WARNING when buying Epson products     On: 2008-04-18

PURCHASE YOUR EPSON PRODUCT THROUGH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER OR FROM EPSON DIRECTLY.

This is not a review of this product, but rather a word to the wise... Two and half months after my purchase of an Epson 10000XL scanner through Amazon, it stopped working. Through the followup and tech support process I learned that, because I purchased through Amazon, the manufacturer nor the seller would honor the 1 year warranty. Epsons position is that Amazon is not an authorized seller and that they merely act as broker for what can often be re-furbished or second hand merchandise.

So, should your purchase break or malfunction, as mine did, you are out of luck with regard to warranty.

This lesson cost me $2400.00
Not recommended     On: 2007-12-15

We purchased this projector three years ago for our basement theater room. Was ok as a beginner projector, but not great. We bought an extended warranty plan for three years and about two weeks after the warranty ran out started having problems with it turning on. Had to send it to an approved Epson repair and was told that the power assembly needed to be replaced for a cost of $400. They also said the bulb needed to be replaced, when we only had about 800 hours on it. The tech said that you cant just go by the hours on the lamp because ours had black burn marks on it and the picture quality was being affected. Since a replacement bulb is another two hundred dollars we decided to purchase another projector. This time we went with a sony and cant believe the difference, its far and above better than the Epson. Unless you want to buy a new projector in a few years I would stay away from this one.
Excellent Value Home Theatre Projector     On: 2007-10-21

I purchased my Epson Powerlite Home 10+ about a year ago at Costco, and it came with a free giant sized projection screen. The screen is a must if you want good quality images - projecting the image onto a regular wall just does not do justice to the picture.

Set up was easy. The unit worked out of the box - no fuss. I mounted it upside down on the ceiling in my kids playroom. The keystone correction and projection orientation selections work flawlessly and are easy to use.

The projected image is very good. I have a High Definition PVR (component input) and a DVD Player (composite input) - the unit works very well with both signals. Sporting events in High Definition are really impressive, and the auto select aspect ratio is a nice touch.

My kids playroom can be darkened even at high noon, so we set the display on Theatre Black most of the time to save bulb life. I purchased a replacement bulb, but have not had the need to use it yet.

The remote control is a joke - but needed, so find a way to hold on to it without losing it. This is the only bad thing I have to say about this product.

This is not the best product on the projector market, but it is by far the best value, especially when they throw in a $300 screen. I highly recommend it for first-time projector buyers, or like me, for a second system in the house.

Great Projector, but no HD     On: 2007-09-02

Ive owned and run this for about two years. It works fine in my basement "Home theatre." I project on to a wall that is painted with a custom color - paint recipe from the Internet. I have it showing about a 100" image in 4:3 format. Its been very trouble free. In my setup, I can get the room fairly dark. If you have a lot of ambient light, this isnt going to be the ideal projector.

Id recommend it to anyone, noting that this is NOT going to be your HD system. It is what it is and that resolution isnt there.
Powerlite Home 10+ and excellent starter Projector     On: 2005-02-28

I purchased the Epson Powerlite Home 10+ after much research on projectors. I was on a limited budget and this epson product was an excellent bargain. I have had it for about 3 weeks and find that is excellent. I have used Epson computer products in the past and have had good luck with there products. One of purchase points for me was that you have a 2 year product warranty from Epson. Its only 90 days on the lamp..but that seems to be normal, replacement cost for the lamp however was a little cheaper then others at 199.99 list..and you should be able to find it online for a little less.

My main purpose for the projector is to watch DVD movies and the resolution that it has is ideal for that purpose.

I would highly recomend this projector.
