Compact and simple. Worked perfectly with a borrowed German DVD with European Region Code. On: 2008-05-09
I bought one of these 3 years ago at the supermarket for less than $50. It was my first DVD player. I later learned that with a simple code entered into the remote, you could make it region free. (most of them come that way now. Mine didnt) Im not going to tell you this is the greatest player in the world, it isnt by far. I will say that if you are looking for a cost effective way to play DVDs from out of your region, or you just want a cheap player for the kids room, this is fine. If it dies, or the kids screw it up, you are out $30. Its a no-brainer. On: 2008-03-26
As you may or may not know, Cyberhome actually went out of business. Something with the legality of their products was awry and they were more or less shutdown by the government. It is important to know that anything you purchase with the Cyberhome name is not only no longer under any type of warranty; it may be also hard to get it repaired or even replaced at a reasonable cost. This DVD player does exactly what I want it to do. It plays any region or format of disc with no fuss at all. It was decently priced for a multi-regional DVD player. But it also makes a lot of God-Awful noises sometimes. I am not really sure how long it will last, but somehow I feel as if it wont last as long as other players Ive had. I reccommend this so highly only because now I can watch The Mighty Boosh and Darkplace on my TV! On: 2008-03-05
Got this player recently from Worldwide Distributors through Amazon and were very happy with how well it works. Had one little hiccup at the very beginning trying to set up the region free option. It was 9pm and the enclosed letter stated that the helpline closed at 5pm. Took a chance and dialed the number - to our delight a technical representative took our call. He trouble shooted with us and by the time we hung up our player was ready to go. Most excellent service and the player is great. We can now play our UK DVDs! On: 2008-03-01
great player to play pal movies! we have 2 of them and never had a problem in 2 years of everyday use. On: 2008-02-15
You get what you pay for. I was upset that my player did not work with component cables. Works decently with the regular cable and does play multi region DVDs. You are better off investing in a nicer player. On: 2008-02-11
I ordered one of these machines and it didnt work properly. It would skip and reject disks. I ordered a replacement and it didnt work at all. I would not recommend buying this brand at all. Not only has the company gone bankrupt, but the warranty information is several years old. It is not worth your trouble. I recommend spending more money for a product that works. On: 2008-01-29
As with some other reviewers, mine worked great playing region-free for less than a year, then stopped recognizing any discs -- DVDs or CDs. If you can find it for $25, its a buy. But in any case, plan that its disposable. On: 2008-01-20
I primarily bought this player because of the multi-voltage and the code-free option. It worked great for a year and after that for some reason it is not recognizing the DVD or CD. Looks like the drive or the laser sensor might have failed and it is worth to buy a new one instead of fixing it. For the price which I paid, it is reasonable, On: 2007-12-28
Very choppy video playing - sort of a freeze frame effect, especially on panned shots. Also background sound cuts in and out. Freezes the video frequently. I plan to return it. On: 2007-12-27
I love this little DVD player. Ive had it for over nine months and I havent had any problems. It worked right out of the box and plays anything I put in it from my DVDs from the UK to my Asian ones. I bought it just to play non-US DVDs but now I use it all the time and my much more expensive Sony DVD player is now a paperweight. by: ccumbrowski On: 2007-10-12
I bought the DVD player as second player next to my Sony for the single purpose of being able to play my European DVDs (Region Code 2, PAL) with it.
The DVD quality for regular RC1/NTSC is not very impressive and I would not recommend it just for this purpose, but if you have to play foreign DVDs and dont want the hassle, this DVD player is the way to go. On: 2007-09-22
a great dvd player, and favorite for us who worked on cruise ships, and bought a dvd from a guy selling first run movies in turkey, or borrowing one from a friend from south africa. i had my first one for about five years until i left it on pause for a month. not, as cheap as i got it before but would pay more. On: 2007-09-20
My friend and I both have the same Cyberhome dvd player. My player plays almost all PAL DVDs but we both had this set of DVDs from Greece. My player would NOT play them... either my set or my friends set. His player played both sets.
I tried and tried.. nothing worked. And with the company out of business, there is no solution. On: 2007-09-15
It is the best thing I bought so far. Very promising product. Reads all types of CD,DVD,MP3s. It is indeed a region free dvd player because it reads any CD/DVD. I recommend this product highly and its worth buying. On: 2007-08-28
I finally decided to purchase this DVD player after searching many other DVD players. I needed a region free one for me to watch DVD from Japan. Except the fact shipping and handling was little bit expensive and it didn t have good tracking system, the item FINALLY arrived and just little bit confusion, I was able to change the setting to region free. It has been working good ever since. I would recommend this items to everyone who is needing region free DVD player. On: 2007-08-25
The DVD player is working great. Ive been watching both my American and German DVDs with it, and I havent had any problems. On: 2007-08-13
I bought my first one last December and it was great for 6 or 7 months. Then it stopped working suddenly and couldnt be fixed, so I ordered another one since theyre cheap. That one didnt work at all and the company I ordered it from was fairly unhelpful. So now Ill try another one (from a different seller!) and hopefully this one will work for a while. For the money, my first one worked very well.... until it didnt. I had no problems with it reading any disk I put in and it was very user friendly. Well see! On: 2007-08-06
I have one of these players. It worked for a few months then started crapping out. CyberHome is out of business, having been busted for the FBI in mid-2006 for making DVD players without paying royalties to the patent owners.
It did work and accepted the region-free hack. But it is not a long-term solution for your region-free DVD needs. On: 2007-08-01
This dvd player works quite well as an multi-region player. No problems so far and delivery was prompt. On: 2007-07-27
This product region free zone free all region, but it read a PAL as wrong region. It behaves as a normal region 1 DVD player On: 2007-07-26
I had some doubts about this player based on other reviews, but so far I am pleased with this product. It was easy to set up, the remote is easy to use and the player has played dvds that my other two players refused to play. For the price if this player runs for 6 months Ill be happy. On: 2007-07-20
These have got to be the worst electronics Ive ever purchased. I bought two of these and they both have the same problems - really really flaky menu support. If you hit the menu button, sometimes it goes to the menu, and sometimes it just sits there grinding the disc and stops.
Get into a menu and hit enter to choose an item, sometimes it just comes right back to the same place. Hit again and it may or may not work. Hit a third time and it may finally work if it feels like it.
The menuing support is clearly extremely problematic and flaky. On: 2007-07-18
This dvd player is very user friendly. Its small so it doesnt take up a lot of space plus it works great. I highly recommend this player! On: 2007-07-17
Bought Family Guy seasons from Australia and couldnt find a DVD player that would play them. This one did the trick! Couldnt be happier. Its simple and easy to use. On: 2007-07-16
I bought a lot of dvds in europe to study languages and of course they wouldnt play in the states. This is a very economical solution. The player works fine although when I originally took it out it displayed wrong region when I put in a dvd so I emailed the company and they emailed me right back with instructions on how to reprogram the remote. I must have inadvertently pressed something when I was putting in the batteries. It plays all my european and south american dvds and the remote has all the features you could expect including batteries! The price is right and Im thinking of buying another to take back to europe so I can play regions 1s there...unit works on 110 or 220. On: 2007-07-16
I love how this little thing plays all region dvds its cheap but works fine and i can watch DVD from home over in the states now which is great On: 2007-07-13
I like it. Its small, easy to use, and works well. I bought it to watch my region 2 DVDs from the UK. However, it wasnt able to read them. It displayed, "Wrong Region" on the screen, when I placed them into the player. All in all, Im keeping it to use it as a standard DVD player. On: 2007-06-14
As mentioned by others - works really well and can be set up to play all region disks - but mine stopped working after about a year - disks spin in player, but are not recognized. Only cost me $36 - so no real complaints; you get what you pay for. On: 2007-06-14
Worked fine since the day it was bought. Now after a year the dvd tray wont slide out. It was cheap, so it was bound to happen after a while. On: 2007-06-08
Simply hook up and I am yet to see a DVD or VCD that this player does not play.
Simply the best product for the price.
I have another one upstairs which I bought two years ago and still doing great. On: 2007-05-13
I bought this DVD player so I could play DVDs that we get from family overseas. When we tried to play them, they would not work. I contacted the seller to see what was wrong and they sent an email saying they would help me but they never came through on their promise. I still have not heard back from them. On: 2007-05-13
This is a good product. Can run any DVDs and region free. On: 2007-05-13
The Cyberhome Multi Region code free DVD is an excellent product. We had a lot of region 2 DVDs (BBC serials) which we were addicted to. Thanks to this cheap but excellent region free DVD(the shipping is a bit steep though) we are able to do so. Fast shipping and excellent service. On: 2007-05-11
We got two of these little DVD players for over 3 Yrs now
and they do a pretty fine job. They played approx. 98% of
the DVDs that we tried to play on them, so far no complaint,
works fine for us. We play US and European DVDs on these players. On: 2007-04-23
Please note that it is no longer possible to get ANY customer support, warranty coverage nor even downloadable manuals or upgrades. Purchasing a Cyberhome model of any kind is a poor proposition, owing to their high rate of failure, and, oh, that detail about their being out of business. Try it yourself: [...] On: 2007-04-20
I thought getting this was a good idea--a cheap multi-region dvd player so I could my dvds of The Tribe. Well, it does play them...except the whole screen is pink!!! I think Ill go out to the store now and buy a REAL brand.... On: 2007-04-20
I purchased this player as a gift for my elderly parents because it was small, inexpensive and looked easy to use. Unfortunately, it has never played a DVD all the way to the end without some sort of problem. It either stops tracking about halfway through playback, or it wont get past the main menu. You can hear it spinning and spinning as it tries to track, but ultimately it simply stops and has to be unplugged to get the disc out. Its the same with any type of disc. Ive seen this particular model under different brand names as well, so I believe its some sort of generic item that any company can buy and slap their name on. This little player is one big disappointment. On: 2007-04-11
Works just fine and uses any kinds of DVDs...multi-regions, cant complain ! On: 2007-03-20
CyberHome went out of business and does not provide any warranty/customer service for their products (incl. this DVD player) plagued by a high rate of defects and low reliability. On: 2007-03-19

Ive had this DVD player for over a year and havent had any problems with it. Bought it at Best Buy for 30 bucks and havent had any issues with it. DVDs all look crisp and no bad connections or anything like that. good deal, good dvd player On: 2007-01-20
Sometimes it plays region 2 DVDs, sometimes it doesnt. Its so unreliable, a lot of the times we watch DVDs on it, it locks up or jumps ahead a scene or two. Its terrible. I would have sent it back, but the shipping to ship a small but heavy DVD player would cost as much as the unit itself. Its not actually a proper region free or multi-region DVD player as advertised, it states region 1 clearly on the back of the unit and it just came with typed instructions on how to enter a code to make it play other region players. Even if your looking for a bargain, take time to look around, Circuit City, Walmart, Target and even OSH regularly have DVD players for 20-40 dollars too so just go there, and that way if you have any problems it costs you nothing but your time to return it!! On: 2007-01-19
Works! Very cheap product. Shipping costs would probably have me go to Wal-Mart next time. I actually already owned the same unit, but wasnt sure how to swith it to "Multi-Region" mode. It came with instructions (the most valuable part of the package). It turns out that all I had to do was select the menu button and press "19", then scroll the number from "1" for USA, to "0" for all regions. I recommend contacting the manufacturer of your existing DVD player to see if it can perform a similiar function. On: 2007-01-07
Like most I depend not only on descriptions from the mfg, but also the
customer feedback. I decided the price was right to see for myself. When it arrived I was surprised at the small size of the unit. I read the directions, connected cables, and put in the DVD. My only setback was I didnt know how to change the region settings. Heres my experience with customer servive. This unit comes preset for Region One and has to be changed in the menu to play other DVDs. I had trouble finding the exact place in the manuel and even wondered if I have the right player. I emailed them that night and by morning the answer was in my inbox. I followed the instructions and viola! I was at the menu page for region settings. I selected the region I wanted and my movies played perfectly.
I later went through the manuel and felt like an idiot when I found the page that gave info on how to get to DVD settings. Yet, it was nice to know they gave me great service and quick turn around on my questions. Now back to the operation of the unit. I used the cables that came with the unit to hook it to my television. The remote is very lightweight, slim, and easy to use. I am currently enjoying my UK movies and I believe I made a good economical choice. On: 2006-12-12
I purchased this item it is actually a region 1 DVD playerd as CLEARLY stated on the back of the machine with a crack code to change the region setting. Unfortunately the item also doesnt work that well it locks up and oftens jumps scenes. I just went out and bought an actual multi-region dvd player from OSH for 24.99 that acutally works. Dont buy this item. On: 2006-11-05
My English cousin sent me the dvd set of North and South. Once I learned that dvds had country region setting (Who knew?)I looked for an inexpensive machine that I could use. The Cyberhome Multi Region Code Free has proved to fill the bill. It was inexpensive, small, and easy to use. I look forward to being able to watch other dvds from England on this machine. On: 2006-10-13
After a about a years worth of research on inexpensive, region-free DVD players, I purchased a CH 300 for under $40 at a major retailer, and its still going today (1 1/2 years later). Its played every disc that weve thrown at it (well, inserted into it-they dont work very well if you throw them at the unit), and barring some minor and temporary issues, its worked nearly flawlessly. We loved it so much, in fact, that we purchased a CH 320 for $35 as a backup unit. On: 2006-10-13
Please dont go by the small size of this DVD Player - it does the superb job just like most other big DVD Players!
I own this DVD Player for more than a year now and it has been working perfectly. The main two reasons I bought this DVD Player was -
1) It was dirt cheap ([...])
2) It was region free / zone free with 110/220 V. Meaning it can work in Asia/Europe without any problems and I was planning to take it to Asia.
I never took it outside USA but I am happy with the job. I have A/V receiver where I send DVD Player connection and A/V receiver goes to my 42" plasma and quality is fine. This DVD player has Component, S-video and composite video output. On: 2006-09-27
This DVD player lasted me not even 6 months, I used this maybe 15 times, if that and now it does not play. I purchased mine from Best Buy, and they stopped selling it because of people complaining. On: 2006-07-30
Buyers should note that CyberHomes DVD was raided by the FBI in June of this year where they confiscated over 20,000 units. CyberHomes is not a licensed manufacturer and had used technical patented data of Phillips to produce inexpensive units. They were charged with violating patent laws. Their units have been sold in most electronic stores across the United States. On: 2006-07-07
Unfortunately, the price and lack of brand name should have caused us to steer clear of this little unit, but we were foolish enough to think that since we purchased it a major retailer and this company had an online presence wed be ok. Im sure you can guess by my rating that wasnt the case. Within 4 days of purchase this dvd player started skipping. Emails to customer service bounced(!) and it became apparent that more then half of their website is out-of-date. 10 days after purchase it read nothing that was put into it. To obtain service or a replacement you must ship it back to the company, if you can reach anyone at their service number.
Do yourself a favor, invest another 15-20 dollars on a different, higher quality dvd player. On: 2006-06-17
Like all region free players the CYBER HOME has its "GLITCHES".
It will give you digital scatter and freeze up and the sound will fade in and out, but only every once in awhile. If you turn it off and start over again, usually, the glitches will fix themselves long enough for you to watch a movie all the way through, until it starts glitching again. So, why have I purchased 3? Because at the price, you can AFFORD to throw them away every 6 or seven months when they die completely. Up to this point I havent even spent over 100$ on them, and its been over a year and a half of use. To buy a NICE RELIABLE region free player, it would cost, on avarage, $150. So, I will keep buying them until I reach that price range and then Ill break down and buy a RELIABLE one. But since I have ALREADY bought 3 of these, I cant stop now, till I reach that goal.(I dont know why.) So its up to you. Spend the BIGGER money up from for something reliable, or buy these cyberhomes until youve reached the two year money apex($150, roughly) and 4 sessions of 6 month reliability. Your choice. But when they DO work, they work beautifully. They are portable, and light and space-savers, so that is always nice too. On: 2006-06-01
Anything Cyberhome manufactures is garbage. The products are lucky to last six months. Dont bother emailing Support as they dont respond. On: 2006-05-19
so ive had this dvd player for about 6 months because i had originally planned on using it to play my asian dvds. well, i was only able to get my hands on some nice asian dvds the other day so in the meantime, ive only been playing region 1 and all dvds (which the dvd player plays AMAZINGLY)
so i go and try out my asian dvds and terror of all terrors, it says WRONG REGION. now, before i flip out, i do my research and lo and behold, i found a way to MAKE the dvd player region-free. i repeat, you must MAKE the dvd player region-free; otherwise, itll only play region 1 and all *dont worry, its quite painless*
ok so listen carefully... er look carefully. first, make sure that there is no disc in the tray. and then, press menu then 1 then 9 on the remote that comes with the player (in that precise order!)
a small menu screen should pop out with a big fat 1 in the center. using the numbered buttons on the remote, adjust it to whichever region code you desire. and voila, your cyberhome can now play any region from 1-6.
hope that helped and saved you some pain because this really is a GREAT dvd player for the money! On: 2006-04-11
Is it a piece of cutting edge electronics no, but it does the job. Its like all the chinese goods low rent, but it works. I needed to watch my Mcleods Daughters DVDs from down under and it works like a charm and for the money even with the shipping who can complain. If it bombs out I will just get another one or see whats out at that time. If you need to watch overseas DVDS roll the dice I did and now Im watching my show. On: 2006-04-10
I bought this DVD player as just moved from UK to US, and have lots of region 1 and 2 DVDs. This machine plays them all with no problems, it can also do PAL and NTSC picture formats, and it is multi voltage, i.e will work on UK and US electricity.
It can be used anywhere in the world, and has connections for S-video, component and other connections, so will hook up to any TV, I also connected it to my stereo, so have good sound as well.
Some other low reviews (1 star, piece of junk) seem to have had problems with theirs, but you just need to make sure the settings are right in the menu for the DVD player to connect to your TV properly.
The remote control is small, like the machine itself, but has lots of features, including pause with frame by frame playing, A-B repeat, jump to a certain time in the DVD and lots more.
As a final bonus, the whole thing is only 9" square, so will fit anywhere in your living room, bedroom etc with all your furniture, TV and any other equipment.
In short, if you are looking for a player to watch DVDs from any region in the world, this is the one to get, you wont find a cheaper one! On: 2006-04-02
I bought this DVD in November and used it for about 4 months. In March, it started giving problems. It freezes while trying to play any DVD or VCD while the same DVD/VCD works fine in another player. I plan to throw this player and DONT RECOMMEND this to anyone who wants to buy it. You will only get about 3-4 months to get you out of the warranty period. Warranty is valid for 3 months labor and upto 1 year with a $20 service fee (I bought this for $20)!! On: 2006-03-10
This is the worst equipment I ever had. I was impressed at first with the price
and features but after a couple of months they started to reject disks and
not play at all. Honestly this is a piece of junk. On: 2006-02-15
I am a movie maniac and was looking for real multi-region DVD player. I was hooked on the advertising of this player and bought it for using in my bedroom with old "Sharp" TV. I did see it works with region 1 (USA) and 2 (Europe) and was happy. Then I decided to add the same DVD player to my living room as a sidekick to my "Panasonic" (region 1) DVD player. That was a moment of true. I was experimenting with 2 of "Cyberhome Multi Region Code Free Region Free Zone Free All Region 110/220v Dvd Player w/ Progressive ScanComponent" that I bought on Amazon. Result:
Component Video connected to my TV Sharp "Aquos" appears in Black & White only, S-Video shows the picture, but instead of sound there came out permanent humming static. Finally I found out it works only with Composit Video & Composit Audio. It does not show the subtitles on Region 3 (Asia), so it useless, you cant understand a word. It does not play Region 5 (Russia, China). The massage posted on the TV screen says "Region error". The quallity of picture is average as I compared it with my "Panasonic" (with Component Video connection). The flaw is upsetting me. On: 2006-02-09
Bought this player for USD 29 in a Thanksgiving Sale. Normally I go for well known branded products but after hearing some good reviews from friends, I decided to buy this one. Before this player, I had a Toshiba DVD player which ran ok for about three years. Let me share some good and bad points about this player if it helps you reach any decision better.
Pros
-Cheapest and decent player on the market
-Very forgiving on formats, almost plays anything...
-Very small size, can carry with you anywhere
-Works on 110/220 V, so you can use it anywhere in the world
-Comes with Bookmarking function - very handy
-Has all necessary features that one looks for in todays DVD players
Cons
-Not a known brand yet
The BEST part about buying this player is its price and performance and the fact that it can play a lot of different formats and even DVDs made at home etc. Many well known brand players dont do this job that well and they are also priced high. So it makes sense to buy some player like this. Even if something goes wrong say after year or two you can still buy another such player at that time. Since the technology keeps improving minute by minute and prices keep falling, the odds of your finding a better player for a better price when you need it are going to be higher. Specially makes sense when this product has been working well for last two and a half years and the competitor players on market were priced at double its price.
cheers! On: 2006-02-08

Just tried out this Phillips player with DVDs ordered in France , UK and from Hong-Kong. Works great, good picture and no problems I shant repeat what others have said, but will say this DVD player managed to make it through some of my old, scratched up DVDs without a hitch. DVDs, that is, that no other player Ive encountered has been able to make it through due to heavy scarring.

Great DVD player plays any DVD from any where in the world. Youll be glad you did!
You will love this!! Great Purchase

The player works fine with any DVD. Nevertheless after a while, I mean a month or two you start noticing that while playing DVDs the images get stuck and it doesnt play anymore. The tray doesnt open and you have to unplug it so you can get the disc out, besides the upper part of the player gets hot and you cant play anything and you have to wait a lot if you want to use it again. It is a pain in the neck. Sure you get what you paid for, not exactly a great product. If you are desperate and need a DVD player just for the while buy it NONTHELESS, dont think about it. Its not worth it.
