A super deal if you can still find them!!!     On: 2008-04-09

I got two of these babies in Cherrywood finish on a closeout special. They are replacing my old Infinity Studio Monitors 150s so I was somewhat worried about loss of bass response. (The 150s have 15" woofers) I neednt have worried as these speakers have a nice tight low range and are very well balanced through the whole spectrum. They are truly a best buy for the price. Pick a pair of these up if you can still find them...you will not be disappointed.
Behold the big black MONOLITHS!     On: 2008-03-30

Ive owned on older pair of Infinity KAPPA 6s for years and was always thrilled with them, but I was just tired of the woodgrain finish (70s look), needed an upgrade and mostly, wanted the option to Bi-AMP and Bi-WIRE...these babies had that! I just purchased a Denon 2308 receiver (1oo watts x 7) and had that extra "Speakers b" output just being wasted in the back. Not anymore!! I used "speakers a" for the bass and "speakers b" for the mids and highs, slipped off the brass terminal thingees on the Beta 50s, and BEHOLD! Im now pushing 200 watts per speaker. Sweet mother Mary, these boys can cook! Very clear, very warm sound. My old KAPPAS only had one woofer each, these have two. Plus, they look GREAT. Im not too thrilled about the metal grills (appreance-wise) but theyre ok...I have them off right now to admire the cones (I know,...get a life!). You really cannot go wrong with these for the price. I was looking into some "ultra high end" speakers like Canton, but come on....cash is an issue these days! These are really a bargin, and, I love Infinity quality (car and home!) I read that these need "warm-in" time? OK....but theyre already great. They are deeper than expected (size wise) and thats fine by me. One thing however: the instruction manual says they come with carpet spikes, mine did NOT. They have rubber feet, but no spikes. I see on the Infinity web site, these speakers are not even listed anymore?? How did they go out of production so quickly? Anyway...Im happy with these. Be sure to Bi-Amp and Bi-Wire if you can and for gods sake, dont use cheesy wire!! It DOES make a difference folks. Enjoy the sounds!!!
Audiable pleasure to the ears     On: 2008-01-26

After looking at top of the line stores I was completely frustrated with their line of speakers. I use a specialty shop in Arizona for all of my other needs. Carver pre amp and amplifier. Carver 2500 watt cube subwoofers. I took a gamble and bought the Infinity center channel speaker and matched this up with my ancient Akai tower speakers. I was blown away by the clarity of the speaker. I invested my money into the Infinity Beta 50 3 way speakers to match my satellite speakers which are infinity speakers. You feel as though you are in a Movie theater with this combination of Infinity products. I highly recommend the entire line of infinity products. With age they will only become better.
A real best buy     On: 2008-01-18

After going to all the high end audio stores and listening to numerous speaker systems connected to the same Amp I have - speakers that ranged from $500.00 to $2000.00 each, found these Beta 50s priced at 500.00 a piece and they blew most all others away. But I was not ready to spend $1000.00 for a set of them then I found a set of Them for 500.00 - I snapped them up and been happy ever since. These sound alot better then most of the more expensive ones and were the best deal I have come across in a long time. I have a set of these for my fronts and a set of Bose 601s on the back and well I am in sound heaven....

One of the best towers available     On: 2008-01-14

These are truly some of the best tower loudspeakers available, I tested a lot of speakers that cost twice as much as these and you will get great quality sound and range from these speakers. They can handle a lot of power and have never broken a sweat so far. They truly can stand toe to toe with some of the best out there.
Big Bang For your Buck     On: 2007-12-27

I have these bi-amped, 2x120 watt channels to each one. The sound is great. The highs are high and the lows...low. These speakers are LOUD. Movies are great but music is better. Get the center channel Beta too. I did. It makes the dialogue in movies much more clear. I agree that you dont need a sub but eventually I am going to get one. The construction is solid and they are heavy. I think that is a good thing. The price is even better. I suggest you keep the metal grills on. You dont want little nasty fingers touching them! My precious!
Great speakers, amazing value     On: 2007-12-03

Ive owned a pair of these for almost a year now and they are fantastic. I spent a lot of time listening to a lot of speakers and the beta 50s were right up there with speakers costing almost twice as much. These are a great value, and I couldnt be happier with my decision.
No sub needed with these puppies     On: 2007-10-20

5 stars all the way. I tested these with a "test CD" and they went lower than 35 Hz (according to the frequency range in the owners manual) They really shine through on movies. With the port in the back, they are surprsingly not at all boomy for ported speakers. With the CMMD drivers, the sound seems to wrap all around you. I enjoy listening to music in stereo mode vs. Logic 7 or surround sound just for that reason. Harman Kardon makes some nice receivers that really make these speakers shine. Cant beat these, especially for the price.
Best for the price     On: 2007-10-10

I had bought this speakers locally, outside de US, about 2 years ago, for my denon amplifier and my pioneer SACD reader. I have to say the sound is outstanding. made about 3 parties for my kids, and the sound rocks.
Infinity Beta 50     On: 2007-09-22

Ive been listening to the Infinity Beta 50s now for 30 days after the purchase and have to say they are outstanding for the price paid (248.88 each with shipping included). That price brought a pair in for less than I could buy one for locally. They arrived new and sealed in original boxes in a very timely manner. They have been solid performers in my Home Entertainment system.
Infinity Beta 50     On: 2007-09-11

Well to start with recently married. Wife wants to remodel and I have a pair of Infinity Reference 5s. They have a 10", 5" and an EMIT-R tweeter. These speakers sound fantastic. So my wife is into matching. The oak ref 5 are out and need to find a black pair. I was looking in the $1000 category for a pair of speakers. I came across these Beta 50s. All I can say is wow! They are a cleaner sound not as bright but with the same bass response. These are great for movies as well as music. I loved the detailed highs of my old ref 5s,however, these offer a better balanced sound. They dont screem at you like my ref 5s and as I get older my appreciation for sound is changing.
Blow U away     On: 2007-07-27

Ive been thinking about replacing the "Digital Research " speakers I bought on E-Bay for awhile now.I have a pair of Infinity Bookshelf speakers in my garage, hooked up to a Onkyo amp. These speakers have been rockin for over 8 years. So I did my homework and decided to buy the Infinity Beta 50s. All I can say is-- WOW-- Theyre also hooked up to a Onkyo (Home Theatre) There heavy but impressive. I love them. There not that big and bulky, they look great. I plugged in some old Deep Purple (Rat Bat Blue) Shook The Windows. Alot of people say that the speakers lack in the Bass department. If you have a decent amp no need to worry. I thought they have good quailty Bass. You cant go wrong with these babies.

Audiophile quality at a WalMart price!     On: 2007-07-26

After a lot of research, I was about to spend $1500 for a pair of audiphile speakers when I ran across a review of the BETA 50s in The Sensible Sound, a periodical which specializes in identifying high quality stereo components that dont cost more than your car.

Intrigued but skeptical, I went to Circuit City (which no longer sells Infinity) and listened. When I found that I could get them for $500/pair, I brought them home and have been happy ever since. The soundstage is wide, occasionally extending beyond the speakers. The sound is very open with highs that are clear but without unnatural brightness. The bass is surprisingly robust. If you have cats or kids, the metal grills are great, rendering the speakers well nigh impregnable. Unlike another reviewer, I prefer the black finish.

There are no serious drawbacks to the speaker. Tall, thin, and heavy, they are a bit tippy if not secured. Detail is fine, but the Betas dont have the crystal clarity of some upscale speakers. However, there is such a thing as too much detail, which can reveal flaws in recordings.

I note that these speakers are now available online for less than $500. I consider that a screaming bargain. If you order a pair, be sure to give them break-in time before judging them. It may take 40 hours or so before they sound their best.
Me Likey!!!     On: 2007-07-19

I bought these speakers about three months ago at this amazing price. I am extremely happy with the sound quality; other reviewers arent exaggerating when they say these speakers perform like thousand dollar speakers.

I love the range, the mids are very punchy and accurate. The highs are also very accurate as well. I am pushing these speakers with a Sony STR-DG1000 Receiver. I like that model because it has two hdmi inputs and an output and I can route all of my hi-def stuff through it for a great price. It sounds remarkable too.

I have these towers accompanied by the Infinity Primus PC350 Center channel, and a Sony SA-WM250 powered sub. I have two Sony cheepo satellite speakers for the rears.

I use the system for about 50% music 50% home theater. PS3 games and Blu-rays sound mindblowing. If I crank the volume past 5 db the walls shake and I feel sorry for the neighbors. This setup looks perfect surrounding my 100" projection screen, but these speakers might look a little too big if your screen is any smaller than the mid 40" range. I have heard many reviewers say that you dont really need a sub to go with these but I disagree. They do sound adequate without one but they do not have enough boom for my taste. (I listen to a lot of hip-hop and R&B and I like to FEEL the explosions in movies).

Bottom line is I have never seen better speakers for anywhere near this price range.

***As a side note....Some reviewers suggested that these speakers sound better with the metal grills off. I followed the suggestion and I must agree, they sound slightly better. However, a WEEK after getting them, my girlfriend had her kid nephews over. Kid+Bubble looking Speaker Cone= AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! Yea, the little b*%stard decided to poke a huge dent in one of the subs on the left speaker and poked the tweeter all the way in destroying it completely. I tried to salvage it with no success. Thinking about teaching his little fingers a lesson. While it still sounded good, the cringe factor on a 1 to 10 scale was A MILLION! Good thing these speakers didnt cost me 600 each! In fact they are cheap enough that I just cried a little and bought a replacement. Anyone in the Orlando area want a slightly damaged one for even cheaper?!

Worth a listen     On: 2007-05-22

I use these speakers in a 5.1 SACD/DVD-A setup combined with the Beta c360 center and the Infinity ES250s for rears.I already had the center but decided to upgrade my Bose 201 rears and my older front AR loudspeakers. I thought Id give up some bass despite my sub since I had 12 inch woofers in my fronts. Not so. These 50s drive. They perhaps dont snap like my older speakers but you do feel the drive and the bass is cleaner. I am still breaking these babies in but already I find myself hearing a quality in these recordings that was not present previously. The sax in Floyds the DSOM SACD has a musky sound never present before. The rears produce instruments and notes not previously heard when listening to 5.1 mixes such as Porcupine Trees Deadwing. It is like I have a brand new collection of DVD Audio and SACDs.The highs and mid range produced all the way around is outstanding and yet these recording sound more real or natural than I could have ever imagined. Simply incredible and for the price range... worth every penny. One other thing of note. I read about the power requirement of these towers but let me say that I am running a Yamaha at 75w per channel in a fairly large half finished basement set up. I have yet to push my ears to a level that takes the volume knob past 11 oclock
Best for the price.     On: 2007-05-18

These are without a doubt the best floorstanding speakers for the price I have heard in a long time. The CMMD technology is the trick. Quick, snappy and accurate. Strong tight bass. Smooth midrange. Transparent highs. A true 3-way. Prior to these I had Polk Monitor 70s. The Betas put them to shame. I highly recommend the Beta 50.
astounding     On: 2006-12-12

i bought a pair of these for $500 and it has to be the best thing ive ever bought. ive had them for a year and a half and they are still sounding phenomenal to me. For the price range these are in, you cant do better! The sound stage i think is fantastic, great mids, and potent bass for mains. I went without having a sub for a year before i got a infinity csw-10 which really sums up the extension these deliver. A very very nice buy.

i got the cherry btw which i think look better
