These speakers are very lightweight and much smaller than I thought but the sound that comes out is surprisingly loud even though it doesnt have the base sound to it. It also sounds very good without that tinny sound you sometimes hear. On: 2007-09-13
This speaker could be the best portable speaker I ever used. I have traveled from Japan to Europe through Mid-East, spent 2 years on the way.
The music is needed wherever I go and this speaker was my partner on the trip.
The sound is incredibly good from the size of the body, and this is so compact to carry. During the travel, I didnt see a lot of trouble of the quality and work so long; doesnt seem to get broken so easily.
The sound can be so loud as this has 2w; 2w is really huge output for portable speaker. You will not find any portable speaker as louder as this is. Of course, batteries only last a couple of hours, but that is because this creates a loud sound.
Hope this helps you On: 2007-03-28
I am very happy with this product. The sound is quite good for a small unit running on batteries. Even with the sound turned on quite loud, it doesnt distort the sound much at all.
Very happy. On: 2006-04-14
Sound quality is pretty good. The design is unacceptable imo. Battery door keeps popping open. Theres no place for the wire to retract when not in use. It takes 4 AA batteries and it should be bundled with an AC adaptor. On: 2006-01-27
These have worked for years, enduring transatlantic trips to Ireland and England. Very rugged, great sound even though you cant separate the speakers. Take 4 AAs. Looses a star because the wire does not fold or wrap neatly anywhere, hangs loose!! Come on Sony, its the small cleaver details that keeps your products on top. On: 2005-12-25
Basically like a cheap pc speaks and have decent bass. dont expect rich sound from these but u will get pretty ok sound. Does eat batteries pretty fast. They are terribly designed imo, the battery pack wants to shoot out, foldable but not secure, bulky with a cord hangin around. I broke the left speaker joint in about 3 months, it still works fine but no more folding and i get a left speak that hangs out with my cord. On: 2004-10-16
I have to admit that these speakers sound great, especially for their size. However, batteries only last a couple of hours. I had ordered these for my computer system at work. So, I searched for the AC adapter, and it has been discontinued. And, even when it was available, it was $29.99! Almost as much as the speakers! Sometimes it gets frustrating that Sony makes all their adapters proprietary, so that universal adapters wont work. On: 2004-05-06
First of all, I would like to say that Sony T55 speaker is really an amazing product, I have friends heard the sound and immedialty asked me where to buy,and later, she got 2 sets, one for herself and the other as a gift to her boss@_@. Since I am so pleased with the now-discontinued-model T55 speak I brought last year, I went to Sony show room yesterday and wanted to get a new one. But the salesman told me that the model was discontinued, and he suggest me to get the new T57. Althougt I dont like the new color pattern of T57, I finally brought a blue one back home(after all, what matters most is the sound of speakers, not the looks of them,right?).... However, after 24 hours break-in, I found that the new T57 is not as good as my old T55, in terms of the sound quality: it lacks of the lovely mid-bass which T55 generate and is overall not as balance as the old model...I am disappointed to Sony this time...So I strongly recommand anyone who are looking for a great sound quality, small and portable speaker to consider T55 before they are out of stock. Well, T57 is not that bad, but you will miss T55 if you had heard the sound of both model...
