Upbeat Audio T613-BMC Boostaroo 3 Channel Amplifier & Splitter
Design does not allow for any type of mounting. I ride a motorcycle and like most MP3 players, mine can be mounted on the handlebars using a 3rd party mount. If the Boostaroo 3 was designed to at least have an arm strap, it could be mounted.
Also chews up batteries too fast. I dont use is as a splitter, but if the signal is split 3 ways, I would imagine that the batteries would be drained very fast. Should have been designed to use 4 AAs instead of 2.
Otherwise, it is a very good amp and a good way for 2 - 3 people to share a single audio devise. On: 2008-08-02
I have a drawer full of sub one hundred dollar headphones. My newest. Grado SR60s. Pure clean sound for seventy bucks. But could be louder.
I researched headphone amps, I wanted the Grado amp, but I think my wife would kill me.
So after reading the reviews on this Boostaroo. I figured I go to Radio Shack this evening and pick one up.
Ive only tried it with my Grados and a cheap pair of Sennheiser 201s.
It worked as promised. The volume of both set of cans was boosted. The Grados sound good, the sennheisers have some distortion. But what do you expect from Twenty dollar headphones.
Ill try it with my AKGs, upmarket Sennheisers, the Koss and the various other cans in the forty to one hunderd dollars range in my desk drawer, and let you know how they are. On: 2008-07-27
First Impression: Looked cool, seemed simple. Thats about all that was good about it.
Actual Usage: It required batteries! I dont recall that being in the item description, though I may be wrong. After much hassle of trying to get the batteries to FIT in the compartment and closing it, I was eager to try it. Nothing. It didnt even split the sound. So I tried only one output. Finally, I heard something, but it sounded HORRIBLE. It sounded like my music was being replayed in a ghost movie. I dont even want to TALK about the sound BOOSTING properties, because turning that on gave me nightmares. What ticks me off so much is that you cant use it at ALL without the battery, not even just to split sound without amplifying it. For all I cared, I couldnt even use it as a 6 inch audio cable extension! A waste of time.
Overall: I believe it is pretty self explanatory that, at least, from my experience with the product, anyone who is self-respectful should avoid it. It may have worked for some people, but it certainly did not for me. On: 2008-07-14
Boostaroo amplifier and splitter works pretty much as advertised. Amplification is minimal probably about 2 X the volume. Im using with mini speakers not headphones and this may not be the optimal product for this task. On: 2008-06-11
I bought a small DVD player for the car. Unfortunately you could not hear the movie with all the traffic noise. This little attachment works Great !!! Now we have 3 earphone with all the volume we need. Would recommend this item again and again for any audio enhancement. "Boosteroo" its true, great value for a small cost. On: 2008-06-09
My Wife and I used this on a recent trip (flight and air port layover) as a splitter and amp to watch full length movies on our Zune 80 GB to pass the time. It worked great, case, switches, etc are very sturdy and well made. Small enough to pack and travel. Get one if you need to boost the volume or need to share. On: 2008-05-31
I love this thing! It boosts power so I can use the itunes equalizer with much better effect. The volume boost is very noticable. Somebody said that the batteries only last 2 hours, Ive used it 3 hours a night for the past week and still going strong. I can hear the sound spectrum a lot better in my headphones. Highly recommended. On: 2008-04-28
I am hard-of-hearing and the output from my new Vision:M was ok. Id thought Id try this Boostaroo T613 and it does a nice job in the volume dept, but it was a lot larger than I thought it would be. Many years ago I had a similar item, but it was smaller, otherwise its ok for me in a stationary position.

I first heard of the Boostaroo at the Indianapolis Brickyard when I desperately needed more volume from my scanner/headphone setup. But my main use comes when I settle back into a long airplane ride with my Sennheisers strapped over my head, my iPod doing what it does, and the added volume of the Boostaroo turning good music into great.
The volume improvement is substantial but not dramatic. Youll still want a good set of headphones with some decent capacity. But when you add the AA-battery-powered Boostaroo to that, you get some really fine sound.
The splitter option allows a companion to tune into the same music if he or she also had a set of headphones perched or inserted in the appropriate part of the human physiognomy. In fact, you could do a three-fer, but that would categorize as a bit extreme.
For more of a good sound, at the racetrack or while traveling, the Boostaroo is the best available portable and affordable solution. On: 2008-02-27
I cant believe the number of disappointments on my last order and the Boostaroo was certainly one of them. I bought it as it was featured with the helmet speakers I bought and some of the reviewers of that product commented that the speakers were on the quiet side. First of all, its about twice as big as I had expected (about the size of a "Magic Marker", but thicker) and it did little to help the pathetic speakers. Secondly, the cords jut out perpendicular to the unit, which is not the best design. I would like to see a product thats just an amplifier with the output cord on one end and the input on the other (which is where that is with the current design.) Also, who in the heck needs to split an audio device three ways? Not why I bought it, but made me curious. Maybe if it was just an amplifier, it could be smaller. On: 2008-01-14
I have an iPod 5th or 6th gen (I dont remember which), and the "Sennheiser HD-280 Professional Headphones". My problem with these headphones on the iPod was that bass wasnt coming through very strong. Otherwise the sound was good. Bass came through the phones decently with other sources, so I figured that with a the right headphone amp I could get the bass I wanted. As it turned out, the Boostaroo was not that headphone amp. I do intend to keep it around, though, for its ability to split signals, thats pretty neat. On: 2007-09-07
These units were sold by Radio Shack two years ago when I was looking for an inline amp for two vastly different purposes. #1 was to allow the Wife and Son and myself to all enjoy movies on the Laptop enroute to and returning from a Cancun vacation on airlines. It performed flawlessly! #2: As a fluke, I put it inline with a small MP3 player that was powered by one AAA battery and the aux input on our 2006 Honda Goldwing audio system. I wasnt looking for volumn as much as lowering the output on the MP3 player significantly to extend the life of its one small AAA powersource. Now I dont leave home without it! On: 2007-05-14
The amp does what I wanted it to do. It add a little volume. On: 2007-02-12
I am in between on this one. I agree that much of the material is available in the Users Manual. However, the topics are organized differently and presented in a format that is easier to follow. The manual is a users guide describing the many functions of the camera. The book takes this information a step further and explains the purpose of these functions and how to make the most of them. The book does seem to be written by an enthusiast of the camera and may not be totally objective. On: 2006-03-19
Needs more power and volume control for use with a laptop on a plane. On: 2006-03-18
Everything is OK except for one overlooked feature. When you turn it off, it turns off unamplified sound also. A bypass feature would be more convenient. That way if could be left in place when amplification is not needed. On: 2006-03-17
