Finicky, short lived player...     On: 2004-11-19

About 30 minutes after I bought this player it gave the message "OOPS" while playing back an mp3 file. After much searching, it turns out that this is the error message when the player has a buffer problem. Unfortunately, you cant turn the buffer off, and if you move around through your music a lot, youll be seeing OOPS a lot.

Ive had this player for a shade under a year now, and when its not giving me the standard OOPS message, it works fairly. The seek time between mp3s isnt TOO bad, and if you just let it play through its passable. The sound quality isnt too bad, either. Its a bit of a warmer sound compared to a similarly priced Sony model. The sound was the main reason I stuck with this model after trying Sony, Virgin, and RCA models.

Unfortunately, I keep seeing OOPS more and more often these days - and its a pervasive problem. Its pretty common, and Ive tried 2 of these players with the same effect. Unfortunately, now the player is getting to the point where it will not even play normal CDs. It has started crackling and skipping, unable to play, on even brand new CDs.

If you can find this player really cheap, it may not be a bad purchase. If, however, you are looking for something that will last a while with few problems, you may wish to look elsewhere.

Good Product for the Price     On: 2003-10-25

Overall this is a good product for the price. However, the display scrolls the song across pretty slow. This keeps you from seeing the entire song title prior to the song beginning to play. Also, it does not allow you to scan through a track/song. You can only skip to the next track. Dont let these discourage you though, its cheaper than a standard MP3 player and pretty easy to use. Good Buy!
