Very Good low cost Headset     On: 2008-09-28

The Plantronics Headset system (S11) is a very good quality easy to use headset for little money. The instructions are complete and easy to follow. I recommend this headset to anyone who needs one but doesnt want to spend a lot.
A+     On: 2008-07-19

I work from home so I wanted to find something that worked well. After trying different headsets The S11 really won over all the rest!
Great Quality     On: 2008-06-28

Unfortunatly I had to return this item only because I ordered the wrong one. I wanted one with the keypad on it. I know this is an excellent quality item, however, because we use them where I work.
Loud Hum - returned product     On: 2008-06-13

I bought this for my Polycom Soundpoint IP 550. There is a loud annoying hum when in use. I tried all 6 config settings to no avail. Called Plantronics and they said I need to request from Polycom the "older-style" power adapter and that would fix the problem. Polycom says there is only one power adapter for this phone. I am returning the product today as it is unusable in its current state.
best investment     On: 2008-03-04

I love my headset. It has helped me with my job as a telemarketer 100%.
The clarity of the headset is amazing. The noise canceling feature is great. The people only hear me and not what is going on around me. I work in a call center with 40 other people and it is great to have the piece of
mind knowing that the person I am talking to can hear only me and understand every word I am saying. I would recommend this product to anyone that spends their day talking on the phone.

This Plantronics Headset System works like a champ. I can hear clearly and be understood. The system is very easy to install and use (Plug and Play) I am very happy with my system and will probably purchase one for my home office.

Plantronics Telephone Headset System is the best!     On: 2007-10-30

Best Buy used to carry this item. I was so pleased to find it on Amazon. I will continue to purchase these through Amazon.
Awesome Device if You can Set It Up!     On: 2007-10-29

I work as tech support on a database product so I am on the phone ALL DAY. After 2 years of holding the phone to my ear while I write - I decided to look into headsets. My work place dumped $150 on a headset that didnt work and since then havent bought another.

This is an awesome headset - if you can figure out how to set it up. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to get this working. Like most tech people I threw away the manual and just plugged everything in hoping that it would work. Well, the volume was super low - the listen/speak buttons didnt do anything - after a few other configuration settings I finally went back to the trash can to pick up the manual.

Set it up EXACTLY as the manual tells you to - Plug your phones handset into the handset on the plantronics device - plug your plantronics headset into the south end of the plantronics device and then plug the plantronics telephone cord into your telephones handset cord.

If you do that then the listen/speak volume will work - the mute button and headset/handset button will work allowing you to use your phone normally.

Once configured correctly callers told me they heard me VERY clearly - especially if I turned the Tx Level to hi. I have my listen volume ALL THE WAY DOWN and it is blasting my ear out.

If you do not set it up exactly as the manual tells you to - you will not be able to use your phones headset, your phones speakerphone, and your Plantronics headset at your wish.

Read the manual - it is a must this time :) - this HEADSET ROCKS.
Stable Standard, Too-Short Cable     On: 2007-06-11

We have had various versions of this headset system over the years. This one is almost as good as prior versions, with two exceptions. First is the headset design. It is cheap plastic that is not as comfortable as the flexible metal ones of the past. Another problem is the cord length on the headset. It is just a straight cord (not coiled or retractable) that is too short. If you have a wrap around or large desk, there is a good chance you will have to take the headset off to reach the far side of it.

Other than that, the base unit is the same. It has good tactile buttons and dials you can easily adjust without looking if you need to make an adjustment in-call. Also, this model seems to work better (with less static) than similar models on a multi-phone system.

Aside from the two shortcomings compared to previous models, this headset is affordable, fairly reliable and user-friendly.
Low Volume     On: 2006-11-16

I really like the headset; however, people have complained of me being really quiet when the volume for "speak" is at max.

Also, the headset rest does not work; I cannot get it to stay "hung up".

Works great for me     On: 2006-10-04

This is my third Plantronics headset and if I ever need another I will stick with plantronics. The quality of all of them has been great. I have seen other reviews that said you cant have the handset in at the same time, that is just wrong. My handset plugs into my Plantronics base, you push a button to switch between them, very easy. I also saw someone say the sound was bad. I find just the opposite to be true, I have the volume all the way down on mine and some people are almost too loud. Everyone hears me fine to, there are some 6 configurations settings and it took me a minute to find the one that worked the best for most of my calls. I only wish the headset cord was a little longer, other than that this is a great replacement for my A100.
Disappointing     On: 2006-01-27

First - a disclaimer: I know very little about telephone headsets, but decided to buy one because I had a series of long telephone meetings coming up.

I walked to my local Staples store, expecting to find a variety of prices and products - and thinking that Id pay perhaps $30 to $50 at the low end of the market.

At the store, I found that only the computer-based headsets were that cheap - and the only model that worked on a real, old-fashioned land line was the Plantronics S11 on display (it was priced at $130 Canadian).

Since work was paying for it, I didnt mind spending the extra money, but expected that, at that price, the quality and ease of use would be quite high.

When I brough it back to the office and installed it, I found that:

- The regular handset and the headset cannot be plugged in at the same time. That means that every time I want to use the headset, I need to fumble around at the back of the unit to switch wires.

- The volume of both ingoing and outgoing conversation is very low - even when I turn up the volume controls to max. The people I spoke with complained enough that I switched back to my regular handset.

- The microphone, although its somewhat adjustable, is short and inflexible enough that I cant get it very close enough to my mouth. When I try to move it closer, the earpiece turns and slips off my ear.

- The headset itself - that is, the plastic, adjustable arch and rubber pad opposite the speaker - is very awkward and prone to slipping off my head. It might have been better to design it like a regular two-sided earphone unit - so that it would be more balanced and stay secure.

I dont know whether these comments apply only to the S11 or to most headsets for traditional phones in general.

Overall, however, if Id been buying the S11 with my own money, I would likely have returned it and just gone back to using the regular phone handset.

Plantronics Headset     On: 2005-09-26

I like Plantronics equipment and only wish that the wireless version of their headsets were cheaper. I have a slightly older model of this headset at work and like it a lot. This particular head set, which I got for home is fine, but it has two small problems. First, for some reason they made the band that goes over the top of the head thicker. That means that it doesnt fit on the wire hook that extends from the back of the connecting box. This leads to more desk clutter and a tendency to get all the wires tangled. The second problem is that I have a small desk fan and if it is on when Im using the head set, the sound of the fan gets picked up by the microphone and so theres an annoying "whoosh" heard by both parties.

Overall, the product does what its supposed to do and is reliable.
Not quite as good as other plantronics equipment     On: 2005-07-20

I love plantronics, and have bought more than one product from them. I was very pleased with this one having all the control you could want (tone, incoming volume, outgoing volume) but a key ingredient, the wire to the headset, is too short and too easily twisted, making the headset more difficult to use than it should be. The holder for the headset is also a weak link.

Overall, for the price it is very good, but it does have these annoying limitations.
Nice when they work     On: 2004-07-28

I have had two of these phones now. Each has been comfortable and functional. Both have died within a year. The headset is fine, but the telephone stops working. The buttons stop functioning. You can get a refurb off warranty for $35 but it is only good for a year or less.
Would be a great product if it lasted.
