The Acoustic Research AW-771 gave out when I replaced different rechargeable batteries. I used the headphones just for TV and the 771 was an ok product but experienced long start up times. I purchased the 772 and hate them. Cheap plastic, no range, louding hissing sound, strap above top of head causes discomfort and difficult to insert in rechargeable cradle. Bought the Sennheiser RS12 and most pleased. Returned the junky 772 which is a deplorable product and should be avoided at any price. On: 2008-02-17
This product allows complete comfort and sound. The batteries for the headphones last forever. Volume is completely at the control of the earphone, not the T.V. or other applicable appliance. The T.V. can even be put in the mute positiona and the earphones work independently.
The only complaint is that the volume and tone control for the earphones are not easy to locate by touch, especially when the earphones are positioned on your head. On: 2008-01-01
We purchased the AW722 for my slightly deaf mother, who loves them. Very comfortable. However, they wont stay charged for more than four hours of TV time, and she watches TV all day long. The very short time they stay charged seems crazy to me, and I have no idea how to contact a manufacturer to see if this is normal. We recharged and drained and recharged three times, as per instructions, but even now, the charge wont hold more than four hours, five at the top. Too much hassle to go in and balance them in the cradle, then let them charge overnight, only to use them for four or five hours and go through this again. Ill be returning these to where we purchased them. On: 2007-12-12
This product was exactly what I have been searching for. I have purchased four similar products in the past two years and was very disappointed. I do not know of a better product for the price and for the satisfaction it has afforded me. I am totally deaf in my left ear and partially deaf in my right ear and this was the perfect solution to my hearing problems with television, record, cd players and radios. I would recommend this product to anybody with or without a hearing problem. On: 2007-11-25
These have lots of background noise and cut out. They are fairly comfortable, though do not adjust to a small head. We need them, so they are OK, but I am not impressed. They did arrive very quickly, Amazon was great as usual and cheaper than the store. On: 2007-09-07
I purchased the Wireless stereo headphones about 6 months ago for my very hard of hearing husband. He loves them because now he can hear the television...and I love them because I can talk on the phone or watch/listen to television at a much quieter level.
Remarkable, no interference, great sound, comfortable to wear and now a fantastically happy home.

This set of headphones is just right. Good plastic; headgear that is not overly fussy; responsive buttons with good button feel. Tuning is immediate, and the transmission is good. The ear cushions are great... very soft vinyl.
I have a earlier model AR wireless headphone set which I like, but those earlier phones are bulky, made of cheap plastic... with foam earpieces that dont feel that great.
These new AR772 phones are easy to carry and wear. The recharging unit works nicely with no fuss. The sound is great.

My 14 year old son bought the headphones and basically has not taken them off. He loves them and walks all over the house and basement listening to his music. On: 2007-08-05
These are the best wireless headphones I found during the time I was shopping (late 06/early 07). I tested Sony wireless headphones and theyre mediocre compared to Acoustic Research. The only flaw in these headphones is the bulky over the head strap, it could be slimmer and less funny looking. Other than that, the product does what it says it does. On: 2007-07-28
I have to admit, I purchased these through Amazon for a really good price (less than $30), much less than retail. However, these things suck. They have no range, the sound quality decreases as the batteries drain. They dont go through walls and I have to keep adjusting the channel even sitting right in front of the TV. In all fairness I also have a pair of AW771s that have none of the above problems. Maybe I got a pair of lemons in these AW772s. On: 2007-07-27

I bought these so I could watch TV/movies without waking up my kids or neighbors, as Im hard of hearing. They work very well for TV, Radio etc.
Pros: light weight
inductive charging- no charging cable, just put them in the stand
I like this, no tiny contact pins to get dirty or broken and you dont have to get them on the stand *just* right to charge. I just drop em in and they work.
The sound quality is pretty good for RF wireless (stereo too)
Good signal, even in another room.
Not scared to death of breaking them as they were cheap
Cons: The earpieces arent very deep and pinch my ears after a few hours.
The tuner dial is too easy to mistake for the volume dial. I fixed
this with a piece of scotch tape.
No auto power on/off. Not really a big deal, I forget most of the
time and just hang them up, no issues so far.
No tone control. This would be nice, but no wireless phones I looked at had one.
Really these are a good pair of phones for the price. If you have little ones or dont want to blast out everyone else they work nicely. Im sure the Sennheisers are better but theyre too expensive.
AR isnt the AR many remember, theyre owned by Audiovox now. Still a good product. I give 4 stars mainly due to the shallow earcups. the upper models dont seem to have this issue. On: 2007-05-14
Quality for this wireless headphones is great. Compare with the cord one, there is not much different. Easy to setup and great deal to purchase in Amazon. I did the research in most popular companies, you cannot find any great deal like here. On: 2007-03-15
There is no way to directly contact Acoustic Research Repair for the wireless headphones very shaddy company. I would be very impressed if anyone can find the number I tried for hours phone and internet.. On: 2007-03-14

Saw the negative reviews on these and felt compelled to write this. Build quality for the dollar is excellent. Sound quality is very good compared to even wired headphones. Better than Sonys wireless and the best in wireless unless you want to spend over $150 for Sennheisers. The auto-tune works perfectly. Batteries are better NIMH and easily replaceable if needed.
The only slight con....could sit better in charging cradle....must make sure they dont shift and charge light is on. On: 2007-02-10

In July 2006 I purchased a set of aw771 headphones. After using them for 3 weeks I had to return them as the charger would not charge the batteries that came with the headphones. On August 20, 2006, I returned the AW771 headphones and purchased AW772 headphones. I used the new headphones until October 10th. I removed the batteries and unplugged the set as I did not have a need for them until early December. When I was ready to use the headphones again I plugged them in, recharged the batteries and sat down to use them only they wouldnt work. I tried 3 other sets of rechargable batteries to no avail. For both sets of headphones I had to turn my TV volume to maximum to get them to work. I have tried contacting Acoustic Research via Email but have not received an answer. Based on my experience with two different sets of headphones I could not recommend them. On: 2007-01-09
When I ordered the headphones I failed to check with my TV maker SONY to see if the headphones were compatible.
My TV is a KV-27FS120 and will not permit me to control the audio in the headphones and the TV at the same time. In other words when the sound is in the headphones it is off on the tv. I am hard of hearing and need to increase the sound in the headphones while leaving the audio in the tv to reamain at a different level.
Thank you for permitting me to return them for a refund. On: 2007-01-08
These Model AW772 headphones work OK on a few TV channels most of the time, but they fail to pull in some channels altogether. Automatic tuning is very fast for a few channels, but very slow for others. They sometimes lock onto an unknown channel or other source. The sound is very loud on some channels and very low on others for a given volume setting. Manual tuning is not available although a tuning label appears next to a false knob. Moreover, the instruction manual addresses manual tuning, which apparently was intended for the Model 722, which does feature manual tuning. Batteries never seem to have a full charge or reach full voltage even after 24-hour charging. On: 2007-01-07
