All highs, no mid or bass     On: 2007-02-04

After reading several reviews online that praised this system very highly, I decided to make the purchase without listening to them in person first. The reviews online were convincing that this system produced great sound.

Boy do I regret buying these speakers. I list the pros and cons, and show how the cons outweigh the pros:

PROS:
- very clear highs
- nice aluminum enclosures and weighted feel

CONS:
- the woofers on the satellite speakers are actually 2.5 inch instead of 3.5 inch, just like the other reviewer said
- there is practically no mid tones. This means all you get are highs which make the sound very "bright"
- for a subwoofer that is 10" and 150 watts, it is weak. I have a Polk Audio PSW10 subwoofer that is also 10" and 100 watts and the Polk is so much better than the Infinity sub. The Infinity sub is weak and the bass is low.

I really dont mind the weak sub, the satellites really stink. All they do is produce highs and no mids. Like I said, the sound is way too "bright". Get the Polk Audio RM6750 or RM6800 instead for a cheaper price and much better performance.

OK for the price, but Infinity lies in specs in spec chart about mid range driver size     On: 2007-01-27

After reviewing the many different surround systems online I finally came to purchasing the infinity. A strong consideration was given for the polk rm6800 as well, but the $250 price difference didnt seem to be worth the little extra praise that system won in various reviews. Detailed below is pros and cons of the system:

Pros:
1. The sub sound great, there isnt any muddiness to the sound. Options like LFE, rca line, and crossover make this a good buy.

2. The system looks great. It also sounds great when watching movies, for such a tiny system, you sure feel like youre "in" the movie.

Cons:
1. Tiny satellites. The specs given for the tss 750 include 3 1/2" mid range drivers. Too bad theyre actually only 2 1/2" drivers. Why is this a problem? I was hoping to use this for music as well, but the midrange is lifeless and lackluster to say the least. I had listened to the Polk system and had been impressed with how the 3 1/2" drivers on that system gave a good sound to music in the store. The infinity system was not hooked up, so I made the decision that sound would be similar... BIG MISTAKE!

Im currently trying to send this back and replace it with the polk system. Unfortunately Ive had it for 21 days and the 14 day return policy is killing me. Perhaps Ill order some new bookshelf front speakers (bummer, how will that go with the rest of the sytem?), change the system to 7.1, and Ill have a frankenstein system - totally defeating the purpose of buying packaged speakers.

Would I buy this again?

At this point, absolutely not, but if I cant return it, Ill post the conclusion of adding new fronts in the next month...
