Don't Buy One     On: 2007-06-12

I purchased this unit back in 2004 and now only 2 speakers.........the front left and right work. My next unit will definitely not be a Panasonic!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wasted my hard-earned money on this equipment.

Sorry I cannot give it ZERO stars!     On: 2006-07-24

I purchased this system 1.5 years ago from Walmart. Not a bad price and the sound was ok (while it worked). Some set up issues and arrangement problems due to short cables but all in all OK for the price.

However: little did I know that six months later, after not all that much use and sitting in one and only one location, it absolutely refused to put out sound! NO SOUND AT ALL except for the first few seconds playing a CD. Thats it! After that, nothing.

Six months of use is all I got for my money. Panasonic refused to answer my questions via their website. ARGHHHH!

NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE PANASONIC!!

PANASONIC MAKES GARBAGE!     On: 2006-04-11

HOME THEATER? - PANASONIC MAKES GARBAGE! (Consider before buying any Panasonic product.) I bought a DVD Home Theater Sound System, Panasonic Model SC-HT900 (more expensive than the 670 model) less than three years ago and the sound has gone out! The product had normal use and good care by two fifty-somethings. Panasonic has a service center over an hours drive away. After patronizing me as though I was an idiot, the Panasonic customer "care" person on the phone would not offer any breaks, other than a "slight discount" on the purchase of a newer model (equivalent to a retail sale). What gall - attempting to capitalize on their failed product! I have been told its not worth the anticipated cost of repairs. So after spending $500 on a product that looks brand new, two years later I have to trash it? My last surround sound system was a cheap RCA; actually lasted exactly three years (longer than the Panasonic) before it failed. We should not buy products from companies that do not take responsibility for their products. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY PANASONIC!

Wish I knew then what I know now.     On: 2005-07-02

Recently purched this "hearing aid" for my husband for fathers day. I truly like the look and felt I couldnt go wrong with the Panasonic brand. It took a few hours for me to attach wires but could not get it working. I enlisted the aid of a college tech person to get it up and running but I still have two cables with mini plugs that we cannot find ports for. The Subwoofer contains the amp so all the speaker wires are attached to the back of the Sub and a heavy duty cable attaches the Sub to the DVD. What this means is that the Sub must be placed beside the television. I cannot hide it next to a chair or sofa. Panasonic support told me to go to Radio Shack to see if I could get a longer cable or an extension as Panasonic did not make one. Had I known about this arrangement with the wires I would definitely not have purchased this model. Hiding the Sub is an important feature for me. But the sound is good so I have no complaints.

Mixed thoughts     On: 2005-01-06

The sound quality was amazing, eventhough I didnt get crank it up to a good level. DVD player portion broke after 2 days, would only display "wait" as soon as it was turned on and could not do anything except oddly being able to change the equalizer mode. Had to manually pull out trays to get my dvds back so that I could return the unit. I will give it one more shot because of the namebrand, sound quality and good price.
Worth every bit of the $317 Price tag.     On: 2004-12-27

I went and bought this home system from Wal-Mart today for a price of $317 and change after taxes and had it set up at home in about an hour. At first it would only play sound out of the speakers while playing DVDs, Cds or listening to the radio. I had to go back to Wal-Mart to buy a extra audio cable to get sound out of the speakers when watching normal TV. But believe me it is worth it. The sound is great when playing DVDs or watching TV. The radio feature is also an awesome feature. You can hit the radio button when a commercial comes on and listen to your favorite radio station then when the show comes back on just hit the TV button. It holds 5 DVDs which is very useful when watching shows like The Dukes Of Hazzard on DVD. Just put all 3 disks in and sit back and enjoy. The display is very nice to look at. It took some reading the instruction book to understand everything the remote does but I can now control my TV and VCR along with the console that comes with the system. The only thing I dont like about the remote is I can not find a button that is channel recall where you can and go back and forth between 2 channels with the push of one button. I keep my pictures that I take from my digital camera on a CD and you can put in the CD with pictures in the DVD player and look at them on your TV. It comes with plenty of feet of speaker wire to put your speakers just about where ever you want them. It also looks very good. You can adjust the volume on the center, left, right, and sub speakers which is a nice touch. If you like to have friends or family over to watch movies this system is a very good one to get, they will be impressed. I have an X-box and if you have the unit turned on to TV you will hear the sound through the speakers. There is quite a bit of stuff to the system so buy yourself one and enjoy.

Stay away from Panasonic!     On: 2004-12-24

Customer Service - the Panasonic website claims this is very important to them. I had my home theater only 3-4 months when a VCR tape got stuck. I has now been at the service center for almost 4 months! When I am lucky enough to get a response from Panasonic (which is rare), they make promises of completion and/or replacement. But promises wont play the DVDs my family would have liked to watch together over the holidays. When we finally got through to the customer service center on the phone, they had the nerve to hand up on us twice. IF YOU WANT A COMPANY TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS - STAY AWAY FROM PANASONIC!!! I have truly given up hope of even getting my home theater back from the Panasonic service center.

Great sound....lack of ability to use it!     On: 2004-09-15

I recently purchased this unit from a local retail store. After getting it home and setting it up i turned on the built-in radio first. It sounded pretty good...nice bass and treble...good sterio 2 channel sound. Next I tried a dvd (minority report) and was amazed by the life-like surround sound. Next i wanted to try my xbox and digital cable. This is where things started to go wrong. The Panasonic SC-HT670 as no digital optical inputs (required for Dolby surround from the xbox and my cable box). As I investigated this further, i also found that this Panasonic unit has no coxial digital inputs for dolby or dts sound either. In fact, it has no digital inputs at all!!!!!!!! So I cant get digital quality (dolby or dts) sound from my xbox, cable box, or any other device i own. Dolby surround is only possible from the built-in dvd play that comes with the unit.

In conclusion, spend a little bit more money and get a system with digital inputs that will work with your other a/v components.

Panasonic, where are the optical inputs!!!!

I recently bought this system and have no complaints except for the lack of a 5.1 optical input plug.

It only has RCA (red & white) input plugs. 3 pairs of them so that you can connect a VCR, Game system #1, and Game system #2.

The sound is very good because the system has its own sound processor with multiple options such as Hall, Party, Soft, etc.

It also has a zoom option of 6 different sizes. So you can reduce the black lines on widescreen formatted movies. It is important to note that some more expensive home theater systems made by other companies, do not have any zoom feature. Even some Sony models do not have zoom.

A Tip for great picture = In the display menu, there is an option called "ANIMATION" and it gives very sharp life-like picture to regular movies.
A Great Buy     On: 2004-08-26

Recently purchased to replace multiple unit system w/ Bose Speakers. The sound from this system is the same as the more expensive Bose system. Easy to use and install. A great buy for the money
The System in Which I Am Well Pleased

My wife and I bought this Panasonic Home Theatre Package August 16, 2004 for my birthday and we are completely content with the purchase. The set up was simple and the surround sound is spectacular; and all of this (and so much more) for a very reasonable price. You can buy with confidence this simple system which allows for a myriad of adjustments and sound combinations that will bring enjoyment to movie night at home.
