I bought this to replace a broken unit. Ive had the Ique for 4 years and my only gripe (are you listening Garmin?)is the bulkiness. Also, it doesnt stick that well to the dashboard. Hard acceleration causes the unit to come flying onto my lap or the passenger seat.

Ive also had difficulties with the beanbag sliding around and off the dashboard and have solved this in two ways: by attaching some Velcro strips to the underside of the beanbag and the dashboard or by stretching a small bungee cord from a defroster vent near the bottom of the windshield to an AC vent on the face of the dashboard and slipping an edge of the beanbag under the cord. On a hot day, you need to remove the beanbag from the Velcro while the car is parked, as the Velcro adhesive may get gooey and slip under the weight of the beanbag. Other than that, both worked fine despite not being terribly aesthetic. Also, you need to be careful with the little teeth in the cradle of the device. After years of carrying mine around in a suitcase to use in rental cars, the teeth got pushed out of line and dont make reliable contact with the IQue. Nonetheless, this has been a handy device, but I think when I replace it Ill try the suction cup option.

I agree that this unit will not stay well on a slick dashboard like my Acura has. I have to put it in the center console, which is a bit bad because I look down at it while driving. However, the loudness of the speaker is useful. I wish there were a windshield mount with a speaker/charger. No elegant solutions yet that Ive seen. Well made but mine just broke after about 3 or 4 years of pretty heavy use.

This little gadget works even better than expected. It stays nicely on the dashboard even when taking sharp turns. Easy to hook up and move from 1 vehicle to the next.

This is a super accessory to the IQ3600 as it allows me to hear the voice prompts and sits very stable on the center console.

You absolutely need somekind of mount kit for the iQue. Having the speaker to provide voice prompts is a must. The bean bag does a reasonable job of keeping the iQue in place on the dash. The only problems I have had with it are when I accelerate suddenly (like trying to get out of a toll booth real fast). Then the bean bag sometimes flies off the dash. But I must say, that for as many times as that has happened, nothing has broken. So its a pretty sturdy piece of gear in my book. The only short other short coming is that the plug/scoket adaptor might not be long enough to reach your cars particular 12V outlet depending on the location. The adaptor just barely makes it in on my Acura. But overall, a very good item.

I thought I ordered this from Amazon but in fact it was sent out to Dependable Resource, These guys are top notch. I needed to return it for a different item they did not sell and gladly took it back even though it was over the 30 day time limit. The guys are great.

This is very nice kit to have in the car because it provides audio assisted directions but the knob that goes into the cigarette lighter is not hardy. It is relatively easy to break it if you push it to hard. Unfortunately, this is the only kit available for the IQue PDA so we dont have much of a choice!

This item works for me. I use it my car and on my motorcycle. The "bean" bag base detaches with the push of a button. I detach the base when I use it under the map cover on my motorcyles tank bag. In the car, the charger and cradle are very stable. The iQue 3600 securely attaches in the cradle and has constant DC power supplied to it- no sporadic charging problems. Before buying this Garmin Auto kit, I tried a less expensive Gomadic brand DC charger. I sent the Gomadic DC charger back for a credit- it attached very loosely to the iQue 3600 thereby causing the DC power to only work at times, usually not working. The Garmin Auto kit is definitely worth the price difference to me.

Ive had my ique 3600 for over 2 years now and have only used this auto mount. This is a simple product and it works, but due to poor manufacturing I have 2 now, I replaced my original a few months ago. If you dont take it out of your vehicle often it will extend the life of this product. I switch between the company vehicle and my own, this is what is making my auto mount break over time. I took apart my old one and i saw that the wires became off where they were soldered which resulted in no power getting to the unit. My second unit still works to keep my ique working in the car, it just has no sound since the wiring for the speaker has a short in it somewhere. radioshack is selling these on clearance but low in stock.

2004 Saturn L 300 toad (Towed 4 wheels down) Fits the slot under the radio, very nice. This is much better than using a laptop as a GPS. Delorme Earthmate is a good base device, but not so good on the road, because of the laptop size. Im a happy camper.

Wherever I put it is where it stays. I have to admit I had my doubts that it would work this well. My dash is sloped and I have to set it near the edge as not to impair my vision. Even around the sharpest curves it doesnt move. It has lots of positions to adjust the unit for viewing and to prevent glare. Just loosen the adjustment screws to put it at the perfect angle then tighten them up. The speaker works great.

Allows firm, no movement, visible, console mounting of iQue. I appreciated that it used the full ribbon mount connector versus the miniplug. Audio was loud enough to hear navigation announcements.

Works very well in auto. Keeps battery charged and allows brighter screen for 3600 than the PDA battery alone would allow.

The navigation kit works well although you do need a mostly flat area to set it on. Our Toyota Highlander lacks enough room between the windsheild and the dash to set it up on top, but we placed it below the gear shift on the center console and it worked quite well. The Ique was able to hold signels with no problem. I think the suction base might be a better solution for cars with out a low flat dash area.

This is a must-have for those who use the GPS in the car.
Be careful of missing parts. I lost some parts on the cigaratte lighter plug in a rental car and cant get them.

This gadget is sort of a four-lobed bean-bag with a sticky, rubbery material on the bottom. It doesnt move much on the dashboard, but I wonder if it should even be there.
The instructions are pretty emphatic that you shouldnt put the device in your line-of-sight and it shouldnt rest on an airbag. That would banish it from my Ford Focus and limits its place in my Honda Odyssey. Id have preferred something that stuck to the windshield with suction cups, like a radar detector.
The device and the mounting base the iQue 3600 sits in are bulky. Ive used mine on business trips and it takes up more space in my carry-on than I think it should.
The mounting bracket that holds the PDA has a couple of screws that allow you to adjust the bracket so you can turn the screen towards you and place it at a convenient angle. I lost one of the screws in a rental car and cant get help from Garmin to replace it. If you buy one of these, watch out for the pieces.

I purchased the navigation kit but found that when driving a bit sporty, the kit does not stay on the dashboard at all, landed on the floor each time. Eventually placed it on the center console but that is not the right spot to look at the iQue 3600.
Bought the windshield suction cup and found that that works 100 times better than this navigation kit.
Unless, you have a flat dash board and do the 0-60 mph in about a minute or more, dont buy this kit but go for the suction cup.

The navigation capabilities of the iQue 3600 are fantastic. One really must have this Auto Navigation Kit in order to take full advantage of the unit."Friction Mount" in this case means that the unit is attached to a bean-bag base with high-friction rubber underneath so it doesnt slide around your dashboard.

It stays put, it charges, and in New York city its absolutely indispensable for getting good reception on the run.

Aside from a major collision, it will stay where you put it. Only problem is viewing the screen up on top of the dash. Too much glare, except at night. Am thinking of an external antenna, but thats another 60 to 90 bucks. Otherwise, wonderful.

The friction mount makes it easy to use my IQue in the car. It keeps the screen in easy view, and the speaker on the plug makes it easy to hear the turn by turn directions. I am very glad I invested in the auto navigation kit. It does work best on a flat dash board. The dash in our suburban slopes away toward the windshield, so you have to turn the GPS sideways to keep the antenna from hitting the windshield. My sedan has a flatter dash and it works perfectly. You will be able to locate the unit pretty much any place on the dash where you can stand a coke can.

You might get the impression from reading the other reviews here that this device never loses its grip even under off-roard conditions. Sorry to say but this isnt true. At least on my sloping dash, I have had to place it on top of one of those "sticky pads" to get it to stay in place at all. And it still isnt really that secure. As others have said here, it would be hard to live without now. The unit is very flexible in positioning the iQue for best visibility, and the charging cable/speaker is great, though a bit bulky around the power plug. Still, until something better comes along this is probably your best choice.

If you bought an iQue 3600, you need to buy the Auto Navigation Kit. First of all, it acts as a charging cradle in the car, so you dont have to worry about battery life while driving. Secondly, it has an amplified speaker which will let you hear the spoken turn directions even over your stereo. You may not like the "bean-bag" mount that it uses, but its currently the best option available, unless Garmin makes a similar mount designed to clip to a vent or somewhere else more permanent. On a final note, Ive never seen the bean-bag slip, no matter how fast Ive driven.

Once you start using the Auto Navigation Kit for the
iQue 3600 you might wonder why Garmin left it out of
the iQue 3600 package. Its what makes the iQue 3600
usable as a vehicle GPS unit.I have used it both in light-to-medium offroading,
and in a car with a sloping and smooth dash. In either
case the bean bag mount gripped the dash securely and
stayed put despite my apprehensions that it would come
off during unfavorable road conditions. The unit includes a speaker and a volume control
and allows you to hear turn-by-turn directions in
an amplified voice. Note however that if you really
turn up the volume, it causes significant distortion.
The base that connects to the iQue 3600 can be
rotated to face any direction, and also comes off
if you want to use the connector w/o the bean bag
mount.

The Auto Navigation Kit is a must-have accessory to be able to use the iQue while driving. The mount is extremely flexible for orienting the unit for best viewing. I have used it on three different dashboards without any problems. The non-slip base keeps its grip even in hard maneuvers. The speaker that is built into the power cord is clear and it can be turned up to a high volume to overcome road noise. I made a sunscreen hood to reduce the glare on the iQue screen using matte black cardboard and Velcro. I would consider this a must-have accessory too.
