Worst portable Dvd player ever!     On: 2008-02-24

This item was brand new right out of the box. It hasnt worked correctly at all. The dvd stopped playing in the middle of it. I tried using several dvds and it still happened. The picture quality is horrible. As if something happened to the screen, it was fuzzy and horrible. The sound was low and even when you turn it up its bad. There was not one good thing about this dvd player. I would not recommend this player to anyone who values their money.Do not buy this unit.

Great, but don't expect it to last long     On: 2006-08-29

Ive owned two of these now. The screens great and I love the wireless headphones -- terrific for very small children. Our 2-year-old drove to New Mexico and back (well, we drove and he watched videos) with this thing.

Unfortunately, both units broke after less than a year of use. The first one just stopped working (with a DVD permanently trapped inside). The second one just developed an intermittent white-out and screen noise thats happening once a minute now. So I am reluctantly abandoning this nice but very poorly made product and trying a different one.

All of these little players seem to have reliability problems, so my main advice to everybody is BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY and make sure the warranty you buy will work swiftly and easily with no hassles -- you WILL be cashing it in.
Great Product for a decent price...     On: 2006-08-24

So far it has been a great experience, I conect my unit to the TV and I take it with me when I travel. It is not a HD DVD player... so be aware of that. In my opinion, for the price it is the smallest and lighter to carry of all portable DVDs with a very good screen and picture.
Needs more QA During Product Development     On: 2005-12-22

We were given this as a gift by our childs aunt and uncle for use when travelling. They had the same model which they had used for a while.

The player worked OK. It had very poor balance for use in a car with poor shocks. It would cause the DVDs to skip a lot. It was also difficult to adjust the carrier to fit in various cars we travelled in and almost impossible to hook onto an airplane seat.

We lost the remote shortly after getting it so we could not skip any pre-menu ads or navigate the DVD menu options with just the player. Not good at all. At that point we might as well just use our laptop.
Great price, good product     On: 2005-10-24

This item is a very good buy. It cheaper than most but good quality.
BAD PRODUCT     On: 2005-10-12

THIS IS THE SECOND ( IN SIX MONTHS ) OF THESE UNITS I HAVE BOUGHT. ONLY FOR THE SPECS AND ESPECCIALLY THE SIZE. THE BATTERY FOLDS OVER , FLAT ON THE BACK OF THE SCREEN SO IT IS LESS BULKY. HOWEVER I FOUND OUT THEY DONT LAST VERY LONG . THE FIRST UNIT THE HINGES JUST SNAPPED OFF, THE SECOND, THE SCREEN WENT DEAD AFTER ONLY DAYS OF USE.
Bad quality     On: 2005-09-29

Great features and well thought out. But the quality is horrible. Mine randomly ejected disks and screen started going bad after only 2 weeks. Afraid to buy anything Audiovox or EddieBauer after this. Luckily was returned for refund.
save your money, get something else     On: 2005-07-26

this is one lousy expensive player. as one of the reviewer mentioned, the hinge on the battery unit will break. i had the unit replaced by the manufacturer as part of the warranty. but, after a few weeks, it broke again, at exactly the same spot. AudioVox refused to have it replaced again because the 90 day warranty period is over. Also, it constantly freezes playing home made DVD movies, regardless of the format of the DVD disc, not to mention I can hardly read subtitle text. i wish they had a money back guarantee.
Don't buy the Audiovox D1750T, it WILL break!     On: 2005-06-23

Hello, this is my first Amazon review, actually my first anywhere review. I normally depend on reading reviews but was never so affected by a product, positive or negative, that I felt a need to write a review. My experience with Audiovoxs D1750T DVD player has changed that.

Ill put it as plainly as this: If you buy this product, it WILL break. That is a fact.

That says it all, and the rest may get long winded, but read on if you want to know how/why it will break. I purchased this product 6 months ago. After 2 months the hinge on the battery that allows you to set the unit on a tabletop and watch hands-free broke. I thought it was a fluke but was able to get a replacement. Now my second battery has broken in the exact same place, the exact same way, and thats after the fact that I did my best to handle the unit with the utmost care, since I thought it might have been my fault the first time.

It is now clear to me that this is a manufacturing error, one in fact that Audiovoxs Customer Service representative acknowledged yet refused to do anything about since I was outside the 90 days warranty. Unfortunately Ive only found one other person online whos written about it (epinions.com) but thats out of maybe 6 total reviews Ive found anywhere online.

The player gets 2 stars from me because battery issues aside, its a decent player at a decent price. The resolution and sound without headphones leave something to be desired, but if you can pick it up for $200 or less it would be a good player as far as screen size and general quality goes. But this battery issue and subsequent customer service issue is unacceptable. People need to be warned when theyre buying something that is flawed in its manufacturing and will break.

Another warning is that the paint(?) or whatever it is that makes the sides of the unit black has started to flake so now the units good looking design is marred.... insult to injury I tell ya! Bottom line, I say dont buy it, but if youll be using it in such a way that you wont use the batterys stand (btw, theres a stand that flips off the back if youre using the unit with external power. Ive never had a use for it.), then I guess its a decent player. Ill bet theres better ones out there for the money though.

P.S. I finally managed to strongarm a higher-up at Audiovox into replacing the battery for free.... this time. Fingers crossed THIS one doesnt break too....
Best DVD Ever bought compare to All DVD player in my theater     On: 2005-01-27

I bought this one from circuit city under One Fifty Dollars First impression was it played all my son srcatched DVDs about total 12 Dvds without ship. I was about to give to BLOCKBUSTER to get Free rental coupons. But I am glad with this purchase.

My Mom bought DVD from INDIA which are not original. They are playing well in this unit without any skip but in my home theater my expensive Progressive pionner DVD player plays for only 5 seconds and freeze which has twin laser pick ups. DO THE MATH.

Now, circuit city does not offer but It was best DVD player on Moving vehicle
Returned It - Screen Went Blank     On: 2005-01-21

I really wish this product had been better designed because I loved the fact that its a tablet style and its a lot easier to hold and watch, especially when you are sitting in tight spots like a bus or plane, and space is at a premium.

Alas, my unit had several problems and I decided to return it. The biggest problem was that after about 3 days of use, the screen went blank on me when I turned it on. I had to fiddle with the battery pack and plug it into the A/C adaptor to get the screen picture to come back on. A few days later, it happened again, and then again.

The other big problem was that it really didnt like playing DVDs that I burned myself. It played regular store DVDs well, but when I played my own burned DVDs, whether it was DVD+R or DVD-R, the players picture would constantly freeze. It just couldnt handle the slightest imperfections on the disc, and since home-burned DVDs arent burned in the same fashion as commercial DVDs, this player was just too sensitive to successfully playback home burned DVDs.

The final concern was the fact that it didnt come with any kind of case, and there is no way to protect the screen while transporting it. I was very concerned that over time, the screen would get scratched and damaged. You would seriously need to consider buying a 3rd party case for this unit.

Design-wise, the tablet style is a great idea and I hope that more manufacturers start making tablet style units in the future.
bargain-- this is a great unit     On: 2004-12-23

we can use it in the car, take it with us to run on AC or on battery-- [...] it is very solid, well made. weve gone through 4 other flimsy designs. This is a very GOOD unit.
Great unit if it would work reliably     On: 2004-11-29

First time out of the box it had problems. We had the unit plugged into another Audiovox display and after an hour into the first movie the remote display would switch into black and white. Only way to get the color back was to turn the DVD player off for a few minutes then back on but the problem would always return. If allowed to play for more than two hours the DVD player would stop operating when held upright with any DVD. Worked fine if laid horizontally. The unit also ran very, very hot which might explain the other problems.
