Very Economical and Protective!!     On: 2008-07-08

When I bought my Garmin Map 60 GPS unit, I also purchased this fitted protective case. I am grateful to have it on my Garmin considering it has protected it from briar scratches while bushwacking, and dings while climbing over rocky areas while geocaching! The tight fit enables you to work all the buttons with ease. The only reason why I didnt rate it a "5" is because due its sleek tight fit, it is a pain in the butt for me to slip it off to get to the plug for the USB wire to download GPS geocaching waypoints from the internet. Otherwise this is an outstanding case for the money, and I highly recommend it with the Map unit it fits!
not for wet enviroments     On: 2008-07-03

This is a great product for a walking around dust cover. However, if it becomes wet it will fog up on the inside and render the gps unreadable. other than that it is a great protective case. still glad i bought it. I just do a lot of canoeing and it doesnt suit my purposes. The gps is waterproof, i wish the case was.
Not very well thought out     On: 2008-06-10

I bought this case for my Garmin 60CSx over a year ago. A month ago I lost my 60CSx. I really miss it, but not this case. The plastic cover reduces the sharpness of the display and can create glare. It also made it hard for me to push the buttons on the GPS. Several times, while I was climbing fences or up rocks, it fell off of my belt (thats how I lost it).

I replaced my 60CSx with a Garmin Colorado 400t, which I like much more that its predecessor. I also bought Garmins hard carrying case for it. Now that is one well thought out design! It is made for the bare unit to just set in it, completely enclosed. There is no plastic covering the screen or getting in the way of using its features. It has two methods of mounting and both are more secure than the clip on this case.

I dont think that the 60 series would fit into the Colorado case, but Garmin might want to think about making one like it that would. Its much better than the case they are offering here.

Garmin Hard Carrying Case for Colorado Handheld GPS Units
Does the job     On: 2008-06-05

Well made case. Protects the GPS very well, as with any case makes it somewhat harder to push buttons, and see with shiny clear vinyl window. All in all a good case that fits well.
Works for my purpose     On: 2008-04-09

Bought this to keep the dust off and to provide a slight cushion when I strap it to my kite buggy on the dry lake bed. Put 160 miles on the buggy with the GPS and case; The only dusty part was the exposed parts. Washed the case in cold water, good as new. Wiped off the gps, good as new.

The hard usage of the jogger button is from the friction of the button and the clear plastic. I hope that they will eventually slide more easily. Im considering a little 600 grit sandpaper on that portion of the clear plastic.

Yes, access to all ports on the back is blocked. A case with access to all the ports would be like swiss cheese, full of holes. Not really a big deal.
a piece of plastic over a piece of plastic     On: 2008-02-29

I bought this cover for a reason. It was for my second Garmin 60csx. The first was lost overboard during a brutal night of sailing. I normally helm, but we mixed things up and I was up on foredeck. I should have put my Garmin down below.

The Garmin allows for a lanyard to be attached around a thin piece of plastic. It seems that this flaky attachment point is practically designed to fail. And fail it did.

So to it would also seem that the Garmin Protective Case would be custom built to solve this problem, hence the adverb Protective. Instead you get a piece of plastic to wrap around another piece of plastic. Gift wrapping if you will. Yes, it makes the buttons more difficult to manipulate. No, it doesnt allow access to the USB port. And you are correct for pointing out that the plastic window causes glare from just about any angle.

But no, it really doesnt offer much protection that a piece of some screen protection strip wouldnt. I paid $18 for this? Ok, Im not too smart.
Great!     On: 2008-02-10

Very user friendly!! Have a lot to learn, with so many options! Great price for you are getting. Would use seller again. B
If your going to sink $300, into a GPS get a good case.     On: 2008-02-08

This case is a good way to protect the screen of your 60 CSX from scratches and it is not bulky at all. The only complaint is that there are not enough access holes in the case to get to the unit while it is in the case, so to upload maps, change batteries, etc, you have to take the whole case off - not hard to do, but bothersome.
Cover for Garmin 60CSX     On: 2008-01-28

This thing fits like a glove! Very well constructed.
Cant use if you use the Dash Board mount. You have to take it out of the case.
Pretty Much Unusable     On: 2008-01-23

This unit is apparently not made for a Garmin GPSmap 60Cx. Half of the buttons are covered up when the GPS is put in it, and the GPS antenna is in the way of the flap to close the case. I also assumed that this case could be attached to my belt. I doubt that I will ever use this product without major modifications, and I would advise anyone to not purchase this product.
Excellent protection!     On: 2008-01-07

I recently purchased a Garmin 60CSx and really wanted to keep the whole unit protected. This was a great case which allows you to view and use all the buttons and the screen. Perfect if you like to go geocaching, hiking, etc... and want a little insurance in case the GPS is accidentally dropped.
Lost GPS with this terrible cover     On: 2007-12-29

Clipped the GPS to my webbing using the clip/screw (with loctite), and the screw backed out-- lost GPS. Anything that is not a pouch with permanent straps to put on a belt is going to loose your GPS.

This thing is a terrible piece of engineering, but Garmin probably likes it because they loose and sell more units this way.

Do yourself a favor-- do NOT use this case. You will loose you GPS.
Works great on my 60CSx     On: 2007-12-28

I picked this up to protect my Garmin 60CSx when in a pack or on rough terrain. Works great!
Great Protection!     On: 2007-12-25

This case protects my GPS unit wonderfully. I am pleasaed with the craftmanship and the durablity. I would recommend it to others.
Garmin case review     On: 2007-12-20

Protective case does protect, but does not enable you to have it protected and in your car holder or atv holder at the same time. Also does not provide a hole for plugging in the separate car charger. The cover is durable but when buttons are pushed it tends to be much harder than it should be. If the velcro closure on the bottom is put too tight, then the rocker or enter buttons on the garmin get stuck down.
Good protection - but lacking functionality     On: 2007-11-29

The case fits perfect on my GPS Map 60csx - you can see through the front nicely. However, the plastic is snug against buttons and makes it difficult to push them. Sometimes when you push one - it wont do what you wanted. It is a great case though for storing or carrying. But youll most likely take it out of the case for heavy use or hiking, etc.
Does it's job     On: 2007-11-22

Its a decent case to throw on for a hike or general protection. No problems with pressing buttons. I dont like the fact that if you want to put the unit on any of the mounting brackets I have for the car and bike you have to take the cover off. Which is fine because you cant access any of the power ports anyway.
Does its job     On: 2007-10-28

Its a nice little case, especially for the money. Definitely protects your GPS 60 series. But there has to be something better out there. The screen is a little hard to see in certain light conditions but my biggest gripe would be how hard the buttons and directional pad can be to use. If you can find something better, buy that, but if I had to make the decision all over again Id still buy this to keep my 60csx in beautiful shape.
Peace of mind for the 60CSx     On: 2007-09-23

The case gives me peace of mind about throwing the 60CSx into the pack or leaving it on the floor of the car. As others have noted, yes, the buttons are a little tougher to press with the clear plastic screen, but this doesnt bother me, and Id rather not risk damage to this expensive device should I drop it! I dont believe the plastic will protect the screen if dropped directly onto a rock or something from, say, waist height, but for your everyday scuffs/scratches, its fine.
Neoprene case for Garmin 60CSx     On: 2007-09-19

Not worth buying. The stitching began to come out almost immediately, and after a week it was unraveling in two places. The case makes any non-trivial button use (especially with the rocker) a nuisance.
too expensive     On: 2007-09-15

Its just a fake leather and plastic cover. 20 bucks for this is way too much. And its not really comfortable to press the buttons. Youre better off without it.
My GPSMAP 60CSX     On: 2007-09-07

I recieved my gps as I requested and everything worked fine. I wish the owners manual was a little more than it is but I can get around. It is everything Garmin says it is. Amazon had a very good price. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Garmin 60CSx Case     On: 2007-09-05

Nice case, looks good, but needs a flap in the back so you dont have to take it out for every function, such as change the batteries, hook up to the USB etc. Putting it in and out can be a pain between the wrist strap and the belt hook. Changing batteries in the field would be a pain with this case.
Does its job     On: 2007-07-18

The case fits snug, just like the one I had for my Legend. Working the buttons isnt too hard. The toggle on the 60csx doesnt always go where I want it even if the case is off!

The only drawbacks seem to be that you cant mount the GPS in the car holder with the case on, access your input or power ports and feeding the lanyard through is a pain. If you dont need to replace the batteries frequently or download information into the GPS unit, the case does a great job of protecting it!

I have gotten into the habit of not using the case unless I know I am heading into bushwacking country or will be climbing someplace it is likely to get scraped or dropped.
Good Fit     On: 2007-07-14

I have a GPS 60csx which has developed a few scratches on the screen due to heavy use. I purchased this case to protect device. The case fits very well. Access to all of the control buttons is still pretty good but sometimes I get "double taps" due to the clear front pressing one button when Im trying to push another.
Still, I highly recommend this case. It is an inexpensive way to protect your GPS investment.
Good quality, good protection     On: 2007-07-12

The case is well constructed and fits the GPSMap 60CSx very well. As noted by many other reviewers, the rear of the GPS unit is inaccessible with the case on, and threading the wrist strap through the tiny hole is awkward, but I feel that these are minor inconveniences for the level of protection gained. Oh, and unlike some of the others I can still operate the buttons through the plastic, albeit with less firmness of touch.
Really good idea     On: 2007-07-09

I had a etrex vista before the GPSMAP 60C, I had it on the handle bars of my bicycle and riding about 25mph when suddenly it fell off and swung by the wrist strap right in to the fork and got wedged between the tire and the steel. It made a bunch of grinding noise and stopped me pretty quick. Needless to say the case was completely destroyed, the fabric was torn and the tire melted the plastic in front of the units screen. When I took out the unit there was not even a scratch. This case is little less accessible but in my opinion, completely worth it.

Neat, but not thought-through     On: 2007-05-28

This is Garmins own case for the GPS Map 60 series, and it looks OK and serves to protect the GPS pretty well, but functionally, Garmin has missed the boat, I think.
The case is great if you dont ever take your GPS out, if you dont need to up- or down-load waypoints, maps, etc., if you dont have to change batteries, if you dont use an external power source, and if you dont want to use the keypad. I guess that makes, umm, very little of the time.
I find the clear protective plastic on the front of the case too thick to allow proper use of the keypad. And it has a negative effect on visibility.
The case needs to be removed (which means fiddling it over the peg used for the belt-clip and threading or un-threading the wrist strap) to use an external power source, to up- or down-load data, to connect an external antenna, or to change the batteries. And the little velcro strap at the bottom tends to get caught on something along the way...
The case is well constructed, though, of high-quality materials, and provides very good shock protection (except at the bottom, where the corners of the GPS stick out a bit - and Murphys Law would have it that this is usually where the GPS lands, when it does fall... Too bad, actually, cuz it looks pretty good and fits the device well...
Fits great butt...     On: 2007-04-12

I am very impressed with how well the case fits the GPS however the plastic makes operating the GPS difficult.
Protective case     On: 2007-03-12

Works well, however, you cannot connect to any ports on the back of the unit when it is inside the case, except for the knob for the clip.
Fits like a second skin     On: 2007-02-17

The 60CSx screen scratch very easily. This case gives excellent protection against the elements, or in your backpack. Just keep in mind that USB and 12V adapter ports are not accessible when use this case. Garmin Bracket doesnt work with case neither. It is so close to be the perfect case.

Ill use this case when Im out there against the elements, and use 010-10117-02 carrying case plus a scratch guard film for in car use.

Saved my Unit - More than Once     On: 2007-02-02

Like others, I hate having to remove the case to access the USB Port, but this case has saved my 60Csx from damage twice. Once, I dropped it down a 60 foot cliff and it rolled harmlessly to a stop - no damage. Next, while ascending a steep trail with the GPS in my right hand and safety strap around my wrist, I lost my balance for a split second and grabbed a large sharp boulder for support. This resulted in a deep scratch about 3 inches long right on the face of the unit. I was really upset and thought for sure the glass screen itself must also be scratched. I removed the cover and to my surprise, the face was intact - not a single blemish. Needless to say this little mishap cost me $20 - for a new case. Get It!
It works     On: 2007-01-23

Build quality is ok, similar in appearance and materials to what I have for my etrex legend. The plastic over the buttons is a little annoying, would have rather seen a cut out design around them. Where the etrex case comes with a belt clip built into the case, the 60Cx already comes with one built into the unit (its removeable), so the case just has a cut out to allow it to work. Like other reviewers have said though, if you are already spending this much on the GPS unit, spend the $20 and protect it with the case.

Garmin Protective GPS Case Review     On: 2007-01-13

When you spend $400 on a GPS, you need a field protection case. If you take your GPS out in the woods without a case, you are going to regret it. You are going to drop it. It will get dirty. This case offers scratch and bump protection. It is the cheapest insurance you can get for a GPS. The only disadvantage is that it does not provide access for GPS downloads. So I cut a little hole in the case to solve that problem.
Fits and protects well.     On: 2007-01-10

The cover is a little tough to take off if you transfer it to a handlebar or windshield mount but fits and protects well.
Good Protection     On: 2007-01-09

Nice accessorie for my 60csx....wish it was a little tighter to have better control of buttons. Also, its a drag to take cover off for usb connection.
But its worth protecting this great GPS.
Garmin Protective GPS Case for GPSMap 60C / 60CS     On: 2007-01-09

I bought this case for my Garmin GPSMAP 60 CSX and it fits perfect! Some reviewers indicated a problem with pressing the buttons on the face of the 60 CSX, due to the see-thru cover over the buttons, however, I havent found this to be a problem. The case is black and well made in typical Garmin fashion. It will definitely protect my $400 GPS, from scratches and falls. This is a "must have" for the Garmin 60 CSX.
Great case     On: 2007-01-04

Great case, very protective of unit, a little difficult to remove when screw-in belt clip hanger is on the unit.
You need the protection, but it comes at a cost     On: 2006-11-29

If youre going to be spending the money on an expensive GPS, youd be a fool not to spend the extra few bucks on a protective cover. I cant begin to count the number of times Ive bumped, knocked, and dropped mine.

But it does come at the expense of being able to easily manipulate the rocker and buttons on the front of the unit. Ive learned to be extra "firm" when pushing the buttons and a little more diligent when using the rocker, so it does OK.

Access to the USB and battery compartments isnt too difficult, but does pretty much require removing the case. Thats easy enough, but if I have a lanyard attached to the GPS and fed through the protective case, it tends to get caught.

Some time ago I bought A neoprene Gilsson cover for my old 60CS. It had holes for the buttons and rocker panels, so it was easier to navigate through the menu options; however, it was bulkier and the screen cover seemed harder to read through. My conclusion was that every product of this type is going to have its drawbacks.

Id recommend this product to anyone who buys a 60C/CS model--not so much because its a phenomenal product, but because a few minor inconveniences are sure much easier to deal with than fixing/replacing a broken GPS.

Good but not as expected     On: 2006-11-10

Quality and materials are excellent. It provides good protection to the GPS unit. The problem is when the protective case is holding the unit, it applies a little pressure over the keys, particularly on the "central" key, causing dificulties to use it. I dont know if the the 60C, 60Cx, 60CS and 60CSx have different sizes, but it seems the case doesnt fit perfect to a 60CSx unit. It is not compatible to use with the cigarette light adapter, external antenna nor USB cable. In general terms, good quality and good protection for your GPS unit but Garmin should work on it to correct this problem.
Could be better, but does the job.     On: 2006-10-08

I purchased this cover to protect my 60cs and it does exactly what I had hoped. The cover is elastic on the back and has a rubber-like material on the sides and top which enables you to get a good grip on your GPS. The front of the cover is made of plastic which extends the length of the view screen as well as the buttons.

I do however, have some gripes about the cover. The plastic cover can make entering data with the rocker pad tedious because even though you are pressing the rocker one way, the plastic causes the rocker to respond another way. I would rather have seen a separate cover for the buttons that was a bit more pliable. Also, you have to take off the cover if you want to plug your GPS unit into your computer via the USB cable. An opening in the cover would have made this easier. Lastly, the cover does not work with the handlebar mount for the 60cs. I really wish that it would because it is on the handlebars of my bicycle that I need the most protection. Therefore, I also bought some plastic screen covers to attach to the front face of the GPS to prevent it from getting scratched. However, the plastic screen covers and this cover do not play well and I have found that the cover pulls the plastic screen covers off.

The 60cs is a big investment. Despite the flaws in the cover design, it is definitely worth the extra cost of buying this cover. And pick up some plastic screen covers as well.
Works great, with some minor flaws     On: 2006-05-08

Purchased this to protect my Garmin 60CSx and it works great. A snug fit and it is a nice second skin to an already rugged device.

I do have to make notice to some minor flaws. It is a little difficult to get the cover off for USB and battery access. I have also noticed that the stitching around the lanyard and belt clip knob is beginning to come loose. These are the areas that always get caught up when you have to take off the case to access the USB or battery compartments.

I went the extra step for protection and bought an Invisible Shield for the screen. In order to hook the GPS unit up to my bike I have to remove it from the Garmin case. I was wishing that Garmin would develop a carrier that would hold with the case still on the unit.

For the price you cant beat it. Any stitching problems Ill fix up myself.
Pleasant to the touch - almost!     On: 2006-04-30

Pros:
1.Smooth, thin rubber and spandex-like material with snug fit resulting in high quality feel with almost no added bulk.
2.Ultra clear cover that does not hinder viewing maps.

Cons:
1.Thin material may not be suitable for rough use.
2.Ultra clear cover extends over buttons resulting in vague operation.
3.Case must be removed when attaching to car kit.

I own the 60Csx. The main reason for the 4 star rating is #2 under "cons". This may be more of a concern if using the 60Csx rather than the older 60Cs. Ive read a review elsewhere from someone that tested both units and said that the newer unit was better in almost every way except button feedback. The reviewer felt that the older Cs bested the newer Csx in that regard.

protective case Garmin 60cs     On: 2006-03-12

A snug fitting case that offers protection fron scratches and nicks. You must remove it if you use the bike mount. Would prefer leather and snap instead of velcro closeure. The material is subject to tears , velcro sticks to everything.
Review of GPSMap 60C/60CS Case     On: 2006-02-24

This is a must have to protect such an expensive purchase. It fits well and I still have all the functionality.
Very nice     On: 2005-09-26

Protects the Garmins 60 screen from scratches, but interferes with the button operations a little. Worth the hassle to protect the screen.
Very good, could be better     On: 2005-08-26

Perfectly functional and looks good. It is black. It protects the body and screen while allowing access to all the relevant buttons and ports. It has a good grip, padding could be better, as GPSs are made for outdoors.

The screen tends to collect dust and lint, but it is easy enough to wash off (after removing the 60cs).
