I ordered my tv desk top stand in Amazon and came in in 3 days. The package was heavier that I was expecting. After reading the instructions, I set it up in 5 minutes and was ready to go! It looks nice and did the job. On: 2008-01-18
I purchased this stand for a 42" Panasonic plasma monitor(TH-42PH10UKA). The stand and monitor had to fit into my wifes beloved Ethan Allen "country crossing" entertainment center. I had to remove the sliding doors from the entertainment center to fit the monitor. The problem we encountered with the stand is that the base of the stand stuck out about 8 or 10 inches in front of the TV and the shelf in the entertainment center. My wife did not like that and it did look bad. SOLUTION: I took the stand apart, removed the top plate with the vertical prongs, attached it to a piece of plywood with wood screws and then attached the whole thing to the shelf of the ent center using wood screws. It worked out great and the TV is flush with the front edge of the ent center. Happy Wife=Happy Life. By the way, we love the Panasonic monitor... we are totally impressed with the HD picture from DirecTV. 720P is all that you need in this screen size. We sit 9 feet away from the TV. On: 2007-11-13
This is the recommended stand for the Panasonic Professional-Level Plasma HDTV I had purchased. It comes from the manufacturer, fits exactly, and has clear directions, easy-to-follow with a little careful reading and thought. Amazon had best price and availability among trusted sites. I received the ordered item within the time indicated. Item price is cheaper than in other websites. I am very happy with my purchase from Amazon.com On: 2007-05-16
This is a great stand. It is super heavy duty, made out of solid steel. It is super sturdy and will hold your plasma with no problem. The finish makes it look nice as well. The only problem is the price. For $150, you could get three wall mounts. But if you want a stand, this is pretty much the only option. On: 2007-05-07
Easy, 5 minute install. Some people complained about weight but isnt that the idea? Hard to tip over. On: 2007-03-15
i got it as expected, very sturdy, can hold up the 42 inch perfectly, also holds up the 50 inch (i upgraded) still sturdy but shakes a little when pushed..shouldnt be a problem On: 2007-02-24
Its hard to write a glowing review about a TVs stand, I mean, its a stand. It sits there and makes sure the screen doesnt fall over. So to that end, I wont bore you with such a review, Ill just say that it does the job exceedingly well, and you wont go wrong using this one. Its also very easy to attach to the screen itself, which was a bonus. On: 2007-02-21
This stand was exactly as it was described and works well at what it should. I would have preferred not to have a curved base, but options were limited to only this one. That said the shoe is nicely designed for its style. Also, very solid construction and no compromises on the materials, and that alone makes this a great product.
Another minor criticism is that it would have been nice for the stand to allow enough space to insert and remove the optional expansion modules on the back of the unit. You need to remove the stand to really make do that kind of work. But its workable...the stand is really easy to install/remove. by: drake-of-the-silver-lake On: 2006-01-18
Took me about 5 minutes to install the TY-ST08K, and then I forgot all about it. Works like a charm. Obviously I did not get a defective unit as J. Leo, below. One key is to buy from a reputable dealer. On Amazon or Ebay there is the possibility of leaving feedback for the seller, which gives some security towards getting a good unit.
The only negatives are that the stand is not adjustable and basically is just a firm solid support; also, the cables have a tight clearance and you may find it challenging to connect/disconnect them. I have not found this to be a significant issue for me, but it is worth mentioning.
The TY-ST08K may seem overpriced and probably is, but is manufactured just for your Panasonic plasma and is sturdy, heavy metal. If you intend to mount your Panasonic th-42pwd8uk on a table, then you need it. See my review on the th-42pwd8uk. I give this model four stars due to what I feel is a high price for a mass of metal.
I comparison-shopped extensively searching for alternative solutions. Look and you will find that other stands/pedestals run many hundreds of dollars. One would almost think the manufacturers had colluded to maintain an artificially high price for what is a very simple and inexpensive apparatus. An artisan with moderate skill in crafts would do well to build his own--and sell it here or on Ebay. That is a potential path to sweet profits in todays marketplace. On: 2005-09-23
I dont know if it was my specific unit, but the left post (when you look at it from the front) has a screwhole that was not indented. The right post works fine with the 2 screwholes indented. The left post has 1 screwhole indented and another that isnt. Therefore, with the short screws Panasonic provided it cannot reach the crossbar. Im going to try using some other screws and a nut to finish the job, but I expected more from Panasonic, especially if theyre going to charge $160 for a piece of plastic and metal. The item was manufactured in China so what do you expect.
Also tried tracking down the department at Panasonic to send me the part. Good luck. They have 50 million departments. After 20 transfers and 2 hours on the phone, I gave up.
