Although I like the sound this speakers produce, I feel that they lack more power on the deep bass range. And that is unforgivable at this price range. The treble and mid ranges, though, sound very very good.
If I had more money at the time of my purchase, I believe I would have gone with some Bose speakers..... even with their inflated prices!!

Excellent product... clear sound, crisp highs and mid range. Base in a little light, but not in a problematic way, only need to adjust equalizer. Best speakers I have ever owned. Great value for the price.

Im a college kid, recreational audiophile and bass fanatic, studying engineering. I started off building a custom sub encloser with dual Kicker CompVR 12" subs driven by a 1200W Sony amp. I havent stopped searching for great sound since.
Im running a pair of these off an H/K AVR240, combined with a JBL EC35 center, a JBL S120PII 400w sub, and two sets of E30 surrounds.
Im big on trying anything before I buy it. I was able to listen to these and the E80s (the dual 6" floorstandings) at a local audio store before they were discontinued. I loved the sound of these and the Polk and Klipsich floorstandings of similar characteristics. With the JBLs at a fraction of the price here on Amazon, it was no question.
The only issue was what model to get...
I heard very little difference in qualtiy between the E60s and E80s. The dual 6" put out a bit lower frequencies, but the difference was so small that I wouldnt be able to notice without the speakers side by side. Living in a small college apartment the E90s and E100s were beautiful, but a bit overkill for what I needed. I deceided on these over the E60s with the hopes that a single 8" would draw less from my amp than the dual 6" for a bit less money.
Beautiful home theater and music speaker...
crisp highs, defined mids, and respectable bass. They are a bit top heavy, as any tower will be. and I love extremely low, loud bass, and as such, I suplemented the system with a sweet JBL sub.
Movies sound great:
Saving Private Ryan, Fifth Element, 40 year old virgin, Anchorman, etc... etc...
Music is also fantastic (with different amp settings tuned for genre):
Ambient, electronica, hip-hop, rap, jazz, 80s, classical, rock.
Ulrich Schnauss, Bonobo, DJ Shadow, Busta, Snoop, E40, Louis Armstrong, Michael Jackson, Bach, Korn, Metallica, Hoobastank, 311.
If youre looking for a quality tower speaker... this is it.
Bass fanatics, look at the S120PII. you wont regret it.

I just received these speakers two days ago and I must say I like what Im hearing. I bought these to replace a pair of JBL bookshelf speakers that I bought twenty years ago. These are a big improvement. Theyre much bigger than my old speakers which makes my wife a bit annoyed, but the fidelity is well worth "that look" that I got from her when I first set them up in the living room. They sound great whatever type of music (rock, classical, ambient) Ive played through them so far. Great range of sound. Good highs and lows. They came well packed and seem like they can withstand my kids. My only worry is they have a bit of a high center of gravity and I hope my toddler wont pull them over. Otherwise Im very happy with these speakers and would recommend them to any music fan who wants great quality at a great price.

I just bought a pair of these, and they ROCK! These are the best speakers I have ever owned. I just replaced my old Acoustic Research 410s which had received water damage recently. Excellect fit and finish, and the sound quality is phenomenal! I did some serious shopping for replacement speakers and almost every store suggested the JBLs over the Polk,Infinity, Sony, Pioneer, etc...Im not an audiophile, but for the money and for just listening to music, you cannot go wrong with these.

I had a pair of monitor Control 1 Plus and Subwoffer SB-1, JBL too for many years and the sound of them was perfect for me.
When I fly to live in Israel from Argentina, the speakers was deformed in the airport, then I give this pair to my parents and bought the JBLs E60.
Great response in bass, excellent medios, clear high frequency and very powerfuls. I spend 600 u$s for them because a price here, and I very happy. I like this brand. Im not defined audiophile, I an a fan of the music and the excellent sound, I listen Fusion,Jazz,Rock,Pop,Alternative whith notable accuracy and image stereo.Excuse me for my English and good choice!!.
