Im very satisfied with this service. Im currently living abroad, but thanks to this service, my family calls me all the time. They call my US phone number and I call them with the iCall North America plan for only $15.99 a month!! There are no limits on how many calls I can receive, and my family and friends dont mind, since they are calling a local US number. The adaptor is very easy to configure (Im not a techi person) and it feels and sounds like a real phone. I highly recommend this company- the quality is good, the rates are great, they shipped the adaptor aboard and their customer care is friendly and helpful. On: 2005-11-07
I am a student from outside the US and I study here. For a long time Ive had to pay a lot of money for my international calls in order to be in contact with my parents. Then they purchased this starter kit and along with it they purchased a US based phone number (with the same area code as where Im staying!). The shipment (international) was for free and so was the first month, so we can try this thing out. its really cool the way it works. I call them from my home phone at the price of a local call, and they pick up the phone at my home country! if they want to call me, they do it for a very low rate (we bought a plan that gives you a phone number and 800 minutes a month to the US for $15 total). to sum it up, im really happy with this service. the quality is good and i can talk to my parents whenever i want to, without thinking of the price! I am a student trying to keep costs as low as possible. With the iConnectHere phone service I am able to do this. At home I have the service set up instead of the regular landline, which , here in Israel is extremely expensive. At my lab, if I need to make an overseas call, I use the PCPhone software which is user-friendly and also cuts costs.
When setting up the Linksys I needed assistance from the Customer Care who were friendly and efficient, their chat service is very helpful and they waited on-line until my network was fully configured and I could use the service. Other than this configuration, it has been easy to use and any information I need is on their Member Center.
I recommend using this service. On: 2005-10-27
iconnecthere was never able to get my service up and running, even after I spent close to 6 hours of my time and over two days troubleshooting with their "technical support." Although I had already paid my activation fee, and despite the fact that my new broadband system was not working and had not ever worked since it had arrived, when I contacted customer support, I was told that it would take three days for someone to assist me. When someone did get in touch with me, I spent hours doing everything they instructed me to do, only to hit a wall and then be told that I was not actually dealing with a technician and would need to be passed to one, which would take...three days. In the end, my service never worked, and even though they acknowledged that it was not due to errors in configuration, etc. on my end, they could not provide an answer for their internal problem.
To add salt to the wound, they made me pay to ship back their adapter and refused to compensate me for this, even though I never experienced a working product. I was told that from their perspective, it was not smart business practice for them to pay for return shipping for people who did not want to use their services. Although I insisted that there is a marked difference between someone who chooses not to use their services and someone who would like to, but is prohibited due to unresolved technical issues on their side, they insisted that I pay for shipping to return the adapter, if I wanted my activation fee back and wanted to avoid further monthly charges.
With so many other providers out there, please consider choosing a provider that offers true technical support. Although they provide limited hours for customer support, do not confuse this with technical support. They do not provide adequate technical support during their posted available support times. I was told that much of their support lies overseas, not in North America, where I was sold service, which due to the time differences was why, they explained, I was consistently being asked to wait days for needed technical support. Although I had yet to experience the service I had already paid for, I was being asked to wait again and again for the support I needed to even get up and running. I was also never allowed to actually speak to a human being...the best they offer is limited online chat, which they also disconnect at their discretion.
With so many other voip providers out there consider a company that offers a true money-back guarantee for the trial period. iconnecthere will only refund your activation fee if you pay to return their device, regardless of fault on their part. Furthermore, you can only get your money back if you do not use more than 50 minutes in 2 to 3 minute increments during the 30 day trial period. You must read the small print in their terms. Finally, with so many other voip providers out there, consider a company that is willing to acknowledge error on their part, is able to demonstrate consideration for patient and respectful consumers (I was treated even worse when I expressed displeasure at the way I was being treated and the way my situation was being handled), and chooses to engage in ethical business practices..
While I never did have the chance to experience their broadband phone service, I did try their pc-phone feature (included in the broadband phone plan), which did not consistently connect and when connected, provided very poor voice quality. I imagine that this may have been what I would have experineced if the broadband phone would have ever worked.
In the end, I guess you get what you pay for. In this case, it would have been better if I had spent a little more to go with a better voip provider. Save your money and your time and insist on obtaining service from a company that is able to meet some basic requirements and is more deserving of your business. Although I am unable to force a company to treat me fairly or to treat me with dignity and respect, I am able to use my voice as a consumer and let others know what type of experience they may encounter when engaging certain services.

Forget Vonage. Forget AT&T. Forget Earthlink. iconnecthere rocks.
Why? Simply put, their overall package is best for a guy like me who travels internationally. All other services focus on the US, and frankly I have a cell phone for that. But iconnecthere has the best rates for international location and a plan I love called ICall World.
And when it comes to price, come on. Everyone is with 5 bucks of each other. Big deal. But a mid-sized coompany like iconnecthere has the ability to treat you like a friend over the phone with their customer service. Just read online and youll see hundreds of angry Vonage customers who got lost in the phone vacuum.
Stop looking for the biggest and go for the best. On: 2005-09-01
Why pay over $40 bucks to your local phone company then another $10 bucks for long distance, when you can pay less than $20 a month for both from a voice over ip company? You really shouldnt, which is why Im using voice over ip as my home phone today. I checked out vonage, packet8, and a bunch of other places, and for me iconnect offered exactly what I needed, so I went for them. Plus theyre selling it really cheap on Amazon- mise get money back, am I right? On: 2005-08-17
Finally those of us truly connected can be rid of archaic Ma Ball phone companies by moving all of our calls online. Iconnecthere provide this by sending you a free adapter that you hook up to your router. Use your regular phone and make regular calls - except they are over the internet.
There are a lot of competitors with big advertising budgets, but iconnecthere provides the same if not better service and quality. On: 2005-08-16
Compared to Vonage and Lingo, the adapter is the same and the price plans are nearly the same. Im in the uS, but the service has had no problems so far and makes me realize this broadband phone stuff is the same as any other phone. Except as they say, cheaper.
