I have 2 of these linked together. Pros: it does go down to 20Hz; i tried it with a test cd. its weak, but it hits it. For the Acoustic Suspension junkies, this is it all the way. No boom to it at all, just low bass you feel. Also, a good bargain for the price. Cons: not enough power. with 2 of these, i should have cracked walls. Maybe im hard to please. Subwoofer placement has EVERYTHING to do with these. If you dont have the right room acoustically, then you might as well put a coushion on top of the sub, and use it as your chair. Because its not ported, i would recommend using the sub with tower speakers. (hint: Infinity Beta 50s). Overall, for the price, it is a good sounding sub. On: 2007-04-04
I have been running one hard for three years now. This speaker is an absolutely incredible value, which is why most stores dont sell it. I used it to replace two 18 inch subs because they were too large for the new feng shui room decore. [these are currently running in the basement directly under the room]. I am considering getting one or two more SAWX700s because the latest thinking is to have a sub in each corner of the room and I need the space in the basement. People, this is an IQ test. You will not find a better way to spend your money , except possibly the tactile transducers you bolt to the sofa (Parts Express $ 38). Their Titanic powered subs are also worth considering but my moneys on the Sony. On: 2007-02-05
I really liked the performance of this unit until it just stopped working after about two years. Of course, the pathetically short one-year warranty had expired.... thats "Sony quality" for you. Reading reviews from other sites, it seems I am not the only one with this problem. On: 2007-02-04

I purchased this off Amazon, read the reveiws and it sounded like it would be better than the old 200 w Klipsh I purchased several years ago. Nothing could be further from the truth. My home theater system has a total of 32 individual speakers, even my floor standing speakers has dual 150w subs that out perform this. My old Klipsh is about dead even. It has absolutely NO power to speaker of, the bass doesnt hit like the reviews mentioned, they must be Sony employees. If youre looking for some thundering bass, look somewhere else or take your chance and see what I mean. It has a button to boost the bass power, what a joke.
I give it 2 stars because its pretty. On: 2006-12-24

Ive had this now close to 2 years. I agree with reviewers above. Its a solid woofer. The bass sound is amazing and will move light objects around!!! Wife does not like it as it takes room. But thats a different story. On: 2006-09-23
I purchased this sub woofer and Sonys SS-MB350H Bookshelf Speakers. This cubes SAW (Super Acoustically Loaded) design means it has no port. That makes it a prefect sonic match for the Acoustic Suspension of the SS-MB350H speakers. This combination is unique in the Sony lineup, all the other speakers are ported. Forget about the less expensive ported subs, or the more expensive towers. Buy the bargain priced SS-MB350H bookshelf speakers, and use the money you saved there to upgrade to this top of the line sub. Can you tell I am enthused about the results? This is one awesome setup! After reading many positive reviews I purchased this sub 6 months ago. It has been great for movies and music. I like the auto shutoff feature. It provides tight bass for this price point and it will certainly rock the house in movies. I have it in a 14 x 22 foot room and it is plenty.

This is a wondeful sub. LARGE sound, shakes the couches, no distortion to date, safely rocks a 20x20 room. The unit is large, so youll need some room for it. 100% satisfied. [...]
