MP-3 plays MP-3 CD's     On: 2008-05-25

I listen to audiobooks and Coby is the only one (that I know of) that will play MP-3 CDs. The service to receive this was absolutely great!
Very satisfied with this player     On: 2008-04-13

Purchased this for my Mother-in-Law, so she could listen to CD and MP3 (books etc). Its easy for her to operate and has good sound so she can hear it well. Comes with a power cord. Priced right.
You Get What You Pay For     On: 2008-01-06

First off, I bought mine to replace a similarly grey labeled cheapo mp3 boombox. Dont be fooled, unless you plan to spend over $50 on a boombox, you arent going to get an audiophiles dream. Thats what I knew from experience, thats what I expected. I listen to a lot of spoken word material, so Im not exactly looking for Dolby 5.1 quality surround sound for $30.

The player does work well, though Ive found the volume and tuning dials to be in an awkward location, basically behind the unit. Easy to avoid hitting accidentally when operating buttons and switches, but hard to find when blindly looking for them.

One issue I have is how its advertised on the box as having wide range speakers. Nothing could be further from the truth. But then again, thats one of the risks in buying a cheap boombox.

Long story short, if you want something that plays back mp3s which you dont need to wear headphones to hear, this is your cheapest bet. If you want high quality, go with a CD or Flash based mp3 portable with headphones.
works for her     On: 2007-08-02

I gave this player to my daughter. She has had no problems with it and likes the small size
Absolutely positively terrible

I needed a small boombox for occasional use, so I didnt want to pay a lot for one. But man, even if this boombox had been less than five bucks it would still have deserved no more than 1 star. It was absolutely bad in every aspect. Like many others have said the CD player is virtually unusable, and sometimes it wouldnt turn on. I returned it and just ordered a Panasonic boombox.

Stay far away! (it sounds better that way too!)     On: 2007-05-07

Terrible sound. Bought one at Frys. They have a ton they are trying to dump. Just needed something for my sons room. Loud buzzing when the CD is on. I took it back and got another one. I tried listening to it in the store, but there is just too much noise in a Frys to hear anything. Got it home and it was just as bad. Anybody saying these things sound great plays AM radio only and doesnt know how to spell CD.
Not even worth the trouble     On: 2007-04-12

My husband purchased the player for his desk at work, but tried testing it out at home. When the cd was in with the cover closed, it wouldnt spin. He tried every suggestion to make it work in the instructions (why would the instructions include something like that?) but to no avail. DO NOT BUY THIS, IT IS GARBAGE!
Inexpensive unit that would be great if it worked as described     On: 2007-02-17

Unit arrived broken - appeared to be a repackaged return. Something was lose and rattling inside the unit.
To be fair, I never tried the unit as it appeared damaged.
tinny sound     On: 2007-01-09

This is great for kids - 5 or under. The sound is tinny, but does the job.
Dead on Arrrival - would not read any cd     On: 2006-08-07

This player, while it looks like a good deal, may very well be the worst one up there. It arrived dead, and would not read a single cd.
Repack     On: 2006-07-09

This item was a repack that had been returned and never should have been sent. It was NG. Probably intermittent. Item was returned.
You get what you pay for     On: 2006-03-19

I thought buying a cheap mp3 playing cd player would be pretty safe, since I wasnt looking for anything to listen to my high end stuff. Well 25 bucks sounded too good to be true. First thing I noticed was an unGodly hum that has no rhyme or reason. I never heard the name Coby before and hope to never hear its name or its hum again. (you get what you pay for)
Excess noise overpowering     On: 2006-03-19

This CD player made a constant humming noise when plugged in. The noise was loud enough that you could also hear it over the music being played. I would not recommend this product.
Good CD-MP3 Player for the Price Espec. With Amazon's Free Postage     On: 2006-02-28

The negatives are that the sound is not great- sounds like an old fashioned transistor radio. The tiny AM-FM sliderule radio does manage to pull in the stronger stations and also has an FM-Stereo control. The pluses are that unit plays CDs and MP3s (that I copied on to CD-RWs) very well, including MP3s within folders. Ive read complaints about much more expensive units that have trouble playing the MP3s. The radio is very handsome too, nicer than the picture shows. Controls are well placed and the antenna doesnt get in the way of the handle. Very good buy for the money ($26 and free postage at the present (2-06))
Perfect     On: 2006-02-23

This radio is a perfect setup for my desk at the office. And its very nice looking to be left out in front of customers.
Bad sound quality, unstable CD player     On: 2005-12-31

The sound quality is very crapy. Unclear to hear. No stero effect.
The CD player is very unstable against any movement, because the CD is loosely put inside. Basically its struggeling to plays CDs when you carry it.
