This product works as advertised and I have no complaints there. The quality if the cabinet is rather shoddy though. But it works better than the one it replaced!

I got this drive because the "superdrive" that came with my dual processor G4 couldnt handle any of the installation DVDs for the new software I was getting. This worked beautifully immediately. I now use it for anything other than CDs and CD ROMs--the Mac drive just doesnt handle anything on DVDs a tenth as well, if at all.

This product is super, but there is absolutely no external DVD product that will play region one encoded movies on a mac (legally). Windows systems will play commercial movies and read data and burn unencoded blank dvds. Mac systems just burn on blank dvds and read dvds.
I do not know why the problem exists, but mac users who want to WATCH dvd commercially enoded movies instead of just access and burn data need to get a combo or super drive installed.
