Have owned these for a little over a year, sound as good as speakers for 6X
the price.I compaired these with many speakers in a simular price range locally and these came in 2nd place. The Insignia NS-B2111 from Best Buy was my favorite overall but unfortunatly they were not magnetically shielded.Pass on the x-over mode hype, after a short break-in period they sound great.Very highly recommended.

We needed a small set of speakers for our 10 x 10 exercise room but didnt want to spend a lot of money or give up sound quality. These marvelous little speakers fit the bill on both counts. On: 2008-05-29
I purchased a pair of these speakers to replace 2 of the 5 Boston THX speakers that I have (I also have a pair of Fisher speakers to round out my 7/1 installation). The dual speaker cones in 2 of the 8 year old Boston speakers had begun to turn to powder, so it was time for a replacement. After reading some glowing reviews from Amazon.com customers I ordered a pair of the BIC America speakers and am very happy with the purchase.
Although the BIC speakers are much smaller and lighter than my Boston speakers (an added plus for this purchase btw), the sound quality is every bit as good as the Boston speakers ever were.
Some reviewers stated that the speakers were somewhat easier for the A/V receiver to drive at a lower volume level. I dont find that to be the case for me, I still have to have the volume level set pretty much at the same level as before. The end result though is a very clean and crisp sound from an inexpensive and quite small speaker. I highly recommend these speakers if your budget and space are limited, it is money well spent. Excellent value, well built and very good sound quality. Im very pleased with this purchase. On: 2008-04-15
I purchased these speakers as rear surrounds for my home theater. They are great speakers that fair exceeded my expectations for sub $100 speakers. They have great sensitivity, so they pick up the small nuisances assosiated with rear surround soundtracks. When I play games or watch movies I can really hear people creaping up behind me.
They are also great for music. They have good seperation and have a crisp sound that I prefer. On: 2008-03-28
i just got them hooked up about a week ago - have them for surrounds in a HT setup - and they are very nice - very good sound for music and movies - they have a good amount of bass for a bookshelf - and i also got the center channel model also - i would have gotton the floor standing for the fronts if i didnt have them already - i would buy them again and the price is great - no regrets -- On: 2008-03-27
I got these speakers from amazon recently and so far have been giving me great audio no matter what I put them thru. I have hooked them up to a few different set ups I have in my house, a Technics receiver running a portable Zune thru the phono input and they have held up. I also have a Pioneer and ran them thru the front speakers with just two others as rears and no sub. Bass was adequate but not great, but for the size they were alright. Highly recommend them.
Only real con I can find is you might need to invest in some speaker stands to keep them at ear level for listening or just below for best possible sound. Other than that they are well worth the money and equal to speakers costing two to three times as much even here online. On: 2008-03-25
Great product for the price. Sound quality is fine for the application I am using. Buy them you will like it. On: 2008-03-24
The BIC DV62si and BIC DV62CLRS speakers when modified by Ed Frias are the best kept secret in Audio! These speakes after crossover modification by Ed Frias compete with High End Audio speakers! They produce a flat response with open, transparent, and a large transparent soundstage. The voiceing that these speakers produce is crystal clear with an extremely clean mid-range. Ed Frias directs the correct signal bandwidth to the mid-range and opens up the middle for an extremely smooth response! Dont be fooled by the low price....these BICs Have quality drivers (Vifa/peerless) in my opinion this is the best kept secret in audio and an entire BIC System consisting of 3 (up front) BIC DV62CLRS and DV62sis for surrounds (Modified by Ed Frias) will compete with systems costing much much more! My Polks sound muddy compared to the modified BICs! On: 2007-09-30
At the same time I purchased a replacement CD player for my Onkyo system, I replaced my very old floor speakers that have got rattly and been used as a scratching post and worse by cats. These shelf mounted speakers are great improvement in sound and convenience for added room. Could not be more pleased. I am not an expert in sound systems, just want what works for me. So far, I am more than happy with these speakers. On: 2007-09-14
I bought these Bookshelf Speakers to replace some older speakers. My wife has never loved the big speaker look so I opted for these. Most people have never heard of this brand but this company is a well-kept secret. Their speakers are excellent and cost much less than the leading competitors. On: 2007-09-04
The sound is bright, detailed, pretty good overall, excellent for the price. Bass is about what you would expect from a speaker of this size and price. Finish and appearance are mediocre. On: 2007-08-29
Ive had these for 3 days now breaking them in and they sound terrific. Its too bad they are made in China now but the quality is still there. Obviously the QC was carried over to China. Cant believe how good these sound out of the box, very detailed, and I dont see a reason to upgrade the crossovers like others have done. Cant beat this deal. On: 2007-08-24
These speakers sound great - both highs and bass. Paired them with a BIC subwoofer for movies, etc. and really picks up the bass even more. Just a little bigger than I wanted but the price was great! On: 2007-08-02
Well balanced sound from these great little speakers. Cant beat them for their size and price. Bass doesnt go all the way down to the "feel it" range but it fits in perfectly with the rest of the music. Will be looking for a small, cheap sub-woofer to complete the package. All-in-all it will greatly improve my HDTV experience and they are well worth the money. On: 2007-07-26
Great sound as rear speakers, matching perfectly with my Bose 901 and Klipsh SB3. Very good price and fast service. I also used them as outside speakers and they worked fine. On: 2007-07-17
I just purchased a pair of these on 7/13/07 to replace the smaller BIC DV-52SIBs. When I opened the book one of the speaker grills was damaged. But not enough for some good ole super glue. The frame of the grill was broken one one side and a few small pieces also. I just glued the frame and other pieces back in place and let the grill dry overnight. The next morning they were good as new. But the speakers themselves were is excellent shape. Im using these as rear surround speakers in an eleven speaker 7.1 system. I put the DV52SIBs in the master bedroom system and use the DV62sis in their place upstairs in the bonus room.
The sound is great for a small speaker at this price. They have good bass response for a small rear fill speaker. Ill give it some more time before judging them. But good so far. On: 2007-07-04
BIC America is serious in designing their products. Prior to purchasing I did a research, comparing technical specifications and prices of several brands. I decided to buy BIC America and so far I have been very satisfied; the quality of the sound, the grill are excellent. I like the ventury hole. I use them as surround left and right speakers. The Amazon.comBIC America DV62si Bookshelf Speakers (Pair, Black) price makes these speakers more competitive.
I would recommend to people who are serious in quality and less serious in brand names. On: 2007-06-17
Having tried these out for a short while I can tell you, save up a little more and get some Polks. On: 2007-06-12
These are very good bookshelf speakers at a great value. My intention was to get the upgrade, which apparently makes them sound less bright. Since they compliment the Polks I use with them, Ive decided not to do it. Yet. Excellent low end for the size. Definately better than the JBLs they replaced. by: Anonymous On: 2007-05-19
I was so very impressed by the raving reports. But hearing is believing. Physically, well built! Mediocre sound. No comparison with a Yamaha half its size. No transparency (hallow colored sound), mediocre imaging. Bass booms at port resonance (can be cured by plugging the port with an old sock, but loose bass response). Not flat response. Good and tight mid and high range. You can get better sound for less if you go to a $80 Yamaha product. All together, not bad. Good try, but no cigar! by: ajdfsu On: 2007-03-24
Awesome sound out of these little gems! Dont let Amazons great price and free shipping fool you, these are all youll need for completely satisfying sound. Now, if youre intent on impersonating an audiophile/sound snob, maybe youll want to spend 5 or 10 times the money for furniture speakers and thats fine. However, if you just want great, clear sound reproduction from low bass to undistorted highs, your shopping should stop here with BIC America. Enjoy the music! by: drp103 On: 2007-03-14
I just hooked these up to a moderately priced A/V receiver from Pioneer. Im guessing they will take a few days to break in, but they sound excellent already. For the money, they are the best speakers around. For the size, they make great bass. I will not be needing a sub, they are that good.
The looks are pleasing. The fit-and-finish is good to very good, but not perfect. But, for the price, they are very acceptable.
The packaging is poor. I really thought my speakers were damaged when I removed them, because the cardboard and foam were flimsy. Accept for one corner that was slightly dinged, they were in great shape.
I am giving them 5 stars for the very low price. by: theradiostore On: 2007-02-07
Bought a pair of these for my dad...not the most critical listener, but I am. I have a full set of KEF Cresta speakers (now called Cresta 10) for my home theatre - 6 speakers with DolbyDigital EX. The KEF Cresta is, in my opinion, one of the best budget "entry" level speaker systems out there from British speaker manufacturer KEF, but theyre hard to find (Ive also owned the equivalent entry level set in PSB speakers). Ok so, I hook up the BIC DV62sis to an amp and fire them up. Well...amazing. Clean sound. Good bass. Couldnt tell you about imaging in the set up I heard them. For this price, dont know how they do it. I doubt youll be disappointed. But if you have $2000 to spend on high-end speakers, well whatever. Get 5 of them, hook them up to a decent amp with a SACD player for music or DVD for movies. by: trietley2 On: 2007-02-06
Im so happy with these speakers. For the price, the sound is utterly amazing. I have a good moderately priced system, and these speakers really make it special. No one can believe the crystal highs or the big bass coming from such humble-looking speakers. On: 2007-02-04
Im using these as part of a small stereo system that includes an iPod (4G40), a Sonic Impact 5066 amp (connected to a 12V35A source), and the BICs. WOW! Im looking at getting the center channel speaker for my HT. Amazing vocals, and i can get away w/o a subwoofer for a while. This wont be my last pair. On: 2007-02-03

These speakers rate 5 stars! Very clear midrange and treble. Tight relatively deep bass. These speakers have very good imaging and sound dynamic. Efficient so not a lot of volume is needed to make them play loud. The speakers sound best with loudness on but require no other treble or bass adjustments. They are listened to for at least 1 hour per day. I am of average hearing. The speakers are mounted on stands which are about 4 feet off the floor. These speakers receive my full endorsement for great sound. The BIC DV62CLS (Center Speaker) is reported by a leading consumer magazine and others whose opinion is respected to sound even better with deeper bass but at twice the price. On: 2007-02-01
I took the plunge and bought a Panasonic 50PX60U plasma TV from Amazon this Christmas. To match the great visual experience of the plasma, I also decided to upgrade the sound output to something that would more approximate a home theater experience. For reasons of cost and space, I shyed away from buying a 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 home surround receiver. Instead, I purchased a low cost stereo receiver for $75 on the internet. To go along with the whole consertative motiff, I researched a popular consumer magazine and found these low cost speakers near the top of the list.
At this point I would like to point out that I am no audio expert. I do however go by an old classmates advice that the most important part of an audio system are the speakers because these are what you listen to. If you buy good quality speakers, you will have good quality sound.
So after finding these speakers in a consumer magazine, I started surfing the internet to find out what real audio experts say about them. Everywhere I looked I found everyone raving about these BICs. And best of all, the price of just over $100 a pair with free shipping at Amazon was impossible to pass up.
Well I now have my Panasonic plasma integrated with a basic stereo reveiver and these two fantastic speakers. The sound quality is unbeliveable. Even though I do not have a home theater surround system per se, I find that these speakers sound like Im in a movie theater. They have an absolutely fantastic sound quality. And for $184 for two speakers and a receiver, I laugh to myself every time I use them (my wife is very polite about it but I think she has heard me say "how about that sound system for under 200 bucks?" a few times too many).
When it comes to playing just music with these BICs, the sound quality is excellent. It sounds like the artist is right in the room with you.
So if youre considering buying new speakers to replace old ones or are buying them for the first time, I would highly recommend these great quality speakers. If you are considering constructing a do-it-yourself home surround system, these would do very nicely for the two front speakers in the system without chewing up much space in your viewing room. And even though their size is relatively small (approx 9"x9"x14" tall), they sound like giant size speakers with great clarity and accuracy. On: 2007-01-31

I am a stereophile. These are excellent speakers. For the price, they cannot be beat. On: 2007-01-11
For an inexpensive speaker, the BICs perform well. Certainly not comparable with the Polk RT7s they replaced; but nonetheless, solid performers. The speakers are being used to support a small home theater system and I would readily recommend them for this type of application, provided a subwoofer is also being used. On: 2007-01-10
Im no audiophile, but I definitely am a music lover and listen to a wide and diverse selection. For the price and size of these babys, I am thoroughly satisfied, maybe even a little surprised at the clarity of sound and range from deep bass to high treble. So as far as I am concerned, these definitely exceeded my expectations. Theyre solid. On: 2007-01-10
I bought a pair of BC62si speakers based on my experience with BIC center channel and in-ceiling speakers. I am thrilled that I bought these! They require a break-in period before they really shine but after running them regularly for a couple of weeks I felt like I had a new entertainment system. The base response is excellent for a bookshelf speaker and the highs are crystal clear. I dont imagine youll find another speaker under $300/pair that can touch these. Another winner for BIC! On: 2006-11-15
Ive owned Bose 301s, Bose theater speakers, Infinity, Polk just to name a few. Recently, one of my Polks that are only about 5 years old, started sounding suspiciously blown. I dont abuse my speakers, so Im not sure how this happened.
In any event, I researched bookshelf speakers far and wide, and kept coming across these, especially on the audiophile bulletin boards. I found comments like "With the Ed Frias upgrade, these speakers sound like $800 speakers". Even though I was a little skeptical, I figured, for the price, I cant go wrong.
The key, though, is to take them apart as soon as you get them, remove the crossovers (remember that the blue/gray go on the woofer), and send them to Ed Frias. Trust me, if you know how to operate a Phillips screwdriver, you can do this.
For a small fee, youll get the crossovers upgraded by Ed. Theyll be back to you in less than a week. Reinstall them and sit back. Youll be saying WOW! a hundred times over, just like I did. While Im no audiophile, I like to listen to music and watch movies in high quality. These are ideal for a middle of the range theater receiver (100-150 watts) and should be used with a powered subwoofer for best effect, although they sound awesome on their own too.

I consider myself a fairly estute audiophile. While I cannot afford Macintosh/Martin Logan receiver/speaker systems or any of the other "High" end audio equipment, I try and get the best value for my hard earned money. I purchased a pair of the DV62si to put in the home office and hooked them up to the Harman Kardon receiver. The Harman Kardon used to be the receiver running my home theatre system, but after five years of no hassle use, I decided to purchase a Denon reciever to run the home theatre duties. The BICs are perhaps the best deal on the planet at this price range, or perhaps 3 times the price. I have Infinitys in the home theatre system which will soon be replaced with more DV62sis.
For a few dollars more, you can have Ed Frias tweek them a little, which I beleive Ill do here shortly. Bottom line, if your in the market for inexpensive bookshelf speakers, dont look anywhere else but BIC. On: 2006-08-19
Terrific sound right out of the box, even better with some age. Phenomenal sound when combined with a subwoofer. Definitely recommended, great sound especially for the price! On: 2006-08-16
Bought in April, broke them in as advised. Not being an audiophile, I cant be scientific in my opinion. I use these speakers as fronts for a 7.1 surround setup with a Yamaha RX-V659 receiver and a Yamaha S5750 DVD/CD player. I listen to classical, baroque, and DJ-remixes/electronica. Music sounds natural and fantastic in my 20x30x9 room; almost no need for a subwoofer. Movies are a pleasure to listen to. I think only in superlatives for these speakers - and I havent gotten the special crossover swap for these yet. I think this setup is better than my fathers $2000 Bose system, and is comparable to any other bookshelf system in the $500 range, although I must admit that the Energie speakers are better than the BIC America Venturis... but they (Energie bookshelf speakers) are never on sale, and cannot be had brand-new for under $115.

Im delighted with the performance of these speakers and am very pleased with the value-for-money ($127). Im not terribly impressed by their appearance, but I supposed I couldve paid 2+ times the price for a comparable sound and a nicer design. That wasnt in my budget. On: 2006-05-22
I just wrote a review of the the Dv-62CLRS speaker, which is a top of the line center speaker. When I bought the DV-62CLRS I also got a pair of the DV-62sis. I paired them together with the DV-62CLRS speaker as my front speakers for my sourond sound system matched to a Rotel Processor and Parasound Amp. After close to a 100 hour burn in these speaker started to come to life. All I can say is that for the price they just can not be beaten. It is a shame that most stereo stores do not stock these so as to compare them to their high dollar speakers. Could be there is some logic to this as they would have a hard time selling those other brand name speakers(at two to three times the cost). when compaired to the B.I.C.s On: 2006-03-24
I am very happy with these speakers. They answered all my requirements: reasonable price, smaller size, clarity of sound, and compatibility with my other stereo system purchases. I found this particular brand because I read a highly favorable review of them in a famous consumer publication. On: 2006-03-19
I am an electrical contractor and find my self doing custom audio installations more often now. Many clients ask for recomendations or
have me purchase the equipment for them( with a tidy mark up of
course). These speakers were purchased for the listening room of a
world famous composer. His only practical choice for the room was
bookshelf speakers beause the layout made floor speakers
obstructive. Coupled with a self amplified subwoofer these speakers
pleased my client immensely. The next pair are for me.

Was actually looking to upgrade my Technics receiver since I wasnt getting the quality of sound I wanted, but didnt want to spend too much, so decided to upgrade my speakers first. After reading several reviews, I decided on the BIC America DV62si bookshelf speakers. When I hooked them up and listened-WWOOOWW!-I was really impressed. They produce a clear, crisp sound which seems to fill the room. The bass is very good and I dont feel the need for my subwoofer. I had listened to the Bose 301s and 161s and I think these are considerably better. For a little over $100.00 they produce excellent sound. I feel no need to upgrade my receiver anytime soon and plan on purchasing a BIC center channel speaker and BIC minis! On: 2006-01-30
I am very impressed with the sound of these speakers. They have a clear high end and and tight bottom end. They are well constructed and are suprisingly heavy. They also look great. For the money they cant be beat. On: 2006-01-07
For the price the BIC DV62Si is excellent, they need to "break in" for a while. Initially they are a bit sizzly sounding. They do, however, sound better than the "name brand" Best Buy and Circuit City speakers. If you dont mind voiding the warranty, the crossover can have its 3.3uF capacitor across the woofer removed and the 0.25mH coil across the tweeter should be removed, after this they could easily compete with things like the Bowers and Wilkins (B&W) DM602 and other speakers that are more than twice the price. On: 2005-09-07
These speakers are far better that I would expect from and bookshelf speaker of this size ands price. I love the warmth of these little speakers. I listened to Bose 301s and these are better to me. I think for what you pay and the sound quality you get it is hard to justify the Bose at 3x the price!
Still a bookshelf speaker, and they do have limitations for the size, but I would recommend them to anyone looking for a bookshelf speaker that sounds great and has a real mans price sticker. On: 2005-09-06

These speakers are fantastic. The imaging that the create when combined with the DV-62CLR center channel is amazing. They blend so smoothly that it is very difficult to determine what speaker the sound is coming from. Typically with most systems, you can pick out when the dialogue is focused through the center channel, but this makes very smooth transitions between all of the speakers. I am currently using them as my front speakers in a surround set-up that also works well for music, if not better. The sound does take a little time to warm up, but all good speakers do require break-in time. For me I listened to various types of music for about two days before the sound began to mellow and develop a richer sound. At first, the sound was kind of hollow and timid, but over time developed a very lively, open sound. I listened to B&W speakers that were highly recommended, but thought that they lacked the true live sound, they sounded boxy, but very accurate. I prefer the sound of Energy, Paradigm, or even Boston Acoustics for a warmer feel, but these bookshelfs are much cheaper. I will hopefully get the DV 64 towers to replace these as my front speakers and move these to the back as surrounds. The only reason they get four stars is because nothing is perfect, but they do sound like speakers costing upwards of five hundred dollars plus. by: Anonymous On: 2004-02-10
After reading many reviews of many different bookshelf speakers I went with these. The only other speakers I auditioned were Paradigm Titans. These really sound great! and are affordable to boot! They have a full sound in music and cinema. If your looking for an affordable pair of speakers dont skimp and buy KLH, buy these. Also if you hunt around the internet you can get the crossovers modified for even better sound. On: 2003-12-30
I own the same model, except it has different letter model prefix. Product appearance in regards to exterior visual finish is mediocre. The inherrent value is found not in manufacturing achievement, or audio excellence compared to high priced esoteric speakers of which I also own, but in the value that these have in sound quality for such a low price. These have been used daily in my bedroom theatre for over 7 years and have been decent sounding and reliable at high listening levels. These speakers will not disapoint at price point compared to other chaff produced by large manufacturers at this price point such as bestbuy/circuit city etc. If you are looking for inexpensive speakers with high quality manufacturing and sound accuracy, purchase energy speakers for another $20. Energy is not discounted via mail order/internet, so you will have to go to authorized dealer. On: 2003-03-04
I was looking to replace my Boston Acoustics a60 pair after about 20 years of use. I read as many reviews as I could find on the internet and also looked at Consumers Report. I kind of narrowed it down to the JBL S26,Venturi DV62si and Polk r15. The DV62si won the competition. I auditioned each of the speakers and found the BIC pair to have a singularly beautiful sound especially for classical and jazz (which are my mainstays). I was pleasantly surprised by the bass response since CR said they were a bit "bass shy". I recommend highly. (I have my speakers on 12 inch stands.) Bravo BIC.
