I received this camera from my Dad for Christmas the year before last...never had a problem with it until January of this year when it decided to not turn on. I thought it was the battery, but it wasnt. I sent it in, it cost $94 to fix it and then less than a month later it broke again..after plenty of screaming they sent me a UPS label to send it in with, and now its going to be at least another 2 weeks before its returned. I hate that it is broken, because i really LOVE this camera..but dealing with Casio is useless. I am trying to avoid buying another casio...although i think they take great pictures.

I bought the camera because the people that I know that have it (assuming the battery works - will explain later) like the camera and you cant beat the price, given its size and quality. However, I would not recommend buying this camera for one primary reason: battery problems. I have 2 family members that both had problems where the battery would not charge (one instance when the camera was new and one when the camera had been used for several months). Despite knowing this, I decided to take the chance and buy the camera because of its positives (size and price). I was excited to use my new camera on a trip, but then was afflicted by battery problems myself - huge upset. I called Casio with product details and they are going to mail me a new battery free of charge, but in the end, it is not worth the headache.

The camera was fine until it dropped two feet. The drop killed it and repairs are two expensive to make them worthwhile.
I wish it was more sturdy. Other digital cameras I own have been more durable.

This camera keeps breaking. It needs major repair every six months. The lens refuses to extend or retract. I had it repaired twice under warranty and now that the warranty is up they want $137.00 to repair it. It only costs about $130.00 to replace. I also bought myself an Z850 before my daughters camera started breaking and that model is no better. It also has the same lens problem which they fixed the first time it happened. This time they say the problem is not coverered under the warranty. I will never buy a casio camera again.

Thsi was an excellent camera. I have upgraded to the newer version the S800, however, I wish they could of kept the newer model just as thin as this one.
NO complaints with the S800, more pixels, easier to use, great video button fucntion. However this camera is great for a spare, or for first-time users that dont want to spend a lot of money.

An excellent camera with lots of features. The menus arent too difficult to use and the instruction manuel is sparse, but the camera works great in any light and has produced some GREAT pictures for me. Two thumbs up.

I purchased this as my "bar" camera to back up my Nikon D80. Love the size and features and price. It take great photos but be very careful!!! My screen cracked after a few weeks and it was never dropped or abused. Casio wants $100 to fix the screen of my 1 month old camera. If you are very gentle with it I am sure it will prove to be a great camera. DONT PUT THIS IN YOUR POCKET!

I LOVE this camera. Unfortunately it was stolen out of my purse last weekend as I walked around Amsterdam. With it were all of my pictures and videos (4 gb worth - about 1000 shots) from my first and only trip to Europe. Needless to say, I am more upset about losing the pictures than anything, but I am also upset about losing this wonderful camera. I had it for about 1 and 1/2 years and I used it all the time. I just replaced it with the 770, which is not even the newest model offered (they have an 880 now), but the Orange color is disappointingly no longer available. I ordered the 770 because it looked like "Blazing Red" might actually be orange, but its not. I also had the issue with this camera freezing a few times when Id been using it a lot and turning it frequently on and off. Popping out and then putting the battery back in fixed the problem every time. I am also having a problem with video-compatibility on my Mac Book (the avi format that Casio used is apparently incompatible with iPhoto and Quicktime, but I am working on a solution). Other than that, I have no complaints. The pictures are crystal-clear and the camera is super easy to use!

I am using this camera and really abusing it, it never made be any problem. The battery charging is economical, hassle free, easy to use cradle. A pity other digital cameras dont learn this idea.

I have purchased this camera at an extremely low price since the shop I bought it from changes its sock too often.
Yet it is a very neat camera, I have had the experience of previous buys and this is very satisfying...
It works perfectly well up to this time. This very slim marvel made by Casio offers a very good guidance in the screen for what ever combination is chosen in aperture and speed before the photo is taken.
These is an asset for those having some experience from the analogue era and have learned to control their picture taking session by changing the aperture and the speed according to the way they want to influence the subject matter..
Because of its size is an asset. Because of its price (especially the one I bought it for), a golden opportunity.
If you find it around at an offer, since there are Exilims around at 12 Mpixels already, get it with confidence.

Beware of Casio warranty coverage. In less than one year three small screws fell out of the base of the camera causing the case to open and allowing dirt and dust into the camera body. The lens jammed. Casio refuses to honor its warrany saying that it is not a manufacturers defect. I caution you before you purchase any casio products. Check out ebay and see how many of these used and defective cameras are up for sale.

This is a wonderful little camera. It takes great pictures even in low light situations, i rarely have to use the flash. I have 2 dogs that are always on the move & with a steady hand the pictures almost never blur. The "best shot is a great feature that really comes in handy!! The best part is this camera is so small fits right in your pocket, a sure way to always get that perfect picture.

I am reluctant to purchase expensive items online because if something is wrong with the product its much harder to get replacements and refunds. I read the review about this issue.
I will say, however, that my own experience with this camera, and a 2 GB memory chip, both purchased online, has been stellar. Ive had my camera for about 18 months. As far as family photos, it has changed my life. I learned to make movies from the video clips, and now Im the official family movie maker. I have never run out of memory with the 2 GB chip. I record all day long and then upload it to my computer and then reformat my camera disk to erase everything and start all over again. I absolutely love this camera. It is tiny, light, convenient etc. I am, however, extremely careful with it. I wont let anyone hold it unless they first put their hand through the wrist strap. I dont want it dropped because I had read a review before I purchased it that it damaged the viewer. However, I admit I did drop it once or twice, even with being so careful. There is no damage and it works beautifully. I have never printed pictures from it, but I have made at least 50 DVDs from the video clips. Its my new hobby -- videotaping the grandkids, and the family members, especially those who live far distances, absolutely love receiving them. The kids, too, love seeing their trips et al on DVDs. So I have only fantastic reviews of this camera. I will be buying my daughter-in-law one for her birthday this year. I noticed that in 18 months the price of the camera has come down from about $400 to $200 and the memory chip from about $100 to $30. What a deal. Im a huge fan of Amazon.com and purchase stuff regularly. Ive never had any problem. I do still think, however, that its riskier buying on line. However, the best prices are online by far.

I received my Casio camera barely three months ago and have used it maybe three times. I took it out this past week to find it had just stopped working. It turns on then immediately shuts itself off, making a sound like a broken ipod even though it has NEVER been dropped and the exterior is in perfect condition. Casio told me to ship it to their headquarters at my expense. After reading the reviews here, Im very worried about whether Casio will honor its warranty, even though this is exactly the sort of situation warranties are made for. Even before it broke, the pictures taken with the Casio were mediocre and it often blurred itself on auto mode. Even if they fix the problem or ship me a new one, I may sell it for a better model. The one positive that does stand out, however, is its "cool" factor; its very small and sleek and stands out from the crowd. With its record of breaking and okay pictures, however, I couldnt recommend this camera.

Auto focus diminished after several months, had to send back to Casio for repair. Menus/Lettering on the shell of the camera began to wear off but Casio wouldnt include this under warranty to replace as they would have to replace the entire shell. Always felt the delay was too long for taking photos. Not really happy with it so I am giving it to a friend. Going back to Canon. Cant beat the size though....unfortunately, that comes with image sacrifice.

i recently purchased this product and it is my third digital camera. This is by far the best one Ive owned. this camera is very thin and sleek. It takes excellent pictures and has very quick response for quick in the moment pictures. I cannot find any serious negativities to this camera. it is also much cheaper than the other cameras of this quality and size especially if you buy it used like i did you could get it for around $100.

I previously owned the Exilim EX-S500 until someone stole it out of my vehicle :( I LOVE this camera (and the S500 as well). It takes super-crisp photos and it is so small and lightweight! Better yet, the battery lasts a VERY LONG time on a single charge so theres plenty of juice. I took the EX-S500 with me to Cancun last year. I purchased a small camera pouch that could be attached to my belt, and I took the camera with me at night when we hit the clubs. It is so lightweight and compact, you wont even know its there! It has a beautiful metal finish and exudes QUALITY. However, being a small camera with such precision components (particularly the lens), you should be careful not to drop it or hit it against anything too hard. I had read previous reviews on the S500 that one or two people had problems with the lens. Ive had no issues and totally recommend this camera to all. I wear it to work every day to take photos of machinery at various customer sites.

when i received the camera it had scratches on the front and i do not remember reading that before i bought it. It took a while but it was worth it since i love the camera. The LCD screen is really big and shows great quality pics. The price was very good.

I have owned several digital cameras. This Casio EXS600 is my eighth, and it is the most useful one so far. It isnt just that the camera is small, so that I can carry it around all the time. Picture quality is excellent, with sharp images and rich but not unrealistic saturation. The video mode is efficient, producing artifact-free (as far as I can see) videos in relatively little card space (my two Canon cameras yield video of equal quality but use four times as much memory space). The anti-shake feature, while it may not be the best technology (they move the CCD instead of variably bending light in the lens), seems to work. Ive gotten hand-held overhead shots in low-light at 1/40 of a second that were quite sharp. There is also an ISO 1600 setting for extreme situations, but results are grainy. Battery life is excellent -- I have taken as many as 150 pictures and several videos in a day and have never seen the indicator fall below 3 bars (out of 3). I like the "past movie" mode, with which you can set it to take videos continuously but keep only the last 8 seconds of activity that occurred before you pressed the button to begin. I know this sounds confusing, but here is an example. I pointed the camara at a rooster and waited for it to crow -- after it did I pressed the movie button to turn the video mode on. When I viewed the video it turned out that I had captured the full crow. This mode is also useful for capturing something that my grandchildren are doing sporadically.
There are a few downsides. The cradle is fine for home use but not for travelling. When travelling I use a card reader to feed photos to my laptop and an aftermarket battery charger to charge the battery (Amazon lists many chargers, some that come with spare batteries, for the NP-20 battery). The camera has an instant-on feature that was annoying -- it would turn on in my pocket when the button was pressed lightly accidentally. But it was a menu-selectable item and I turned it off. The flash takes a few seconds to recharge for the next photo when youve taken a photo that demanded full flash energy (a distant subject), and it wont let you switch to viewing photos while that is going on. But the flash is stronger than the ones on my Canon cameras.
Overall, the negatives are minor. This is a great camera. You might be able to find it at a reduced price -- the Casio web site no longer lists information on it, which suggests they are phasing it out.

We bought our camera in December to capture our sons first Christmas. It was super easy to use right out of the box. We have been very pleased with its performance in both still shot and video/recording mode. The best shot feature is really cool, especially the "high sensitivity setting" which takes very sharp, clear indoor pictures. One of the reviews that I read (prior to purchase) noted that because the camera is so small and user friendly, you tend to carry it more often and take more pictures... I totally agree!! We never leave the house without it. Plus, the camera has great battery life-- I think we charge it maybe once every couple of weeks. The Casio Exilim was one of our smartest purchases. I would totally buy another one.
If I had to choose a con, it would be that the picture gets a little grainy on close ups in the video/recording mode.

I bought this camera about a year ago... and I love it... Despite the fact that its very slim and easy to carry, its also very cool-looking... pic quality is great... Im quite happy... The drawback... the optical zoom is not so great... The zoom pic quality is not so great and night pics dont come out that well...
I still give 4 stars because the camera is superb in daylight and battery life is pretty good...

I will admit, I was new at the whole camera buying experience. Frankly, I hate having to be responsible for keeping track of something so small and expensive when I am out getting wasted, but I am glad I made the purchase. I needed something that would help me remember what happened the night before. It is simple to use, and there isnt one of those confusing wheels on the top with funky symbols. This guy knows what Im talking about.
Since I was dreading having to carry around a camera, size was definitely an issue. When I took the camera out of the box, its size blew my mind. If there is one downfall that Ive noticed, it has to be the camera is almost too small. Make sure you use the wrist strap when using... Especially if you drink as much as I do... WOW! Does anyone have a spare liver I could borrow? Preferably one that is clean and free of cirrhosis.

I have used Casio Databank watches for long time now and I know how good quality they are. So I thought I try Casio camera because they looked slim, small, and good. I was pleasantly surprised. It is of exceptional quality, very easy to learn, slim, small, and very easy to use. I had got it last year but never used it. So last weekend, I pull it from package. It took me less than an hour to read the booklet. I took hundreds of pictures. All of them, using the highest pixel resolution mode. Each picture (.jpg file) turned out to be around 3.5 MB in size which is very good. I used an SD card of 2 GB. This allows you to take over 1000 picture of highest resolution. I have not used the software that comes with it and allows you to download pictures. I simply pulled the SD card from the camera, put the SD card in an adapter and put it in my computers USB port. Then simply cut and pasted the files into my computers hard disk. I could take pictures repeatedly (like every few seconds) and the flash would work every time. A few of pictures turned out to be a little darker than I expected but I think that is because of my lack of experience/knowledge of the camera. I really love this camera and highly recommend it. The price is very cheap for the quality and functionality of this camera. I would buy it again, if need be, in a heartbeat. I highly recommend it.

I really like this camera its so cute, the only thing that is annoying is when I download pictures to my computer, which I do often, the camera has to be on its charger plugged in and then the cameras usb cord has to be plugged in to the computer too of course so I have cord (3) going everywhere. I wish I was able to just sync the camera into the computer by itself alone. But the camera is GREAT a very easy to use. I really enjoy it. I would recommend this camera to you.

This is a very good point and shoot digital camera! I tested cameras from all of the major manufacturers and decided on this one for my wife for one simple reason - the shutter lag time is almost non-existant. Its almost like using a film camera. Picture quality is decent, as is the movie quality.
If you want a fast reacting point and shoot digital camera, this is it.

I bought this camera to replace a Casio Exilim EX-S500 that was sadly stolen from me. Its the same size, which I love, and as convenient, which is awesome. It has a large bright screen to see the pictures you are taking or have taken. Its one of my favorite things ever.

This camera has a very poor lens. At 1x zoom, the barrel/spherical distortion is enormous; try taking a picture of a tiled wall. Image quality is also so-so when a picture is viewed at 100%; scaled down on a computer monitor, the quality is OK. Color fidelity is next to nothing when using flash and auto white balance. [...].

This is a slim little device that takes lovely photos. Despite its small size, the buttons are easy to manage, the viewing screen is roomy, and it links easily to your computer to download. The only caveats, if you buy this camera, are that it does not come with a complete instruction manual or a flash card. Make sure to buy a flash card separately (expensive) or you will only be able to take 2 or 3 photos!

I first saw this camera on display at radio shack and fell in love with it. I loved the color, the size and the display window on the back. But they were out of stock so I searched amazon, and voila, there it was. I ordered it with 2 day shipping so I could get it right away and so far I am satisfied with my purchase. Its pretty and I cant wait to develop some photos. This camera also takes videos as well; A huge plus. I also bought a memory card and I was thinking about getting the case, but I didnt. Now I wish I couldve gotten it because I like to take it places and it often just gets thrown around in my backpack (prone to scratches and whatnot). Anyways I love this camera and I hope it lasts a while because I plan to use it well. Just be carefull, it is easy to drop!

This camera is fast, small, and lightweight. Last year, we purchased the S500, so we knew what we were getting. The camera goes everywhere you go and will fit in any pocket. I think the picture quality is incredible. The camera is simple to operate and downloads the photos quickly using the provided docking station. It isnt the big do-everything high dollar camera, but for the money, it has all the features of the big camera in a small compact case.

The thing looks nice and my wife loves the color of the thing. Its slim and fits in her hand bag easy she loves the cute look. Operation is simple and the "best shot" mode is easy for a real novice. (like my wife)
Picture quality is so so. Scaled down to show on a PC screen they seem to look good but once you focused in to 100% scale you easily notice that they are really pixilated and probably the quailty is about the same or possibly a little worse than my Sony 5.1mp (which broke down right after the warranty ended... Sony cameras break too easy as ive had 2 break in the past 3 years) Also the "best shot" preset mode seems to change the ISO exposure automatically and sometimes you end up with a dark or white-ish picture.
Despite all of that, my wife seems to be very pleased with the purchase, mainly because the preset modes are easy to use and also because it looks cute. Im bummed out by the picture quality, but again, I do work with a Pentax SLR so its probably unreasonable to even compare the two.
Recommended to novice users who have no clue about cameras and an average picture quality + cute look for the price. If you could fork out another $100 you should consider a Canon or an Olympus.

There is no viewfinder. You have to hold your arms out to view the picture in the LCD before you snap it, and I worried about that. However, this has not been a problem due to the anti-shake feature which seems to work very well. When set at the widest angle, the lens needs to be a little wider. I find myself backing up more often than with my previous camera, in order to get everybody in the picture. Not a big deal. The mode (scenery, splashing water, etc) returns to "auto" when turning off the camera. This worried me, until I discovered that all the snaps come out well when I just leave it on auto. I would buy this camera even without the mpeg feature. To me ithe mpeg is a bonus. I recommend 2gb memory for vacations because changing memory chips and making sure they are not lost can be a pain.

I bought this camera for its compact size, Best Mode feature, and image stabilization. It has exceeded my expectations, I love it! It produces wonderful, crisp images and the battery lasts and lasts. I took nearly 200 photos on a four day trip and still had battery power left.
My only regret is that I didnt buy a screen protector for the LCD. I picked up a scratch somewhere along the way.

I bought this as my first digital camera. I thought the size would be a little too small, but after 10 seconds of holding it, it feels fine. Compact enough for your pocket, great for taking pictures on walks or hikes. I also liked the video mode which had clear audio.

I bought this camera for my wifes birthday, and we were impressed by its small size and numerous features, but when we compared its pictures to the pictures taken by a friends Canon Elph, we realized wed sacrificed quality for size. Since the most important thing to us was the quality of the pictures, we returned this camera and bought the larger Elph. I still give this camera four stars because its not a huge difference in picture quality and it is the slimmest camera Ive ever seen.

I love this camera a lot! However, the only thing that I dislike about it is that, it doesnt have an optical view finder. I find it difficult to take shots outdoors when its very bright. I could hardly see what is in the monitor. The glare of the outdoor light reflects on to the screen w/c limits or reduces the clarity of the screen. I had to guess and hope that I capture the image I want to shoot. You can try using your hands to create shade so you can at least have a decent view of the object. But despite of this minor issue, I would still have to say that this is by far the best camera Ive ever had. Excellent!

I bought this to replace my aging Optio S, which was a tough act to follow. That thing was tiny (fits in an Altoids box!) and has decent photo quality.
I wanted something with higher resolution and decent video, but I was not ready to sacrifice in size because I take my camera with me a lot.
This camera is a little taller and wider but quite thinner. Very solid. Its beautiful. Great screen. Fast startup time and interface. Video is VGA, pretty food (similar to DV quality). Battery life is fantastic too. I only wish the photos were better. They are acceptable, barely so in darker places (such as bars).
Because I think Id rather have a camera that takes decent photos everywhere as opposed to a really great camera that takes fantastic photos but I always leave home because its too big, Im very happy with it.

My wife and I both have one of these and really like it. Very compact, good battery life, great picture quality and plenty of setting options. Could use a better flash, but we prefer the smaller size without having to sacrifize size for flash capacity.

This item seems to exceed my expectations.
I am using this for the past 4 months.
This could be easily beat any other camera around the same price (240 USD).
The quality of photos is excellent.
The MPEG4 video capture is good but there is grains in the video taken indoor. Can easily outbeat all the Handycam products (around 300 USD).
Point and shoot video/audio takes than 2 sec.
My suggestion is go for this product and also buy a 2 GB SD card for recording 1 hour videos and buy a Lithium Ion Battery as a standby.
Battery life is also very good and exceeding my expectations.

I carry a point-and-shoot digital camera literally everywhere I go. The camera has to be small, light and easily programmable. The Exilim meets all those requirements and is beautifully designed. The photos are sharp and print out nicely. One thing to watch: this camera cant be dropped. It is not shock-proof like the Olympus P&S models I had previously. If youre rough on your electronics this might not be the model for you. But if you want a small, powerful camera you can carry in your pocket, or the tiniest evening bag, this is it. The video quality is remarkable and you can even zoom in on details. The battery life is excellent and uploading photos is a snap. I highly recommend this camera.

I have had a couple of digital cameras in the past, this one is by far the best! I really love how compact it is. The photos are great, the special photo features are easy to use, and its easy to switch from 3 MP to 6MP. This camera went with me on a canopy tour in the trees of Mexico and held up wonderfully! It fit into my pocket, even with a harness on, and I was able to pull it out quickly, snap a photo, and put it away again without slowing down. I highly recommend this camera and cant figure out why it isnt advertised more!

I like a lot of the bells and whistles of this digital camera and feel that most of them work great!
The only drawback Ive discovered with this camera is that a small amount of the digital pictures taken appear blurry or out of focus, which I find frustrating! My previous digital camera, which I owned for 3-4 years had a few of these types of pictures but far less of them than the Casio Exilim EX-S600. I thought the anti-shake feature on this Casio Exilim EX-S600 would help prevent the blurry pictures from happening at all.

After having been through a number of other digital cameras ( 5mp Kyocera and a 5mp Sony) I can say I am very happy with the pictures of this little Casio. I have had it for about 4 months now and I am not a serious photo enthusiast but for taking everyday family pictures this is a great camera. Pictures come out very good in most lighting conditions, the lcd is very large and bright, battery life is excellent. The on/off button is a little small and sometimes hard to press but thats about the only gripe I have.

not cheap, not expensive. camera itself is user-friendlier than most other cameras i have been used to. everything about the camera is great! best shot feature is so simple yet detailed, battery life is amazing, viewing screen is more than adequate, video capabilities are surprisingly useful. not so impressive in the dark/night situations.(like most cameras in its range) life is definitely good when you carry this cam. very stylish too. my girlfriend loves to bring it out to show it off.

We had a Nikon coolpix for a couple of years and after so many frustrations, we decided it was time to do some research and get a camera that we would actually enjoy using and would actually work.
I questioned all of my co-workers and one of them recommended this to me. He told me that he had recommended it to five other people (another co-worker, his roommate, his sister, his mother, and another friend) who all decided to give it a try and were all thoroughly impressed with it the second they turned it on and started using it.
The decision to buy this camera was a great one. I have used this camera on at least 10 different occasions since the purchase in August and I am thrilled by it. Everyone around always comments on how small and sleek it is to. We went on a two week vacation and took over 400 pictures and we were so happy with how they all came out.

i bought this camera for its size, battery life, and mp4 movie recording. on those fronts, it doesnt disappoint at all. its incredibly pocketable, without totally sacrificing on features. in fact the feature set is pretty amazing. you can read editorial reviews for that... but heres a summary of pros and cons for me:
pros
compactness (extremely pocketable, even in tighter-fitting jeans)
battery life, i didnt really push it to the limits so i dont know what those limits are (i never ran out of battery though)
movie shooting, super easy to use and the anti-shake helps mitigate the small movements your hand makes
cons
low light shooting... low light photo performance is not very good
the wrist strap is too short to wear on my wrist while shooting (im a 6 male), given the position of its attachment to the camera.
macro range is limited to like 6", which isnt so great
a lot of people complain about the image quality (i thought was very good in brightly lit conditions), but if youre a hardcore photographer, i dont think you will be placing high priorities on compactness, since you probably have lots of other photo equipment you carry, so such people probably wont be reading this review anyway.
having said all that, i found a great deal on casios z850 and returned my s600. z850 has better macro and better low light shooting. i miss the s600 quite a bit though, and i find that the thicker z850 is not as great a fit in a jeans pocket. i would have been happy keeping the s600.

Ive had to have 2 repairs for the "lens error". Without improper use, the lens will fail to open and then the camera is useless. I sent it in twice for this problem and they sent me a brand new camera since they lost my original one while fixing it, and low and behold the camera they sent will not work either! AND they sent a silver one, when i owned the orange one. Their customer service isnt exactly on the ball.

First Law of Photography: You cant take a photo if you dont have a camera. I never go anywhere without this shirt pocket marvel, and consequently have captured lots of pictures that otherwise would go unrecorded. This is no mobile phone quality camera - with 6 mp and 3x optical zoom and lots of other features, this thing is a great deal. And.. you can KEEP some family pics or other favorites (OK-GO on Treadmills) to share with others.

Small size is great! Purchased this camera to take pictures for a
freinds wedding. Great pictures.Everyone is amazed by quality of the pictures. Love the choose of picture settings or using the best shot setting. Anti shake feature is great, no blurry pictures like my Kodak camera. Took over 200 pictures on 512 card. Just remember to recharge the battery, like I forgot to do before the reception.
Had to use my old Kodak.
Dont hesitate to by this camera. Highly recommend the EX-S600MP.

Its got a great build. It is solid and feels like like quality. Kinda like the older canon point and shoots that were mostly stainless steel instead of how they are now...sort of plasticy. Ive never owned a Casio until now and apperently they are really trying to improve things for people who are looking for quality in point in shoot. You do have to be careful not to fumble with it and drop it. It feels so durable it might be able to withstand impact. I give it a four because the macro is dissapointing. but to its credit it takes the nicest close ups of people Ive ever taken. So intimate. Maybe because it is really a fast camera.

This camera packs a lot of features for its size. Large viewscreen, 640x480 30fps video recording with audio, 3x optical zoom lense, vibration stabilizer... this camera does it all. Plus it looks great! Except that it doesnt take that great of a picture. I have noticed that many of the pictures I take come out fuzzy or blurry. This was never a problem with my old digital camera. My old camera however was about the size of a brick. This one on the other hand, fits very easily in my pocket and I take it everywhere with me. After changing some settings around I have gotten the camera to take better pictures. If you want a camera with lots of features that is conveinient to carry, this is the camera for you. If you are primarily concerned with the quality of your pictures, you might want to consider a different camera.

The only downside to this camera is that it is not as flexible as I would want it to be manually- I love photography and would like to customize the shutter speed/ISO setting/etc. more. For example, you can only manually drop the ISO to 800 speed- but in the Best Shot Indoor dim light mode the ISO goes past 1000 (I forget exactly what)- why cant I set the camera to that manually??
The Best Shot auto mode also does weird things, which somehow take very good photos-- for example the camera seems to love ISO 100- even indoors and in indirect light...I would think 400 would be a standard setting? Whatever it does w/ the color balance, etc. seems to work though, as the pics still come out nice.
I also dont get why I cant take non-blurry pics w/ faster shutter and film speeds manually even while using the same settings that the Best Shot mode does...unless I set the camera to Best Shot Sports mode, which adjusts everything for you.
One more thing- this camera is hard to keep stable due to its small size..tough taking non-blurry pics in dim light sometimes.

I was looking for an ultra compact camera as an addition to my G2 that I never carry anywhere because its too bulky. I was hesitating between a canon (SD450) and this casio. The SD450 has an optical view finder and is supposed to have better picture quality. The casio is supposed to have a much better battery life, mpeg 4 video and image stabilisation. After playing with them, I found that the optical viewfinder is hard to use on these tiny cameras and that the LCD of the casio ex-s600 is good even in full sun light so the optical viewfinder which I thought would be a deal breaker was now a moot point.
The movies that I shoot with the ex-600 are good quality (but not as good as my mini-DV camcorder which isnt a surprise at all). If I go somewhere and dont want to lug a camcorder, I wont hesitate to use the casio and since its all encoded in mpeg4, I can fit an hour of video per 1GB SD card as opposed to 8 min of video per GB on the other cameras such as the canon SD450. While Id never record as much movie on a single card, what it means is that I can film as uch as I want and still have room for pictures.
Indoor picture quality is not as good as my G2 (as expected) but based on what Ive seen, the Canon SD450 wouldnt have been better. The flash works well, the menus and buttons are intuitive. Im really happy with my choice.

This is the perfect camera to keep with you all the time. You end up getting so many more pictures, just because you always have a camera. Sure you can get better pictures with an SLR, but no one wants to carry one of those every time you leave the house. With the Casio, you can.
The video is 30 frames per second, at 640 x 480 resolution with sound. Thats DVD quality video. You can shoot 40 min on a 1 GB card, without the battery running out.
The only downside is if you use the optical zoom while shooting video, it gets a little blurry.

I bought this camera after a refereal from a friend, and it did just as they said, for a week. Then all of a sudden it didnt want to start and it wouldnt focus properly (everything was blurry). After contacting the company they said that I would have to send the camera in and have it fixed, and I wouldnt get it back for at least 3 weeks!! This isnt what I want when I buy a camera that I wanted to take pictures with now, not in 3 or 4 weeks. Well, I ended up just dong who knows what and it somehow worked and now I have it working fine again, but I am always careful no tto put it in the sun, bang it too hard, or put ANY pressure on the lens.

I am impressed with the picture quality and how fast you can take your pictures. You will need to take some time to play around with the best shot feature to test which of the 30 templates will fit your needs. Settings can be established manually. Battery last enough to take pictures and look them on the LCD screen (bright and clear colors).
The camera is very stylish, thin and small. You need to take care as it is easy to let it fall. Mine is silver and it remains me a very famous MP3 brand. The manual is not a manual. It is an only an introduction. You will need to go to Casios web to have a better understanding of the features.

I was attracted to the video mode on this camera---with a 2GB memory card, you can hold about 2 hours of video on the highest quality setting. The "Best Shot" modes are great too and can also be used while youre shooting video; I use the scenery ones a lot and there is definitely a difference, and the "night portrait" mode is great as well. The only con Ive run into is that changing the settings for things like macro mode, motion, etc., are not intuitive and are hard to find without reading the manual first, as opposed to my older Nikon Coolpix camera, where everything was obvious and simple.

This little tyke has been awesome for me. The size is its killer feature--i take it with me everywhere--but it does really well with shutter lag too. Actually, thats why I bought it. My prior cameras (a cannon and a kodak) would constantly miss the action ( a kids smile, a great play at the plate, etc.) because of shutter lag. I did a ton of research on this (and even had a member of US Congress recommend it to me) and I find it great at capturing the action. The movie feature has been terrific too, great quality for blogs and email.
One downside is the PC software was completely useless for getting the pictures off the camera, but i just take the SD card out and pop it into my computer and it works great.

Pros: It is an ultra compact camera. The BS(bestshot) feature make users easier to set different settings for different environments on the fly. Long battery life and pretty sharp images. Last but not least, it takes full size video (640 x 480). I just took it with my Asia trip. I used it for 3-4 days straight and didnt need to recharge. I was having so much fun shooting both photo and video in the trip with this tiny camera.
Cons: The direct AV cable and standalone battery charger are optional. It works with the 2GB SD card, but Casio never mentioned it. The manual is way too brief.

My first digital camera was a great camera-an Olympus D-500, but it got left out in the rain, and alas, it died, wet and soggy...
This camera is excellent, I have been impressed with its digital zoom, its screen, and its ease of use... Its digital zoom is so good, that, look at the picture I uploaded to the customer images page, I can zoom in on a book with small print from 5 feet away and read the page. THis is good enough that I no longer have to pay for copies at my school. Yes, like the previous reviewer said, the screen does get fuzzy if you zoom in, but, I wonder if he/she actually purchased the camera, when you take that picture, it clears right up, even on the cameras little screen you have a perfectly clear image...and the screen is good enough that I can read that page in the book easily with out straining my eyes.
I especially like that you can half-press the camera button, and a little square on the screen will light red or green, if its green, that picture will be be perfect everytime, with no blurryness at all...Now the camera can be a little picky as to what it thinks is a good or bad picture, but even if the square doesnt turn green, youre still likely to have a good picture, Ive found, but when that square is green, you can jiggle the camera and still take a clear picture. I have noticed that this camera tends towards red-eye, but most small cameras have this problem, it has to do with the small lense, any (most of the time free) photo software can solve this easily, and the camera itself does a pretty good job also...

Well, the stats look great on this camera but the image quality is not very good. Id say inconsistent at best. Sometimes I get fairly good photos that Id rate an 8 out of 10, about half the time though the shots are just [...]. The zoom is useless. It pixelates so badly and blurs to on the slightest zoom. The zoom is truely unuseable. The software to transfer photos from the camera to the computer works well but constantly pops up these annoying error messages that dont seem to relate to any actuall functional errors.
Id say it would be a good deal if it was only [...] not worth it unless you just want something that looks good physically.

Had the camera for about two weeks now. Although it is not a perfect camera, its a good everyday camera.
Pros: Battery Life - Its much longer than expected. Went two weeks without charging once. It appears that Casios claim of 300 shots per charge is accurate.
Picture quality without flash - given the size, indoor pictures without flash comes out pretty good.
Size - no need to say more. Even with a case, the camera can be carried anywhere.
Quick Camera Response - the camera is ready to use as soon as the on button is pushed. Shutter lag time is minimal as well. A great camera to capture at the moment pictures.
Good features - over 20 preset special features including portrait, macro, night shots, etc.
USB Cradle - Very convenient. It charges, downloads and used for viewing pictures. It retails for $50 but it was included.
Looks - Best looking camera on the market. Much better looking than Canon SD550 or Nikon S5.
Cons:
The camera did not respond when on button was pushed for a couple of hours. Thought about returning the unit, but since then it has been fine. Still cannot figure out what the problem was.
No case was included. Had to purchase one for $30 (although Im totally happy with the case).
Macro Picture Quality - picture quality when taken up close is mediocre.
CD Manual - Its inconvenient as I have to pop in the CD. Although a print manual comes with it, it only covers basic on/off operations. All detail features are covered in the CD manual.
Overall, Im happy with my purchase. I mainly use the camera to take my sons pictures and the quick response has been the biggest plus as he moves around constantly. I certainly recommend the camera.

My first digital camera was a Canon S-400(4 megapixels) It worked for two years, and finally died on me couple weeks ago b/c I wasnt being careful with the lens. It also got that memory card error, which was a common problem with the canons so I wanted to try something new. The Casio LCD screen is bigger, but Ive spent a good amount of my day trying to figure out the best settings for my pictures. On the LCD, the pictures are a little grainy, I can see my pores, and my face is orange, I can see every little flaw(only when you zoom in). maybe Ive been wearing the wrong shade foundation, but now I wish I took better care of my Canon. I like to see good pics on the lcd before uploading them to my computer. I played with the software for a bit, I dont like it. UPDATE 4/14: The lcd screen is not that great, but the pictures turn out really good. Also, yesterday i took it to a concert and I got some great footage. The sound is awesome compared to my old canon400 where you can barely here anything except static. 4 STARS!

I owned one of the original Exilim the EX-S2, which I loved for its convenience. This new one is a little bit bigger and the screen sticks out a bit, but the improved image quality at 6 megapixels and inclusion of a 3x zoom more than make up for it. Realizing that there are limitations to the form factor, the picture quality is very good. I also have a larger Nikon SLR, which produces a better picture, but I have found that I would rather take the Exilim with me. I can just stick it in my pocket, instead of having to drag a camera bag with me everywhere I go. I also found that the improved video function to be another bonus, dont need to lug a separate video camera around, and the quality was surprisingly good compared to previous models.
The only negative is that it takes a bit longer to start up, especially when you need the flash. And the delay for the flash meant missing a couple of shots. But then again I would not have been able to even get the SLR out of the bag by the time the Exilim was ready.

Weve had this camera for 6 months. We loved it. Then the ring around the lens popped off after simply turning it on; it could not be reattached. The machinery inside was exposed. Casio took it back since it was under warranty, but, after we sent it to them, we were told that the lens ring was not covered. Even with their warranty in hand that stated everything (excluding the battery and power cord I believe) is covered, Casio insisted we pay nearly $200. In addition, we have been waiting 2 months to get the camera back (we still dont have it). Were so very frustrated. I would pursue them legally if I could justify the expense and effort. We are using the only alternative left to us of warning people about Casios actions.

The Casio Exilim s600 is my first digital camera, and I think its great. Although the LCD screen may only be over 80,000 mpxls, it works for me. The real selling point for me was how compact it is. This camera really can fit into your pocket, although I do have to periodically check on it to make sure I didnt press the on button, which would make the lense protrude.
Pros:
-VERY small-->about half an inch thick.
-nice 2.2 inch LCD screen
-good picture quality, (see cons)
-easy to use buttons conveniently placed
-I didnt have to read the manual to figure out how to work it
-the video feature can carry up to 2 hours of good footage
-the best shot features are nice. (e.g. sports, night scene, flower, text, portrait)
-wont scratch
-takes pictures very quickly
-has a certain wow factor that gets you a lot of attention.
Cons:
-might feel like you are going to drop it
-the lense sticks out (unlike the sony cybershot)
-no viewfinder..but you wouldnt need it anyways.
-you need a 1gb of storage if you want to fit a lot of photos+video
-pictures dont turn out very sharp
-Im personally not too keen on the software they give you [photoloader, photohands]
-pricy for a point and shoot
