Not for the office place     On: 2007-05-16

I purchased this unit and immediately returned it in exchange for the IN26+ for two reasons. The resolution is so low that you can see the screen door effect in the image and the color saturation in a semi darkened room was completely washed out even after spending a couple hours trying to adjust it. It is probably fine for general use in a fully darkened room but as a business projector where ambient light conditions are a constant issue I would steer clear.
Good projector if standard 1024 x 768 resolution is used.     On: 2007-05-16

It works immediately with my Thinkpad laptop. However, my wife doesnt like it as she use a different display setting on her Dell laptop. I needed to change the resolution at her Dell laptop, then disble the graphic accelerator in the Display setting. My wife still complains that it is not working well with her laptop.
So I disable the auto search on the source and fix it to Computer input. One less item guessing. It works well with my presence but my wife still has problem when she wants to use it for her presentaion

To me, it is good for the money as Infocus offers $[...] rebate (though I have not received that yet).

The color and resolution is good for presentation. If you have a 1024 x 768 resolution with no graphic accelerator, it should be a easy connection. If you use 16 x 9 HD resolution, you will have to go through some trouble.

Not bad for the price     On: 2007-05-07

This isnt bad as a video projector for the price, its nice and bright. The only downside is it rainbows like crazy. You have to kind of train your eyes to not move while youre watching. If I was doing it again Id probably go with LCD, but Im not unhappy with it.

This is a great projector for those looking for a more affordable solution.I had no problems setting up or using it. It has a good picture and brightness when hooked to a DVD player. I have not tried it with a Laptop yet.
Excellent Product-Infocus 24 Projector     On: 2007-03-26

We are completely satisfied with the Infocus 24 Projector. We purchased it for to be used for our home theatre and to be honest we are amazed at the picture quality and clarity of this projector at such a low price. Colors are true and sharp even on low output settings, and the picture is completely detailed even in low light rooms. The projector is very easy to set up and use and wireless remote works great. The price is exceptionally low for the quality of this product. I would recommend this projector to anyone wanting to use it for work or home. I cant say enough about it.
Cheaper than some projector lamps!     On: 2007-03-18

This projector is a beginning setup for my church. It works perfectly with my laptop. Automatically recognizes the source. For under $[...] after rebate, this projector is cheaper than some projector lamps I have ordered for a Proxima(InFocus) at work! Even with 800x600 resolution, it is fine for small to medium rooms. And quiet too!
Not a Home Theater projector, but can be used as such.     On: 2007-03-13

First, for home theater use, I would give this projector 4 stars. I gave it 5 as this is a business projector, and should not be penalized for not having home theater features.

I am very happy with this item. Out of the box, the colors were a mess. This, again, may be because it is not calibrated as a home theater projector. I highly suggest using the Avia video calibration DVD (with color filters to look through). It took me 5 minutes, and the colors are more natural than any of my CRT tvs!

In high power mode, I can watch TV shows during the day with my blinds closed. Movies are a bit hard to watch. Once the sun is no longer on that size of my house, it works great. At night, I can watch a movie in low power mode (and the fan is very quiet), but I prefer the regular mode as colors look more vibrant with that extra boost. I sit with my head about 6 inches from the projector, so I can hear the fan, but it isnt noticable with sound system speakers at a decent volume.

As stated in a prior review, the image is 4:3. If you dont have a 4:3 screen, 4:3 images wont fit. Not the projectors fault.

My biggest concern is the connections, which again is due to this not actually being a home theater projector. For the best image, you need to use a component connection. As stated in a prior review, an adapter must be purchases seperatly to connect component through the VGA port. This was not specified on the spec sheet where I bought this item, and the box itself has NO info about the specs.

One other thing to note...I have read that the color wheels on business projectors are different than on home theater projectors. I am not familiar enough with this to comment, but this is something prospective buyers may want to look into.

Overall, I am very happy with this item. 5/5 as an overall product, 4/5 as a home theater projector.
Works well in the classroom.     On: 2007-01-11

If you are a teacher and need to project the material you are teaching up on a screen, the InFocus IN24 DLP Projector is a cost effective way of doing it. The controlls are easy, the picture is good, the machine is quiet, and it is reasonably compact. One thing that I wish it came with was a carrying case. If you want one it will cost you extra.

Great price....Great unit........     On: 2006-10-13

Ive owned an Infocus X1 for 3 or 4 years now. Besides the color wheel noise that happened last year, it was always a great projector. Infocus repaired the unit under warranty and even upgraded my firmware so I had more features. Recently I decided that Id like to buy something new since the extended warranty period was up on the X1.

Let me tell you, this IN24 is mind numbingly better than the X1 and the price is outrageously low for such a unit. The fan is a lot quieter in comparison and the images are a bit brighter. Overall, Im happy with this unit. I really like the housing on this projector. Although its still plastic, it seems a lot more sturdy.

I just wish they would add horizontal and vertical image editing for the video 1 input.

Good for business, bad for home     On: 2006-10-08

I purchased this projector to watch movies at home and have not been pleased with its performance. Our DVD inventory includes both 4x3 and 16x9 formats. As this is a dedicated 3x4 projector, DVDs that are 16x9 will have black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. If you have a dedicated 16x9 screen, like I have, this will not work if you like a clean image at the edge of the screen. If I mount the projector to fill the screen, then the 4x3 DVD image is projected above and below the screen. Perhaps I dont have it setup correctly, but that was the best I could do. Specs say this projector has component video inputs, which it does. However, they are part of the monitor input jack and you have to spend another $20.00 for an adapter to connect to them. Our family room is 12 X 23 and the fan is too loud when you have the bulb in high setting - you do get a great picture, though. We could barely hear the fan in low setting but the room has to be VERY dark to get a decent picture. Projector comes with a CD that has the manual and a neat screen size calculator that figures the distance from the screen the projector should be located.
oldorchardchurch.org loves it so far     On: 2006-07-16

So far this has been a good buy. I am Mark Tucker, the assistant pastor at Old Orchard Church in St. Louis, MO. This DP was a great find because it does exactly what we need it too. We dont need the extreme high definition images, but we want something that looks good and enlarges well. It does get a bit hot after 2 hours of straight use, but I am not sure that this is a problem. The price point was excellent for us as a small church, especially since I got it as an Open Box discount. I love the options and the keystone feature.
