Great for the average homeowner     On: 2008-06-21

I would not consider myself to be an audiophile, but I do care about how my music and DVDs sound. I have had these speakers for several years now and I have absolutely no complaints. They sound great today as they did upon installation. They might not satisfy audiophiles (but then nothing does), but I expect that most folks will be highly satisfied.

The in-wall nature of the speakers was just what we were looking for. After having had some big old beasts that sounded great but took up lots of floor space and then taking a look at some smaller speakers that still required us to find space for them, these speakers were just what the doctor ordered. We have not even painted the grills (what if we repaint the room another color?), but we think that the speakers look great as they are. Enjoy.
great mid-level speakers     On: 2008-05-15

These are very good speakers for their price. Sound quality is great for this price range.
A great speaker at this low price     On: 2007-11-10

The one reviewer who rated them one star WITHOUT LISTENING TO THEM should be ignored. I have two pair of theses speakers installed in rear walls and side walls for 7.1 system and they work fine. I had someone over last weekend and I had to point the speakers out for him, he had never noticed them before [he had been in the house 6 to 8 times before]. I turned the speakers off and went to stereo and then he noticed them right away! I am very happy with them and and the "disappear" when the speaker grilles are painted wall color. That was the idea when I got them. A pair of three way, in the wall, eight inch woofer speakers for $80 to $90 is a GREAT deal. I may now put three of them in the front as main and center speakers cause the wife does not like the large speakers I am using there now. I am running these speakers with Audiosources "low boy" subwoofer which is also a fine speaker and works very well.
The listing is slightly misleading...     On: 2007-05-22

There are a lot of conflicting specs for these speakers. That includes within the packaging as it comes from the mfr...

I thought from what I read that I was buying a 3-way speaker with 200w power handling capacity and a frequency respons of 28-20k Hz. It did seem a little too good to be true for the price, but hey - hope springs eternal...

When I got the speakers I was a little saddened to see that the back has them as 2-way. It took me a while to work out they are referring to the bass driver, which has a 2" midrange coaxially mounted.

The specs in the insert sheet that came with the speakers has the speakers running 40-20kHz. Not quite the same, but I guess not awful. I have a big sub, so its not that much of an issue. It would have been nice to have known about it before buying them though.

The thing that saddened me the most was the power handling capacity. I have seen listings that rate them from 100W to 200W. To be fair it is 100W on the Amazon site. What it doesnt say is that that is 100W peak. The sensitivity is decent so hopefully they can generate adequate SPLs.

I must say that I havent listened to them yet and to be fair they are extremely inexpensive for speaker pairs.

They might be the best thing ever, but they arent exactly as advertised thats for sure. When I get them in the walls Ill update this review if Amazon allows it.

AudioSource In-Wall Speakers     On: 2007-01-12

These speakers sound great. Currently, we are just using them for our
stereo but I will connect them to our surround sound for our TV. The
speakers were easy to install and blend in with the wall. The sound is
very good compared to other speakers costing twice as much.
AudioSource AS8S Speaker Review     On: 2007-01-12

Good value for speakers of this quality. Ordred 3 pairs of speakers of which one speaker of one of the pair had distortion. All of the other speakers sound great. Called Audio Source tech support to obtain an in-warranty replacement without any hassles. Did take Audio Source 1 1/2 months to send me a replacement (only after I called and reminded them). Replacement speaker works fine.
