Fine speakers to augment an existing system. Probably better when used in conjuction with another set of speakers and a sub-woofer. But an incredible value for someone looking for a pair of servicable, affordable, attractive tower speakers. On: 2005-07-14
I just purchased the whole line of champion series from Jensen.
They are all very good sounding speakers. The only complaint on
the line that I have is the C990 towers, they are short and look
like the center speaker (c210) with a side fireing 8in speaker
below. For the price of them theyll do, but I found the C220
bookshelf speakers to have superior sound and bass over the C990.
For the money should have got 2 more of the C220. On: 2005-05-17
a good freind of mine is using these for the front L/R on his HTIB set-up, and thay work well for the 2 ohm diffrence between the HTIBs speakers and these (I think these have a higher sensitveity, and that helps).the sound quality wont knock yer socks off, thay arnt B&W after all, but, thay sound... well, nice. transparent relly, and transparent is good, as far as tiny floorstanding go these are a good deal, I have auditiend a pare of JBL E60 at Best Buy, and I perfer the jensens: there is ,say, "more to" the JBLs sound, but thay were just so boomy... I think I went mad listining to them. well... not relly, but, there is to much boom in the JBLs; to much to make for a good listing experince, the jensens on the other hand, sound pritty clear, if perhaps boring.
anyone can get used to anything, so why not start out right: polk r15, er, sorry: Jensen C990.
also of note: these are ported in the back, so its best to keep them a few inches away from the walls to keep them from beeing to boomy. On: 2005-04-11
Just got them a few days ago (little disappointed, should of checked the measurements of the speakers out first but didnt) anyway, picture on page here makes them look pretty big, but when you get them they are very thin and not too big. They sound pretty good (wish though woofer was in front, instead of on side of speaker). I guess you cant go wrong with the price for two speakers at $50.00 each. Just dont put them next to a big entertainment cabinet or they will get lost.
