Good product, but short battery life     On: 2007-01-11

The phone system is a good one, overall. It incorporates seamlessly with the Vonage service, and has some neat features such as being able to set up a background image on the handsets. However, the battery life on the cordless phones is abysmal, and it takes a very long time for them to charge back up on the cradle. We have resorted to leaving the phones on the cradle whenever were not using them. Another issue is the very short range that they have. Our 2.4GHz cordless phones extend much further than these 5.8Ghz phones do.
Excellent Voip Phone     On: 2007-01-10

I tried the Uniden phone based on a friends recommendation. I had a Linksys PAP2 adapter, which was ok but I had many sound quality issues. I tried several phones with PAP2 and same problems emerged. My wife almost made me drop Vonage. Thankfully, the Uniden works great and has many features that most phones dont. Sound quality is great. The only problem is trying to find one. Your best to try and buy from Vonage direct, but youll have to start another line and then switch, unless they changed their stupid policy.

A very good phone     On: 2006-10-03

The fact that this phone handles only one line is somewhat hidden, I will agree. However, with some quick research, you will find that there are few SIP phones that will handle two lines without getting into the Cisco series phones, by which time youre already into the $300-$400 range. And thats still corded! Granted, there are options like the Sipura SIP841 (which I own), which will do 2 lines, and 4 with a license, for only $99 or so. But thats neither here nor there.

The Uniden UIP1869V is a solid phone. Simple to set up. Easy to use. My only real gripe is the inability to sync the addressbook of the cordless handset(s) automagically with the base station. But I can live with it, Ill just make sure I enter new entries on the base station, and push them from there. Otherwise, setup was simple. Enter the MAC address on the Vonage activate page, and youre done. I added QOS rules into my Netscreen to guarantee bandwidth, and I have crystal clear calls.
Not a true 2-line phone     On: 2006-07-08

I just purchased this phone with the intent to set it up with my existing 2 Vonage phone lines. I have one line for personal use, and one line for business. It is important that I be able to access both lines from my phone and cordless handset, which is why I wanted this system. I was extremely dissapointed to discover that the phone cant actually access line 2, you have to plug in a separate phone to a jack in the back of this phone. Thats fine if you want to plug in a fax, but doesnt make any sense if you intend to use this phone as a true 2-line phone. Im returning it first thing tomorrow morning, and will be searching for a new system.
