Disney Princess DVD Player     On: 2008-03-18

This is the absolute WORST piece of electronic equiptment that I have ever had the misfortune of buying! It worked for a very short period of time and then started making loud noises from time to time. Occassionally it would play for a few minutes then stop again, now it has stopped playing them all together. What a piece of junk! I also had trouble with her portable Disney princess DVD player as well. It had stopped working correctly and I found out that there was a recall on them for using cheap Chinese manufactured batteries. The cheap batteries actually damaged the DVD player but Disney would not replace them, they would only send replacement batteries for it. I am going on record here saying that I will never purchase another Disney product!! Shame on you Mickey!!
Outstanding     On: 2006-08-10

Disney would only lend their name to outstanding products and it is!! Well made and very kid friendly. It is easy to set up and has 2 remotes (one for parents and one for kids) and they (like the DVD player) are well made. The kid size is perfect for little hands and the parents is larger. Even my 4 yr old couldnt harm it. The "feet" are removeable so you will get many years of use and it will fit any "Mickey" TV 13" or 19"
The WORST dvd player I've ever seen!!!!     On: 2006-03-22

There are reasons why to not buy this:
1.Its terrible!
2.It sucks like azz!!
3.Its only for punk azz littie kidz!!!
4.It Finally broke!!!!(YIPPEE!!)

And...
5.Disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!

I would rather buy a Sony dvd player than this garbage!!!!!

Excellent DVD to go with our Mickey TV     On: 2005-10-31

I was suprised to read some of the other reviews as we have had ours for 2 years and have had zero problems. It works incredible, easy as can be and I couldnt find a problem with it if I wanted to even with my son banging on it and pressing all the buttons on off, on off, on off....We love it!
No problems...but...     On: 2005-06-16

We have had this DVD player for well over a year now with no problems at all...and were talking about a kid who has scratched the heck out of every DVD he owns! Sorry to say it folks: But either youve got some bad luck in getting the one faulty product in the bunch...or your kids are doing something to the DVD player that they shouldnt.

Besides the complaints of reliability, Im surprised no one else had pointed out the one thing that irks me to no end: The lack of arrows/menu control on the remote!! In other words...the remote has play, pause, stop, FF, RW...and thats it! I dont know what moron thought of this scheme. Lets see...I buy, say, Disneys Aladdin with a ton of extra features...and there is no way for the DISNEY DVD player to play them! Or even more frustrating: Lets say you pop in a televison series...like Batman the animated series... for example...theres no way to move the selection to play the other episodes!! You better hope that when you pop in a DVD, the highlighted selection defaults on PLAY MOVIE or else your kids are watching whatever it does default to.

I havent attempted to try an aftermarket remote...but I am completely dumbfounded on why they left selection arrows off. Kids made need things to be simplified, but they arent stupid.
Completely reliable...to break!     On: 2005-04-12

Ive never had problems with products from Sears in the past, so I didnt feel the need to purchase an extended warranty. However after having TWO of these units fail within 18 months(cannot read disc), I am wary of purchasing another one even WITH an extended warranty.
My recommendation? Do not buy.

Great addition to our Mickey TV     On: 2004-12-26

We have never had any problems with the DVD player. It is great and easy to use. I think its great the kids have their own remote that is simple for them to use. Maybe we were one of the lucky ones that got a good dvd player but I think this is a great little dvd player.
READ THIS if you buy TV and DVD     On: 2004-08-24

Be Warned: There are 2 different disney TV models: the 1300C and the 1350C. Target sells both (although some stores have one or the other). The 1350C is newer, slightly different design and is "compatible with the DVD player". The 1300C only has one audio input (white) and not the red one. You can tell from the front. My stores display had the 1300 with the DVD, so we got that originally. 3 days later, we exchanged for the 1350. OF course, the problem with the 1350 is that it does not stack as well as the 1300 (there are divits on top of the DVD for the TV, made to fit the 1300). It comes with a little plastic strap to secure it, but the strap does not reach the TV. So, we put them side by side (safer anyways). I gave this 3 stars as I do not know how the DVD is yet.
You people have got to be kidding me?

Ok, Keep your heads on people.

#1: A 3 year old does stuff you wouldnt dream about to electronics. Just because its cute doesnt mean its any more durable that the silver or black DVD player you have in your living room - are you gonna let the little tike touch that one? I dont think so.

#2: BUY THE REPLACEMENT WARRANTY FOR YOUR KIDS ELECTRONICS! Its only $14.99 at Target for that DVD player - 3 years too. Unless the kiddo physically breaks something visible, youre protected against the thing breaking down. Imagine day after day - sticky, nasty DVDs being loaded up roughly. Yech!

Do NOT go buy a Sony or some other more expensive DVD player for a toddler. Buy the "cheapest you can find" knowing youll be back in a few months.

Thanx for the Advice     On: 2004-07-26

Ive read the other amazon reviews for the Disney electronics and i thank you. I was headed to a downtown electronic store tomorrow to buy the Mickey Mouse DVD player, but after reading all the horrible experiences with it, i wont even by a Memorex DVD player, whether its Disney or not. Thanx for not allowing me to waste my money.

This is a great DVD player!     On: 2004-07-22

We got this last December for my 3 year old. We havent had any problems with it. Its super easy to use and does the job to entertain our little one. The only thing I have an issue with is lately it seems to be a little temperamental about opening to put a disc in. I seem to have to push it a couple of times. But then again, there has been a 3 year old playing with it. I actually bought mine from Sears and purchased an extended warranty for two years and I still have time to go in case I want to switch it out for a new one. BUT, I wish I could have gotten mine for as cheap as Target is selling it!! =o}
I cannot believe this

I bought the Disney Classic DVD player and TV for my 3yr old son in March along with 30 dvds and it quit working a month later. So now I am stuck with all these dvds that he cannot watch in his room. It seems like they would do a recall on the product since there has been numerous cases on the product failing. Jennifer C.
disney princess dvd player ...cute product...bad experience     On: 2004-02-08

My daughter received the disney princess tv, dvd player, and clock for her birthday last july. At first everything seemed fine. The product was very cute and the picture quality on the tv was very nice. the dvd player occasionally smelled of very faint melting wire and stopped playing because it could no longer read the dvds. I returned the dvd player to the store that it was purchased at and got a new one. the 2nd dvd player stopped working within 1 month. same smell only this time it shows a picture but no sound. the store does not want to return it and the warranty is up with memorex. my daughter is 3 and she is heart broken. she cried when the player broke and wants a new princess dvd player that works. I am very disappointed also, but I do not want to purchase the same player that will just break again. now she has the whole princess product line but cannot use the dvd player.
Piece of Garbage!     On: 2004-01-29

My son got this DVD player as a birthday present this past July (2003) and it had trouble reading some DVDs. As of January of 2004 this piece of junk completely stopped working all together. It will not recognize or read ANY dvds it just spins them. I have tried cleaning it but it will still not read. I even called Memorex who said that I would have to pay $100 to have it fixed (yeah, right). Anyway, it may look cute but it is completely unreliable and simply does not work. For shame, Disney for lending your name to such a shoddy piece of junk. AVOID!!
nice but won't operate matching tv     On: 2003-12-20

If you like Disney this is really nice and comes with a kid remote too. I got one with the matching TV, Only thing is none of the DVD remotes have controls for the matching TV or any other TV! (volume, ect) You have to go back and forth between two remotes to use it. This was a disapointment thats makes it to hard for the younger kids to use. Extra note: Also if You do get the matching TV, you cant hook up the DVDs right and left audio sound because the matching TV is MONO only, you lose the DVD "experience". That said, The DVD itself looks funny hooked up to a good stero TV but works very well. The manufacture may want to upgrade the matching TV to take advantage of the DVD features.
