I bought this receiver one year ago @ Circuit City. It was one of those "we found this sitting around in the stockroom, and it needs to be sold" deals. For $50 I got the receiver, home kit, and car kit.
In the year I have had this unit, it has worked well for me. Its been on as long as approx. 4 hours, and I havent had issues with problems due to overheating. The unit sure does get hot, however!
I especially like the large display this unit has; makes it easy to glance over and see whats playing, without having to take my eyes off the road.
Sure, this isnt being made anymore, but if you can get a deal like I did, I would say go for it! On: 2005-12-24
My wife and I have 2 of these receivers. One for each of us. I have had mine for a 1 1/2 years, and my wife has had hers for a year. Neither of us have had any problems with the units losing signal even after constantly moving them between vehicles, work, and home docking stations. The sound quality is very good and the oversized displays makes them very easy to read. On: 2005-09-15
I have had this receiver almost a year and have dropped it three times on pavement and it still works! The other day it slipped out and the top actually split open, and then I heard something rattling inside. I thought for sure it would never work again but it does with no problems. I have not even replaced the remote batteries yet!
I drive truck at night and have a cradle for it in each of my personal vehicles so it gets alot of use.
The only thing I do not like is the red colored screen. It is hard to read especially at night in the dark. Would of been better to have the font black instead of light colored or the whole thing blue. It is a little large but I like the larger buttons rather than small. On: 2005-08-22
I bought this unit almost a year ago now and havent had any troubles with it. If it gets really hot the screen can get a little hard to read but is very sturdy to others I have seen more recently. I like that there are 3 bands with 10 stations each. Fairly user friendly. I really like it. On: 2004-12-07
I got the JVC kit for my birthday in early November and Ive got to say Im hooked. The music channels are great and I havent heard a commercial since receiving the unit. Ive had no problem with receiption in my home or car.
My new favoriate toy.

Ive had the JVC Sirius receiver for about 6 months now and have had no problems with it. I like the large screen and the feel of the buttons. Easy to see and use while driving. On: 2004-11-18
Wow is this unit nice, like a PDA for Satellite Radio. Sirius is the best service, used to have XM but switched when they added NFL coverage, I will be a life long sub!! On: 2004-10-12
This rig, along with ts home docking station, has to be the most single worst item I have ever purchachd here at Amazon.com.
It only ran for one hour, and litteraly exploded. There is NO way I am paying for this. On: 2004-08-31
I bought this and loved it for the price, I loved the Sirius service. I bought it for a road trip. On the third day of my trip, the receiver was crackling and my dashboard lights and dials started to go haywire, along with my cruise control. I pulled over to a rest area and then my car wouldnt start. I unplugged the receiver and then my car started and ran fine. I plugged in later when I was home and my airbag light and brake light went on. I called JVC and they didnt have any answers for me and then I returned it to best buy and am waiting for a refund minus a restocking fee. My other electronics work fine on my cigarette lighter, my phone and ipod. I dont know what the problem was. On: 2004-08-30

This unit loses the signal when it heats up - I like to listen to it at night, and I needed to put a small fan close to the unit to keep it cool. Once that was done, it works OK. On: 2004-08-26

It went dead after only three months. The number I called for warranty repair/replacement kept redirecting me to repair centers all over the country.
Finally, I got an answer--mail it to service center somewhere in Illinois (I pay the postage), and it will take four to six weeks to get a new receiver. Which means you will have to pay to have the new one activated, not knowing if it will fail in three months AGAIN, and...
Anyway, you get the picture. Just trust me--dont buy it. On: 2004-05-05
Easy to use, but the signal keeps dropping out unexpectedly in both home/car use. If the unit is turned off and then turned on again, the signal often comes back for a few minutes. I will be looking into higher-end products.
