I have Vonage VoIP service. Call quality is acceptable most of the times. Call quality is bad when I am downloading and uploading torrents. Thought this device may help by managing the available bandwidth well. Followed the instructions, got it installed and was expecting improvements during torrent activity. Made no difference. Call quality remained as bad as it was during torrent downloads and uploads. Tried tweaking few parameters at the console. Did not help. Overall, no improvements by using this device. Going to return it. Planning try Hawking broad band booster and see if that help. On: 2008-03-27
The Linksys OGV200 has saved my Vonage. My side of the call has always been perfect. Often and only after Comcast took over from Adelphia, the downstream side of Vonage calls broke up so much that the people I called could not understand the conversation and it became necessary to disconnect and use a cellphone. After accidentally running across the OGV200, I made the purchase with little hope that it would solve my Vonage/Comcast problem. Was I ever wrong. To my knowledge, since I installed this little device, Vonage has been perfect to the point its almost unbelievable. Worth note is that this problem did not exist with Adelphia, only Comcast. My Comcast service has been fine, but Comcast obviously changed some things when they took over Adelphia that did not agree with Vonage. On: 2008-03-17
This little item improved the quality of the calls immediatly.
No more dropped calls.
We telephone family around the Globe with our Voip Telephone.
This works seamlessly.
Of course you cannot get out of the natural law of physics.
Your bandwidth is your bandwidth.
You cannot get a gallon out of a pint!
But what you get is a very orderly and smooth operation of your data flow through your internet pipe.
I recommend this to ANY person with a family and a Voip Vanage Telephone. On: 2008-01-18
Before the OGV2000 was installed in my network, my VOIP calls teetered between "fairly acceptable" and "somewhat garbled". After the OGV2000 was running in my network, the quality of my VOIP calls really improved. When I made my first call with it, the party I called thought I was just next door. The background rumbling noise that usually accompanied my past calls was greatly attenuated and the voices of both parties came in strong and clear. Installation couldnt be simpler --- the OGV2000 is plug-and-play. Truth be told, I bought the OGV2000 based only on what the manufacturer said it would do in the advertisement. Im glad I bought it. Buy the OGV2000. It works well for VOIP!
By the way, Im installing another one in my brothers home because he complains that in his VOIP calls he hears his called party clearly but his called party says that his voice comes in so choppy that his sentences are completely unintelligible. Ill give you feedback in another review.

This thing does exactly what it says it will do. Connect it between your modem and router and it gives priority to your outbound VOIP packets. To be satisfied with this product you have to understand what it can and cant do. All it does is give priority to RTP packets (those send by gamming and VOIP applications) during periods of heavy upload activity (e.g. using P2P applications). It cant do anything about inbound traffic as these are typically caused by bottlenecks on the internet. Dont buy this thinking it will improve call quality or lag on MMPOG (World of Warcraft, etc.) across the board. It wont.
This thing works beautifully for me and has for well over a year. On: 2007-09-12
The OGV200 takes vonage from barely adequate to completely usable. Ive got a 6/8mbit cablemodem, but use it fairly heavily for work. Vonage quality was often too poor to use for business calls. After getting the network optimizer, I get no more complaints from the people Im calling. Definitely worth buying. On: 2007-09-09
Works fine running a Asterisk server along with 2 pcs - seems to have stopped drop signals from the cable provider which had become a real problem prior to the install. On: 2007-09-08

I had problems with my DSL connection and voice line when I switched to Vonage (VoIP). I use a Linksys wireless switch router to connect my three PCs and Vonage phone adapter to the internet via a Verizon 3Mbps DSL.
When I connected this Optimizer between the router and the modem, my problems were gone, except for the internet being intermittent. So I logged on to the Optimizers setup page (by default 192.168.188.1) and changed the Rate Detection and Modem Type from Auto to their specific values and it was smooth surfin from then on. I stumbled acroos this item when I was searching for a solution to
the constant call interruptions I was getting with the VoIP service
I was using. When I received the OGV200 and installed it (very quickly)
my connection problems were over, and my standard broadband connection improved dramtically - well worth the money!!!Linksys OGV200 Network Optimizer for Gaming and VoIP On: 2007-05-06

My entire network is comprised of Linksys equipment (Router, Wireless access point, Network adapters) and I ordered this device with the expectation that it would solve my online gaming lag when other PCs are on my network are actively surfing the web. Setup was painless and went as expected. Immediately, however, I felt a significant degradation in my overall internet performance. I have a tool that measures DSL performance and I typically experience 1-3MB download speeds with 500K upload. I ran the tool with the OGV200 in my network and was shocked to see that I was getting only 400K download. To verify that It wasnt my DSL connection, I disconnected the OGV200 and ran the test again. This time I was getting 2.3MB download. It didnt seem to make any difference on the upload speed as I consistently got between 400K and 500K upload with and without the device. I expected that it would add some overhead but truthfully, I expected 10-15% not the 80% that I was experiencing. Linksys has really dropped the ball on this one and Im afraid that its going to have to go back. On: 2007-01-27

I was having some issues with VOIP quality dropping if our PCs were in heavy use on the internet. So I picked up this device hoping to fix the issues, and sure enough, it worked!
Setup was PAINLESS beyond belief! I plugged it in, waited 3 mintues, and it was done, completely automatic exactly as described.. A 5 year old could hook this thing up!
In testing, it works perfect.. I saturated my internet connection with downloads and video streaming, then tried to make a VOIP call, and the call was crystal clear. This device squeezed down the other things, and allocated more space for the VOIP, and once the call completed, it increased back up the other items. On: 2006-10-04
