This wasnt a very good product. They werent very loud and i was very disappointed with the item. I bought PLEOMAX speakers instead and am very happy with my purchase. They are a little bigger than what I wanted to carry around, but they are well worth the extra room in the bag, especially during presentations.

Verbatim Portable USB Speakers. Great speakers! Great sound for such a small unit. If purchased you will need a USB extension as the retractable cord is very small. An extension is a must. I was so pleased that I purchased a second for use at work.

I bought this usp speaker so I could hear audio books playing louder and better on my laptop. It was shipped promptly and it works great. It has a volume control and a mute button and it folds up small enough to fit into a pocket. I also really like the way it only uses the retractable usb cord for power, so no external power is needed. Great product!

as i have read the reviews, some folks like it, some folks hate it.
for me... its not bad.
it is a set of very light speaks that fit into the laptop bag.
i do like the fact that the cord goes into the speakers.
i like the sound, its nothing compared to 1000 watt home system.
but i can hear when i need to.
i would say, get this item as a need and not as a want (it may disappoint as a want).
as for pricing... its nice and cheap (in my opinion).
as for weight... its nice and light.
as for sound quality... its reflects in the pricing.
so, for the folks that love it (i believe they have their reasons) and for the folks that hate it (they too have reason).
for me... its not bad. its what i needed for the road.

My laptop soundcard is on the fritz and itd take 3 weeks to ship it off for repair. USB-powered speakers to the rescue.
The sound is good to great. Words are clear and distict; music is, too. For the price they do well. However, these are small speakers and dont have much volume. Figure on a radius of 7-10 feet. You can hear it much farther away; but volume suffers.
I enjoy their portability; they fit right in my laptop case.

Bought this product to hook into my laptop. They work very nicely. Just plug them into the usb connection and let the machine recognize them. They provide a very nice boost in speaker volume. The sound quality IMHO is above average and there is no power cord to mess with. Been using them for a little over a month with no problems. Purchased another set for a good friend of mine and she really likes them too. Very compact design so they fit well in a laptop case pocket. Retractable usb cord is also a nice feature. I do recommend this product.

Surprisingly loud, this is a good purchase. I did not like the skinny cord but in order to be retractable I guess it has to be thin.

My laptop speakers on my Thinkpad were low volume even when put at the highest level. This Verbatim lightweight USB speaker (which actually has two small speakers, although I dont get a stereo effect from them since this item is small and theyre close together), pumps up the volume! Its loud even at a low level. Definitely a good product, and I think youd only get a stereo effect with two separate speakers that are far apart from one another.

I was looking for a compact, USB powered portable speaker system to watch movies and online program streaming on my low volume laptop at a reasonable price. I found it. The sound quality meets my needs and the price is right.

I really like this speaker. It puts out great sound and is very compact. I like the way the usb cord is retractable and how the cover has a slot for for the cable to come out of. The sound is more than acceptable for the price.

Solved the problem of Mac laptop speakers some of us have trouble hearing. Amplification is good. Cool design, compact and great price. One note: You must adjust your Mac for it to work.

Well... youll at least hear your music. Tinny sound, no bass or real dimension in music quality. Easy plug and play... love that. Retractable USB cord... like that. Nice, collapsable cell phone like unit... like that. Do I use it. Nope. Am I sorry I bought it. Yep. Not great quality of sound. How bout pretty poor sound quality. As I said... Audiofiles stay away.

Sometimes it is nice to get the sound off of the "body" of the laptop to be able to position it where you want. These are not very loud, but are portable and USB powered!

These are very handy -- small and easy to store. I bought them to use with my laptop because my laptop speakers are poor quality and very low volume. Well, these can play quite loudly, but the quality is no better than my laptops -- maybe not even as good. They are fine for what they are but dont except good quality sound. This may just be as good as speakers this size can sound.

My PC is in a very limited space, PC is in cabinet and it is impossible to get to the back to the speaker plug in, no sound from the monitor. I have a USB extension (hub) so I was able to plug this speaker into the hub right behind my monitor and I HAVE SOUND! WOW! The sound is clear and clean and this item sits on the monitor stand/base. THIS IS WONDERFUL!!! Problem solved!

These speakers give excellent value for money. They are vastly superior to the built-in speakers on my MacBook and definitely worth the c. $20. The volume and base are both quite good. Of course, they are not as good as my more expensive and bulkier Bose speakers. The base is not as deep, there is some distortion if you turn them up *really* loud -- but you *can* turn them up really loud if you want to. These speakers are better than any similarly priced and even some more expensive speakers I have purchased. Well designed, compact, light weight, and the retractable cord is an excellent feature and works. I dont normally take the time to write reviews, but this item is worth my recommending to people who, like me, are looking for something inexpensive, serviceable, and portable.

We use a laptop to play DVDs during long trips. Sometimes the road noise is louder than the movie, but now with these speakers we can hear again.
These speakers are a great compliment to laptop speakers.

When I first opened the box, dug through the packing paper and finally spied this little package sitting at the bottom, I thought at first that someone had screwed up and sent me a cell phone. But no, these were the speakers. Still, they work great! I guess Ive forgotten how much smaller electronics have gotten these days. Now I can listen to my favorite broadcast stream while Im out in the kitchen (the local affiliate went belly-up, which renders the radio useless in that respect), just by using an extension USB cord.
Lightweight, decent sound, and has a little spring-loaded cable that conveniently disappears into a tiny compartment, these speakers fold up into a small, easily-packed unit (see above), and should be a great adjunct to tiny, tinny laptop speakers.

I bought this speaker to boost the sound output of my Lenovo Y410 laptop. It did its job perfectly. So easy to handle and carry. Dont expect a superior quality output but if you are looking for a easy to handle and battery free speakers then this is good one.

These speakers solved an audio malfunction with my laptop. They are convient and put out much better sound quality than the original laptop speakers.

I bought these speakers for my MacBook.
1) The design is great, with the retractable USB cord that can be hidden totally inside. Theyre very light & seem sturdy.
2) The volume is very good. The internal speakers at full volume are the same as these at 1/4 volume.
3) Sound quality is ok. The internal speakers sound slightly better at the same volume. These are fine for casual listening but they sound a little more tinny than the internals. That said, the extra volume more than makes up for this. With these speakers one can hear music right across the house.
4) Mute key & volume controls on the speaker are good. Curiously, on the MacBook they work even when the built-in speakers are selected.
Also, after selecting these speakers, unplugging them reverts to the internal speakers, then reconnect the USB and theyre again automatically selected which is nice - rather than having to go to System Preferences every time. Also very nice, the Mac remembers volume and mute separately for the internal & USB speakers, so re-connect them and the volume is where you left it for these speakers, not where you had the internal speakers set.
Bottom line: not for audiophiles, but for casual music, Skype/iChat, etc. these things are great and provide all the volume, portability and convenience one could want.

Great little speakers! They put out quite a punch for their size and I really like the fold up size of 4.25 x 1.75 x 1.25! The usb cord reels into the speakers with the touch of a botton and you close the lid to completely hide the cord away for storage. Fits great in a note book carry case side pocket.

The audio went out on my sons laptop (Dell Inspiron 5100) and since audio circuit is integrated with the motherboard, the only solution at first seemed a complete motherboard replacement. Fortunately, I found these USB speakers that provide a workable solution. Beware - many *other* "USB" speakers are only USB-powered and you still have to plug an audio cable into the analog audio output jack of your computer. That was not a solution in our case because the audio output was fried. However, *these* speakers are purely USB connected, incorporating a USB-interfaced digital to analog audio circuit right in the speaker housing. The speakers were automatically recognized as an external USB audio device by Windows XP as soon as we plugged them in, and he once again has sound output from his laptop!

I like these speakers, technically they are good - loud and nice. Especially, like me if you busted your inner sound card by pouring hot coffee on your laptop :) It saved me a ton of money by not having to buy a new mother-board or a new laptop!

I bought these speakers for my boyfriend for his laptop and they are awesome! Before, we could barely hear the sound on the laptop with the speakers and I had to plug in these huge clunky speakers that had to be plugged into the wall. These speakers, on the other hand, are lightweight, compact, very portable (the cord zips right back into the speaker like one of those string pull toys), AMAZING sound quality and best of all, are powered by the USB cord that plugs into the computer. A+++!

I like these speakers. Theyre extremely lightweight and compact. Some have said they look like cell phones. Another cool feature is the retractable USB cable, similar to a measuring tape. I would have given them a 5, but I thought the sound could have had just a little louder capacity and then they would have been perfect.

I bought this speaker for my laptop. When watching DVDs, the volume has never been sufficient. The speaker is great and really enhaces the sound. You can also control the volume right from the speaker itself.
I would recommend this to anyone.
