I was surprised that I had bought a compass/clock/thermometer. I thought I was simply buying a compass, which is what I wanted. When set to compass setting it will default to clock after a minute or so and then I need to reset it to compass again (kind of a nusisance). However out of the car (my car already has a clock) the GREAT compass will be an asset on hikes and letterboxing events that require degrees of direction and will also be helpful if I forget my watch or need to know the temperature. I wish the insturment had a lock at each setting and not a timed default back to clock.
