Don't Bother - Poor Quality     On: 2008-04-20

Not worth the time or money - Poor Quality - Even Worse Sound - lots of crackels and pops - inside interference!
Adequate Sound; Dodgy Design     On: 2008-04-15

Based on a first impression, the unit delivers okay sound for its price. Others have compared it to boombox quality, Id say its about one rung up. Pleasant enough, certainly better than the lo-fi speakers of my ViewSonic monitor, but nothing spectacular. Also, as is the case with low-priced unit, theres no balance control for the bass. Sound is pretty well balanced as it is, but if you are unsatisfied, youll have to rely on your software for adjustments, not the speakers themselves.

But, as has also been noted elsewhere, what are you expecting for the price?

One thing that hasnt been noted is that the bass-reflex unit is essentially a ported box with the unprotected speaker attached to the bottom and facing toward the floor. No covering or protection of any kind. This shouldnt be a big deal if youre planning to plant the unit in some inconspicuous, low-traffic spot and dont intend to move it much. But the lack of protection speaks to the somewhat cavalier design attitude toward this unit.

Presuming this unit continues to perform adequately, its a satisfactory item for its price. Just dont expect astounding performance.
Wow not even one month and it is broke.     On: 2008-04-08

Item worked great for a about two weeks. Given i knew it was going to have interfearnce problems with cell phones but Ive had it for less than a month and now there is a constant humming noise that it emits whenever I turn it on. Not a very good item. Sound was great when I got it but it just did not last. Buy at your own risk. I guess some people have better luck with it.
Great Price Great Sound     On: 2008-04-07

I wanted some powered/amplified speakers for my iMac computer to run iTunes and also to hook up my iPod. I wanted to buy a set at a store, but most stores did not have any set up to test. Others had only the more expensive sets on display (Gee, I wonder why?). I decided to look on Amazon. I read through tons of reviews and looked at different speakers. For $19.99, no tax, and free shipping, I thought Id try these. So far, they sound great. They are small and so dont take up too much space on my desk. Plenty of volume for a bedroom/home office sized room. The separate woofer helps fill out the sound. The volume control moves very smoothly. Some reviewers objected to the blue light. It matches the power light on my LaCie External Hard Drive and my Dymo LabelWriter 400. So no complaints here....except no headphone jack on the main speaker like my old set. I just put a dual jack adapter on my iMac so that I can hook up the headphones. I just turn off the speaker so I can listen when the kids are asleep. Im thinking about buying another set for work.
eehh.. they're ok     On: 2008-03-03

Well i just received these speakers about a week ago. The sound coming out of them is great for such cheap speakers. I did notice that when i got them too close to my internet modem they made a really weired ticking sound. but other then that they seem to work fine
Great speaker set for the price     On: 2008-03-01

Very happy with this set of speakers. I almost sent them back due to occasional static sound (thats why I only gave 4 stars), but it only happens sometimes so I kept them. I never hear it in my music, just sometimes when all is quiet. I would definitely recommend these. I needed some quick when my computer speakers died and these have not disappointed me.
Great Sound for the Price     On: 2008-02-21

The cheap little speakers that came with my computer had died and I needed to purchase new speakers. To be honest, I was just looking for the cheapest speakers I could find, but was impressed with the specs on this system.

Granted, this is not a high-end, surround sound system, but I get great sound even when Im playing DVDs on my computer. I am very happy with my purchase.
Bad     On: 2008-02-08

Bad sound, but it works for me. It is only for my office...who needs good sound?
Poor sound quality     On: 2008-01-13

Ive owned CA speakers for years, so I thought replacing my worn out ones would be a good buy, Unfortunately, these speakers do not deliver good sound quality. The high end is thin and tinning and the subwoofer is REALLY SMALL, which means not much bass at all. The whole system sound is highly reminiscent of a transistor radio. The higher volume levels is mid-range (you can turn it up higher, but it does not get louder!). All in all, Im very disappointed in this product.
Good sound for the price     On: 2007-12-25

The sound quality is good for the price.

Based on online photos, I expected the speakers to be big. It turned out to be compact and correct size.

The speaker has a blue LED light which looks cool. Matches my ANTEC case fan lights!

Spend a little more, don't buy this!     On: 2007-11-30

Ok, you cant go wrong with 20 bucks, right? Wrong!

The sound quality is so-so. Not terrible, but not too great either. The mids are not full enough, which perhaps is expected from speakers of this price range. The subwoofers are reasonable. Overall, the sound quality, while not great, are still deserving of 4 stars because of the price factor.

The reason I am giving it 2 stars is the ANNOYING sound it makes every few minutes, just before a cell phone is going to ring, or there is some electrical disturbance, and sometimes for reasons unknown to me (perhaps a cell phone 20 feet away!). There is no shielding whatsoever. The noise is highly disturbing, and EXTREMELY loud (it doesnt matter if the speaker volume is turned down). I was actually woken up from sleep last night by a terrible screech it made around 1 AM. In short, it has made the speakers unusable for my purposes and I am going to return them today.
Good for the money     On: 2007-11-30

I received and set it up yesterday and my initial impression is its OK. I dont believe that price effects performance, so Im not going to give it 5 stars because it only costs x dollars. Its better than I expected but it doesnt sound great. For $15-$20, its about as good as you can expect, so if this is your price range, then I recommend it.

Setup was easy except it was overpackaged. There were too many wrappers and ties that needed to be torn/undone. I needed scissors to cut through plastic tape. Its very easy to operate. Theres a power button and a volume knob. It about as intuitive at it gets. I prefer this over a single volume knob that has to be clicked on since I can save the volume setting with a separate power button.

Overall 3 stars. Value for the $ 4.5 stars.
Pleased Customer     On: 2007-11-17

I had reviewed a number of speakers before choosing Cyber, the addition of the woofer box is what initially sold me on the product. The performance for the price is extrodinary.
Arrived in great shape and I could not be more pleased.
solid     On: 2007-10-10

These speakers give you great bass & sound (unless you want to break glass) for their small size and are really cheap. Perfect for mp3 player, which is what I use mine for. They do pick up static when a cell phone is being used, or just before its about to ring. Also, your whole room will have pale blue light if you try to play them as youre falling asleep at night. My previous roommate loved them too and decided to buy her own speakers once I moved out. Besides the light, I couldnt be happier with them!
Cyber Acoustics     On: 2007-10-09

This is an adequate set for sound. It does not have the power or quality for serious listeners. I bought this to replace a pair of Bose Companion and was pretty disappointed with the sound but OK with the price. To sum it up you get what you pay for in any speaker system.
almost met my expectations     On: 2007-10-09

The speakers were very cheap - $20 and there are only two of them, but for a college dorm they are just enough. Sometimes the subwofer cant handle some of the house music i play, but in general, very good speakers for such a price.
In terms of price, these speakers are fine...     On: 2007-10-01

In terms of price, these speakers are fine, but remember that you only pay ~$17 for them. They are unbalanced between lows and highs, you end up getting both extremes. The speakers crackle some times. In terms of construction, the sub is uncovered on the bottom so it can be easily damaged. The speakers and sub are lightweight. That may be an advantage and disadvantage. The result is that the system feels as though they wont last for more than a year.

Otherwise, these speakers are fine, but not exceptional, for the price.
Great computer speakers for the price     On: 2007-09-05

These are the second set of these that we have purchased. The first set are at least 5 years old and still work great. The second set we bought for our son to take to college. Good sound and great price=great value.
Good sound for my needs.     On: 2007-08-23

I bought these speakers to use with my laptop in a small work area at home. They sounded great for radio talk shows, but for rock or urban music and jazz fusion, the midrange and highs got a little "buzzy." I adjusted them with the simple equalizer on Windows Media Player and everything was fine. I like the sleek design of the speakers - the black color complements my laptop. The woofer gives a nice bass tone.
The price is good, but lack of shielding is a problem     On: 2007-08-17

The speakers sound pretty good -- especially for the price. But, if you get a mobile phone call, the lack of shielding makes itself heard in a loud way. This could be tolerable for some. But I got these for my work computer and its not tolerable for that use. I had to unlug the speakers immediately.
Awesome and inexpensive!     On: 2007-06-28

Wow! What a deal! These blow any built-in computer speakers away! They are wonderful for the price!
Good for the money. Great shipping!     On: 2007-06-19

Pretty good for 14.99 with free shipping. Way better than my old ones. I have the satellites a few inches over head hieght and the sub is on my desk a few feet from me. Sounds really good set up that way and with the equilizer preset i made. I ordered this on saturday night and picked free super saver and i got it tuesday, when it shipped money! Great deal. only reason i put 4 is it doesnt have a whole lot o power. but good enough for me
Quality Product     On: 2007-06-18

This little ensemble gets the job done for a low price. Well constructed. Sub-Woofer is a little smaller than anticipated, but does the job very well. This is for use in a small room. Use for computer speakers or personal audio players. Sub has some distortion but is tolerable. Good value for $15.00.Excellent for use with Creative Zen V MP3 players.
For the money!! Gr8 Deal!!! and they sound good!!     On: 2007-06-04

ok.... i purchased these at a big box store... iwent in wanting a real cheap pair of speakers to put next to my bed for my ipod.... since i have not found a real great sounding "ipod/clock radio" i saw these and for $19 i figured heck it was a cheap gamble... heck 2 little speakers and a small sub.. well see how it sounds!! for that price it sounds awesome!!! now i say that spending only $19!!! YES I KNOW GOOD AUDIO!!! BUT FOR $19 its worth it!!!.... i went back and bought the same set up for my bathroom, so i could plug in the ipod for some tunes.... and another set for the garage..... i gave it 5 stars because they were cheap and sound much much better than i thought $19 set would sound..... cheers to whom ever buys this set!!
Awesome little speaker system!     On: 2007-05-02

Very good sound for the price. It is better with the low and high frequencies up a little. The only problem is that the subwoofer housing is too small. Just put it into another box, even cardboard makes it sound better. It brings out the sub-frequencies. I use it with my PC and MP3 player.

SOLID SPEAKERS     On: 2007-05-01

I bought these for portable gaming.

I am not an audiophile by any means, but these speakers spice up my gaming.

The sound is clear and rich. The bass delivers as well.

I feel like I am immersed in the game.

I am shocked at the price..I just had to try them...
Great speaker for its price     On: 2007-03-29

I purchased this speaker for around $17 and I got more than what I expected from this speaker system. I have the subwoofer placed right under my desk and that has made listening to music a lot more enjoyable. The only down side to this speaker is the lack of a headphone jack.
pretty much amazing     On: 2007-03-25

so basically...i needed some bass to liven up my dorm room...and this product gave me what i wanted...the quality of the speakers is amazing and i am LOVING the subwoofer (although my neighbors may not be)
Great Sound     On: 2007-03-24

I bought these speakers for a Christmas present and then decided to buy 2 more for my son and daughter. The sound is terrific for such an inexpensive item. I would highly recommend them to go with any MP3 player.
BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK     On: 2007-03-14

I listened and Compared lots of different systems. This is the best sounding for the price range.........Sound rivals those that are 3 times as high.........Now if your looking for Bose sound buy Bose....Cant beat for under$50
Ok     On: 2007-03-08

If you like heavy sound...this is not the system you want to buy, it may be ok for a laptop.
Great Speakers!!!     On: 2007-03-03

I love this set of speakers. I got a deal at Staples for $9.95 and its the best investment ever.

There arent any issues with catching radio singles like others have indicated. I just love them.
Excellent Speakers     On: 2007-02-02

I bought a new laptop recently and plugged my desktop speakers, which I hadnt used in quite a while, into the machine. They didnt work. After researching online for a new pair of speakers I came across these ones. They had pretty good reviews and so I thought what the heck, I will go buy them and if they arent good I will return them. Well needless to say I havent returned them. These speakers are great. The sound is awesome. Better than the $50+ speakers I had for my desktop and the subwoofer is great. For the price that I paid I was extreamly satisfied with the product. They are not as good a Bose speakers or anything but for under $30 you cant go wrong. The only complaint I have and it is not a huge deal at all is that the blue LED light on the main speaker that tells you your speakers are on is pretty bright.

Overall I would highly recommed these speakers for anyone who is budget concious and cant afford expensive speakers.

Lack of shielding is a major problem     On: 2007-01-25

Im giving these 2 stars because the sound is not horrible, although you certainly should not expect deep sub-bass or high-quality sound.

The real problem is the lack of shielding. As others have noted, the speakers pick up radio frequency interference. Mine make a -loud- and very alarming noise a fraction of a second before my cell phone rings or gets a text message. They also make a strange sound when airplanes fly overhead. Additionally, I get a low hum from them when music is not playing.

Since these are not sheilded, they may also cause problems (interference) with CRT monitors, but I cannot verify this as I have LCDs.

All in all, I would definitely NOT recommend these.
Just Plugged These In and WOW     On: 2007-01-20

Before I got this speaker system I had a pair of typical, funky little speakers. I was sick of not being able to hear anything with any boost or definition.

When I opened the package, I went "oh,oh". They are soooo small.

So, I plugged it all in anyway and threw some exteme rock tunes at the system. So much better! OK, so they arent $1000 surround sound speakers for your computer or whatever. They give maximum bang for the buck and for so few bucks, thats a lot of bang.

My advice is this: if youre sick of your little speakers that came with your Dell or Gateway or generic PC, buy these. They will definitely brighten up your day.

P.S. People who write spotlight reviews should really learn to spele.
Unbelievable value for the money     On: 2007-01-19

This is another gem for under $20. The sound is crisp and the bass adequate for its small size. Ive been using CA speaker system with subwoofer for 4 PCs/laptops at home for years and am very satisfied with the fine quality.
The best bang for the bucks     On: 2007-01-03

Imagine how surprising it is to find a set of what I really expected to be cheap knock around speakers (for listening to iTunes when Im using my laptop) and finding a gem of a set! These sound better than pretty much everything else under $150!!! They may be "cheap" but they sound fabulous. The treble and bass combo are perfect!
Buy to upgrade, then keep them, amazed     On: 2006-12-25

I echo the other positive comments about these strangely good-sounding, very cheap speakers. One extra plus I dont think was mentioned is that these are light and small - if you are traveling, you can put the whole thing in a suitcase and still pack your clothes. They can greatly improve the experience of spending the night in a hotel.
Astounding! You won't find any better sound for the price.     On: 2006-12-14

These and the white model (CA-3000) give the clearest, richest, and most full-bodied sound Ive ever heard from any $20 set of speakers. Especially if you put the subwoofer in a confined corner or in a wooden cubbyhole of some kind. Dont abuse them and they will last for years (I have 3 sets, 2 over 3yrs old). CA really hit the nail on this audio design.

Pros: Astoundingly good sound for the price.

Cons: Tends to pick up RF interferance easily from cell phones and the like as far as 7ft away.
You can't beat them for the price     On: 2006-07-13

I have an office at work. I type all day long, and listen to music. Because people are constantly walking up to me, I prefer to have my music out-loud. We all know how good computer speakers are.

For under 20 bucks, I now have decent sound, decent bass, and more than tolerable music. Over all, this is exactly what I was looking for. And, if they get stolen, well, its less than $20 Ive lost.

I have not noticed any problem with electric current or anything else causing staticl, as one of the other reviewers states. Of course, I dont have them turned up all that loud, either. The quality may well suffer at a loud volume.

thay are cheep, but on the other hand; thay are cheep     On: 2005-12-13

Well... I have heard better. Here are some other things you (yes you!) should know about these:
with there lack of RF\\IF shielding you will, faintly, hear local radio stations, or just static. And when your computer is turned off, the power stays on to these, so you will still hear the radio or static coming out of them, but that can be fixed by turning them off, but, you will have to turn them back on when you want to listen to something.
Being a 2.1 system rather than a 2.0 system, it has better lows then speaker systems without a subwoofer: in fact, before I got a subwoofer to go with the Harman/Kardons that I replaced these with, I found myself missing these cheep BLKs because the BLKs could go lower.

That said, I shall call these: just OK.
I would rate this speaker NEGTIVE FIVE star if I could     On: 2005-08-10

Dear friends,
buy this product if you dont mind having crappy speakers that cracks constantly and picks up the noise from electric current as soon as you turn it on. I mean to be fair, of course I am not expecting sound quality from high-end audio systems that are more then ten times pricier, but trust me, these speakers sucks so bad that they dont even worth a couple bucks. If you dont trust me, then go ahead and buy it. But dont regret that you are not warned!
Good Speakers for a good price.     On: 2005-03-27

Dont expect a Bose sound quality coming out of these speakers for 20 dollars. But they are really nice speakers. The design is nice. Really small, blue light to indicate the speakers are turned on, and of course it comes with a subwoofer. The sound is under-toned, but very clear. I got the white-gray version for my laptop and the black version for my desktop computer. Get the black ones, much more sleeker and simple. You could find these speakers ranging from 15 to 20 dollars. Anything above 20, means youre paying too much for them. So yes Im satisfied with these speakers. Go get them!
good for the extra computer     On: 2005-03-16

I bought these speakers for an extra computer I set up for classes (colage student). They sound a lot better than the 2 peice set I had. the Bass is weak and breaks up if you turn these up, but this set has really good highs. I replaced the kicker with an old stereo speaker form a dead bookshelf stereo system. Overall, these are better than a 2 peice setup but dont expect to be jamming out with these speakers though, they are ok for games but the explosions make them break up a little, bottom line if you need speakers cheap, these are cheap speakers. For better speakers at around the same price get the Cyber Acustic CA-3080, asim #B00005BC0J

Great speaker system for the price     On: 2004-04-29

I bought this speaker system a year ago and now it still works fine! The sound quality isnt that bad as some previous reviews stated. On the contrary, high is clear and bass is decent, mid-range is not that vivid though. But, wait, what do you expect for such a tiny little system. Its stylish as well IMHO. I really enjoy it. (...)
Updated on 6/10/2005:
Over two years passed, this baby is still great!
kinda get what you pay for     On: 2004-04-21

The sound quality isnt great but I didnt expect much for 9 dollars, or whatever. One thing though, the speakers are supposed to be black, it even says black on the box, but theyre off white-ish grey. Oh well. Not terrible, overall.
Broken Subwoofer     On: 2004-03-26

Ive only had these speakers for 6 months and the subwoofer has already stopped working. These speakers are cheap but they are also flimsy and have poor workmanship. Spend the few extra bucks and get something better.
The Worst Ever - Get some headphones     On: 2003-05-03

Headphones have better quality than these, unfortunately the $$$ price tag lured me in. I may be spoiled becuase I have a nice speaker system at home, but when I bought these for the office, I was extremely dissapointed. Heres why...

The subwoofer distorts, even at VERY low volume and there is a buzz inside the enclosure too.
The tweeters are very tinny sounding and the volume is not balanced between the sub and the tweeters.

You really get what you pay for with these speakers...

This speaker system is great for my portable DVD system and I love it! Buy the system if you want a great sound in a small place like your bedroom. It gives great sound for the money. Youll be satisfied.
