Professional equipement for Professional People     On: 2008-06-21

This equipement is very professional. If anyone handles it carelessly, it will not work anymore. The speaker cable should never never be short. You will kill any Power Amp by shorting the speaker cable. The Amp is so powerful output. You can picture it if the cable is short !!
No problems and sounds great !     On: 2008-01-20

Wow! sorry to hear about the problems other people have had with this
amp. I have had mine for 3 years I use it bridged as a 500 watt mono block
sub woofer amp. It sounds great and powers my Sub no problem.
Any amp comparable to this would cost at least 3x this.

I do keep it well ventilated (nothing on it or next to it)and power it off
with a power strip when not in use.

DOA     On: 2007-11-07

I was hesitant on purchasing this Amp300 after all the bad reviews but I have an Amp 100 that I have liked for 1yr now with no problems. After opening the Amp300 and hooking it up, no sound - DOA. I tried multiple inputs and phone call with Audio Source. It seems to me that Audio Source does not have any quality control and does not check their items before sending them out. Not good. I am returning this unit for a refund and will not try another Amp300 after this experience and considering all the other bad reviews. Seems there are a lot of bad units. Weird thing is Audio Source told me they fixed the problems with Amp300 before I purchased. I beg to differ.

It died after just 6 months     On: 2007-08-31

This amp is cheap, but you get what you pay for. I was using to drive 4 speakers (8 ohm bridged). After just 6 months of bi-weekly use, it stopped working.
Disappointed     On: 2007-08-31

Sad to say its true. Very disappointed with AudioSource, they normally offer good products for the money. This isnt one.

Ordered and received an AudioSource Amp 300 (new) about three months ago and was using it to drive a pair of JBL 4412 studio monitors. These were the back ground of my seven way system. At first, the amp performed wonderfully, no complaints whatsoever.

Tonight, I played my favorite tunes and I realized something was off. Doing the ear test, I found the right channel of this amp was dead and the left channel was just hissing noise. Needless to say, I turned it off and continued my bliss of music.

I didnt even get a chance to really test this amp, I was still allowing it a 200 hour burn-in period when it failed. Thats why I strongly give a thumbs down (1*) on this product and a letter to AudioSource.
Mine went out too     On: 2007-07-03

After six months of mostly sitting idle in a cool basement with very little playing time, my Amp 300 gave up the ghost too. It just dims the lights as it blows a circuit breaker. After a couple of goes at that, it does nothing at all. I thought about sending it back, but quickly realized that with such poor quality, I dont want even a replacement to be connected to my expensive speakers at all. I dont want them destroyed too the next time it goes out. I am getting a Niles SI-2125.

Audio Source Amp 300     On: 2007-07-02

The review indicating a reviewers "10 year" satisfaction with this product is misleading. The AudioSource Amp 300 replaced the venerable Audio Source Model Four in roughly 2005, so the reviews from those who claim to have had the product for about 18 months to two years are more "on target".

I have owned both the older Model Four and the newer Amp 300. In many ways, the Model Four is a better product. For one thing, it sports two large power-output meters on the front chassis while the Model 300 lacks the meters and sports a more austere design. Both have the same output characteristics and both are "bridgeable".

Where the Model Four also meets expectations is that, for me at least, the one and only unit I have ever owned is still operating perfectly, while my first Model 300 was dead-on-arrival and its replacement has now failed after only about 15 months of light use. This is truly unfortunate in that the other Audio Souce products I own, an older equalizer and pre-amp, have, like the Model Four, performed flawlessly since purchase. One can only speculate that, perhaps, the company has experienced difficulty with the redesign from the Model Four to the Amp 300, and that, also, quality may be an issue since the company was acquired at about the same time as the new models were introduced.

Ive contacted the warranty and sales department at Audio Source, and, hopefully, will have good news to report from that front if I can get satisfaction regarding repair or replacement.
My Experience With This Amp Is Different     On: 2007-04-27

I have owned this amp for about 10 years and have never experienced a problem with it. It is quite powerful and comfortable with driving difficult 4 ohm loads. The sound of this amp is wonderful - solid bass and extended highs with a "liquid" mid-range. You would have to spend over $1,000 to get anything to match it. It is built like a battleship.
Considering its price/value ratio I must give it 5 stars.
Works great while it works.     On: 2007-03-24

No problems with this amplifier while it was working, but it quit working after less than two years. If you are thinking of buying this amplifier, I would suggest you continue to look.
Shame it broke so quickly!     On: 2006-11-01

Ive had one of these units since July 2005. Unfortunately whenever I turn it on now I see a large spark jump out of the casing and of course no sound. I think that for $399 you should expect a device to work longer than 15 months.
