dont allow zero stars this is the worst product eva believe me i know!
Rotten Product and Service     On: 2004-02-14

I got this as a gift for Xmas. At first, when playing a DVD, it would just stop in the middle of the DVD and you would have to reload the DVD and fast forward to the part. After two months, it will not play DVDs at all -- the screen just says "DVD Open" even when it is closed, and impossible to get it to work. When you try to call the warranty number shipped with the DVD for Argus Electronics, the number is out of order. When you try to return the gift on Amazons Return Center, there is apparently a bug on the site (have been trying to return it for over a week) and the return options for a gift do not appear. All in all, this has been a nightmare!
Solid DVD Player     On: 2004-01-01

Bought this player for my girlfriend over a year ago and never had any problems of any kind. I have had no issues with commercial DVDs or burned VCDs, and the player plays my Memorex DVD-Rs burned on a Panasonic LF-D521 at 2x with Bs Recorder Gold flawlessly. This has been the most consistant player I or my family have owned including name brand players that cost twice as much
Owned it for a year

Ive had this model for a year now. No major problems. We watch 5-10 dvds per month. Works great for the price.
Prism DVD Player
by: Anonymous    On: 2003-10-23

I bought the prism dvd player about a month ago. I liked it because it lights up blue (so does my phone, and my stereo)But it doesnt play all movies. Or sometimes it would read "No Disc", then you have to open and reclose the player, sometimes you have to do it a few times, it will either play or it wont.
Over all, it has played more movies than not. I do like the player, but if you like to watch DVDs all the time, you might want to pick another player.
cool looking!     On: 2003-10-23

This is a very cool looking and space efficient dvd player, especially if you dont have the traditional home theatre shelving in which all the equipment is identical and fits in a slim shelf. This can sit out and look cool. It works as well as all normal dvd players and is good enough for average user.

There are 2 rather key problems though. First, there is no display to tell you what track or where you are in the movie. Since this plays cds I bought it as a cd player too, but you can never tell what track youre on. The second thing is this keeps the cd spinning as long as its on. you have to shut it off to stop that.

If these arent problems, it definately works fine and looks cool.

Works sometimes
by: Anonymous    On: 2003-09-02

I purchased this as a gift for my parents and this thing is very fickle. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. And it doesnt matter what DVD you play it will never work the same. I would not purchase this item again.
fickle DVD player     On: 2003-08-22

Often isnt able to play DVDs that Ive owned for sometime and new ones right out of the jewel case. Cant understand why this is occuring and to make matters worse, phone provided with manual is no longer in service and the web-site no longer exists as well. Piece of crap, if you ask me,
Odd-looking but plays great!
by: Anonymous    On: 2003-07-30

Someone gave me this player as a gift two years ago, and when I saw it I thought it looked rather strange. But Ive never had any problems with it; it plays DVDs, MP3s, CD-RWs, etc., even VCDs just fine. If youre on a budget and need a small space-saver thats dependable and can play most anything, this is definitely one to consider.
ok so far...up until just now     On: 2003-07-14

I got this dvd player and was worried about the other reviews others had left. But nevertheless I bought it anyway and it works just fine. No problems at all, small and I cant see what what the other reviewers were talking about. Some other reviewer talked about downloading something from some website, which I couldnt find at all in the instruction manual. Although, just now I put in Rocky Horror Picture Show and it starts to work, then the CD stops spinning, spins again for a minute then stops, like the DVD player is struggling. I dont believe Im having the same problem with other DVDs. Well if the system gets messed up the first thing I will do is change this review so nobody buys a bad DVD-player. Oh and Ive had it about 2 weeks now. Good luck with this thing, remember if you get it and its messed up, you can always send it back.
Great little player     On: 2003-07-07

We had two major needs - one for compactness, and one for the capacity to play many different formats. This little player more than met my expectations, and as a bonus, I found it immediately easy to use. Even if you have no experience setting up equipment, the instructions are clear, and youll find you can carry this little unit from place to place and get it ready to go in seconds. We originally got it for a guest room, but Ive used it in the kitchen and garage as well. Everyone in our family is very pleased with it.
What a great item!

Words cannot express how pleased I am with this purchase. This small unit isnt missing any of the bells and whistles of its larger counterparts. From opening the box to popping in my first DVD, the set-up took 4 minutes maximum! I am so pleased. This unit is more or less ready to go out of the box. You wont even need to buy batteries for the remote. I highly recommend this product!
awsome player!

We love this compact size DVD player. It may be small, but it plays just as well as the larger and more expensive models. I bought this player for my daughter (a college student) for her birthday. She loved it! It was small and easy to hook up to her TV--She didnt even read the directions! Her friends were impressed with the unit and they watched lots of movies! (wonder when they had time to study!) One reviewer stated that it worked good at first and then they started having problems. She has not had any problems--so far. Maybe they got a bad unit. Its great to take on vacations because of its small size and easy hook-up. No need to rent movies at the hotels(at $ per movie)when this is so easy to bring along with you! I will probably be buying more of these units as my other children head off to college. We are thoroughly impressed with this player!

This is a great dvd player, especially for the money. BUT, IT IS NOT READY TO PLAY OUT OF THE BOX! You have to go to the cyberhome.com websight and burn two disks from their download section. It is pretty easy to do. Follow the instructions and play the burned cds and all the problems past reviewers had will go right away. It is small and plays everything you can think of once set up correct.
Perfect DVD player for my bedroom.     On: 2003-04-30

I love the design of this DVD player. I needed something to play my DVDs and my VCDs, and this product does exactly that. It also plays CDs and MP3s as stored as files on a regular CD-R. It does not show a slide show of photos when you insert a CD with photo files on it, but, to me this product is still well worth the price.
Don't waste your time     On: 2003-03-07

Theres a lot to like about this DVD player - its very portable and comes with a box/packaging that makes it easy to pack up and take with you. The features are comparable to much higher priced players. However, now the bad news. The player functioned well the first couple of times I used it but its performance has steadily gone down hill. You put a disk in and it spins and spins and cant read it and will then say "no disk". Frequently, if you try to shut the power off at the unit or with the remote to restart it, it will NOT EVEN POWER DOWN. You end up having to unplug it to cut the power. I have taken "problem disks" to my other DVD player which is an inexpensive Sony unit and the disks play without a hitch. Stay away from this unit. All the portability and functions in the world cant compensate for a DVD player that cant even play disks.
OLD Technology     On: 2003-02-16

First you will notice that they were all made in 2001. It runs on this huge Dc converter, and it tends to heat up. The remote is not universal compatable so you have to use their remote only, does not even have a "floating" screen saver to protect tv from burn in.
KEEP AWAY FROM THIS UNIT.....My stop playing on the 3rd DVD.
You pay for what you get
by: Anonymous    On: 2003-01-23

Ok lets be real...this is a cheap dvd player...very cheap...you cant really exspect 2get a lot out of it...i had got it for my dad for xmas...it lasted about a month..then when he was watching "minority report" it wouldnt play pass the part where tom cruise is going in the train...it just froze up then it started skipping on other movies i played...the movie had just came out of the package so it was not like the disk was damaged. It could of just been my unit that was defective...buy it and try it...if it dont work just send it back.
Nice little piece of work     On: 2003-01-19

I bought this unit because it looks cool, and was small and the right price. However, like a previous reviewer, upon hooking it up, I got the "no disc" message. So, I hopped on over to the manufacturers web site for tech support and found a few downloads for updating the bios and firmware. These solutions did not work, so I emailed them. Within a half hour I had a response and an RMA #. So,I shipped the unit back to them, unfortunately, it was over the New Years weekend so there was a delay in their receiving it. However, they repaired my unit and shipped it back the same day they received it. Now, it works just fine.

Its easy to hook up, and plays just fine. I wasnt happy that the unit came with a malfunction, but I was extremely happy with the timeliness and helpfulness of their customer service.

Hope this was just a fluke, because it was awful.
by: Anonymous    On: 2003-01-09

Maybe I just had a bum unit, but I had problems with this thing right out of the box. I popped in my first movie, and it displayed the message, "No disc." So I took the disc out and put it in again and got the message, "Open." I took the disc out and put it in a few more times, until it finally acknowledged the disc and that its lid was closed. However, 3/4 of the way through the movie, it just stopped playing for no reason, suddenly saying "no disc." I managed to restart it, and watched the last 1/4 of the movie with no problems. I was hoping that these were isolated incidents, but they werent. This problem started on Friday, right after I hooked it up. On Saturday, it became more and more of a struggle to play a disc. At one point, I just had to let it rest for an hour and go back before it would acknowledge that it was indeed closed, and indeed contained a disc. By Sunday, it gave me the message that the lid was open no matter what I did, and the thing was useless. Im shipping it back and buying a totally different unit. I am very disappointed because I loved the looks of the thing, the remote was easy to figure out, and given the very limited space in my entertainment center, the size was perfect. But if it doesnt work, it doesnt matter if it looks pretty. Hope others are having better luck with this unit, and that my bad luck was just a fluke, but Im not willing to re-try to find out.
I love this DVD player!!
by: Anonymous    On: 2003-01-03

I dont have a lot of space so I took a chance on this tiny player even though I had never heard of the company... and its perfect: lots of features, easy to use [everything is clearly labeled], no glitches at all [no heating up or humming or skipping], nice architectural look. I needed a ... adaptor to connect it to my old TV which only has a cable jack, but setup was very easy. Highly recommended!
a pretty cool unit
by: Anonymous    On: 2003-01-03

i was searching around for something to gift my room mate christmas when i came across this unit. it is a very sleek looking system without the flab of the usual dvd playes that we see. plus it is pretty good and response times are great too.
and the best part is that being only a little bigger than a conventinal discman, it is extremely portable especially if you tend to travel a lot. it gets my full marks.
the remote could have been designed a little more sleeky, but it has all the basic functionality.
a good deal at 90 odd dollars if you ask me.
Oh yeah, baby . . .     On: 2002-12-16

Dont look any further. This baby kicks donkey! This is the first DVD player that I have owned, but Ive used a lot before this. This thing is awesome. Its easy to hook up and disconnect. Its small and light, so its easy to take with you to a friends house. Im in college right now, so its a great space saver (it fits on top of my TV). The thing is competely self-explanatory -- I didnt even have to read the directions to begin using it. Its just plug it in, and play the DVD. The remote control has all of the buttons that a person could ever want -- zoom, fast forward, reverse (both of which can be done at different speeds), etc. etc. All of my friends are in awe -- at the quality and the pirce.
Now, I know Im sounding like I was paid to write this, or I know the owners of the company or something. But, Im not. I had never heard of Cyber Home before I bought this thing. I still havent seen anything else that they make. It doesnt matter though -- theyve pleased me with this DVD player. Go Canes (#1 for the second year in a row!) and thank you Cyber Home for this awesome DVD player.
