Under counter TV/DVD/CD/Clock/Radio     On: 2008-05-12

I really love this TV/DVD/Radio/CD/Clock/AM/FM Radio and speaker phone. Yes,it is even a speaker phone if you plug it into a telephone jack. It can be used as a baby monitor with a few add ons.

The best thing is that it is very slim and compact, you barely see it under the counter until you pull the screen down. It has a 10.2" wide-screen LCD TV. It of course doesnt have the picture quality that a plasma has but it is fine for the kitchen. I love being able to put in a DVD for my grandkids while they eat their lunch and watch the news while fixing breakfast.
Audiovox VE1020 10.2" Rocks!     On: 2008-04-05

The product is the best deal for you money. It is a great product which delivers on all promises...the hardest part was the installation but that too was made easy with the clear instructions and drilling diagram and mounting brackets...all included. Highly recommend, I doubt youll find a better product with this size screen for less. Plus service is really good and a reputation to back it up. Would purchase from them again. Thanks and happy shopping. Dave
Might be OK - hard to tell     On: 2008-03-13

Received the unit and it almost immediately had video problems. Installation went well and the product looks good. But the screen would blank out after a few hrs of being on and the audio would continue to work.

Sent back to seller who promptly sent a new unit. So far so good.
Good product     On: 2008-03-08

This is a very nice unit.. it was easy to set up and install, the controls are super easy to use. Nice, clear picture. I recomend this TV to everyone.
Broken...again!     On: 2007-03-23

As others have reviewed my units TV screen went blank just a couple weeks out of warranty. Sent it to Audiovox and was charged for repair. One year later the screen has broken again.
Very poor quality for what we paid. Horrible warranty.
Would not recommend this. Go for the Sony!
Huge disappointment     On: 2005-12-22

I have had nothing but issues with this product. The screen displays is washed out and the adjustment controls are too limited to fix this. The DVD player constantly skips. The radio antenna is a waste of time. It doesnt pick up anything but the strongest signals and even then with some static. I was leary of an Audiovox product, but wanted the larger screen. My opinion is to forget the extra inch and get the Sony.
Do not buy from Audiovox     On: 2005-11-24

This TV broke in the first two weeks I owned it. Both the picture and audio would not work. I brought it to a local repair shop that could not fix it - I called the company and was just outside of their 90 day warranty and they did nothing for me.

I would never buy from them again.
Unit failed at 4 months     On: 2005-11-09

I like the picture and size of the unit. The sound is a little tinny. Biggest problem is short warranty period. My unit failed after 4 months of occassional use and Audiovox said "too bad it is out of warranty." Maybe they know there is a problem and do not or cannot fix. 90 days for a $400 TV is way too short.

Great TV/DVD/CD     On: 2005-11-06

I really do like this TV/DVD/CD, but I was disappointed with the radio. Maybe the location of the unit is not optinimal, but I dont get very many stations in good, most have static. I do live on Long Island, not too far from the city, so there are alot of radio stations, and I can usually pick up many without static, but not on this unit. The TV works perfectly, so does the DVD and CD. Its very easy to use. The picture is fantastic, and the TV screen swivels in any direction, which is really nice. The screen is also a nice size, easy to see from anywhere in my kitchen. The only other thing thats a pain is the screens locked postion faces the counter rather than facing up so its harder to keep clean. But overall, I really am happy with the TV and I do recommeded it.
Display went dead just when the 90day warranty was up     On: 2005-09-10

Just turned it on last night and no picture. Sound, ok. Will play CDs but display used to light up when playing music - not now. When you push the menu or display button nothing happens.

I called Audiovoxs customer service and have been "on hold" for quite awhile. I will ask if there is anything I can do to fix this and I will get back to you.
For now I would say: Buyer Beware!!!
Nice quality, somewhat pricey     On: 2005-02-21

Purchased this for the kitchen and installed it pretty much as directed. (If you have more than one-inch overhang on your kitchen shelves you need to do a little extra installation work.) The main selling point for me was the larger screen vs. most other kitchen slimline units and the fact that it has the DVD.

After a couple of months, Im still happy with it. The controls are nicely designed, sound is good, but the picture is mediocre compared to current TVs. Compared to recent LCDs, even low end ones, its so-so -- but certainly adequate for kitchen viewing.

Two other thoughts: first, it would be nice if the TV would lock in the up position with the screen hidden and less exposed to kitchen dirt and flying food. (We have toddlers.) Second, the DVD is fairly sensitive to dirty discs versus our other player. So far a paper towel and some window cleaner does the trick though.

The best christmas gift!     On: 2005-01-16

My husband surpirsed me with this for christmas. Since I spend so much time in our kitchen this is the perfect gift for the chef in your home. The sound and the quality of the picture are great. I think the dvd quality is much better than watching the tv. I highly recommend this! The size is also perfect, it is not to obnoxious in the kitchen. It is very sleek and discreet.

Good w/ annoyances     On: 2005-01-08

Got this for my wifes christmas present. In general, it all works rather well. DVD, TV and Radio (phone part untested) all work well and look good. Sound is decent. However, there are some things Audiovox ought to improve upon:

1. IR remote control reception is too finicky. It appears there are two IR receivers on the unit. One on the main unit and one below the TV screen. If you dont aim the remote control exactly perpenticular to one of those two receivers, the remote control isnt picked up. It could be the remote control shipped with the unit is weak. I can be only 5 feet away from the unit and the remote wont be picked up.

2. MP3 playback mode is weak. While it does play MP3s, it will only shuffle within folders. Also, it doesnt read the ID3 tags of the MP3 files. All you will see is the file name (which is truncated way too short in my opinion). It also isnt easy to get the CD in shuffle mode (lots of button clicks).

3. Tough to get disks in/out. You have to be in DVD mode to get a disk (CD,DVD,etc) in/out of the unit. Something you can get used to but why not allow disks to be inserted/ejected while you are watching TV or listening to the radio?

4. I have not found a way to program a TV channel in or out of the channel lineup. When the unit first powers up, it does an autoscan of all channels you can receive. It appears you cant take out any channel it decided the signal was good enough for. Same for adding a channel.

5. You are unable to use the remote to jump memory presets. For instance, if you preset a radio station (it has 4 presets), you cant use the remote to jump to that preset (same for the TV). You have to go to the main console buttons to do it.

6. The viewable screen angle range isnt too hot. For the most part, you want to be viewing the screen on center.

It is possible some of these can be circumvented, but the accompying manual is extremely terse. Still, considering the bredth of media this player can deal with, I think it was a good purchase.

Won't show color     On: 2004-12-30

I got the 10.4" (which is discontinued)as a present for my Dad and it was impressive right out of the box. However the picture wouldnt display with color after the unit was warmed up (DVD picture was fine - just problems with the TV picture). I had the cable company check the signal just in case but the problem was in the set. Also the clock wouldnt set right. Ive reordered the 10.2" so Ill try again.
Top Notch!     On: 2004-10-02

Very compact, excellent picture and sound. A key feature is the ability to change the screen configuration; the default is widescreen (16:9), but you have the ability to change the proportions for a normal television picture or utilize the widescreen for DVDs.

We also found that it plays DVD+R and DVD+RW, even though thats not in the tech specs. Im not sure about the DVD-R/RW.

My only negative is that when not viewed the screen locks only with the screen facing down toward the countertop, which isnt optimal in a kitchen. It will close in the opposite direction, but not lock.

Other than that, a terrific find!
