BOUGHT MINE ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO. NO PROBLEMS SO FAR. I BOUGHT A SAMSUNG BLU RAY SEVERAL DAYS AGO AND WANTED TO HOOK UP TO GET TRUE 1080P. HAD SOME ISSUES WITH SETUP SO I CALLED SAMSUNG. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS MODEL OF 1080P CANNOT ACCEPT TRUE 1080P PICTURE. I HAVE TO WATCH MY BLU RAY ON 1080I SIGNAL. WHY THE HELL WOULD SAMSUNG MARKET A 1080P TV THAT DOES NOT GET TRUE 1080P PICTURES? I WAS TOLD THAT IT UP-CONVERTS PICTURE FROM 1080I MAXIMUM RESOLUTION. I WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS. IF ONLY I HAD KNOWN WHEN I BOUGHT IT. SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR TRUE 1080P, DO NOT BUY THIS TV!!! BUYER BEWARE. On: 2006-09-20

I love this TV but it really sux when something does not work properly, maybe somebody can help, maybe Im doing something wrong ? On: 2006-08-24
I bought this HDTV even though samsung no longer makes it. I love the look even before you turn, it on it screams "i am awesome" then you turn it on and see HD, even more awesome. I have a brother who has 2 plasmas in his house, He came over and saw my 56" and was blown away, he thought it was a plasma! DLPs never look as good in the store as they when they are in a home.
Samsung did an awesome job here, from the first time I turned it on I got perfect color and picture, I did not adjust anything. The HDTV channels are awesome perfect, when it comes to Standard TV channels it does a good job but the blacks and ghost images are more noticable. The sound from it is not bad at all, but I still recomend a quality surround sound to complete the package.
More than enough inputs, for me, all the features you could want, and ready for the future with 1080p.
I love my tv, and recommend it. If you want to make your friends jealous this TV will do it. On: 2006-04-21

Crystal clear HD picture, easy set up, its bigger in your house then it looks in the stores. Its funny that people complain about bad picture quality on non HD channels, but ALL big screen TVs are like this, reguardless of manufacturer. Make sure you have the correct HD set up from your cable or sat. provider..stores dont tell you this and you think all your channles will look as good as the do in the store display. They all take 30 sec. or so to power on. 1080i input with 1080p out put, over the years 1080p should happen, with 3:2 pull down feature (which this set has) its barley a change in the Pic quality. There will always be something better that comes out. There are a few lip sync issues but most occur with optical audio set up. It can be corrected with a Home theater system, it is also a common prob with many HD tvs, it is why Home theater recievers have a delay mode to correct this. Bright beautiful colors, extra fine detail and enough inputs for stuff you done even own, but if you do..this set has it. This Darth Vader looking set is probaly one of the best looking cabinets and you dont have to spend the extra 300 bucks for the stand. Its impressive looking in both style and PQ. Samsungs DLP do show why they are the better manufacturer. They pioneered this and it definatly shows. I had a few questions before I bought it and called cust.svs. they were more then helpful..and they werent even from India. Sometimes its hard to see how good it looks in the store, because they have the reception form a roof top ant. split off to 10 other TVs. It comes down to what your eyes like, what your wallet likes, etc. Whether u like, samsung, toshi, mitsu, fords or chevys. Great set, great style, great buy. On: 2006-03-21
This TV is great! It came as one piece, packaged very well. The picture is crystal clear and was easy to operate. It was hooked up and running in minutes. My HD Tivo looks great and I cant wait for football season to start. On: 2006-03-17
Ive had this screen for three days now, and Im in love. Its beautifuly designed, with a picture that seems perfect. Our local Circuit City sells the smaller 50" lower-res version at the same price. Many places are selling this above $4000, less than 2800 is great. Video games are amazing. The variety of inputs (including pc) gives me so many choices. When I shopped i looked at the clarity of very small type on various models, this has the best clarity Ive seen. Tiger Direct said it would be at my house a week before it did show up, but i was able to call and find out the real status. The box is big, but it unpacks easily, you just scoot it to where you want. I highly recommend the separate component base (TR85) which has nice areas to hide your wires. I came across a website where they were waiting months and months for this machine to come out last summer. Its the first of its kind at the 1080p res...NO NEGATIVES FOR ME, perfect in every way. We got this TV in December and have not been disappointed by anything but the shipping cost. We couldnt find it anywhere local, so it was shipped about 2000 miles. But besides that, we have all good things to say about the TV. Its picture in HD still blows me away. We were excited to watch not only sports in HD on this TV, but Survivor, and now the Olympics as well. What a difference it makes! We love it and were glad we got it. It was a stretch to afford, but we had been watching a 25" TV for about 6 years before. Now with a 56" screen that is sooooo clear, all I can say is wow. On: 2005-12-16
My TV arrived a month ago, and so far, smooth sailing...
I would highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a fantastic picture from a large HDTV...one thing, though: this set is HUGE...make sure that you have a large enough room, so you can sit back and enjoy...
When i first got the set, i was using Comcast Digital Cable, and could not see the HD channels yet...even so, the movies channels were extremely clear and sharp...when my HD box came, i was even more amazed at the sharpness and clarity that the HD channels displayed...
If you are a sports fan, GET THIS TV!!!! On: 2005-10-25
I have been researching HDTVs for two years and finally they have come out with the 1080ps, which are supposed to be the highest level of picture which HDTV will go to. At this time we are still at the 1080i stage, one below the 1080p, but very close. So this TV is ready for the future as well as super excellent for now.
The picture when the TV is receiving a HDTV feed from my Comcast HD box is so unbelieveable, really, I just sat there and stared. It was the first game of the World Series and I have never seen such a perfect picture, both focus and color.
Monday Night Football was equally stunning. And Discovery HD was almost 3D it was so clear. If you have Comcast, and are using Component cables, be sure to set the box for the 1080i feed by turning ON the TV and turning OFF the Cable box and pressing menu on the Comcast remote, and scroll to the Y, Pb, Pr line and hit the right arrow till 1080i appears, then you get the full feed.
Regular channels are somewhat grainy so we still watch analog TV on our regular set and use this for the HDTV channels available.
DVD is excellent but not perfect as there are no HDTV DVD players yet so the TV has to upscale the feed.
Good sound through the TVs speakers.
This is an early review as I have only had this one week. But so far so good.
I bought this through Vanns and got an excellent price and good service and good delivery.
