This was bought for my 15 year old daughter to watch movies on when she didnt want to watch what we were watching, needless to say she loves it, and never watches T.V. with us. She was also impressed with all the features, you can do stuff with your digital pictures, and all manner of things I cant understand, youve got to be a kid to run all the extras!~!! On: 2008-01-27
This was a gift for my 83 year old mother, and she LOVES IT! Couldnt be more pleased! Very fast shipping! Helpful people when I gave the incorrect address. Thank you! On: 2007-11-29
It "worked" for little more than a year, but never satisfactorily. The sound was always tinny & the machine was overly sensitive to flaws & scratches in the DVD, often freezing up (usually at climactic moments in the film), which required me to transfer the DVD to my computer or home player, where it worked fine. Also, whenever I used the controls to rewind, fast forward, pause, etc. I knew I would soon pay the price of the film freezing up. So it only worked with perfect DVDs & then only if you watched the film straight through. Then one fine night, without warning, the motor stopped spinning & that was THE END. On: 2007-09-25
I purchased this dvd player, I had to send it back to the company that sent it to me, for the lens on the dvd player was defective, on the first time of using it. It randomly chose what dvds it wanted to play. But after i sent it back, i received another one, with no problems. It works fine.
Only thing is that you have to be delicate with it, especially with the cover to where the dvd is placed, and the lens that reads the dvd. Anything little thing, could cause a scratch and prevent it from working. On: 2007-07-14
i have a 2 hour layover at my job and this has been a life saver i love it. and i would do business with these people again, thanks guys and gals On: 2007-07-08
We purchased this unit several months ago. We got this unit for our 3 year old to watch movies on when we travel. It was a replacement for a Kawasaki unit that had recently died on us after a year or so. I expect the life of this unit should be better but I would not expect anything more than two years. My daughter uses it at home as well for maybe 30-60 minutes a day. The picture is very good, better than the Kawasaki. On: 2007-06-26
I bought this for my boyfriend because he travels a lot and so far its been great. The sound isnt that great without headphones, but he only uses it with headphones so its not really an issue.. The screen is huge! Just about as big as my laptop screen. Battery life is decent. If its fully charged lasts about 3 hours. On: 2007-06-12
Im pretty sure the original ad by vendor said that it has a SD/MMC slot, since I googled search it. Now its not there anymore, and Im stuck with D2010 instead of D2016. I will not buy another product from this vendor.

This item was purchased as a gift for my daughter and sent directly to her. Unfortuntely I can not speak to the quality of the product. The box arrived unsealed and the product "blacked out" periodically when playing a video. My daughter returned it to the vendor after much haggling about shipping, and so far we have heard nothing back. On: 2007-05-08
Ive owned this player for almost a year now and it no longer recognizes a disc. It worked fine for the first three months or so, then the picture started freezing. It would freeze, then unfreeze, sometimes jumping several scenes into the movie in the process. Sometimes it would just freeze and eventually not recognize the disc. I thought at first that it was a dirt spot on the disc, but I eventually figured out that the lens moves back and forth across the underside of the disc and the mechanism that moves it sticks, particularly when viewing the outside edge of the disc. Of course by the time it started acting up it was no longer under warranty. I went back and forth via e-mail with the Audiovox folks, but they would have nothing to do with it unless I wanted to pay. This seemed ridiculous because the service charges are pretty much what it would cost to buy a new one.
When this one worked, it was great. I watch quite a lot of TV on DVD and this particular model will adjust for full screen so you can actually see the actors as they really are. The screen is nice and large and I found the sound adequate for my purposes. The battery lasts a good three hours. If only Audiovox had designed the lens mechanism differently! On: 2007-05-08
Poor construction quality. Noisey. 2 Dead Pixels. I would not buy another one. On: 2007-05-07
I think everyone who enjoys travel should own this player. I find the slim style and large screen to be exactly what I was searching for. It uses AC/DC, is perfect for travel to anywhere in the world. As I do travel I find this to be a great feature....one that not many other brands offer. Easy installation for use in a vehicle is just one more great feature. The picture is crystal clear, the ease of use couldnt be better and the overall design is very pleasing to the eye. The one and only complaint I have is that to get the full quality of sound one should wear headphones. Apart from that I find this player to be fantastic....especially for the price. I am not an expert on such things but I do feel the overall quality to be very comparible to other more expensive portable DVD players.
I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this item to anyone. I am a very happy customer. Thank you! On: 2007-03-30
We purchased this for an upcoming two day car trip with kids, so they can watch movies or play Playstation. Weve had the unit for a few days and have used it several times, and so far, it works great. Big, beautiful picture and good sound quality for the price. Works great with the Playstation and includes necessary cables, though youll need to buy some couplers to hook them together. On: 2007-03-11
great picture but the sound and the speakers are garbage. headphones being used, sound is fine. dont buy this product unless you only use headphones. On: 2007-01-03
I took the player to my relative s house on Thanksgiving. I like that you can use 2 headsets with it and the sound is great. Its great for watching anything you want to see. You hear sounds that you couldt hear otherwise with a headset plugged in. Its great for watching dvds that someone else in your household doesnt want to see ( with the headset). I love mine and I use it frequently. by: Anonymous On: 2006-12-26
I just got this for Christmas and I have to say that this portable dvd player beats many of the more expensive dvd players out there. My friend has a Philips portable dvd player that has a smaller screen, not as good picture quality, and you can barely hear the sound and he got it at about the same price as I got this one. This one has a huge screen, really loud sound, and phenomenal picture quality. Not to mention, the player is very thin and modern looking. Im very pleased with this dvd player!!!
Oh, I have a question though.
When I first opened the box, I plugged it in right away and I heard this funky sound every time it turned on. So I opened the place where you put in the dvd and I forgot to take out the tag that says "remove before operating". Do you think that affected my dvd player at all because when Im watching the movie I can sometime hear the dvd spinning...is that normal or did that "remove before operating" tag mess it up?
Thanks. On: 2006-08-28
this player makes each dvd seem like an actual movie in the theater.theres nothing lacking in either audio or video. On: 2006-05-02
This is the second Audiovox portable dvd player I have owned and it is a great product. Lightweight, great picture and affordable. This is the best "bang for your buck" portable dvd player available.
I agree with a couple of the other reviewers that the speakers arent real loud, but I have found that to be the case with every portable player I have tried. All you need to get is good set of wireless headphones and you are set.
This a great product and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, but yet quality player that offers a great looking 10.2" screen.

Why a player cant keep running for as long as computer DVD players is beyond me. I didnt really use it all that much.
Now that its past the meager 90 day warranty, it will cost a $155 flat repair fee to have it fixed.
I am not going to waste anymore money on this player. I purchased a 7" player for the same amount it would have taken to get this one fixed.

Ive have the player for 3 month and have had no problems.
The good: ease of use -- my 10 year old worked with no problems-- excellent picture quality --- not bad price on Amazon--good accessory package
The bad : poor sound (without headphones)
Over All satisfied w/purchase On: 2005-09-11
It all began after a few hours worth of use, the head began to jump and thrash inside the unit. Brand new player and a new DVD. I called Audiovox and was told that DVD was scratched or dirty. I repeated that I had tried several DVDs fresh out of their cases with the same results. OK, then the tech decided the head was dirty and I was instructed that I must buy and use a DVD head cleaner, a disc that looks like a false eyelash has been glued to it. I mentioned that this DVD player was brand new and nothing had been allowed to near the head. In the end, I bought a cleaner and the problem persisted.
The second call to Audiovox went the same, though I told them it happen when using brand new DVDs, the DVD must be scratched or dirty. Once we got past that, the head was dirty, though the unit was new and I had now used a head cleaner. Eventually this tech caved in and told me what to do to send the unit in for repair.
Over three weeks later we received a refurbished player tossed into a box without the batteries for the headphones and the remote. A quick call to the support department got me the watch battery for the remote, but they forgot the headphone batteries.
This one seemed to work fine, until the night we tried to watch Return of the King, halfway through... whirrrr... clunk... clunk... burp... clunk... whirrrr... (It really hates the transition point on dual layer DVDs)
Another phone call to Audiovox and the same response, "the DVD or the head must be dirty"... I gave up...

As others have said, the sound really is weak and "tinny" and unless you can keep your head still for an entire movie, the wireless headphones are worthless. Plus the fact that you may be gambling on getting a junk player (If you do, save yourself the hassle and three week wait by taking it straight back to the store.) caused me to rate this player so low. I found this product to be very user friendly. Its ultraslim design makes it ideal for traveling. Its not heavy or bulky. The play back quality is excellent and the battery life is good. Over all 5 stars. On: 2005-09-10

I purchased this to replace a buggy 7" CyberHome unit that didnt work very well. I really love everything about this model. The slim design and large screen are great. The external snap on/off battery is genius - The features and controls are wonderful and it is so easy to use....BUT, like another reviewer mentioned, the picture is WAY too fuzzy and soft for my taste :(
It probably isnt fair to compare the picture to my CyberHome 7" unit because I understand you loose some sharpness and clarity when you go up in size but its hard not to compare and be disapointed in the picture quality of this otherwise excellent machine.

I know that this product seems great. It has almost everything built into it, especially a VERY FRAGILE SCREEN. I bought this DVD player and a 2 year Service Plan. My screen broke within a month (especially when I was extremely careful), as does some of Audiovoxs other products (dont believe me, surf the web). Audiovox said that they didnt cover broken screens, even though its the most delicate part of the system. They were going to charge me $200 to repair it and then give me another 90 day warranty. If it broke again, they were going to charge me AGAIN. I admit, I LOVE the DVD player. But if you value your money, make sure you know what the warranty covers. Audiovox has some issues and the customer service isnt that helpful. Buyers, you have been warned. I surely dont intend on spending $600 or more for this product which should be covered. by: think42day On: 2005-01-09
I prefer to have my life uncluttered by excess hence my decision to purchase the AudioVox D2010 Portable DVD Player. Though I could use my Notebook Computer for this, it is a solid and gutsy work machine, dropped frames made this purchase a must.
Although a bit pricey, its small enough to maintain its mobility for an active person while at the same time giving you a great 10inch view. Thats just enough for me.
The Screen is bright and very clear. The different settings such as video size are all there.
Lastly, it really has a solid construction to it and appears highly durable. I think Ill get many years of use out of this unit. On: 2004-12-18
Purchased the portable DVD player in July, 2004 from shopharmony.com for $379. The accessories are great: remote, a/c and d/c plugs, stereo cable, RCA cables for L/R & video, car mount for inbetween seats or back of seat. Features are very user friendly for kids and provide enough versatility even for adults. Volume is excellent and left/right earphone jacks are really useful. Picture quality is adequate for my 8 year old, but I am used to laptop monitors with much higher quality video displays. Video is too soft for my taste. I prefer clearer and sharper images. Also experienced a major technical problem with the Read Head after only a few months. The video would start to skip on a brand new DVD and you could hear the Read Head thrashing back and forth as if looking for a spot on the DVD. I decided to manually move the Read Head by sliding it up/down. This cleared up the problem for awhile. Next time it happened (on a brand new DVD again) I repeated the procedure and it worked again. Maybe I received a lemon. It took me 3 weeks to get it because of delays in shipping from Audiovox...guess it was an early model. Im a little troubled by the fact that shopharmony.com no longer carries this model. Final analysis...good for kids on long trips as long as you can afford it! On: 2004-11-27
this dvd player works the best. i just bought it and on the evacuation from Ivan, i brought it in the car with me with my xbox. it made the seventeen hour drive seem like a fifteen minute drive to go get mcdonalds. On: 2004-08-14
I JUS PURCHASED THIS DVD PLAYER YESTERDAY, AND ALL I CAN SAY IS
VERY GOOD.. THIS PLAYER HAS A VERY CLEAR PCITURE,NOT LIKE OTHER UNITS THAT SEEM FUZZY AND NOT CLEAR SOMETIMES. IT IS VERY LIGHT COMPARED TO OTHER PLAYERS,THE BATTERY IS LIGHT ALSO AND NOT HEAVY, AND THE SOUND IS GOOD ALSO, THE SCREEN IS 10" NOT 10.2 LIKE THEY SAY, BUT THATS THE SAME ON ALL MODELS, SAMSUNG, MINTEK ETC....YOU ALSO GET A STRAPON SEAT COVER WITH IT, REMOTE AND THE USUAL CABLES.. GOT THIS UNIT FOR $400.00 AT J&R MUSIC WORLD WITH A PRICE MATCH, WHO ALWAYS ARE VERY GOOD WITH ORDERING, RETURNING ITEMS, AND MATCHING PRICES ON ITEMS..IF YOU DON,T MIND SPENDING THIS MUCH FOR A PORTABLE DVD PLAYER BUY THIS UNIT YOU WON,T REGRET IT.AND AUDIOVOX IS A NAME THATS KNOW FOR CAR VIDEO..THAT A WAY TO GO AUDIOVOX...
