This tv is amazing cheap and has not had a single problem since I have owned it. I absolutely adore it! On: 2007-08-11
I have had no issues with the delivery or setup. And the product has done everything that it was advertised to do. The 1080P is really nice, especially when paired with the PS3. On: 2007-07-20
Its a great TV, super picture, average audio, good price. After several weeks of use we find it to be a good choice in our purchase for a new TV On: 2007-05-24
The unit is beautiful, it starts up good, the color is vivid. I have no complain. Thus, you must have a HD signal for the best picture. the Shipping is on time. Mitsubishi technical services is very resopnsive. Goooood refer.
I will buy from Amazon.com again. On: 2007-05-18
I was a little skeptical of buying a TV on-line. But everything I have bought from Amazon has always arrived in good shape so I though I would give it a try. The TV arrived 3 days after we ordered it. It was delivered, set up and all the packing materail taken away when the delivery men left. This TV is almost ready to watch the minute you plug it in and you do not need an engineering degree to connect your DVR, DVD and other componets. This is also a great bargain. This exact TV is selling elsewhere from $2400 to $2700 not including deliveryMitsubishi WD-65731 65" 1080p DLP HDTV. On: 2007-05-14

Like everyone else, I struggled in deciding whether I should buy an LCD, Plasma, or DLP TV before the purchase; after extensive research online and actual experience the products in friends house and in brick-and-mortar shops, I decided to go with the DLP with the best "size over $$" ratio. Not all the DLP 1080P products are created equal, and I am very impressed with Mitsubishis brightness, quality, and design. It is now over one month after I purchased and experienced the TV, I am very happy with my decision. It is a solid product. By the way, even with its size, it is not very heavy (100 pounds or so); it can be easily moved around by two people, unlike my old rear-projection TV. ;-) On: 2007-05-12
Oh sure I wanted a plasma at first. Then I realized how Im going to feel like a schmuck in a year for not waiting until the prices went down. Then I came across this ingenius Mitsubishi tv. I found out through the Consumer Report that this TV is hot and highly recommended. Then I spent two weeks researching it and discovered it is an absolute steal for the price. Finally, ordering through Amazon got me an unbeatable deal with free shipping and no tax. Now, everyone who sees my tv is in awe of its color, size, features and reputation. Theres no question this is the best 65 inch tv under $2,500.00 that absolutely lives up to its reputation and amazes people with its fantastic picture. On: 2007-05-10
I purchased this item last April and to date I have nothing but great things to say about it. The delivery was without incident, delivered on time and in perfect shape. The set up was a breeze, ( saved myself $170.00 there)and the picture is just awesome. Not a day has gone by that we havent marveled at the clarity. Its like "youre there". Great product at a great price. On: 2007-05-04
I had recently purchased the referred TV and returned it due to defect. This component was delivered to me and by the time I found out that it had serious internal damages, the delivery company already made me sign the received in good condition statement. Whos the blame on this? I do not know. Bad product quality from Mitsubishi, Amazon for not setting standard to its delivery companies to verify the integrity of the product before leaving, or delivery mishandling. The TV was just shattered from the inside.
Amazon online support was excellent. The defective product was returned and a new one ordered.
When the second TV arrived, I had a hard time convincing the delivery personal to wait for me to at least turn it on before signing anything and let them go. It looked good. I had setup all the inputs to the TV (cable box, antenna, DVD) and play with it. Next day the input for the HDMI 1 (DVD) had reset automatically. I set it up again for a DVD input and within 5 or 6 hours, the settings was reset again for default (did not recognize anything plug into the HDMI connector). I returned it and decided not to purchase this specific unit. It i8s a quality problem or not?

I got this up in running in a snap and quickly saw what others have said; great picture, especially when viewing 1080p sources like Blu-ray DVDs or playing PS3 games. Ive had it for about 2 months and everything about it is easy to use, and considering the price a paid, the value is extraordinary. I believe DLP is the way to go as I also own a DLP projector. I cant wait until all programming is HD! On: 2007-04-26
Excellent service. I recently purchased the Mitsubishi WD-65731 from Electronics-Expo after doing extensive research. Not only did they have the best price for the Mitsubishi I wanted, they were also very courteous and efficient in dealing with me. I was deployed to Iraq and was trying to coordinate the delivery back to my home location. I was given an approximate day it would arrive and they were dead on. Thanks for the wonderful service and I look forward to doing business with you again!!!! On: 2007-04-14
T.V. is very nice. Analog cable channels dont come in very good. Very blurry. High def is excellent though. DVDs look vantastic! Video games awsome! No problems with delivery. Pretty much as promised. On: 2007-04-12
(read my update below)
Ive had a 70" mitsubishi for about 7 or 8 years (excellent picture, better than any projection tvs out there, better than tubes when watching from about 6-7 feet away). With power outages and spikes (we were not using a good quality surge protector, my mistake), weve had several repairs and decided to get another one.
We were looking at Sony 60" XBR 2, with very brilliant picture and Mitsubishi 65". On Sony, you can look at the picture from the sides and it is still brilliant. But Sony has a problem. Its bulb burns out quickly.
Mitsubishis are more reliable.
I went with the model that was good on picture quality but easy on price as well, so if we have to upgrade in few years we will not regret spending too much on it.
When I hooked up the TV, we had little or no signal from the cable. That was because I was splitting up the signal with another TV. When I made a dedicated connection, the picture was better than our 70" and as good as you see in stores on HD channels (we do not yet have the digital signal from cable and it is the regular service). I did a search on the TV to add channels, and it added so many channels that we were not getting before, including some HD channels. We are very happy with the results.
TV is not heavy, and we were able to put it on our coffee table for the time being. Instead of buying the stand for around $300, we decided to buy an entertainment center that matches our light oak furniture for about $1,100 (still waiting for delivery).
Initially, I was disappointed with the picture size, was ready to return and call mitsubishi to find out what was going on. It was as if the picture was compressed horizontally. Later, looking at the manual, I figured that there is a button on the remote to switch to various image configurations. That fixed the problem.
Now we enjoy the TV every evening and are constantly amazed at the quality of the picture. I have reduced the brightness, color temperature and contract a tiny bit, since when watching in dark room, the picture was too rich for the eyes. I think it will make the bulb last longer too from reduced brightness.
Mitsubishi offers extended warranty, after the factory 1 yr, for about $300 a year. When you register the product, they will remind you for extended warranty before the factory warranty expires. They told me that all service is done at the site. I have not bought the extended warranty yet, and plan to replace the bulb myself when it goes out (expecting in about a year). I remember reading in the manual about changing the bulb yourself and save.
I bought the TV on amazon, came brand spanking new, they delivered it inside and removed the box. I paid $2,150 with free shipping and no sales tax (70" cost $4,500 eight yrs ago). Local stores cannot beat this price. Initially I had a problem charging the amount on my credit card (identity theft issues) and amazon was very helpful and courteous in resolving the issue over the phone.
Update 5-12-07:
When I hooked up the TV I had to get an extended cord from the wall for signal and the picture quality was awesome. Then I installed a dedicated new wire from the cable box outside through the attic to the new TV location and the signal quality dropped about 15%. It has to do with the length of the new cable/satellite wire. I was told by the technician to either get an amplifier at the cable box or get a high-definition cable/satellite box from the TV service provider.
Note 1: Customers complaining about the drop in image quality on this TV from standard signal should look at their signal strength. The TV itself is awesome. Two months old now and no complaints -- one of the BEST image quality of all the TVs on the market today (DLP, LCD, Plasma -- incl. the most expensive models).
Note 2: Amazon dropped the price after I bought the TV. I contacted them and they gave $150 credit.

I will start by saying the 2 stars is only because the picture is amazing when it works. The rest of it is abolutely 0 stars.
First off the set broke in early February. It started shutting itself down due to a false lamp temperature problem immediately after booting up. Ok that happens, things break. This is where the nightmare begins.
2 weeks after I report it to Mitsubishi to get it serviced, an authorized agent shows up without any tools or parts, not a good sign. Then I am told by said service tech. that I needed a new light engine and lamp and that I would have to fax them a copy of my proof of purchase so they could order the parts. About a week later after not hearing anything I called the servicer who told me the parts should have been in. I called Mits. to find out what the deal was and was told the parts were backordered. I waited 5 days to see when the parts would be in and was told they did not get a part number from the servicer. I asked if they had no part number how could they tell me they were backordered.Good ?. So a month and a half of hassle later, the service center comes out again...and hour and a half late mind you, again no tools, no parts and looks at the TV again and tells me it needs a light engine and a lamp..no kidding. That was Friday the 6th of April, 2 months after it broke. So I called Mits today , Monday the 9th of April and have spoken to 3 more unknowledgable customer-non-service reps from Bangledesh or wherever, and was told I needed to fax a copy of my proof of purchase just before she rattled off where I bought it(Electronics Expo) when I bought it and the model number. I told them I already did all this a month and a half ago, you know what I need, please get my warrantied TV fixed, its been 2 months. I have now sat on hold as I type for over an hour. So like I said , great TV when it works, but if it breaks, hold on to your hat because youll be in for a long frustrating ride. On: 2007-04-10
I recently ordered this TV to replace a [...] Hitachi Rear Projection HDTV. The delivery was outstanding although a couple hours late, but the shipper took all the packaging materials with him, which is always nice. Setup is easy and the picture is truly amazing requiring very little tweaking right out of the box. I have a PS3 hooked up via HDMI for 1080p and Blu-Ray disc picture quality is out of this world. Also have an XBOX 360 and my Directv HD Receiver hooked up via component at 1080i and both also look tremendous. Even standard DVDs at 480p look very sharp. This TV is now under $2000 which makes it a no brainer for someone looking for the a big, good looking TV at a reasonable price. On: 2007-04-05
Ya just cant beat the value on this one. Picture is great. More gizmos than you can shake a stick at.
My only issue is a somewhat noisy fan (noticeable at low sound volumes) Amazon is aware of the fan and has referred me to Mitsubishi who referred me to a local warranty repair company.
And Amazon just honored a price drop credit of about $100. On: 2007-04-03
No problems with shipping...everything as expected. I have had this tv for almost a month and seems to be working perfectly. I looked around for a while, and this tv is by far the best value ($2150 and free shipping)for the size/picture quality. On: 2007-04-01
Outstanding buy.
The TV was delivered quickly and in perfect condition.
I was very pleased with ease of purchase and it is everything it is supposed to be. On: 2007-04-01
I went to numerous brick & mortar stores to research this television. It was a tough decision betweem the Mitsubishi & the Samsung big screens. NO stores would even come close to matching the price that I got from Amazon. I originally paid $2179.00 for it, but the price kept going down. I then asked Amazon to adjust the price that I paid versus what the new price was and they did so, no questions asked. So I ended up paying $1999.98 after the price adjustment. I ended up buying the Mitsubishi due to previous ownership of a 50" 4:3 television that I bought over 10 years ago that has never had a problem since purchase.
The only problem with the purchase had to be with the delivery. Amazon used EGL freight for delivery, the delivery driver DID NOT speak a word of English, other than Hi / Thank you, was scheduled for delivery between 5pm & 7pm. Television finally arrived at 9:30pm. One driver, no help, was delivered to the garage and he left. 5 stars for Amazon, 2 stars for delivery. On: 2007-03-30
I expected this to be an exceptional product. I owned a 60" Mitsubishi rear projector 15 years ago. It was the best, most enjoyable TV I ever owned. Among the current large screen technologies, the DLPs are clearly the superior technology. My Sony CRT projector needed to be replaced, so this was the obvious choice. The picture we get on this set is beyond anything I have ever seen. It is all the more remarkable because I have no HD source. I am watching everything in 480I. No local stations in our area broadcast in HD, our satellite provider can not provide any local stations in HD, and we can not currently change our programming package because we opted to bundle everything into our phone bill. I can wait for HD, however, because I get a better picture on standard TV than I have ever seen demoed on HD. The price and service from Amazon was amazing. I expected to have it dumped at the curb and was surprised when it was brought into my theater room, unpacked and set in place. Now it is $200.00 less. I dont know how you can beat this one. On: 2007-03-29
I give the Tv five starts...everything I could hope for. Ordered from Electronic Expo via Amazon. Everything was great except for delivery. It arrived promptly and in great condition. However, Amazon states that the tv should be brought into the house, unpacked, placed on stand, and plugged in by delivery guy before signing. My delivery guy said it was a "thresh hold" delivery and want to just drop it in the garage. I told him about amazons policy and he still didnt want to budge. He changed his mind after I told him i would refuse shipping and let him deal with it. It actually is a big deal to make sure it is working before you sign for it because you can not return a tv over 20 inches to this company, you have to go through mitsubishies warranty. We both carried it in and he waited for me to hook it up. the picture was great. I love the Tv. You cant beat the price either, after shipping and taxes i paid 2,048.00. Love it!!! On: 2007-03-20
I researched HDTVs (& prepared financially) for over 4 months. All the other reviews for this television are correct. This TV is the best bang for the buck, has the most connectors, the most colors on its wheel, the best longevity, 1080p, etc. If I had to complain about anything, Id say the remote is fairly plain, not matching the pizzazz of the TV. Granted, it does the job just fine. On: 2007-03-13
Ive had my 65 inch Mitsubishi for about 6 months now. Generally, Ive been pretty pleased with this product. Although its size was somewhat imposing at first, I now cant imagine having a smaller screen in our media room. It pays to go as big as your room can accomodate. Trust me.
HD viewing is great...this is where this TV really shines. Regular channels (even the digital ones) are disappointing, ranging from slightly blurry to very blurry. Fortunately, my cable system has a fairly broad range of HD viewing, from which I rarely stray.
I invested a little over $100 in a Sony up-converting DVD player which makes use of the 2nd HDMI connector on the TV. A great investment, providing "near" HD quality and full screen picture on most DVDs. This would be my recommended solution to DVDs until the HD and Blu-Ray formats come down significantly in price from where theyre at today.
My current problem/concern has been an intermittant issue with the TV shutting itself down after flashing a message about the "room being too warm". Its now happened 5 or 6 times. Im suspecting that its a problem within the TV, since it happens shortly after turning the system on, the room was probably at 70F, and the TV sits entirely exposed (i.e., no enclosed cabinet) on top of a media cabinet. Fortunately, Im still well within the warranty period, and will test Mitsubishis service if this continues.

When I told my friends I had ordered a television set through Amazon, their first question was what happens if you have a problem. I told them I did not think it would be a problem but did not know. Well, I did immediately have a problem with a small light spot on the screen. I called Amazon and was told to contact Misubishi since it was under manufacturer warranty. I did. They took the information about the TV set - serial number etc. I was asked to wait few minutes and when the lady came back on she said she had arranged for a service company to contact me within an hour. I was contacted in less than an hour and made an appointment for them to come the next day. They were here at 8:45 AM the next day and took the TV in. They said if they had the part in stock I would get the TV back within 7 days and if not it could take 10 to 14 days. They delivered the TV back to me one week to the day. They replaced the light engine showing the cost to be $911 but I paid nothing. I could not be more pleased with the service or the TV set. (It would have been nice not to have had the problem but it was good to find that Amazon and Mitsubishi are good people to deal with) On: 2007-03-09
It all started when we purchased this TV. We went to the store and yes it looked great! Wonderful picture! Little did we know the store has a ""limited"" amount of channels. Mostly HD. We get the TV home, the picture is horrible. Of course we call the cable company, they come out and we upgrade to digital cable. One week later we upgrade again to HD. Finally a picture that looks good but I only watch that one channel once a week. All of the other channels still look horrible. We call the store where we bought it. Now it seems we need monster cables. We purchase those for over $200 dollars. Picture still no good. We call the cable company again they come back out change the cables in the house. Still not a good picture. We call the store, they say its our reception we should get satellite. We call cable company they come back out, change the box outside the house. Still a bad picture. We cancel the cable. We call satelite. They come out hook up our dish. Once again HD channels are great but dont watch but one, once a week. We call the store, they come out. NOW.... its the satellite getting a bad reception, not the TV. Even though we are getting a signal of 97%. We call the satelite company they come back out adjust the satelite. I hold them hostage for some answers!!! By now its been almost 3 months dealing with the same problem " a bad picture"!! They tell me I would need the satelite to recieve the HD channels, a pair of rabbit ears to recieve my local channels and an outside antenna to recieve other analog channels "that I do watch" to get a good decent picture. The stores tech came out the day after the satellite company came out and told me the same thing. so I did some research through BestBuy found out hes right. On the Best Buy website I quote: "NO MATTER HOW NICE A TV YOU BUY, THERE ISNT MUCH YOU CAN DO TO MAKE REGULAR TV, INCLUDING DIGITAL CABLE OR SATELLITE, LOOK BETTER. My only question is: WHY DIDNT THE SALES PERSON TELL US THIS???? The other TV we were looking at was smaller but more $$$$. Now we are stuck with a Tv we cannot watch for more than 1 1/2 -2 hours. The picture is so BLURRY you really cant stand it for much longer than that. A good example: During Super Bowl Sunday: we were trying to watch the game, you could not tell if the score was an 8,3 or 9. It just all blurred together. I do not recommend buying this TV unless you never watch REGULAR TV. This Tv is only good for DVDs or HD channels. The best part of our "LEARNING EXPERIENCE the store will not take it back because now it has been over 30 days. On: 2007-03-08
WHAT CAN YOU SAY ITS LARGER THAN LIFE.THE ONLY DRAW BACK IS WHEN IM ON THE COUCH USING MY LAP TOP CANT SEE THE SCREEN ! OTHER THAN THAT MY LIFE IS COMPLETE. P.S. MY WIFE DOESNT KNOW I BOUGHT A 65 IN TV ,I HOPE SHE DOESNT NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS 65 IN DLP AND HER OLD HEAVY CRAPPY S@#NY On: 2007-03-08
I could not be happier with this television and the buying process as a whole. On: 2007-03-05
I just wanted to say that the shipping on this product was horrible. It was ordered 2\\22\\07 and as of today which is 3\\5\\07 I still havent recieved this item. Everybodt that I talk to about the tracking number and shipping status has a different story, because of this problem I will never deal with these people again. It has taken almost three weeks to deliver an item 500 hundred miles I could have and would have picked it up if I had the choice. just remember this is horrible service and target logistics is a big part of the problem you will get no help from them at all. DONT EVEN LOOK ANY FURTHER. IF YOUR IN THE MARKET FOR A BIG SCREEN TV, THIS IS THE ONE. AFTER MONTHS OF RESEARCH THIS IS NOT ONLY THE BEST FOR THE DOLLAR, BUT THE BEST PICTURE QUALITY OF ALL THE BIG SCREEN TVS.BETTER THAN THE SAMSUNG THAT HAS A LOT OF ISSUES.SO STOP LOOKING, THIS IS THE ONE.I BOUGHT IT AT BEST BUY ON SALE, SIMPLY BECAUSE I WANTED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND INSTALLATION.I PAID A LITTLE MORE BUT WHAT THE HECK.NO MATTER WHERE YOU GET IT FROM, YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED. THE PICTURE IS UNBELIEVABLE.HAD AN OLD MITSUBISHI REAR PROJ. FOR 10 YRS.AND KNOCK WOOD , NO PROBLEMS. HOPING THE SAME FOR THIS ONE. EVERY TIME YOU WATCH IT, YOULL THIMK YOUR AT THE MOVIES. HD IS INSANE LOOKING, EVEN THE STANDARD DEF IS GOOD.P.S. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON MONSTER CABLES, THECHEAPER ONES DO THE SAME EXACT JOB AT LESS THAN HALF THE COST. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im very pleased with the Mitusbishi 65" DLP TV. It was easy to install, and the internal software makes the connection process simple. A week after I had the TV up and running (on regular cable & DVD), I added a hi-def DVR box and was blown away with the picture. TV does run hot, and needs to be placed in a well vented (cool) room. Ive yet to see a better picture than this Mitsu!! On: 2007-02-10
I looked around for quite awhile for a good size TV with alot of features, a great price and excellent picture quality. We are several weeks into havign this thing and couldnt be happier.
Thsi TV has two HDMI ports on it, and a ton of other rca jacks on the back as well as several component video jacks..so your covered.
We got the matching stand that goes along with this and setup was pretty simple. Both products werent all the heavy so moving them around wasnt all that bad.
If I had to do it again I woudl still get this TV as the quality is unbelievable especially for the price. You wont be dissapointed. On: 2007-01-28
We received this TV on 1/24/07 and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Its a breeze to set up and very light weight. For the cost, this TV has to be the best in its class. I recommend it to anyone looking for a large screen TV. On: 2007-01-20
I have been waiting to buy an HDTV because frankly, theyve never impressed me. Ive been to countless friends houses where they have one and have HD channels and I didnt see much of a difference. This TV, however, is a different story. When I saw it in a local store, playing HD content, all I could do was stand there with my jaw on the floor saying, Oh my god, over and over. The picture is incredible, Ive never seen anything like it. It has a depth to it thats almost 3D, you have to see to believe. Ive had the TV for two weeks now and am just as excited over it now as I was the day we picked it up. I have the DishHD service and find myself watching movies that Ive seen a million times before over again just to see them in HD, and I notice so many details in these movies that Id never noticed before in standard def. I couldnt be happier with this unit and highly recommend it.
The only downside is that while watching many of my favorite TV shows and movies, I realize that the handsome hunks and hot chicks arent nearly so good looking when seen in HD! Brad Pitt - ugh! On: 2007-01-15
If you are looking to buy a 60+ inch DLP TV, then this is the best. I have researched Mitsuishi, Samsung, Toshiba & Sony and among these Mitsubishi wins by a clear margin (better performance at a lower price). The setup takes about couple of minutes...ClearThought Interconnect is a great feature (the TV detects what has been connected to it and displays only those in the input Menu). The picture quality is excellent for HD content. Buy a good receiver if you want to see the difference in sound quality as well. For such a big size, the weight is very less...just 58 lbs! This allows you to move the TV easily if you have to (comaparable Plasmas, like for example the Panasonic TH-58PX60U 58" Plasma HDTV weighs 138 lbs). Buy an amplified HD antenna (you can get it for less than 40 bucks) to receive local channels in High Defnition (CBS, FOX, etc) for FREE. As for watching the non HD channels, obviously the HD quality wont be there (since you are now used to HD channels), but it is still not too bad. As for watching regular DVDs (non blu-ray/HDDVDs), you probably dont need to buy an upconverting DVD player as this TV already does the upconversion for you. If you do want to watch HDVDs or Blu-Ray Discs, then you are probably better off buying XBOX 360 or PS3 instead of a stand alone player (very expensive at the moment). I have ordered on [....]. I purchased this TV and as most have said its a great deal and a fine picture. i only have one concern. I went and check the availablity of purchasing a bulb for this unit and cant get any reply from Mitsubishi as to why its not even available on thier website, its as if the model doesnt exist. As you know the only real concerns about buying DLP is changing out the bulb eventually. Still looking for an answer out of the manufacturer. by: gadgester On: 2007-01-13
DLP projection TVs have come a long way since they first surfaced about three years ago. Mitsubishi has in the last 15 months also built themselves into the leader in DLP TV by offering industry-leading DLP performance as well as value for the money.
First off, despite being larger and heavier than plasma and LCD sets, Mitsubishis DLP TVs still look really good. If you place it well in a living room, your friends might think its a plasma!
The image quality is where it counts, right? This 65" model supports 1080p, the highest HDTV display mode. The "p" stands for progressive scan, i.e., every line of each TV image is drawn instead of every other line as in old TV, resulting in clearer pictures (although I find it very difficult to tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p even on a huge set like this). This Mitsubishi does a very admirable job at taking full advantage of the latest DLP technology and for a long while I simply could not believe I was looking at a DLP projection TV. The video images are not only bright but On: 2007-01-12
The 65in rear projection TV is Just friggin awsome. There is a fan that runs even when its off thats a bit annoying. The Shipping was horrable, instead of 3 days as in the listing, it took 3 weeks. I had to track the shipment myself and deal with the trucking company but Amazon knocked 10% off for the inconvience. The TV has a great picture and great sound Highly recomended On: 2007-01-11
I thought this tv was too big at first, but now I am quite used to it and couldnt go back to anything smaller. Nice picture. The best? I dont know, but very good.
One thing, the xbox 360 hd-dvd player is washed out when connected to this tv. Thats the xboxs fault though. This tv is a real bargain. I would highly recommend it. On: 2007-01-05
Price for large 65" screen is hard to beat. Mitsubishi image quality and brightness even in sunny Arizona are also good once component cables are used. 1080p is still ahead of time but since TV sets can last decade long, better to invest in 1080p that I will wish I have in about two years. I am waiting for HD broadcast at 1080p or more likely sooner will be HDDVD player prices dropping below $350. Built-in DVI interface is great for connecting PC to the TV. Wonderful for watching streaming video on TV and opens up technical possibilities.
Now the down sides. 65" screen plus carton box do not fit within Mini-van even with back seats removed. One needs a pick-up truck to move 65" TV. I had envisioned free shipping from Amazon solves problem of having to transport TV. Everything looked perfect even after unboxing; nevertheless, there was an imperceptible screen depression that became annoying while I watched football games. Normally straight field lines are distorted around this warped screen region. Mitsubishi suggested couple local TV repair shops. TV repair shops either will not do house call or work on TV sold by Amazon. After repeated calls and emails, one local TV repair shop arranged by Mitsubishi schedule me in about 3 weeks. The repair only took 5 minutes as the front screens needed to be reseated into their grooves; possibly shifted out of the groove during shipping? Pain in the neck if one ever needs to repair big screen TVs.
Next, hard to find spot with cable inlet to locate this large screen and then to arrange seating further than 9 feet away from screen for comfortable viewing. Then, watching 4:3 picture images adjusted to fit 16:9 screen size is either seeing blacked out zones or altering 4:3 images. Various choices to view images but nothing look exactly right.
There is sometimes an annoying self shut-down within 30 seconds right after turn-on. TV senses temperature imbalance and shuts-down. This is occurring once in a while during the cold of winter. I worry about the heat of our Arizona summer.
Finally, I am anticipating to change out light bulbs in about two years once images dim and perhaps rotating color wheel mechanism too. Maintenance duty plus $300 light bulbs are down-sides of all DLP systems. LCD and plasma systems do not have maintenance duties but I am electrically savy and I prefer DLP that consumes less energy and weighs less. If not environmentally conscious, DLPs lower weight is a plus when moving the large screen around to check out different viewing options. On: 2007-01-04
The picture quality on this 65" TV is outstanding. On most TVs, especially plasma and LCD, you can always see what is known as the "screen door" effect due to the black bars between pixel elements. On this set you can get up to just a few inches away and the individual pixels are still not discernable. DLP technology beats them all. A friend of mine says that she has never been impressed when people show off their new HDTVs because the picture quality is always lacking. This one impressed her. I have had this TV for 3 months and everything looks great on it, especially the 1080i broadcasts from HDNet, UHD, and DiscoveryHD, just gorgeous. Upconverted DVDs (to 1080P) are impressive also. The TV is easy to setup because the set knows what inputs are connected and which ones arent. I just plugged the cables in from the different boxes and the menu lets you label what you plugged in. I am glad I waited until now to make an HDTV purchase. I got a really great set at a very affordable price. On: 2007-01-04
Price for large 65" screen is hard to beat. Mitsubishi image quality and brightness even in sunny Arizona are also good once component cables are used. 1080p is still ahead of time but since TV sets can last decade long, better to invest in 1080p that I will wish I have in about two years. It seems that everybody does painstaking research before making such a big decision.
I finally pulled the trigger after debating between Samsung HL-S6187W 61",DLP vs PLASMA and the Mitsu. Absolutely love it and glad I chose the larger Mitsu. Great features and awesome picture. Did not appreciate the HD picture till I got my Dish HD receiver. Also glad I chose DLP over Plasma. My large living room has lots of natural light and glare. All I can say is WOW. Last note, it seems the price fluctuates between $2100 to $2300. I got it for $2100 plus $99 shipping. I saved over $900. Love my TV, love my decision.

We bought this tv after much debate over plasma or DLP and went to several stores comparing this tv to the Samsung 67" 1080. The value of this tv for its quality cant be beat. I give it 4 stars because we had to return our first tv because it literally would not power on after having the tv in our home for 1 week. One minor drawback (And I do mean minor) to this tv is the time it takes to power up. Apparently this is due to the digital connection starting up. I dont know if this is because of our cable provider or this is the situation with all HD tvs. All in all, its a great tv, a great price, the picture cant be beat, even the Samsung picture is not as good. I have had a Toshiba 65" HDTV for the last 5+ years (with no problems) and upgraded to the Mitsubishi for DLP and HDMI inputs.
I must say that this picture blows away the Toshiba (granted the technology is light years ahead of the old first-gen HDTV); 1080i from Dish HD looks crystal clear, 1080p from my Blu-Ray player is simply amazing and upscaled SD-DVDs look equally amazing.
With all of that said the most amazing thing about the TV is how light it is; I was able to lift it up on the stand by my self. On: 2006-12-18

For the price, this HDTV is DEFF the best, its Xbox 360 approved. Mine looks like no other on it. it craps all over my brother and laws ps3 and his hdtv LOL. it does. when i first bought it i had a fan problem, it wasnt loud, it just keep getting stuck so the tv would shut down, so i got underneth it and tapped on it and the fan started up and i could get the tv on. Well i found out that from sitting in the store for a couple months not running, the fan got stuck, the more i used the tv the longer and longer it would run before it shut down. I finally got someone here he went inside and said he couldnt find a thing. i told him i think the fan is sticking because lack of use. Shur i tell you it was indeed that. I have my tv on all day long everyday and it dont stick anymore. after using it and using it it wore the fan where it was sopposed to be. it works fan tastic LOL...i can not here the fan run at all, if you do your to close, or yours is broken. i can not here mine at all...I beet you one thing that this tv looks as good as any other if not, BETTER. it has a 6 color pallet. awsome tv On: 2006-11-10
Great Price fast delivery Amazon is the best thing since low carb bread and This TV rocks. ordered it and wallahh it was at my door in 3 days. At first I thought the screen was a tad to big but guess what ITS NOT. The HD looks amazing. I looked for about 3 months for a DLP TV set. It came down to this one or the 61 inch Samsung. I am so Glad I got this one.
I Think the only down side is the Fan noise at low sound level. Other than that You get used to it I guess.
People say that you need to get insurance for the Bulb. But guess what A monkey could replace the 75 dollar bulb. So dont waste your hard earned money at Best Buy or Sears or Circuit City with that stupid sales pitch that you need to get the extended bulb warranty. All it takes is a Screw driver to remove the screw and the new bulb housing at the back slides out, slide the new one in and badda bing your back in business.

First of all, you wont find a much better TV for the price that has the features this TV has. Out of the box it looked great. I had previously owned a 62" Toshiba DLP and a 60" Sony LCD TV, both of which I returned because I was not satisfied. Despite what others may say, this TV does better than the two TVs I just listed in relation to how regular TV looks. At 65" it does a great job of taking standard television and making it look good. The Toshiba did an okay job, which I attribute to the DLP chip and the Sony LCD was just plain horrible. Compared to the other two, this TV also is superior when it comes to the PIP and video functions. The Sony didnt even come with PIP and the Toshiba would frame the pictures with black bars which made the pictures smaller. This TV uses all of the available space for both pictures and you have options to reformat each picture so that one is larger than the other. Switching between pictures is a breeze.
Now to the reason I only gave it four stars... Out of the box the fan seemed to buzz a little more than the other two TVs I owned. I wouldnt say its loud, but the buzz can certainly be heard when the volume is low. I looked all over the internet to see if anyone else had experienced the same problem, but coulndt find any reviews that mention this. It may just be an issue with this particular TV. But then again, I am a picky person and find flaws in many things that some would think are acceptable.
Another problem is also not significant, but it is worth mentioning. I found that if you mute the TV, then turn it off while muted and turn it back on later, the TV will still be muted even though the volume level may be turned up. The first time this happened, I thought it was strange that it stayed muted when I turned it back on. I then tried to turn the volume up and no sound came out. The volume level would increase but you couldnt hear anything. I tried changing the channel, changing the input, checked the cables, and even turned it off and back on but still no sound. I then hit the mute button and finally the sound came back on. This is definately a glitch that some may never notice, but I hope it saves some the frustration I experienced. It does not do the same thing if you hit mute, then try to turn the volume up. It only happens if you mute, turn your TV off and back on, then try to turn the volume up. You must press mute to get the volume back.
Aside from the two pretty insignificant issues, its a great TV. My brother also just bought the 62" Samsung DLP, which is a great TV as well. After owning and viewing these other brands, I definately think Mitsubishi and Samsung are the best by far. Stay away from Sony and Toshiba. The only reason I took the Mitsubishi over the Samsung was because it was 3" in larger.
12/13/06:
I have had this TV now for about 6 months and thought I would provide an update... The "glitches" I mentioned above are really not glitches after all. Regarding the mute issue, that is actually listed as a function in the owners manual. I havent had any trouble with it since. As for the fan, yes it seems a little loud when you first get it, but surprisingly it gets quieter the more you use it. There must be a burn in period with the fan. Overall, I have had no problems. I have looked at other brands to see if I should have bought something else, but nothing seems to compare. If you use PIP a lot like I do, this has the best format compared to other TVs. This will also outperform any LCD project TV when it comes to standard definition TV due to the DLP and 6 segment color wheel (most other brands only have a 5 segment color wheel). You cant go wrong with this TV!!! On: 2006-08-19
paid 3k and feel its worth the price. have only had for 2 weeks, but the 720p and 1080i signal I receive at times via outdoor antenna looks absolutely awesome. no flaws to mention. it has a built in formating function that allows you to fit the picture you receive to the screen size. very adjustable with the settings(kelvin, 6 colors, etc...)
also has numerous connections making install a snap(weighs 100lbs)
very happy with this set for hdtv
couple downsides with analog signal...since it is a big screen size, analog signals can look very fuzzy close up(less than 10 feet)when viewing. This is a major drawback for me cause most all channels arent hd yet. my 32" sony looks better when viewing analog.
but for future buyers, this set has a beautiful picture at 720p and 1080i. just need to have access to a hdtv signal.
UPDATE... recently hooked up a ps3 via hdmi and watched talladega nights in 1080p. what an amazing experience. I really love 1080p. the picture quality was just fantastic. in addition the video games in 720p look awesome. after several months, I am really pleased with this tv and dont have any regrets.
