I dont care which router you buy from Vonage, you will certainly regret it. I have had Vonage for about 4 years now and once a year no matter what, your router will go bad and you will have to get on the phone with these people. The customer service could no be any worse. My router stopped working again for about the 5th time since i started the service. Today I was on the phone for more than an hour and the rep told me that if I had any more problems that they would not be able to replace my router again. Please keep in mind that they have never replaced a router for free since the very first year. I have never, never been so frustrated in my life with any other customer service. Not to mention the fact that my phone will be down for about 7 days while I wait for my new equipment. The service is so bad, that the last time this happened I didnt even bother calling customer service until I know I had about 1.5 hrs free to deal with them. Trust me, it is not worth it in my opinion. As soon as I get this new eqipment, i will throw it on ebay and go back to my old hardline service. Even if you see good reviews on here, I can assure you that those people are new to the service and have not had to deal with them on the phone yet. Buyer beware, buy at your own risk. On: 2008-04-11
I really like this unit. Had another before, I think it was a Linksys, which was HUGE!! This one is small, about the size of a pack of cards, and it will work with two lines.
Its easy to set up. All you need to do is connect it to your online connection and plug a phone in. Simple.
About Vonage in general-- sound quality is pretty good, features are nice, and its a good service overall. Customer service is a bit weird, with the calls going to the Philliapeans or another non-US call center. I have gotten great service from them though, so dont let that scare you.
Online interface is great. You can view your bill, call logs, get voice mail, and more.
This is much better than traditional phone companies, if you ask me. The only problem is you have to have a high speed online service.
The best thing about this is that you can get it and take it ANYWHERE. I have moved three times and didnt have to worry about changing my address with the phone company. And if you need to go around the world, just take it with you and people will still be able to reach you at the same number. On: 2008-02-25
Installation was super easy. Works faster and better than the original Linksys Router that came with my new Vonage service couple of years ago. And it takes up 1/3 of the space. Highly recommend. On: 2008-02-17
I was able to reduce my phone bill, I speak to any part of the USA and Canada, besides my free calls to England, Italy and Spain also have friends and family who do not wise spirit of them a long time and now I talk almost every day in my spare time On: 2008-02-02
When I terminated Vonage service, they charged the disconnection fee of around $30.00; however, they never advertise this anywhere. I was not aware of the hidden fees by vonage. I am outraged by this.
It took me almost 20 minutes to tell them I want to disconnect the service, but the operator would not accept this and wasted lots of my time, and I had to tell them again and again that I just want to disconnect the service, finally they did.
Now that I dont have vongage anymore, they have bombarded my mailbox with specials, and they need to stop this as well.
I am not recommending Vonage to anyone, especially because of bad support.

This router is so compact and light, we can just hide it on the desk and hardly know its there. We bought it when our V-Tech Vonage router suddenly died on us after just a couple months so hopefully this one lasts a little longer. On: 2007-11-23
This was a recommended router by Vonage, with whom Ive been a customer for almost five years. I had an outdated phone converter and needed to buy a replacement unit. I bought this online, followed the simple instructions on the box - since I already had a Vonage account there was no new setup - and voila, two minutes later I had a dial tone. How nice. This just works, although it should be noted that the second port is for a second line *only*, it cannot be used to hook up a second telephone set to the same line (like a fax machine) - for that you will need a cheap splitter. by: san_jose_reader On: 2007-05-19
Doesnt work with my Panasonic 2-line cordless phone.
When the adapter is connected to line 2, that line is always shown as being in use. And there is a loud 60Hz power-line hum noise when you use line 1 as a conventional phone.
The Vonage part of it works well. There is some echo on occasion but I understand that that is normal and was prepared for it.
If I disconnect the D-Link box from the phone, the problems go away. Returning the D-Link box. by: sister321 On: 2007-03-22
If youll notice, most 2006 users of vonage seem to have problem. Thats because theyve just started to be aggressive in the tech deployment. 2007 seems to be a stable period for their voip services. I was at the biggest consumer electronic show in vegas and their products were tested, and it proved good.
The price is a-okey with me because i use it alot for international call. I cant say its perfect, but most of the time it works well.
The only peeves is that if I dont have internet connection, then bye bye to my phone calls. Good thing i have my cell.
by the way, i use this d-link. It seem to be small and works just fine. Simply follow the direction and youre good to go. Vongae is user friendly and quite easy to migrate from verizon.
if you hope to transfer---include me as a friend who referred you. my username is felisitareyes. ok! by: lee_m1_2000 On: 2007-03-18
I was having some problems with my Linksys Vonage box in that I was getting random, and quite frequent line goes dead in the middle of a conversation. I decided to try this unit as it was quite inexpensive and the rest of my hardware is already D-Link. So, I switched out the Linksys and in with the D-Link and weve not had any dropped calls since.
Its nice that it is small/compact and doesnt take up much space and the wall wart AC adapter is smaller than what it replaced. Hope this one lasts longer than the Linksys box. by: sirensslave On: 2007-03-07
I have had Vonage VOIP phone service for about a year and a half and its the best thing ever! I have had no problems with it.. and my internet service can be quirky. And even better.....it saves me tons of money. I hated having to spend about $75.00 a month for basic phone service.
My family lives out of state and I didnt want to have to get an expensive cell phone plan or home phone to cover the long distance. So... Vonage.
Now the family is going to be living in my state part time and I have advised them to get a business account so their clients can call a number local to the business when they are here. by: Anonymous On: 2007-02-07
Hi, all though I oardered it through vonages website. I am having problems with talking to someone that I can understand. Also, if you are not so knowledge (like I am on technical things) you better get help. I thought since I already had a modem through my cable company that I didnt need to get theirs well turns out that I do need to get their cable modem thingy. Plus I paid for overnight, they are shipping it to me in two days...plus I have to pay for the wrong one to be shipped back to them and not only that since I havent been able to use it my free month well doesnt change since they know this...I ordered it on the 1st of feburary and know its the 7th and I lost 7 days already and another 2 days till I get the new device. This is stupid. Man make sure you also have no back ground noise like kids or tv or radio because you cannot understand them. sorry but just so you know. But on the other hand it does seem to be a good thing ....if it works ....when I get it ..... On: 2007-01-27
Recently bought this item to go behind my older router and it is working excellent out of the box. If you use a VPN connection to work from home I would recommend this solution instead of buying a all in one VoIP Wireless Router. I was using a Linksys VoIP Wireless Router that Vonage was providing and had nothing but problems connecting to my works VPN. Lots of wasted time, which adds up to lost productivity (CASH). Ive had the D-Link VTA-VR VoIP adapter for about 6 months now.
The big thing this adapter has going for it is size. Barely bigger than a pack of smokes, it packs a full dual-line VoIP capability. The ports on the back are line 1, line 2, ethernet, and power. What more do you need? A built-in ethernet switch might be handy, but would add size and weight, which I dont need either of.
As for Vonages customer service; I have yet to talk to a human! Everything can be accomplished through their website, including checking voicemail, adding a second line, and setting up an email notification when you get a voicemail. I have yet to run into an issue that couldnt be handled easily, by myself, over their website.
The sound quality on this is no better or worse than a POTS line (plain old phone service) (what youd get from a landline carrier). Calls are placed and received reliably, and there is no problem using my cordless phone and Fax machine over the VoIP system.
No more long-distance fees, portability (my number can go with me wherever theres an ethernet drop), and a very useful customer-service website... what more could you ask for? On: 2006-11-10
This D-Link hardware unit is fine. The problem is with Vonage service.
DONT sign up for Vonage unless you are a masochist. If everything is working fine, youll have no problem. But if you need to make so much as ONE little adjustment to your account, or you need tech support---forget it. You have NEVER seen such incompetence. You will literally spend ENTIRE DAYS on the phone speaking to utterly incompetent people who cannot speak English. In the end, they will tell you they cant help you. Then they will tell you you cant cancel your account because of your contract. And if you have complaints about that, they may actually curse at you and hang up. THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO ME. We signed up with Vonage a couple of months ago. Setting up the D-Link adapter was a snap and I had a dial tone quickly. After several days, my line was ported and I thought everthing was ok.
That was until I tried calling my dad several times and he just hung up on me. I heard his side clearly, but all he heard was static. Others complained about our connection too. Vonage support helped me change a few things on my account to take care of those problems.
However, I still have not been able to use my computer modem to fax. I have tried multiple tips to get it to work, and still no luck. Calling Vonages tech support is horrible. Long wait to talk with someone who doesnt speak good English nor has a clue about what to do with your problems.
The worst part is that Vonage makes you sign up for a contract. If it wasnt for that, people would flee in droves. I think it will get better, but it has a way to go
